About Me

My photo
My blog's main subjects are sewing, the thing in which I am experienced the most, and beadwork, which is, in fact, pushed me into blogging. I am also engaged in knitting and crocheting. All together they are the set of skills which I use to make my wardrobe my whole life. These are not my only interests, I also like the English language (that's one of the reasons that my blog is bilingual), try to travel around my country and abroad (when can afford it), am interested in art (to the degree of a dilettante but nevertheless) and adore the people who can create anything beautiful or useful whatever it is :-) So welcome to a needlecrafter diary!

Morocco's Night Dream (Bracelet)

This project is about my learning to bead a peyote stitch. When telling about the acquired experience there are two temptations and I should yield to the both *.  I surely want to be honest but at the same time want to show a good result of my efforts. The first yielding can turn critical attitude to the work to self-destroying self-analysis, and another one - just will remind that nobody is perfect and it is worth accepting any of own experience as useful... I'm surely prone to the latter :-))

When you are looking through the peyote projects and tutorials you can't help noticing that most of them ( or even all!) are made of cylindrical seed beads of a certain brand. I neglected this fact on clear reasons: such seed beads are more expensive and they are almost not available here so I used  #10 Czech seed beads that have the best choice of colours and more or less acceptable prices.
I chose Karshi pattern from +BeadAndButtonMag. To get it shorter I omitted a part of the pattern in the middle and stopped beading not finishing the second repeat. It didn't become a problem and, on the contrary, made up a new effect. The other days I was watching this tutorial and from about 33 min +Jill Wiseman is telling that to fasten the bracelet one can use snaps. It was exactly what I needed to solve the problem of its length.
On the picture it is also well-seen how the quality of my beading changed from the start to the end.

The bracelet is pretty wide so instead of thread I used fishing rope to bead because wanted the bracelet to keep the shape without folding. It turned out that the piece of beading started twisting at once so I followed the advice  to pull a piece of wire through the initial row of beading. I left that wire almost to the end of work.
One more simple but absolutely necessary advice. If the beading thread is stretching ( like mine) then before the work pull it until it stops stretching... have no idea why it didn't occur to me indeed :-)

So, if not to mention the number of months passed between the start and the finish of this work, the result is not so bad. And when the dress, for what the bracelet is meant to be, is ready, this piece of my beading will probably seem to be the best :-))
