Viscose Wrap Dress

At the beginning of this summer, I had ambitions to make three big dresses. Saying "big", I mean something more complex that takes time and extra effort. In the end, I made only one of them, model #123 from Burda 5/2023. Nevertheless, I can't help but be happy with the outcome and proud of my persistence.

This dress caught my eye at first sight, and I was sure I wanted to make it; I just wasn't sure if I ever would do it really :-) The crucial importance in favour of starting the work had a video tutorial from Burda Style English where they sewed this garment in 13 minutes :-)

Вискозна сукня із заходом 

На початку цього літа мала амбіції пошити три великі сукні. Під "великими" маються на увазі якісь складніші за дизайном і такі, що потребують більше часу та зусиль. Зрештою, зробила лише одну з них, модель 123 з Burda 5/2023. Проте це не заважає мені пишатися тим, що у мене вийшло, та своєю наполегливістю.

Сукня ця завоювала моє серденько з першого погляду, і я одразу була певна, що хочу її пошити; я тільки сильно сумнівалася, що колись і справді це зроблю :-) Вирішальне значення на користь пошиття мав майстер-клас від Burda Style English, на якому вони пошили це вбрання за 13 хвилин :-)

The dress сonsists of 34 details, requires 4 m of fabric, mine is of 3.5 m, and 12 m of piping. The doubt that the cut details would become a garment this summer or, at least, this year is included :-)

Сукня складається з 34 деталей, потребує 4 м тканини, моя з 3,5, та 12 метрів канту. Сюди також включаються сумніви, що покроєні деталі перетворяться на вбрання ще цього літа або, принаймні, цього року :-)

There is not much need to share photos of the process here, as the magazine has an illustrated tutorial for this model; besides, anyone can follow the mentioned above video on YouTube. However, at first I took photos of every sewing step because wanted to see my progress, which motivated me not to postpone sewing. But then I gave up because I couldn't sew much due to being busy at work, and I was just glad if I had a chance to make one seam at a time :-)

Немає великої необхідності виставляти тут фото процесу, оскільки в журналі є ілюстрований курс з пошиття цієї моделі; крім того, можна передивлятися вищезгадане відео на YouTube. Проте я спочатку робила фото кожної стадії пошиття, тому що мені було цікаво відслідковувати мій прогрес, і це мотивувало не відкладати пошиття. Але потім я здалася, бо не могла багато шити через зайнятість на роботі і просто раділа з можливості зробити хоча б строчку на день :-)

The dress turned out to be quite heavy, so despite making me think about an evening promenade along the sea beaches or summer parties near water pools, it had not many chances to take up room in my holiday suitcase ever :-) 

Сукня виявилася доволі важкою тож, хоча вона і навіює думки про вечірні прогулянки вздовж морських берегів або ж літні вечірки біля водойм, у неї мало шансів хоч колись зайняти місце у моїй відпускній валізі :-)

Transcarpathia Vacation Wardrobe, І

As a person who wears only self-made clothes and enjoys travelling on the chance, I can't help avoiding the topic about a vacation wardrobe. I represented this subject in different ways the previous years, this time I decided to combine short descriptions of my vacation's activities with description of the clothing I was wearing on the corresponding days. This year I didn't sew anything purposely to pack in my suitcase. I just made what I wanted to update my summer wardrobe and then chose the garments which were supposed to be in use during my trip. 

I promise if I am too talkative, I will divide the story into a few parts :-)

Гардероб для Закарпатських канікул, І

Як людина, яка носить лише саморобний одяг і полюбляє за можливості подорожувати, я не можу оминути увагою тему відпускного гардеробу. Я її презентувала на різний манер в попередні роки, а зараз вирішила поєднати короткі описи розваг з описом вбрання, яке одягалося у відповідні дні. Цього року нічого спеціально для пакування у валізу я не шила, лише робила що хотіла, а потім обрала ті речі, які теоретично могли б мені знадобитися під час мандрівки. Обіцяю, якщо буду занадто балакучою, поділити цю історію на декілька частин :-)

1. To get to the destination point at first we went to Kyiv by bus and then by train to Svalyava. I've never travelled by this route by train so couldn't choose which window to look out of. Thanks to Ukrzaliznytsia it was comfortable and thanks to the Carpathian landscapes, it felt as if in a fairy tale. In the video, you can see a tiny part of those fabulous scenes.

Being on the road, I wore brown jeans and a collared shirt.

1.Щоб дістатися до місця призначення, ми спочатку їхали автобусом до Києва, потім потягом до Сваляви. Цим маршрутом на потязі я ніколи не подорожувала, тож не могла обрати, в яке вікно дивитися. Укрзалізниця забезпечила комфорт, а карпатські пейзажі - відчуття казки. У відео можна побачити невеличку частину тих мальовничих краєвидів. 

В дорогу одягнула коричневі джинси та «запорізький» топ з коміром.

Simple Jersey Dress

It is a very simple and quick project born from the question, "What am I going to wear in a hotel between breakfasts,  visiting a swimming pool, excursions, shopping and eating out?" The answer was as simple as the design of this dress. An ideal last-minute-make garment sewn of dense jersey of good quality. My this year vacation experience also proved it is a real must-have for this kind of rest.

Проста трикотажна сукня 

Це дуже простий і швидкий проєкт, народжений з питання "Що я носитиму в готелі між сніданками, відвідуванням басейну, екскурсіями, шопінгом та обідами в місцевих ресторанах?" Відповідь виявилася такою ж простою, як і крій цієї сукні: пошите в останню хвилину вбрання зі щільного трикотажу гарної якості. А досвід моєї цьогорічної відпустки ще і довів його справжню необхідність для відпочинку такого роду.

I don't remember if I had any definite sewing ideas on my mind when purchasing this knit fabric but I surely couldn't pass by its print and colour style :-) I had a piece 1.50-1.70 m x  180 cm, so it was enough to cut dress #117 from Burda 5/2023. 

As always when working with jersey, I reinforced the shoulder seams with interfacing. I also reinforced the allowance to process the side slits but then refused from making them at all.

Не пам'ятаю, чи були у мене якісь ідеї щодо пошиття, коли купувала цей трикотаж, але цілком певна, що не могла пройти повз його візерунок та кольорову гаму :-) Мала відріз 1,50-1,70 х 180 см, і цього виявилося достатньо, щоб покроїти сукню 117 з Burda 5/2023. 

Як завжди, коли працюю з такими тканинами, зміцнила прокладкою припуски плечових швів, так само зміцнила і припуски на бічні розрізи, але потім вирішила їх взагалі не робити. 

I didn't trace the pattern on paper; I put the pattern sheet right on the fabric and traced the details on the material at once. But now I think it would be worth having the paper pattern as it could be used again for sewing either one more dress or a top. 

Я не переносила викрійку на папір, приклала аркуш викрійок одразу на тканину і так на неї і переводила. Але зараз думаю, шо варто було б мати таку викрійку, бо вона може згодитися для пошиття або ще однієї сукні або топу.

Asymmetric Drape Combined Dress

 

It is one of those dresses, blouses or whatever are doomed to be made, not depending on the age of the model. This particular garment is love at first sight but to match the right fabrics to combine them wasn't too easy. Honestly, I didn't try to do a lot purposely. I just was waiting for the occasion when this pattern would be the best idea to make. Such an occasion happened when I purchased a 2 m piece of flowered viscose material, most of which was defective, probably because the seller didn't check the quality of their fabric. I applied to the company, and they promised to compensate their failure with free delivery, and I agreed. However, I must be thankful to that company because if they had done their work properly, this dress wouldn't have been sewn. So as soon as I put the garment on, I forgave them:-)

Асиметрична комбінована сукня з драпіруванням

Одна з тих суконь чи блузок чи чогось там ще, від наміру пошити які не відмовляєшся незалежно від того, скільки років тій моделі. А ця сукня - то любов з першого погляду, тільки підібрати тканини для пошиття виявилося не так вже і легко. Ніде правди діти, я особливо і не намагалася цілеспрямовано щось набрати. Задумала собі згадати про саме цю модель, як трапиться нагода. І нагода таки трапилася, з провини продавців тканин, які, вочевидь, не перевіряли свій товар, я отримала відріз віскозного шовку бракований відсотків на 40. На моє звернення компанія обіцяла компенсувати свій факап безкоштовною доставкою, на тому і порішили. Проте я маю тому продавцеві бути вдячною. Адже якби вони зробили свою роботу як слід, цієї сукні так би і не було,  тож щойно я це вбрання одягнула, я їм пробачила:-)

The pattern is #127 Burda 9/2013. I followed the instructions entirely. The only thing confusing thing about this model was its sleeves, for me they look unfinished in the magazine so I decided to process them with facings. At first, I planned to make them 3 cm wide like those around the neck hole but after trying the dress on, changed my mind and made them 8 cm. 

Модель 127 Burda 9/2013. Все робила за інструкцією. Єдине, що мені в цій моделі не подобалося, - дизайн рукавів, вони мені виглядають в журналі якимось незакінченими. Тож низ рукавів обробила широкими обшивками. Спочатку збиралася зробити їх 3 см завширшки, як і обшивки горловини, але, примірявши сукню, передумала і зробила завширшки 8 см.

Despite the chosen fabrics, design, and my wish to avoid it as much as possible, there is some handwork in this dress and minimal topstitching.

Незважаючи на  на обрані матеріали, фасон і моє бажання якнайбільше цього уникнути, в сукні є ручна робота та мінімальне оздоблювальне відстрочування.

I am entirely pleased with the outcome. I love everything about this garment: the pattern, the way I matched the fabrics, its perfect fitting, and even its not-so-popular in my wardrobe colour style. Especially, it is enjoyable that the project noted as some day sewing got the remark ready.

Я повністю задоволена тим, що у мене вийшло. Мені в цій сукні все до вподоби: і викрійка, і те, як я підібрала тканини, її чудова посадка і навіть її не така вже й популярна в моєму гардеробі кольорова гама. Особливо я задоволена тим, що проєкт із поміткою "колись пошиється" перемістився в категорію "пошито".

Draped Collar Dress

Wearing a new garment for the person who is going to share the experience of making it before posting is confusing to some degree. I've mentioned this before and, maybe, even not once as the story repeats because life is arranged in that way, actually :-) It means, on the one hand, you become lazy to write a post about sewing as a process, which is, actually, the sense of blogging here. Still, on the other hand, you can share the impressions after wearing this certain garment and add notes about its improvements if needed. It is exactly the case here :-)

Сукня з крепу з драпированою горловиною 

Для людини ділитися досвідом пошиття нового вбрання після того, як його вже трохи поносила, є доволі бентежним. Я вже згадувала про це раніше та, можливо, і не один раз, але ж історія повторюється, бо життя ж таки бентежне :-) З одного боку, стає ліньки писати про сам процес пошиття, що, по суті, і є сенсом цього блогу. З іншого боку, можна поділитися враженнями від носіння цього вбрання та додати нотатки щодо його вдосконалення, якщо в цьому виникає потреба. Це саме такий випадок.

The dress is made of crepe fabric, which is called American here, but I have no idea why. It is not thin material with a slight crepe structure and crush effect that surely makes caring for the clothing easy. This particular kind of crepe is considered to be worn in summer, despite being made from synthetic fibres. As for me, only great qualities are mentioned so I wanted to test them. 

Сукню пошито з крепу, який у нас тут називається, з невідомих мені причин, американським. Це не тонкий матеріал з легкою креповою текстурою та жатим ефектом, що, безумовно, спрощує догляд за одягом. Саме цей вид крепу вважається гожим для носіння влітку, незважаючи на синтетичний склад волокон. Як на мене, всі згадані якості лише позитивні, тож захотілося мені їх перевірити.

To use this fabric, I chose pattern #114 from Burda 6/2026, which I liked a lot at first sight, as it obviously must be sewn only of well-draping materials. 

I changed nothing, only lengthened the dress by about 5 cm. 

The slit is reinforced with interfacing.

After wearing the garment, I added three more loops on the back, one in the centre and two more about 10 cm from it along the waist. The belt is necessary here to form the blouson waist so to keep that loose fabric on the spot, those loops are a must, at least for me. Even in the magazine's photo, you can see the bulging fabric on the back under the belt. It makes the slit open, and the side seams go up in the bottom; they look funny but not nice at all.  

Для випробовування тканини я обрала модель 114 з Burda 6/2026, яка мені сподобалася з першого погляду, оскільки вона, вочевидь, має бути пошита лише з матеріалів, які гарно драпіруються. 

Нічого не міняла, лише подовжила сукню десь на 5 см. 

Шліцу зміцнила прокладкою. 

Поносивши сукню, додала ще три петлі для паска по спинці. Одну по центру, ще дві на 10 см від неї вздовж талії. Пасок тут необхідний для утворення напуску, тож, щоб той напуск залишався на місці, ті шльовки необхідні, принаймні для мене. Навіть на журнальному фото видно, що на спинці під паском тканина  опускається і утворюється такий "мішок", через це відкривається шлиця і по низу задираються бокові шви, що виглядає кумедно, але зовсім негарно.

The dress, or, to be exact, I in it,  was absolutely appropriate for the dinner at the yacht club and at a charity degustation of local wines in the park along the river.

Сукня, або ж  я в ній :-),  чудово вписалася в обід у яхт-клубі та в благодійну дегустацію місцевих вин в парку біля річки.

4-hour Dolman Sleeve Dress

Last weekend I sewed a couple of new things but today want to share the project I started and finished yesterday as I caught my courage while making it :-) On Friday night I and my cousin decided to spend Saturday at @street_music_festival hold in our city these days. My working week was really hard and after discussing that plan, I was close to change my mind, refuse from this idea and yet stay at home to have some quiet rest. But when on Saturday morning I woke up at about 8 a.m., my first thought was "I need a new dress to go to the festival. And the dress must be made in 4 hours as I have to be on the spot at about 1 p.m." Voila! I made it, wore it, and we spent our Saturday on the river bank listening to live music, having street food, enjoying that awesome sunny day and incredible atmosphere of the southern feast:-)

Сукня з рукавом кімоно за 4 години

Минулих вихідних я пошила пару нових речей, але сьогодні хочу розповісти про проект, який я почала і закінчила вчора, оскільки зроблений він на самому куражі:-) В п'ятницю ми з сестрою вирішили відвідати наш @street_music_festival, який тривав цими днями в місті. Робочий мій тиждень виявився справді важким і, після обговорення плану, я майже передумала кудись їхати, натомість залишитися вдома посидіти в тиші та спокої. Проте, коли в суботу я прокинулася біля восьмої, моєю першою думкою було: "Мені потрібна нова сукня, щоб піти на той фестиваль і пошити я маю її за чотири години, щоб на першу дня дістатися на призначене місце". Ну і ось! Я її зробила, одягнула, і ми провели суботу на березі річки слухаючи живу музику, смакуючи вуличну їжу, насолоджуючись неймовірним сонячним днем та розкішною атмосферою південного свята :-)

To make the dress I chose the viscose fabric I planned to use this summer but none of the ideas convinced me to get to work. Yesterday the restricted time made my brain move fast and model Burda #6322 turned out to be absolutely perfect for quick sewing of this fabric with vibrant print. I simplified the pattern even more, as I refused from a zipper as neckhole is big enough, and instead of making side slits, just widened the bottom for about 8-9 cm from the hips line. That's all :-)  

Для пошиття сукні я обрала віскозну тканину, яку збиралася використати цього літа, але щось не було переконливих ідей які б стимулювали взятися до роботи. Вчора обмежений час примусив мозок рухатися швидше і модель Burda #6322  виявилася саме тою, яка і пошиється швидко і цей яскравий візерунок зіграє якнайкраще. До всього того, викрійку я ще більше спростила: відмовилася від блискавкі (голова і так пролазить), та замість розрізів по бокових швах просто розширила низ сукні десь на 8-9 см від лінії стегон. Це все:-)

Green Green Viscose Dress

I've already shared a short video about sewing this dress so now, to some degree, am going to repeat what had been already said before :-) I planned to make the garment of this bright viscose last summer as it was meant to be worn with the belt from my orange linen dress not depending on design, but made it only last week. I am a quite spontaneous sewist but after my trip vacation to the Carpathians was sure I would be obsessed with green prints as my rest went among the most beautiful forest and mountain landscapes. I also thought about making a couple of more dresses this summer and then direct my efforts towards sewing either the postponed projects cut months ago or autumn ones. 

Зелена зелена сукня з віскози 

Я вже зробила невеличке відео про пошиття цієї сукні тож зараз, до певної міри, збираюся повторити те, що вже розповіла :-) Планувала пошити вбрання з цієї яскравої віскози ще минулого літа, оскільки, незалежно від фасону, одразу збиралася носити його з паском від моєї оранжевої лляної сукні, але пошила лише минулого тижня. Я доволі спонтанна кравчиня, але після моєї мандрівки до Карпат була переконана, що приречена на захоплення зеленим кольором, оскільки відпочивала серед найпрекрасніших горних та лісних пейзажів. Крім того,  хотілося пошити ще пару суконь цього літа, а потім вже спрямувати мої зусилля на пошиття чи то відкладених проєктів покроєних місяців тому, чи то осінніх.

To be honest, this pattern wasn't my first idea for this fabric. More than that, pattern #101 from Burda 8/2018 has never been one of my favourites, I didn't like it in the magazine at all. Occasionally, I saw its modification #6206B with  gathered shoulder seams and bought it having in mind making this very design some day. My first intention was to use pattern #112 from Burda 04/2017. After arranging the details on the fabric, it became clear this pattern is the wrong choice as 2 m isn't enough to cut it. Thus I just chose the model which pattern I already had ready. Finally, I made a longer version of #6206A but  refused from gathered sleeves and the waist casing :-)

Якщо чесно, ця модель не була в перших рядах на пошиття з цієї тканини. Більше того, модель 101 з Burda 8/2018 ніколи не була серед моїх улюбленців, в журналі вона мене ніколи не приваблювала. Але раптом побачила її модифікацію 6206В з зібраними плечовими швами і купила її з наміром колись то і пошити. Першим наміром було використати викрійку 112 з Burda 04/2017. Розклавши деталі на тканині, зрозуміла, що 2 м недостатньо для неї. Тож просто обрала викрійку з тих, які вже були напоготові. Закінчилося тим, що пошила довшу версію 6206А без зібраних рукавів та куліски по талії :-)

To decorate the dress I insert the bias tape in the sleeves and bodice seams. I showed it in my short video, it's in Ukrainian but I tried to be clear and demonstarte more than talk so it can be helpful to learn this technology if it is new for somebody. The bias tapes are cut from the orange linen remnants of the mentioned above dress and belt.

Щоб прикрасити сукню, рукави та основі частини з'єднала швом з кантом. Показую це в своєму короткому відео, тому це може бути помічним, якщо така техніка для когось нова. Косі бейки вирізані з залишків того самого оранжевого льону зі згаданої вище сукні та паску.

Love the outcome a lot and can't help being glad that had to change the pattern :-) 

В захваіт від результату і не можу не радіти з того, що довелося змінити вибір моделі :-)

Lilac Viscose Empire Line Dress

I'd planned making this dress for probably 3 or 4 years but then sewed it for few hours :-) It happened so quickly and easily that I almost took no photos of the process and have not much to say about it as well. I can't say I'm impressed a lot how I look in this dress as it's a bit too romantic comparing with me, but I certainly enjoy the fabric, the pattern and the outcome, and share my emotions with you gladly :-) 

Бузкова сукня з віскози в стилі ампір

Планувала шити цю сукню років 4-5, а потім пошила лише за декілька годин :-) Відбулося це так швидко, що майже не зробила фото самого процесу та так само і особливо не маю що про нього розповісти. Не можу сказати, що мене аж так сильно вражає мій вигляд у цій сукні, бо я набагато менш романтичніша за це вбрання, але я точно в захваті від тканини, моделі і того що у мене вийшло і з радістю ділюся своїми емоціями з вами:-)

The fabric is viscose crepe, very beautiful and of great quality, it flows over the body perfectly despite being quite dense. There was the brand's name on the selvege and I wanted to google it, as the piece was purchased in a stock store, but couldn't find that very remnants so gave up. As for me, the choice of the pattern is the best as demonstrates the quality of the fabric in the best way. The zipper is omitted. The sleeves are lengthened for about 3-2 cm. 

I like all the options of  pattern Burda #6685 so hope to have a chance to sew the rest of them  one day.

Тканина - віскозний креп, дуже гарна і високої якості, прекрасно струмує по тілу хоча доволі щільна. На одній з кромок була назва бренду, хотіла погуглити, оскільки купувала відріз в стоковій крамниці, але потім не знайшла саме той клаптик та і здалася. Як на мене, вибір моделі якнайкраще демонструє якості тканини. Блискавку не вшивала. Рукави подовжила на 2-3 см.

Мені подобаються всі варіанти цієї викрійки Burda 6685, тож сподіваюся колись всі їх і пошити.

Chiffon Raglan Sleeves Dress

Dress #117 from Burda 1/2024 caught my eye from the first sight and at once I decided to make it of this chiffon with embroidered border although I don't remember which of them I had first :-) The pattern is simple, it is a raglan dress gathered around a neckhole band which I'd rather name a round placket, as  technically it is it, but not sure it's a correct term in English.

Шифонова сукня з рукавами реглан 

Сукня 117 з Burda 1/2024 одразу потрапила до мене в поле зору, і так само одразу вирішила шити її з цього шифону з вишитою каймою, тільки точно не пам'ятаю, що з них з'явилося у мене першим :-) Модель проста, це сукня з рукавами реглан призборена навколо планки горловини.

The hardest part of sewing was to cut the dress of chiffon although thanking to the pattern, the process turned out easier than it could be. The simplest part was to hem the garment as I just cut the extra fabric along the embroidery. 

I didn't make a belt. Firstly because there left not enough fabric and I had to compile it of 6-7 pieces, and secondly, after wearing the garment I realised it is not needed at all in my variant. The fabric is too transparent to wear the dress without an underskirt. Quite much attention I paid to this dress in this video (it is in Ukrainian).

Найскладнішим в роботі над сукнею було покроїти її з шифону, але завдяки моделі, процес виявився простішим ніж очікувалось. Найпростіша частина роботи - обробка низу, оскільки я просто зрізала зайву тканину вздовж вишитого краю.

Пасок не робила. По-перше, тому що тканини не вистачало і довелося б ліпити його з 6-7 шматочків; по-друге, поносивши сукню я впевнелася в своїй думці, що пасок тут не до чого. Тканина надто прозора, щоб носити вбрання без нижньої спідниці. Доволі багато уваги приділила пошиттю цьєї моделі в цьому відео.

Sewing the placket took a lot of time comparing with all the process. As the details of it are small, at first I reinforced the piece of fabric with the interfacing and only then cut the details. 

На пришивання планки пішло багато часу в порівнянні з усім процесом. Оскільки деталі планки малі, то спочатку я зміцнила шматок тканини прокладкою, а потім вже покроїла деталі.

The dress is very comfortable and suitable to wear even on warm summer days. The outfit is completed with Peacock Feather earrings.

Сукня дуже зручна і підходить для теплих літніх днів. Вбрання доповнено сережками "Перо Павича".

Yellow Tulips Shift Dress

 

My new dress made of stretch cotton sateen. It is an easy fabric to sew and looks great in a ready garment. For this dress I chose pattern #115 from 4/2012. I wanted to try it quite long ago because of its unique sleeves which I'd never seen before and which did remind me the shape of a tulip. The ready dress is loose enough to wear in summer but it's possible to make it more fitted if anybody wants, it's possible to add darts either in the front and back or in both details. Сукня-футляр "Жовті тюльпани"

 

Нову сукню пошила з еластичного бавовняного сатину. Легка в пошиві тканина і прекрасно виглядає в готовому виробі. Для цієї сукні обрала модель 115 з Burda 4/2012. Давно хотіла її спробувати через її унікальні рукава, яких я ніколи раніше не бачила і які і справді нагадують своєю формою тюльпан. Готова сукня достатньо вільна, щоб носити її влітку, але, якщо хтось бажає, її можна приталити виточками по переду та/або по спинці. Багатенько уваги я приділила сукня в цьому відео.

The instruction is absolutely helpful and a must to sew the sleeves. I wouldn't manage without it. The sleeves are hemmed by hands.

Без інструкції я б не впоралася з пришиванням рукавів, тож вважаю що вона необхідна. Рукава підшито вручну потайним стібком.

I already wear the garment which I complete with Blue Eye necklace.

Paisley Knit Dress

A simple dress  made of jacquard weaving knit and paisley print. Paisley is one of my favourite fabric patterns although being a teenager I really hated it, then it seemed to be only for old ladies :-) How stupid, or rather shortsighted, I was, who is old lady here!? :-)  

To make a dress I used a new for me pattern from our Ukrainian big fabric store TK (Tekstyl Contakt), I found it occasionally and wanted to give it a chance as they have some more models thus I wanted to check if their patterns would work for me not to spend even not big money in vain. This one did :-)

Трикотажна сукня "Пейслі" 

Проста сукня з трикотажу жакардового переплетіння і візерунком пейслі. Пейслі - один з моїх найулюбленіших візерунків хоча в юнацькі роки я його терпіти не могла, тоді він здавався для  старечих пані :-) Якою ж я була дурною, тобто, недалекоглядною. Хто ж тут стареча пані!? :-) Для пошиття я взяла нову для себе викрійку від нашого великого продавця тканин ТК (Текстиль Контакт), я випадково на неї натрапила і вирішила дати їй шанс: у них є ще моделі і мені хотілося перевірити чи для мене вони спрацюють, щоб марно не витрачати, хоча і невеликі, проте все ж таки гроші. Ця - спрацювала :-)

What I didn't like about the pattern, you get only one size, L in my case. It is a simple pattern so it's easy to modify it.  But if the model was more complicated,  transferring from size to size for better individual fitting would be not so easy. I shortened my dress and, not to make side slits, decided to widen it along the bottom for about 3-5 cm. What I liked a lot is the fitting which is perfect having in mind my bust and absents of darts. The pattern can be used a sloper indeed.

Що мені не сподобалося в викрійці, ти отримуєш лише один розмір, в моєму випадку L. Це проста модель, тому її дуже легко змінити, але якби модель була б складнішою, переходи від розміру до розміру для кращої посадки не були б таким простими. Я свою сукню вкоротила і, щоб не робити розрізів по боках, вирішила розширити вздовж низу на приблизно 3-5 см. Що мені надзвичайно сподобалося - це посадка яка, без сумніву, чудова і це при моєму бюсті і відсутності виточек. Викрійку можна використовувати як основу.

I omitted back centre zipper, I cut the back folded, and to put the garment on made a short cut along the back centr line which I reinforced with a stripe of interfacing and then processed with  binding. The collar is soft without interfacing.

Від блискавки в середньому шві відмовилася, я його і не робила, спинку викроїла зі згином, а щоб одягати сукню, зробила по центру спинки невеличкий розріз, зміцнила його і обробила бейкою.

To complete the outfit I chose Colour of the Rain earrings and made a new pair Crystal Chandelier. I also mentioned work on this dress in a couple of my videos (video in Ukrainian).

Щоб завершити вбрання обрала сережки "Колір дощу" та зробила нову пару з підвісками з кристалів. Також про роботу над сукнею я згадувала в одному-двох моїх відео.

Pysanka Sweatshirt Dress

I made this dress #105 from Burda 9/2019, or PDF #6180, very quickly, for just a few hours. Maybe because I was happy with me managing to cut the garment the way I wanted as the pattern corresponded the fabric, dense soft well stretching cotton knit, and the main factor, its beautiful print, exactly as it had been expected. As for the person, who has never worn sweatshirt dresses, and, actually, disliked them, I guess I made a good job and look  and feel pretty well in my new garment :-)

Сукня-світшот "Писанка"

Цю сукню #105 з Burda 9/2019, або PDF #6180, пошила дуже швидко, фактично за декілька годин. Можливо через задоволення, що вдалося покроїти вбрання саме так я хотіла, бо модель відповідає тканині, щільному, м'якому, еластичному бавовняному трикотажу, та, найголовніше, його прекрасному візерунку, саме так як і очікувалося. Як для людини, яка ніколи не носила сукні-світшоти і, до того ж, якій вони ніколи не подобалися, я зробила гарну роботу і виглядаю і почуваюся в цьому моєму новому вбранні доволі добре :-)

I made the dress a little longer to cover the knees and the stripe of tights between the dress hem and the high boots. I also shortened the neckband for about 5 cm as the detail given in the magazine seemed to be too long to make of this specific fabric and I thought it would be wavy and not fitting especially after washing the garment. The hem allowance was reinforced with thin knit interfacing before hemming the dress.

Сукню я трохи подовжила, щоб закривала коліна та смужку колготок між низом сукні та верхом чобіт. Також вкоротила бейку горловини десь на 5 см, оскільки деталь в журналі саме для цієї тканини була надто довгою і в готовому вигляді горловина пішла б хвилею і не прилягала б, особливо після прання. Припуск на підгинку низу зміцнила тонкою трикотажною прокладкою перед обробкою.

В цьому відео я розповідаю як намагалася підібрати якусь прикрасу щоб завершити вбрання і, зрештою, обрала джгут "Ромби".

When I put the dress on, I only had good emotions and the print pattern remined me pysanka (Ukrainian Easter painted egg) that's why I called it in that way.

Коли я одягнула сукню, у мене були лише приємні емоції, а візерунок нагадав розпис писанки, тож так я її і назвала.
