Corduroy Turban

 

As they say a wolf can make its coat but if he spent his best years in Western Asia country, then once in a while his secret affections and wishes to see that country, or alike one, again, will be revealed :-) However, simpler and more affordable ways to plunge into poetic memories about youth and the point of possible alternative turn of life are available :-) For example, to vary the stash of hats, I could sew a turban as an accessory to pair with my new violet coat which haven't been photographed yet but which design has something in common with youth memories as well although from other geographical destination.

Вельветовий тюрбан

 

Як то кажуть, вовк може змінити свою шерсть, але якщо найкращі роки його життя минули в східній країні, то все одно раз по разу вилізатимуть прихільності та потаємні бажання побачити колись ту країну, а чи схожу на неї, знов :-) Проте, можна піти і простішим та дешевшим шляхом аби зануритися в ліричні спогади про юність та точку можливого альтернативного розвитку життя, про що теж можна трохи пофантазувати, якщо всі інші нешкідливі для здоров'я способи втечі від реальності вже не діють:-) Наприклад, для розмаїття запасів головних уборів можна пошити тюрбан в доповнення до нового фіолетового пальта, яке я ще не фотографувала, але дизайн якого теж має дещо спільне зі спогадами юності, тільки вже з іншої географічної точки.

Turban was made of corduroy remanats left from my Velvet Shaket. I didn't invent anything, just followed the first nice tutorial on YouTube and in 15 minuted the turban was ready. I wish I could make it at least 1 cm  wider, but, as I understood, stretching of the item in the back of the head has crucial meaning for the right fitting, so let it be as it is. Besides, I twisted the front knot not according to the tutorial but to get right pile direction so it differes from the sample in the video. What I didn't like about this kind of clothing, it's impossible to put on properly without looking into the mirror. 

Тюрбан пошито з залишків вельвету від моєї вельветової блузи-жакету. Нічого не вигадувала,  відкрила перший ліпший майстер клас на ютубі та хвилин за 15 виріб був готовий. Варто було б зробити його десь на сантиметр вільніший, але як я розумію, еластичність та щільне прилягання тюрбану в потиличній частині критичне для гарної посадки, тому вже як є. Також, щоб напрямок ворсу вельвету залишався правильним, довелося перекрутити вузол попереду підлаштовуючись під той ворс, а не під майстер клас. З мінусів такого головного убору, принаймні мого, одягати його доведеться перед дзеркалом :-)

Boucle Hat

My new outstanding coat had to be complemented with no less charismatic new hat :-) 100% inspiration to make it was got from stage images of our DakhaBrakha musicians but, of course, my hat must be more practical than theirs :-) At first I googled ready-made hats to buy but the prices are too high for me so I bought 30 cm of wool boucle fabric for 70 hryvnyas (1.63 dollars) and created what I created :-)

Шапка з букле 

Моє нове видатне пальто мало бути доповнено не менш харизматичною  шапкою :-) 100% натхнення на її створення - це сценічні образи наших музикантів ДахаБраха, але моя шапка мала бути, звісно, практичнішою за їхні:-) Я погуглила спочатку, що такого продається щоб купити: ціни на те, що мені відгукнулося від 650 до 1500 гривень, то я купила 30 см букле за 70 гривень і створила те, що створила :-)

At first I сut a model of fabric remnants. After trying the hat, the sizes were changed. Height 22 cm and the cornners for 4 cm.

Спочатку я покроїла модель з рештків тканини. Після примірки розміри змінила, висота -22 см, кутки на 4 см.

When cutting of main fabric I lengthened the hat for about 9 cm to get ear area doubled. 

Коли кроїла з основної тканини, подовжила шапку на прибизно 9 см, щоб участок для вух був подвійний.

The same hat but 9 cm shorter I sewed of interlining. 

Таку саму шапку, але на 9 см коротшу, пошила з утеплювачу.

One more hat, but 8 cm shorter, was made of lining. 

Ще одна шапочка, але на 8 см, з підкладкової тканини.

The ready hat is warm and funny. The final look with the coat and scarf stylistically corresponds my character. 

Готова шапка тепла і весела. Кінцевий образ разом з пальтом і шарфом стилістично відповідає моєму характеру.

Pink & White Melange Hat

Two more projects were made in December but the sharing was postponed on some reasons, or, more likely, without any worthy to be mentioned here :-) First of them is a knitted hat, as my new stunning coat needed to be complete with it to be worn in colder season. I didn't have much time to make it, and wanted to use the yarn remnants from the previoius projects so the hat pattern had to be simple. Confetti Crush pattern from garnstudio Drops Design meets those requiements entirely. To be honest, I didn't think a lot about the hat's model and used the first one I came across on their site. 

The hat is knitted with two threads, pink and white. I knitted the hat flat and then sewed, as it is quicker for me, with less number of cast stitches as my tenshion was different from the site's. 

The ready item is warm and beautiful, and matches the coat perfectly. 

Рожево-біла меланжева шапка 

Ще два проєкти було створено в грудні, але поділитися я ними не встигла з різних причин, або, вірогідніше, без жодних, про які тут варто згадувати :-) Перший з них - це плетена на спицях шапка, оскільки моє нове приголомшливе пальто треба було нею доповнити аби одягати в холодні місяці. У мене не було багато часу на плетіння і хотіла використати залишки пряжі від минулих виробів, тому модель мала бути простою. Тож Confetti Crush pattern from garnstudio Drops Design. цілком відповідала цим критеріям. Насправді, я не переймалася вибором моделі і використала першу яку побачила на їхньому сайті. 

Шапку связано двома нитками, рожевою і білою. Плела її розгорнуто а потім зшила, тому що мені так швидше, з меншою кількістю набраних петель оскільки щільність плетіння у мене трохи відрізняється від опису на сайті. Готовий виріб гарний, теплий і чудово пасує до пальта.

Bordeaux Crochet Hat

 

I left house yesterday and felt the autumn came in full so I urgently need a hat to match my new jacket. I even didn't have to buy any new yarn as in my stash had a skein of Alize LanaGold in the most appropriate colour (the real hue in the middle photo of the hat on the ironing board), saturated Bordeaux. The crochet hat pattern from DropsDesign was found quickly on their site and took me yesterday evening to start and finish it.

This time I was wearing earrings made with crochet bead, one of my beading project ever, by the way:-) 

Бордовий гачкований капелюшок 

Вчора вийшла з будинку і одразу відчула, що осінь вже тут невідворотньо, тож до нового жакету мені терміново потрібна шапка. Мені навіть не довелося купувати пряжі, бо в запасах знайшовся моток Alize LanaGold потрібного кольору (реальний відтінок на фото посередині, де шапка лежить на прасувальній дошці), насиченого бордо. Модель гачкованого капелюшка швидко знайшлася на сайті DropsDesign і за вчорашній вечір я її і згачкувала. 

Цього разу доповнила вбрання сережками з оплетеною гачком намистиною, одними з моїх найперших прикрас, до речі:-) 

Stephania Boucle Hat

 

It is a well known shape of the hat but one day after Kalush Orchestra won Eurovision, on some  Spanish speaking needlecrafts channel I saw the video telling about how either to crochet or sew the hat being worn by the front man and they called it "Stephania" by the name of their song. I liked the idea, it made me smile and I decided if I ever made alike hat, it would be a nice name for it. The pattern #125 was taken from Burda Special Lyubly Shyty (I Love Sewing, Ukrainan edition by BurdaNordic License) 3/2019. It was a quick work to create an accessory to pair my new coat. Despite I lined the item with heating fabric, the ears are not protected so the hat is not enough warm for me to wear when the temperature is around or below zero outdoors.  But I do love what I get both how it looks and feels :-)

 

 Капелюх з букле "Стефанія"

Це добре відома форма капелюха, але після того як Kalush Orchestra виграли Євробачення, на якомусь іспаномовному ютуб каналі  я побачила відео як чи то пошити, чи сплести гачком капелюх, який носить їхній соліст, і дівчата назвали його "стефанія". Мені та ідея сподобалося, вона викликала посмішку, тож я вирішила, як шитиму колись таку шапку, то теж її так назву. Модель 125  взяла з "Burda Special. Люблю шити" 3/2019. Це була швидка робота по створенню доповнення до мого нового пальта. Хоча я утеплила шапку слімтексом, вуха залишаються не захищені, тож для мене шапка не достатньо  тепла, щоб носити її коли на вулиці температура біля чи нижче нуля. Але насправді мені подобається, що у мене вийшло: і як капелюх виглядає і як я в ньому почуваюся :-)

Besides, anyway "stephania" sounds much better than "bucket" what is a real name of this design :-)

Крім того, в будь якому випадку, "стефанія" звучить набагато краще ніж "відро", яке і є справжньою назвою капелюху такого крою :-)

Crochet Raffia Boater Hat

 

I decided it's a right season to crochet a new summer hat and made this with a kit from Candy Yarn Store. First time I saw these kits, in which all the necessary materials are included, on Facebook last year but then I wasn't sure if I have my head to wear any hat in general because of constant shelling. Fortunately, this summer there was no need to postpone the intention. Thus I ordered the kit and a skein of YarnArt Flowers yarn to make something, for instance, a top. The girls also have a video tutorial on YouTube which I actually used to crochet the hat.

Вирішила я, що зараз саме пора року для плетіння нового капелюшку гачком і зробила це за допомогою набору від крамниці "Candy Yarn". Перший раз я побачила ці набори, в які входять всі необхідні матеріали, на Фейсбуці минулого року, але тоді через постійні обстріли я не була впевнена, чи у мене взагалі буде голова, щоб носити будь який капелюх. На щастя цього року не було необхідності відкладати наміри, тож я купила набір та ще один моток пряжі YarnArt Flowers сплести щось на кшталт, наприклад, топу. Також на YouTube у дівчат є відео майстер клас з плетіння капелюшка, яким я і скористалася. 

A Boater Hat is a good name but as I see comparing with my previous one, whatever I crochet, I get Mad Hatter Style :-) I don't mind as it suits me. The main advantage of this item is the material, raffia, which is made of palm tree leaves. The hat is light, airy, and absolutely comfortable so I am really happy with this accessory. 

Капелюшок канотьє звучить гарно, але, як я бачу порівнюючи з попереднім,  щоб я не плела, виходить стиль Божевільного Капелюшника :-) Я не проти оскільки мені це личить. Головною перевагою цього виробу є матеріал, рафія, який виготовляється з листя пальмових дерев. Капелюх легкий, повітряний і абсолютно зручний, тож я справді задоволена цим аксесуаром.

Blue Beret

Last weekend I finished a new coat but I want to start its work story with posts about sewing a beret and a belt to match the coat. Among the mentioned three items made of the same fabric, sewing the beret took me the shortest time and the post will do the same I guess :-) 

Блакитний берет 

Минулих вихідних я закінчила нове пальто, але розповідь про роботу над ним хочу розпочати з дописів про пошиття берету та паску, які ідуть до нього в комплекті. З вказаних трьох речей пошитих з однієї тканини, на виготовлення берету пішло найменше часу і, гадаю, так само буде і з дописом:-) 

The beret was made by the pattern #121 from our local Burda's Special edition Lyublyu Shyty, the collaboration with Burda Nordic, 4/2019. The upper part was cut of the coat fabric's remnants, and for the lining I used old woolen sweater which many years ago became probably 5 sizes smaller than I am now, but it was a pity to throw it away. Thus I got a quite warm hat for cold mid-seasons or for a warm winter as well if it happens suddenly. 

Берет було пошито за моделлю 121 видання "Люблю шити" 4/2019, співпраця нашої редакції Burda з Burda Nordic. Верхню частину покроїла з решток тканини пальта, а для підкладки використала старий вовняний светр, який вже багато років тому став, мабуть, на 5 розмірів менший за мене, але шкода його було викидати. Тож маю тепер доволі теплу шапку для холодного міжсезоння або і для теплої зими, якщо така раптом трапиться цього року.

Sky Kiss Hat

The hat, obviously, has nothing in common with kissing, the name is just a reverence for the pattern from DropsDesign used as a prototype and that is called Lavender Kiss :-) I know it is winter now but it didn't feel like it is here. But on Thursday despite of absence of snow and frost, the air became so cold that reminded at once about the real season and I suddenly realised that probably I should make a warm hat matching my fabulous Colour Block Super Scarf  which I wear very often, by the way. The yarn was bought right after the scarf was ready so these Friday and Saturday nights were spent for the knitting. 

Шапка "Небесний цілунок" 

Шапка, вочевидь, жодного стосунку до цілунків не має, це просто реверанс у бік DropsDesign, чию модель використано як прототип і яка у них називається "Лавандовий цілунок" :-) Я знаю, що зараз зима, але тут цього не відчувалося. Проте, у четвер, незважаючи на відсутність снігу і морозу, повітря стало таким холодним, що одразу нагадало, яка зараз пора року і я раптом зрозуміла, що мені все ж таки варто зробити теплу шапку у пару до мого надзвичайного супер шарфу "Кольорові блоки", який я, до речі, надягаю дуже часто. Пряжу було куплено ще по закінченню роботи над шарфом, тож ці п'ятничний і суботній вечори було витрачено на плетіння.

The hat was knitted in three threads: one Alize LanaGold Classic and two Alize Kid Mohair, knitting needles 4. My hat differs from DropsDesign's but I used the way of decreasing and the idea of garter stitch band from them so without it I wouldn't manage. I started with 92 stitches because my thread is thicker and I knitted the hat flat so needed two edge stitches. The band is double for warmth. The decreasing was started with their round 3 and with 2 sts tog then 7 k. As I knitted flat in this way it looks neater.

Шапку сплетено в три нитки: одна Alize LanaGold Classic і дві Alize Kid Mohair, спиці №4. Моя шапка відрізняється від тієї, що на сайті DropsDesign, але я використала їхній спосіб убування петель та ідею планки платочною в'язкою, тож без них я б не впоралася. Набрала 92 петлі, тому що моя нитка товстіша і плела пласко, тому знадобилися кінцеві петлі. Планка подвійна для тепла. Убування почала з їхнього 7 ряду і  в іншому порядку: 2 л. разом потім 7 л. Оскільки плела не по колу, так це виглядає охайніше.

Today I am very glad with my outcome and gladly share it here. But, in fact, I knitted two hats. The first one was finished yesterday and unpicked almost at once as it turned to be too big. So late at night yesterday I started the second time and finished today at about lunch time. 

Сьогодні я дуже задоволена результатом і з радістю тут ним ділюся. Але насправді я сплела дві шапки. Першу було закінчено вчора і майже одразу розплетено, тому що виявилася надто великою. Тому так само вчора пізно вночі почала плести другий варіант, який і закінчила вже сьогодні десь до обіду. 

Faux Shearling Hat

A lot of leftovers from my Faux Shearling Coat produced a bunch of ideas to use them as soon as possible to have less in stash and the primary of those ideas was to make a hat to match the coat. It is a very quick project. Together with tracing the pattern and cutting it took no more than two hours to sew, maybe even less.

The red scarf was made many years ago by Kim Guzman's pattern which is now available from here.

Шапка зі штучної замші

Від пальта зі штучної замші залишилося багато обрізків тканини і це подарувало декілька ідей щодо їхнього використання і якнайшвидше, щоб якомога менше залишалося в клумках з клаптиками, які немає де зберігати. Найпершою з тих ідей було пошити шапку до пальта. Це дуже швидкий проект: разом з перезніманням викрійки та кроєм на пошиття пішло не більше двох годин, може і менше.

Червоний шарф було сплетено багато років тому за моделлю від Kim Guzman, зараз модель можна взяти тут. 

The pattern was taken from a very old Burda issue, probably the first I've ever bought, 6/1988. I was 18 then and now I am 48. The woman's beauty and Burda's patterns have no expiration data :-)

All the seams I stitched on the sewing machine with the fur edges on the right side. The basting is possible but with bias stitches not let the fabric move. I could to hide the side seams inside, exactly like it was made for the hem in the coat but then decided not to bother about that. 

Викрійку знайшла в старому числі Burda, мабуть першому, яке я купила в своєму житті, 6/1988. Мені тоді було 18, а зараз 48. Жіноча краса і викрійки Burda мають необмежений термін придатності :-) Всі шви я построчила на машинці з хутряними краями на лицеву сторону. Зметування можливе, але косими стібками, щоб тканина не перекошувалася. Бокові шви можна було сховати всередину так як це було зроблено для підшивки низу пальта, але я вирішила цим не перейматися.

To get a completed view I added a brim to the hat and to cut it use the pattern of the cuff for the coat. I guess the hat can be worn on both sides although I didn't try.

Для завершеного вигляду я додала до шапки закот, а щоб його покроїти скористалася викрійкою манжети від пальта. Думаю, шапку можна на обидві сторони, але я не пробувала.

Crocheted Hat... Mad Hatter Style :-)

After giving the name to my new hat I actually have not much to add :-)
Time after time I experiment with crochet hats especially with summer ones. You can see my previous projects and links to the patterns in this post. The last hat was so good that I couldn't think any other pattern would be as successful. But time passed... as my sister-in-law says, even if you like things they just become old and you just want new. It is the case I guess. Besides, any crochet hat, from my experience, looses its initial glamour in a year or two because of much wearing and washing. Besides, there are so many patterns to try and the crocheting takes so little time that it would be pretty silly to refuse from making a new hat ... but only if you are sure it suits you, of course :-) And, maybe the most important, nothing is eternal... and when it goes about summer crochet hat it is twice true :-)

Капелюх гачком... Стиль Божевільного Капелюшника :-)

Вигадавши назву для мого нового капелюха, мені вже особливо немає чого і додати :-)
Часом я експериментую з плетеними гачком літніми капелюхами. Мої попередні проекти і посилання на моделі можна побачити в цьому дописі. Останній капелюх був таким гарним, що мені і на думку не спадало, що якась інша модель може бути такою  ж вдалою. Але час спливає... як каже моя братова, навіть якщо тобі речі і подобаються, вони все одно старішають і ти просто хочеш нові. Це якраз такий випадок. Крім того, будь який плетений капелюх, з мого досвіду, втрачає свій товарний вид за рік чи два через інтенсивне носіння та прання. Крім того, існує стільки моделей на пробу, а плетіння займає так мало часу, що було б по-дурному відмовляти собі у створенні нового капелюху... але, звісно, якщо впевнена що він тобі пасуватиме :-) І, можливо, найголовніше, нічого вічного немає... а коли йдеться про плетений гачком капелюх - це двічі правда :-)

This time I chose this pattern from Pierrot   I found on the Ravelry. 
I had different yarn. The yarn put me into doubts because it is 100% polypropylene so after crocheting half of the hat I thought to wear it could be the same as to wear a plastic bag on the head. Then I spent some time in the Internet trying to find out if anybody but me had ever crocheted hats of this yarn. There were only bags and rugs and none of the hat but in one post I saw the word mentioned so took the situation under the control and went on my work:-) 
My gauge is also different so I just crocheted by the charts and drawings. To make the hat keep the shape while crocheting the last row of the brim I added narrow regiline.

Цього разу я обрала цю модель від Pierrot, яку знайшла на Ravelry.
Пряжа у мене була інша. І вона посіяла у мене сумніви, тому що це 100 % поліпропілен, отже зав'язавши  половину капелюху, я подумала, що носити його буде те саме, що вдягати на голову пластиковий пакет. Потім провела трохи часу в Інтернеті, щоб з'ясувати чи хтось у світі крім мене плете капелюхи з такої пряжі. Там були лише килимки та сумки і жодного капелюху, але в одному з дописів згадувалося саме слово  тож я взяла ситуацію під контроль і продовжила роботу :-)
Щільність плетіння у мене теж була інша, тому я просто плела за схемами. Щоб капелюх тримав форму, під час плетіння останнього ряду крисів додала тонкий регілін.

Downtown Hat

Today we had 17 degrees above zero... And then why did I spend the whole day, full of the sunlight and warmth, knitting the new hat? A good question indeed, I asked it to myself, too :-)

The story is not long but I have it anyway. On Thursday, when leaving school to go home, I thought that I have only pink hats to pair my coat and it is the reason why I make and wear only pink/lilac scarves with my blue coat. And if I had a blue hat, I could wear the scarves of any colour I want. It doesn't mean I have those scarves,... it was just a fleeting idea about possible choices :-) And it happened in about ten or fifteen minutes I found myself in the nearest hobby store buying two kinds of yarn to knit a blue hat. And more than that I started the work as soon as was free in the evening!

The pattern Downtown by Annie Cholewa has been on my mind probably since the times I registered on Ravelry. The Night Spark Flower brooch became the perfect accessory for the item. From the first sight I was sure the hat would suit me. And it really is. And it is blue :-) 

Шапка "Downtown"

Сьогодні у нас було +17 С... І чому ж тоді я провела цілий день, наповнений сонячним світлом і теплом, вив'язуючи нову шапку? Справді гарне питання, мене воно теж дуже цікавило :-)

Історія коротка, але вона у мене, як водиться, все ж таки є. У четвер, вирушаючи додому зі школи, я подумала, що маю лише рожеві шапки і тому в'яжу і надіваю лише рожеві/бузкові шарфи з моїм синім пальто. А от якби у мене була синя шапка, я б могла надівати які завгодно шарфи. Це не означає, що ті шарфи у мене є,... це була просто швидкоплинна думка :-)  І десь через десять-п'ятнадцять хвилин я опинилася в найближчий крамниці для рукотврниць, де купувала синю пряжу двох видів, щоб сплести синю шапку. І більше того, роботу почала того ж вечора щойно звільнившись від справ!

Модель Downtown від Annie Cholewa не залишала моїх думок мабуть з часів реєстрації на Ravelry. Брошка "Нічна іскриста квітка" стала гарним доповненням до виробу. З першого погляду я була впевнена, що шапка мені личитиме. І так воно і є. І вона синя :-)

The hat is knitted with two threads with 3.0 knitting needles. I had different gauge: 21 stitches x 30 rows. But to save some loose in the main part I started to knit the biggest size.

Шапку сплетено у дві нитки на спицях № 3. У мене інша щільність плетіння, але, щоб зберегти певний об'єм в основній частині, почала роботу з найбільшого розміру.

Before starting knitting the ribs I decreased 20 stitches. 

Перед тим як починати в'язати "реберця", зменшила кількість петель на 20. 

Instead of 2 x 2 ribs I knitted 1 x 1 because it is more elastic. I like the effect of changed colours so to knit the brim cut the Alize yarn and then went on with two threads of Ram.

To add some curve to the top of the hat after finishing the work I steamed the hat along the initial square to stretch it a little.

Замість "реберець" 2 х 2 в'язала 1 х 1, тому що останні більш еластичні. Мені подобається ефект зміненого кольору, тому щоб плести криси відрізала нитку Alize і продовжила роботу двома нитками Ram. 

Щоб додати трохи вигину дну шапки, по закінченню роботи трохи відпарувала  її уздовж початкового квадрату, щоб трохи його розтягнути.

Cactus Hat:-)

I like cactuses... probably since the time when many years ago my brother said that if there were a flower in the world to be associated with me it was a cactus. It was not very pleasant to hear but then I remembered cactuses were the only flowers he had grown on the window-sill in his room being a teenager. And it let me think that to remind a cactus is not so bad generally:-)

Мені подобаються кактуси... мабуть з того часу, як мій брат багато років тому сказав, що якщо у світі і існує квітка, з якою мене можна асоціювати, то це - кактус. Не так вже і приємно було це почути, але потім я згадала, що кактуси були єдині квіти, які він вирощував на підвіконні у своїй кімнаті, коли був школярем. Тож я вирішила, що нагадувати кактус не так вже і погано:-)

A hat is one of the most conflicting item in a wardrobe. The main contradictions are: firstly, probably there is no woman, who had never said any hat (especially knitted or crocheted) suited her - on the other hand, something should be put on the head anyway not to be cold; secondly, if the hat is light and nice - it is cold for winter and it means either beauty and flu or warmth and discomfort must be chosen. I suppose somebody isn't cold indeed but I am. So as long as I knit and crochet as long I experiment if I get a good result. It seems to me this try is good enough although the hat reminds a cactus with shape:-)



Шапка - це один з найсуперечливіших предметів гардеробу. Головні протиріччя: по-перше, мабуть немає жінки, яка б не стверджувала, що шапки (особливо в'язані) їй не личать, а з іншого боку, все одно щось треба вдягати на голову, щоб не мерзнути; по-друге, якщо шапка гарна і легенька - в ній холодно взимку, тобто обираємо або красу і нежить, або тепло і незручність. Можливо хтось і справді не мерзне, а я - так. Тому скільки в'яжу, стільки і досліджую, чи вийде щось з чергового експерименту. З цієї спроби здається вийшло непогано, хоча шапка своєю формою і нагадує кактус:-)

The initial plan was to make this Ridged Hat that I saw on +Yarnspirations.  But after finishing the main work I refused from making a visor on the simple reason that it was late yesterdays to add it and I was going to put the hat on the next day in the morning. And when today came, I decided I like the hat the way it is enough:-) 
To make a hat Nako Sport Wool was chosen. The hat is crocheted with two threads, the hook 9 mm (M/N).
It is a quick project although to crochet two threads of bulky yarn with such a thick hook is not a pleasure indeed. And I actually believe the things made only with thin knitting needles and hooks can look elegant and smart but, remember!, the hat must be warm! So doubts aside, besides, the process is a good practice to crochet dcfp and dcbp.


Спочатку планувалося зв'язати цю Ridged Hat, яку я побачила на сайті  +Yarnspirations. Але по закінченні роботи над основною частиною, я відмовилася дов'язувати козирок з тієї простої причини, що вчора ввечері робити це вже було запізно, а я збиралася вранці вдягати шапку. А коли настало сьогодні, я вирішила, що шапка мені і так подобається:-) 
Для роботи було обрано пряжу Nako Sport Wool. Шапку сплетено в дві нитки гачком №9. 
Це швидкий проект хоча в'язання товстим гачком товстої пряжі в дві нитки не дуже велике задоволення. До того ж я переконана, що речі зв'язані лише тонкими спицями і гачками можуть виглядати елегантно і вишукано, але ж, пам'ятаємо!, шапка має бути теплою! Отже сумніви - геть, крім того, процес роботи - гарна практика відпрацювати рельєфні стовпчики (увігнуті та опуклі).

And the pattern seemed to be clear until the 4th row where it reads "1 dcfp around next dcfp 2 dcbp around next dcbp. 1 dcbp around next dcbp"  but you cannot follow this as in the previous row it was crocheted 1 dcfp, 1 dcbp alternately. Besides, without two dcpb the piece after the third row looks strangely domed (on the first photo). So in the 3d row I crocheted 1 dcfp, 2 dcbp and then go on after the instruction (the second row).

Я не можу перекладати тут інструкцію, щоб не порушити авторське право, але можу дати переклад загальних термінів плетіння гачком, які використовуються в англомовних інструкціях (тут американський варіант термінів, британський відрізняється):
sc - стовпчик без накиду;
dc - стовпчик з одним накидом;
sl st - напівстовпчик (з'єднувальний);
dcfp - рельєфний (опуклий) стовпчик;
dcbp - рельєфний (увігнутий) стовпчик.

And thus in the 6th row I already had 40 stitches. 
My 7th row became the 9th so I added no dsbp in my 8th and 9th rows. The 10th row is missed and but if anybody like me didn't pay attention to it, she understands it when starting decreasing in the 15th row where they say the crocheter has 6 dsbp instead of five which I had. After that the I unpicked four rows and crocheted the 10th row with increasing of dsbp. Then go on again to be able to decrease in the 15th row according to the instruction.
I also didn't change the number of the hook for the smaller for the last row otherwise the hat would fit tight.

I tried the hat on both on the right and wrong size and it looks well anyway but in the latter way it  mostly reminds a pumpkin:-)

Шапку можна носити і на лицеву і на виворітну сторону, я приміряла, виглядає гарно тільки  в другому випадку вже більше нагадує гарбуз:-) 

Witch Cats Hat

The main mystery about cats is their ability to make us attached to them without any intelligible reason... Honestly... say why we like them... Cats appear and leave whenever they want, require and get!  attention whenever they want, they listen to your long educative and vain speeches about good manners and do whatever they want again anyway... And now, tell me, if anybody ever is likewise tolerant to the people acting in the same way... I am surely not. Probably I'm just envious about all those cat's faculties...
And  the image of the cat is so special... For example, I am a real fan of Cheshire cat  (or this more modern image) and then those  Catwomen?... I have nothing to say, just sigh...:-)
As I would never squeeze myself in any of   Halle Berry's or Michelle Pfeiffer's suits (what are they made of?) and hardly ever am able to hop and jump among the roofs I decided just to knit such a bright and funny hat. I guess it is pretty enough to outspeak some of the cat's features any of us girls yet has deep inside... I mean, the ability to gentle purring, caressing, to revealing our mildness and playfulness and transforming ourselves into a wild being when it becomes... hmm... actual:-) Oh... and don't forget those curling  and back arching when we feel so good... (I mean exercises to prevent a backache, of course:-)))

                                                                                       

Шапка "Чаклунські кішки"

Головна котяча таємниця - це їхня здатність міцно прив'язувати нас до себе без будь-якої вагомої чи зрозумілої причини. Ну, ось чесно, за що ми їх любимо?... Кішки з'являються і зникають, коли їм заманеться, вимагають і отримують! увагу як тільки схочуть, вони слухають твої довгі виховні промови про гарні манери, які зрештою марні, бо все одно вони роблять, що їм спаде на думку... А тепер, скажіть, чи хтось здатний терпіти подібну поведінку та ставлення від людини?... Я, безумовно, ні. Та, мабуть, я просто заздрю таким властивостям кішок...
Та і їхні образи такі особливі... Я, наприклад, справжній фан Чеширського кота (або цього сучасного варіанту), а як вам жінки-кішки? Що тут скажеш, можна лише зітхати...:-)
Оскільки я б ніколи в житті не втиснулася в жодний з костюмів Голі Бері або  Мішель Пфайфер (з чого вони зроблені?) і навряд чи здатна стрибати і носитися серед дахів, наче мені знесло один з них, я просто вирішила сплести таку яскраву і кумедну шапочку. І це буде цілком достатньо, щоб виразити деякі якості кішок, які все ще притаманні кожній з нас. Я маю на увазі  вміння лагідно муркотіти, лащитися, проявляти  м'якість та грайливість та перетворюватись на дику істоту, коли в цьому є ... потреба:-)... Так, а ще не забуваймо про ті вигинання спини і згортання клубком, коли нам так добре... (маю на увазі вправи для запобігання болю в попереку, звісно ж:-)))

I wanted to knit this hat since my registration on +Ravelry five years ago. So why not to have some fun right now? The pattern from Christine de Savoie is simple and nice. I also like it is knitted with thin needles because such work always looks better. The things I made different -  knitted the hat flat (I don't like round knitting on circular needles, it is quite troublesome for me on an unknown reason). So I cast on two more stitches to sew the hat. I also knitted about 5 cm garter stripe to bend to get some extra warmth for ears as the yarn is pretty thin.

Я цю шапочку хотіла сплести з того часу, як зареєструвалась на +Ravelry п'ять років тому. То чому б зараз не розважитись? Модель від Christine de Savoie проста і гарна. Мені також сподобалось, що вона сплетена на тонких спицях, тому що така робота завжди виглядає краще. Що зробила на свій смак - плела не по колу ( для мене кругові спиці - це справжнє лихо, не відомо чому). Тому набрала на дві петлі більше, щоб потім зшити шапочку. Також я зробила десь 5 см хусткової в'язки для підгибки, щоб вухам було тепліше, бо нитка дуже тонка. 

Sewing has never been a problem for me at all and the seam is almost not seen on the ready hat. 
The hat is very light made from Okilana Angora Millenium (to tell the true, I forgot the label in the store but as it was the only angora I examined there, I guess it is the very yarn).

Шиття ніколи не було для мене проблемою, та і шов майже не помітний на готовому виробі.
Виріб дуже легкий, зроблено з Okilana Angora Millenium (правду сказати, я забула етикетку у крамниці, але оскільки це була єдина ангора, яку там роздивлялась, то думаю, це вона і є).

Hope I'm brave enough to wear the hat, it is worthy indeed:-)
