About Me
- Oksana Starzhynska
- My blog's main subjects are sewing, the thing in which I am experienced the most, and beadwork, which is, in fact, pushed me into blogging. I am also engaged in knitting and crocheting. All together they are the set of skills which I use to make my wardrobe my whole life. These are not my only interests, I also like the English language (that's one of the reasons that my blog is bilingual), try to travel around my country and abroad (when can afford it), am interested in art (to the degree of a dilettante but nevertheless) and adore the people who can create anything beautiful or useful whatever it is :-) So welcome to a needlecrafter diary!

Morocco's Night Dream Dress
No doubt all of us are full of stereotypical opinions and it is not always bad. Firstly, not everybody is able to know everything from their own experience and secondly, when talking about distant lands our stereotypes can be some kind of belief in the fairy tales. Name any place you've ever dreamt about, close your eyes and I'm sure you'll see a set of things living in your imagination for months, years or the whole life... The real things could and more likely are different from what you think but it doesn't matter: all of us have a right to a personal dream and magic story not depending on age and social status. If you are the one who's too serious to think about fairy-tales, then just substitute the word "stereotype" for "association", and then stay in your suit of earnest as long as you want :-))
This photo is not from Morocco (for a while :-)). It is from Vodice in Croatia but you can see how well the dress looks during walks around ancient streets of towns in hot countries:-))
So let's come back to reality:-) To make such a dress I used pattern #109 from Burda 5/2014 for the bodice and #121 from Burda 11/2012 for the skirt. If you are going to join the parts from different patterns, I advise to pay attention to the following:
2. The length of the bottom edge of the bodice and top edge of the skirt should be checked to be the same. To count it right just measure the length without pleats.
3. If you make the dress from the monocoloured fabric, the relief seams and the seams of the pleats (ideally) must coincide when the bodice and the skirt are joined to look neat. But I neglected this rule because my fabric is very particoloured.
And some modifications of the bodice.
2. Only detail 1 is cut double, to process the back neck-hole I cut the facing.
3. My traditional adjustment of the back to avoid bulging between shoulder blades is made on the detail 3. I decreased the detail by almost 2 cm from mark 2.
Now let's add the bracelet and the earrings... And in this way, I saw Morocco in my imagination... we'll see where it takes me next time :-) Sweet Dreams to everybody:-)

DeleteBeautiful !!!
ReplyDeleteThank you very very much!!!
DeletePerfect, blue color suits you super.
