Despite my love to sewing (that explains all:-)) I often use different events, planned for participating, like a reason to make certain clothes as, generally, my wardrobe is full enough to find there whatever for any case. Mainly it happens I am not on time to make that clothes right by the event so must finish it later, when have the chance. For example, up to now I haven't made the dress meant to be worn at my two-years-ago birthday dinner:-) It is exactly the occasion with this outfit inspired by the intention to visit the outdoor jazz concert held a couple of weeks ago in the suburbs of my city. But this time I was much quicker and finished the work just in a week after the deadline :-) The concert took place near the pond surrounded by the vineyard. Before the concert the audience tasted local vines and barbecue dishes, there was also some contest activity connected with guessing the kinds of vines but only for those who wanted to be involved, of course. The atmosphere of that event were incredible and the enjoyment didn't depend on any clothes at all but nevertheless in my imagination this outfit would suit it the best. So let it be in my wardrobe as I know exactly that when there is a nice outfit, the occasion to put it on always happens or I can wear it just for the sake of good mood:-)
Сукня з защипами, або Джаз і вино
Незважаючи на мою любов до шиття (яка все і так пояснює:-)), різні, заплановані для відвідування, події я часто використовую як нагоду зробити якійсь певний одяг через те, що у мене в гардеробі його достатньо для будь якого випадку. Переважно я не встигаю зробити той одяг вчасно до такої події, тож закінчую пізніше, по можливості. Наприклад, я і досі не пошила сукню, яку збиралася одягнути на свій день народження два роки тому:-) Те саме відбулося і з цим вбранням, на пошиття якого мене надихнув намір відвідати джазовий концерт, який відбувся на околиці мого міста два тижні тому. Цього разу в мене вийшло трохи швидше: сукня була готова лише за тиждень після кінцевого терміну:-) Виступ проводили на березі ставка в оточенні виноградників, а перед концертом публіка мала змогу дегустувати місцеві вина та смакувати стравами барбекю. Також не обійшлося без конкурсної програми на вгадування видів вин, але, звісно, для тих хто хотів взяти в тому участь. Атмосфера події була неймовірна і задоволення абсолютно не залежало від жодного одягу, проте, в моїй уяві саме це вбрання підходило до всього того якнайкраще. Тож нехай залишається у шафі, адже точно знаю, якщо є гарна сукня, причина її одягнути завжди знайдеться, а можна її вигуляти і просто заради гарного настрою :-)
I wasn't obsessed with this dress #107 from Burda 8/2012 but I've always been interested in it and wanted to try. I even used to trace the pattern and that draft was enclosed in the magazine for many years until its size turned to be small for me. The used fabric is viscose staple, quite dense and heavy as for this kind of material and is good for both longer sleeves and not wide skirts. For size 42 the dress took 2.00 х 140 сm.
Від цієї моделі сукні 107 з Burda 8/2012 я не шаленіла, але вона мене завжди цікавила. У мене навіть колись була перезнята і вкладена в журнал викрійка, яка там і лежала аж допоки її розмір не став на мене малим. Використана тканина - віскозний штапель, доволі важкий і щільний як на цей вид матеріалу і годиться і для довших рукавів і для не широких спідниць. На сукню 42 розміру пішло 2.00 х 140 см.
The dress was made almost entirely by the instruction. The lines of the tuck were copied by the copying stitches.
Сукню було пошито майже повністю за інструкцією. Лінії зашипів перенесені копіювальними стібками.
Details #3 and #4 are not stiff, are made without any reinforcing and just continue the bodice. The details were paired right side to the right side instead of right to wrong as the underneath detail was seen through the upper.
Деталі 3 і 4 не жорсткі, зроблені без жодного зміцнювання і лише продовжують ліф. Ці деталі склала виворітною стороною до вивороту заміст виворіт до лиця, оскільки нижня частина просвічувала через верхню.
As I had no chance to sew all the whole dress at once and sewed a little every day during a week, at first I processed the neckhole not to let stretch and only then joined the bodice and skirt.
Оскільки пошити всю сукню одразу змоги не було і я шила потроху щодня протягом тижня, спочатку обробила горловину, щоб не розтягувалася, а потім з'єднувала ліф і спідницю.
To press the skirt dart open the triangle piece of cardboard was used.
Щоб розпрасувати виточку на передній частині спідниці, використала трикутний шматочок картону.
Instead of the piece of fabric to sew underneath of the front draping, a piece of trim can be used if there is anything matching (I had none:-))
Замість смужки тканини під драпірування переду можна підкласти шматочок тасьми, якщо є щось гоже (у мене не було:-))
To keep the pleat of the sleeve on the spot I made a short bar tack.
The allowance for the zipper was reinforced to avoid stretching.
The sleeve with elastic has no tight fitting so can be worn pulled up above the elbow (the way I did).
Щоб складка рукавів залишалася на місці, зробила маленьку закріпку.
Припуски на пришивання блискавки були зміцнені щоб не розтягнулися.
Рукав зі вдягнутою гумкою облягає нещільно, тож можна носити його підтягнутим над ліктем (як я і робила).
Back Interest Dress or what left from its interest :-) From the first sight it was clear that this dress would be made some day: it reminded the blouse my mum used to sew me when I was either 8 or 9 years old. It had exactly the same design as the dress's bodice but instead of being stitched it was buttoned up on the sides. I also knew at once what fabric would be used and bought it specially right after purchasing the issue. The day for making the outfit was the vaguest aspect among all this definite events but it was found, too, and sooner than it could be expected :-) This year I was lucky to spend our National Flag's Day holiday by boating along the Dnipro, our main river, and visiting the outdoor performance of Kherson Music and Drama theatre. It was a wonderful day indeed and surely worthy of a particular outfit. Besides the dress I also made Golden Mean Necklace and earrings to complete it. Occasionally, or not very, both of the items together contain our flag colours. Thus the clothing enriched not only a wardrobe but the feeling of the holiday itself.
Сукня з вирізом на спинці, або День Прапору
Сукня з вирізом, або з тим, що від того вирізу залишилося:-) З першого погляду було очевидно, що колись зроблю цю сукню: вона мені нагадала блузку, яку мама шила мені у мої 8 чи 9 років. Вона мала такий самий фасон, як і ліф сукні, тільки замість швів на боках були застібки на ґудзики. Також я одразу знала, з якої тканини її пошию, і купила її щойно придбала журнал. День пошиття цієї сукні був найбільшим невідомим з усіх цих визначених подій, але і він знайшовся, і навіть швидше ніж можна було очікувати:-) Цього року мені пощастило провести День нашого національного прапору на прогулянці човном вздовж Дніпра та відвідуючи виставу Херсонського театру на свіжому повітрі. Це був справді прекрасний день і він, вже напевно, заслуговував на особливе вбрання. Крім сукні я також зробила намисто і сережки "Золота середина", щоб його доповнити. Випадково, або і не дуже, разом весь комплект вміщує кольори нашого прапору. Ось так предмети одягу не лише збагатили гардероб, але і відчуття свята як такого.
I not only knew I would make this dress #108 from Burda 5/2019 (it also has PDF pattern 6439 with some modifications), I also knew how I would change it. I refused from such a deep neckhole on the back as I needed an ordinary dress for every day use. I also didn't add the hem allowance so my outfit is about 5 cm shorter than in the magazine. And finally, I was going to change the skirt.
Я не лише одразу знала, що пошию цю сукню 108 з Burda 5/2019 (вона також має PDF викрійку 6439 з різними модифікаціями), я одразу знала, які зміни в ній зроблю. Відмовилася від настільки глибокого вирізу, мені була потрібна звичайна сукня на кожен день. Також мій виріб коротший за журнальний десь на 5 см, тому що не додавала припуск на підгинку. І, нарешті, спідницю теж збиралася змінити.
The back is designed specially for such a deep cut. At least after I had just lengthened the centre back line for 15 cm, the back I had got was too narrow. Fortunately, there was some ease and the fabric itself stretched enough to fit my figure. To widen the skirt I drew the lines down from the hips (side lines) as they went on and down from the centre for about 4 cm as wide as the fabric's width let.
Спинку сконструйовано спеціально для такого глибоко вирізу. Принаймні, коли я просто подовжила лінію центру спинки на 15 см, спинка, яку отримала, була мені завузька. На щастя, був припуск на довільне прилягання і сама тканина трохи розтягнулася тож це допомогло пристосувати для моєї фігури. Для розширення спідниці накреслила лінії вниз від лінії стегон до низу, наскільки вийшло і по центру вниз, десь на 4 см, наскільки дозволяла тканина.
At first I cut the facing at the same time with the main details but, as it was said above, the dress is needed to be tried on at first, then the back - corrected and the facing - cut.
Спочатку покроїла обшивку горловини водночас з рештою деталей. Але, як вже було сказано, спочатку треба приміряти сукню, скорегувати спинку і вже потім кроїти обшивку.
The hem of the arm holes were stitched.
Підгинку пройм підшила на машинці.
Once upon a time a man came to a hat maker with a piece of lamb fur and asked the master if it was possible to sew a hat of that piece. The hatter said, "Yes", and took the order. As soon as the man left, the idea to sew two hats of that piece of fur occurred to him and he returned to the workshop to ask if it was a chance to make two hats. The hatter said "yes" again and took the new order. Having left the place the man thought that the piece of the fur was probably big enough to make three hats and rushed to the hatter with that idea. The master agreed again and took a new order to sew three hats of the piece. And in that way it went on until the man ordered seven hats. Obviously, when he came to get his hats, they turned to be very small but the man was surprised. This parable has been known for me since my childhood and was on my mind all the time while I was sewing this dress. Why? I've mentioned here not once that many years I almost don't buy fabrics just because I like them. Before purchasing I try either match the model to the desired material or, vise versa, the fabric to the model I like. Exceptions happen mostly when they have a piece of a certain size on sale or when the fabric is quite expensive for me. Then I buy a small piece for a shift dress plus, just in case, suddenly I want to add a shortest sleeves ever. It is about 1.30(40) m x 140 cm. And then, when the time to sew comes, I want to make something different :-)
Сукня-футляр з рукавами реглан, або Баранячі шапки
Колись давно один хлоп завітав до капелюшника зі шматком баранячого хутра і запитав майстра, чи можна пошити з того шматка шапку. Йому відповіли, що можна і взяли замовлення. Щойно чоловік пішов, йому спало на думку, що з того хутра варто було б пошити дві шапки, і він повернувся до майстерні. Майстер був не проти пошити і дві шапки тож взяв нове замовлення. Дорогою додому чоловік вирішив, що шматок хутра такий великий, що вистачить і на три шапки, тож знову повернувся до майстерні. Капелюшник погодився, що і три шапки покроїти не проблема. І так це тривало аж допоки чоловік не замовив сім шапок. Вочевидь, коли він прийшов забирати свої шапки, вони виявилися занадто маленькі, але чоловік був дуже здивований результатом. Ця притча відома мені з дитинства і не йшла мені з голови весь час поки я шила цю сукню. Вже тут не один раз згадувала, що багато років майже не купую тканин лише тому, що вони мені подобаються. Перед придбанням намагаюся або підібрати модель до тканини, або, навпаки, тканину до бажаної моделі. Виключення трапляються, коли продається або відріз певного розміру, або тканина для мене занадто дорога. Тоді купую маленький відріз на сукню-футляр плюс, про всяк випадок, раптом захочу додати найкоротші у світі рукави. Це десь 1.30(40) м x 140 cм. А потім, коли настає час пошиття, хочу зробити щось інше:-)
This time from the piece of linen 1.40 x 140 cm I wanted to make dress #118 from Burda 7/2019. It has raglan sleeves, which I didn't want to shorten, a belt of main fabric, which I was going to make, and the waist plackets, which I wasn't going to make as I don't understand why to thicken the waist with it. I also lengthened the dress for about 6-7 cm.
Цього разу з відрізу льону 1.40 м х 140 см мені закортіло пошити сукню 118 з Burda 7/2019. Вона має рукави реглан, які мені не хотілося вкорочувати, пасок з основної тканини, який я збиралася робити і планки навколо талії, які не збиралася додавати, тому що не розумію, навіщо потовщувати лінію талії. Сукню я також подовжила десь на 6-7 см.
As soon as the cutting started, it became clear that the only chance to have raglan sleeves was to cut them on the bias. If the model isn't implied that, in my opinion it is better not to do that to avoid stretching and losing the shape of the sleeves after washing. But I thought my linen is rough enough so let it be.
Щойно почала кроїти, стало зрозуміло, що рукави реглан отримаю лише кроєні навскіс. Якщо це не визначено моделлю, як на мене, краще цього не робити, щоб рукави не витягувалися і не втрачали форму після прання. Але подумала, що льон доволі грубий, тож нехай так і буде.
The sleeves are basted from the back and stitched from the front side. The gathering is only up to the shoulder mark. The sleeve here has perfect construction so I'd love to use it as a base pattern if still design on my own.
Рукави зметують зі сторони спинки, зшивають зі сторони передньої частини. Призбирування лише до плечової мітки. Рукав тут має прекрасну конструкцію, тож як би я все ще моделювала власні моделі, із задоволенням використала його як основу.
Despite the required fabric need to be stretching, and mine was a little, I don't think it is a must. The dress, here the size 42, is, I'd rather say, semifitted. So the belt is needed indeed but I didn't have fabric for it, too. Maybe I'll buy some leather one but not surely.
The outfit is completed with Lattice Earrings and Shaped CRAW Bracelet. But there are much more variants of matching jewelry here :-)
Хоча рекомендована тканина має бути з еластаном, і моя таки має зовсім крихту, я не думаю, що це важливо. Сукня, а тут у розмірі 42, скоріше напівприталена. Тож пасок не завадив би, але у мене на нього тканини не вистачило. Може куплю якійсь шкіряний, але не певна. Вбрання доповнила сережками "Решітка" і об'ємним браслетом в техніці CRAW. Але варіантів гожих прикрас тут є набагато більше:-)
After joining the bodice and the skirt I saw the bodice's darts and the skirt's pleats don't coincide. It is not the problem at all as design could be whatever, but in this dress the waist plackets (red lines on the right photo), which I had omitted from the first sight, are good as they start right above the skirt pleats. But, as I wasn't going to make them as well as didn't have enough fabric for that, there is no use to cry :-)
Після з'єднання ліфу і спідниці побачила, що виточки ліфу і складки спідниці не збігаються. Це не проблема, оскільки фасони можуть бути які завгодно, але в цій сукні планки на талії (червоні лінії на правому фото), від яких я відмовилася з першого погляду, логічні, оскільки вони починаються від складок спідниці. Але ж я і не збиралася їх робити і тканини на них все одно не вистачало, тож запізно "пити боржомі":-)
As the dress was lengthened, in the centre back sea I made a short slit and reinforced it after slight gathering to avoid its opening during the wearing. (sounds like a sentence to practise the Gerund:-))
Оскільки сукню подовжила, зробила коротенький розріз у середньому шві спинки. Зміцнила його після невеличкого призбирування, щоб не відкривався під час носіння сукні.
The neckhole is processed with the facing.
Виріз горловини оброблено обшивкою.
Замість смужки тканини під драпірування переду можна підкласти шматочок тасьми, якщо є щось гоже (у мене не було:-))
