3/4 Sleeve Linen Shirt

 

I am in hurry to share a short post about my new linen shirt as it's a kind of a sewing wonder I could make it being so busy at work :-) I cut it in the end of August and last weekend was the first one I had some time to sew since then. So I am very happy with the chace and the outcome. The shirt is model #119 from Burda 6/2013. I don't have that magazine so bought the pattern #118, the whole point of the purchasing turned to be that for one price I got three patterns as after printing and sticking all the parts of the patterns sheet, all tree items made by the same draft are in it not depending which of them you buy. The only problem, if there's any, you get only the instruction you paid for, e.g. mine is for model #118. I like all three garments, they look different and thus I hope to sew all of them, or, at least another blouse, the fabric for which has been derfined already. 

In the photo the shirt is pared with Floral Trousers, and Yellow Classic.

Лляна Сорочка з рукавом 3/4

Поспішаю поділитися коротким дописом про мою нову лляну сорочку, бо це таке собі кравецьке диво, що я змогла її зробити через мою зайнятість на роботі:-) Покроїла ще наприкінці серпня і з того часу минулі вихідні стали першими які змогла присвятити пошиттю. Тож дуже задоволена і можливістю і результатом. Сорочка - модель 119 з Burda 6/2013. Того журналу не маю, тож купила викрійку моделі 118, фішка покупки виявилася в тому, що за одну ціну я отримала викрійки всіх моделей пошитих по одній викрійці, оскільки всі вони розташовані на одному аркуші після того як розрукуєш їх і поклеїш. Єдина проблема, якщо це проблема, звісно, інструкції отримуєш лише до моделі яку купив, мої, наприклад, до моделі 118. Мені подобаються всі три вироби, тож сподіваюся і пошити їх всі, або, принаймні ще одну блузку, з тканиною для якої вже визначилася. 

На фото сорочка скомбінована з класичними бавовняними штанами та квітчастими штанами з віскози. 

Прикраси: намисто "Гібіскус", оранжеві сережки, сережки з твіну та браслет з магатами.

I added darts, which you can see on the dress, to the my shirt but on the back I will probably rip them. 

 In the pattens sheet there was no draft of the back facing. Of course, I could draft it on my own but decided to cover the collar back joining seam with bias binding, cut it 6 cm wide, then fold and press. 

До своєї сорочки додала виточки, які ми бачимо на сукні, але на спинці їх точно випорю.

На аркуші викрійок не було креслення обшивки спинки, я, звісно вмію таке креслити, але я вирішила прикрити шов втачування коміра косою бейкою. Покроїла її завширшки 6 см, потім склала вздовж і припрасувала.

Plaid Shirt, or Canyon Trip

Did you know that the hiking around canyons requires a special plaid shirt? I wouldn't be surprised with your negative answer because this great thought occurred to me right on the eve of my yesterday's trip to our Ukrainian Canyons, Arbuzinskyi and Actovyi. Probably such an idea had lived somewhere deep in my mind for quite long but, as the only canyon I dreamt about was the Grand one in Arizona and the trip to it is as ghostly as the chance to do that, I'd never focused on it :-)

So on Saturday night I decided I must have sewed such a shirt, looked through few magazines, chose a pattern and traced it. On Sunday morning I thought my choice is wrong because the plaid on my fabric is asymmetric so there should be as less details as possible and I looked through few magazines again and traced one more pattern which was used this time. The fabric was in my stash many years, it was bought in the times when there were not many goods in the stores and sometimes I sewed shirts for my father and brother not because I wanted but because there was no good ones to buy. Now there is no need to do that so I guess none of those men  objects to me using the fabric for myself :-)

Сорочка в клітинку, або Подорож до Каньйонів

Ви знали що прогулянка по каньйонах потребує особливої сорочки в клітинку? Мене б не здивувала заперечна відповідь, тому що ця велика думка осяяла мене якраз напередодні моєї подорожі до наших українських каньйонів, Арбузинського і Актового. Імовірно така ідея жевріла десь дуже глибоко в моїй свідомості доволі давно, але оскільки єдиний каньйон, який я мріяла побачити, був той Великий в Аризоні, а подорож до нього є такою ж примарною як і шанс, що вона колись здійсниться, то я на ній ніколи і не зосереджувалася :-)
Тож суботнього вечора я переглянула декілька журналів, відібрала модель і зробила викрійку. Недільним ранком я подумала, що вибір мій нікудишній, тому що клітинка на тканині надто несиметрична і деталей має бути в моделі якнайменше. Тож я знову переглянула декілька журналів і зробила ще одну викрійку, якою і скористалася. Тканина пролежала в моїх запасах багато років, з часів коли товарів в крамницях було небагато і іноді я шила своїм батькові і брату сорочки не тому що хотілося, а тому, що не було чого пристойного купити. Зараз такої необхідності немає, тож, сподіваюся, жоден з тих чоловіків не проти аби я використала тканину для себе :-)

The pattern #114 from Burda 4/2010. The fabric was mentioned to be plaid and, more than that, asymmetric plaid so the sewing is actually of the type Never Say Never :-) But some approximate centre of symmetry must be chosen anyway. In this case the black stripes have symmetry but it is not statement enough so I decided to ignore the plaids and hold the symmetry of horizontal stripes. Not to ponder much about matching the yoke, cuffs and pockets plaids, I cut them bias.

Тканина, як було зазначено, в клітинку та, більш того, в асиметричну клітинку, тож все пошиття з серії "Ніколи не кажи ніколи" :-) Але в будь якому випадку хоча б приблизний центр симетрії треба визначати. Тут чорні смужки мають симетрію, але вона не достатньо визначена, тому я вирішила ігнорувати клітинки і дотримуватися симетрії горизонтальних смужок. Щоб не дуже заморочуватися з підбором клітинок кокетки, манжетів та кишень, я їх покроїла навскоси.

The model in the magazine is not checkered so I had to take care about matching the fabric pattern on the main points of coincidence on the sides and sleeves myself. In this way I match the plaid on the sleeves.



Модель в журналі не в клітинку, тому про добір візерунку у головних точках збігу, бокових швах та рукавах, мала подбати сама. Так підбираємо клітинку на рукавах.

If the fabric lets, as in this shirt, I try to sew the both edges of a yoke in the same way, I mean to join two yokes and back/front parts of the shirt stitched on the machine. In this way the joining seams are inside both on the back and front and I don't need to make any hand work.




Якщо тканина дозволяє, я намагаюся притачати обидва зрізи кокетки однаково. Маю на увазі, з'єднати обидві кокетки та передню/задню частини сорочки машинкою. У цьому випадку з'єднувальні шви опиняються всередині і мені нічого не треба робити вручну.

I cut two  pockets because they are not too big and as they are bias cut, the only one could look as a patch in this case.



Покроїла дві кишені, тому що вони невеликі і покроєні навскоси. Єдина кишеня могла б виглядати як якась латка.

Despite its natural structure and nice colour style, the fabric is of not very high quality. One of it defects was notices only after the cutting because it was on the bottom layer of the fabric. So I had to disguise the defect with the pocket sewed three cm lower than in the pattern. New designs are born in this way :-)



Незважаючи на натуральний склад і милу кольорову гаму, тканина не дуже високої якості. І один з її визначних дефектів я побачила вже після розкрою, тому що він був на нижньому шарі тканини. Через це довелося його маскувати за допомогою кишені пришитою на три см нижче ніж у моделі. Ось так народжуються фасони:-)

How to sew the collar and the cuffs was told few times, for example, here and here. I won't repeat but much confess that this time I sewed the collar at first to the right side of the blouse and than to the wrong ...hmm... but it is as they recommend in the magazine.




Як пришивати комір і манжети вже було сказано декілька разів, наприклад, тут і тут. Не повторюватиму, але маю зізнатися, що цього разу спочатку пришила комір до лицевої частини сорочки, а потім до зворотньої... хммм... але це саме те, що вони рекомендують у журналі.

The shirt is nice and comfortable, it doesn't restrict movements because has pretty lose fitting but is not too wide at the same time.



Сорочка гарна і зручна, не обмежує рухів, тому що має вільне прилягання, але при цьому не є надто широкою.

I felt free from all the troubles of every day routine there and  could stay on those stones endlessly... In such places you have a feeling as if you are talking to or observing the eternity.. And it is so indeed because those stones were born together with Earth and when we are gone, they will still stay there accumulating the sun's energy and saving their legends.




Почувалася вільною навіть від думок про щоденну рутину і могла б залишатися на тому камінні безкінечно... В таких місцях завжди буває відчуття ніби ти розмовляєш чи дивишся в очі вічності... І воно так і є, бо те каміння народжувалося разом із Землею, а коли ми підемо, воно так само залишатиметься там, збиратиме енергію сонця і зберігатиме свої легенди.

What else a person needs to feel happy...

А що ще потрібно людині щоб почуватися щасливою...

Stripy Shirt, or Sightseeing Tour

Questions about dreams like the questions about romance always take me unawares... And if yet I can't avoid answering, the first what occurs to me is the health for my parents and then those very standard much discussed and parodied (let's remember MissCongeniality) wishes from different kinds of misses about the peace and the medicine from death diseases for all the mankind. Saying without any irony all that is perfect and very noble but everybody has own personal dreams and they are more definite. Probably I have few ones, too, but why it is so hard to talk about them I don't know. Once I even asked Google how to get rid of dreams. And if to generalize all what indifferent Google said, it was "never stop dreaming"... And he doesn't care indeed what is on my mind. So if even soulless Google is much cleverer than I in such questions, then let's muse and dream... 

So, Dream, Baby, Dream :-)

Смугаста сорочка, або подорож цікавими місцями

Питання про мрії, як і про романтику, частіше за все застає мене зненацька... І коли все ж таки відповіді не уникнути, перше, що спадає на думку - здоров'я для моїх батьків, і потім - якраз ті багато обговорені перекручені  і парадійовані (пригадаймо "Міс Конгеніальність") стандартні побажання усіляких міс про мир та ліки від смертельних хвороб для людства. Все це без всякої іронії і справді прекрасно і шляхетно, але вже напевно особисті мрії у кожного свої власні і більш конкретні. У мене вони теж мабуть є, але чому про них важко говорити, я не знаю. Якось я навіть питала у гугла, як позбутися мрій. І якщо звести в єдине ціле всі відповіді, які я отримала, то безпристрасний гугл сказав, що і думати не слід від них відмовлятись... А йому ж байдуже, що там у мене на думці. Ну, якщо вже і бездушний гугл розумніший за мене в таких питаннях, то що ж, помислимо і помріємо...

Тож, Dream, Baby, Dream :-)

The border between available dream and, let's say, unavailable is thin enough. Either it is worthy to define that border or not is person's choice only but for me, not to feel disappointed because of wasted efforts, the aims should be chosen in for an inch, in for a mile if it is possible to say so here. If you are an ordinary person without special chances like me, then let's do gradually from small to big and maybe one day we'll get the great:-)
So I dream mostly about travelling (and possible about love, too, but not this time:-)) And surprisingly I even got into the desired places a couple of times:-) For example, to Czechia ( Prague, Hluboka nad Vltavou, Cesky Krumlov, Karlovy Vary, Kutna Hora - links to my albums) two years ago or to Khotyn, one of the best preserved Ukrainian fortress, and Chernivtsi  this year.



Межа між станом "доступної" мрії і "не забивай дурницями голову" досить тонка. Може і не варто ту межу визначати, але відповідно до нашого прагнення стелити солому на місце можливого падіння не хочеться забагато розчаровуватись. Якщо ти звичайна людина без особливих можливостей, як і я, то діймо поступово - від малого до більшого, а потім, можливо, доберемося і до великого:-)
Отже мрію я переважно про подорожі (можна і про кохання, але не зараз:-)) І як не дивно, декілька разів навіть потрапляла в омріяні місця :-) Наприклад, до Чехії (Прага, Глибока над Влтавою, Чеський Крумлов,  Карлови Вари, Кутна Гора - посилання на мої альбоми) два роки тому або до Хотина, однієї з найкраще збережених фортець України, та Чернівців цього року.

Besides the above peroration, the mentioned destinations have one more common feature: both times I wore the same shorts - ideal clothes for the travelling and the best shorts I've ever sewed and worn. I made them purposely to visit Czechia by Culottes pattern from Burda 5/2014 with some modifications.

And as I had some fabric left, I thought if I were so lucky with my vacations having the shorts on, probably if to make a shirt, it would bring me some fortune, too.   



Крім попереднього просторікування вище згадані пункти призначення мають ще одну спільність - в обох випадках я вдягала ті самі шорти. Ідеальна модель для подорожі і найкращі шорти, які я колись шила і носила. Я пошила їх спеціально для поїздки до Чехії за викрійкою кюлотів з Burda 5/2014 з деякими змінами.
І оскільки в мене залишилося трохи тканини, я подумала, якщо ці шорти виявилися такими щасливими для тих моїх відпусток, то може сорочка, пошита з тієї ж тканини, теж принесе мені трохи вдачі.

Well, the model #108 from Burda 1/2009 was planned to be sewed long ago. The time came at last. I made it from the same stripy fabric, the blend of linen, cotton and viscose. I shortened the sleeve and it made the shirt good for not very hot but pleasant summer weather to wear.

I also made the single piece placket instead of the stitched.
The magnet on the picture is just to revive pleasant memories:-)



Отже, модель №108 з Burda 1/2009 довго чекала свого часу і нарешті він настав. Сорочку пошито з тієї самої смугастої тканини, суміші бавовни, льону і віскози. Я вкоротила рукава і це зробило вбрання гожим щоб носити не в саму спеку, але в приємну літню погоду.
Я також зробила цільнокрієну планку замість пришивної.
Магнітик на фото - то просто так, для пожвавлення приємних спогадів:-)

So the placket is made exactly like for this blouse. I prefer such plackets because its top stitching gathers the front edge of the detail is much less than its sewing as a separate detail. Besides, the placket stays more flexible because the role of the interfacing is played by an extra layer of the fabric.



Отже планка. Зроблено її так само як і для цієї блузи. Я надаю перевагу таким планкам, тому що відстрочування планки набагато менше стягує край  передньої частини ніж її притачування. До того ж вона залишається більш пластичною, тому що роль прокладки виконує додатковий шар тканини замість клеєвого флізеліну.

As my shirt is from stripy fabric, when cutting the pockets and the flaps, check the stripes: they must check with the stripes on the main details. I do this just drawing them on the paper patterns.

Оскільки моя сорочка пошита зі смугастої тканини, то під час крою необхідно контролювати смужки на кишенях і клапанах, щоб в готовому виробі вони збігалися зі смужками основної деталі. Я роблю це просто накресливши їх на паперовій викрійці.

Reinforce the pockets in full with interfacing.
Don't forget to make oblique stitch in the corners to have them neat after turning the details out.


Повністю дублюємо кишені.
Не забуваємо робити косий стібок у куточках, щоб вони були охайні після вивертання.

Sew the pockets and flaps in this way.



Пришиваємо кишені і клапани таким чином.

In this way they look in the ready shirt.





Ось так вони виглядають на готовому виробі.

I already told in this project how I sew the collar. All the work I made on the sewing machine. After the collar detail is ready at first I sew the inner part of the collar to the wrong side of the item and then roll the seam allowance and sew the outer part of the collar to the right side of the shirt.





Я вже розповідала в цьому проекті як я пришиваю комір. Всю роботу виконую на машинці. Коли деталь коміра готова, спочатку пришиваю внутрішню частину коміра до зворотної сторони сорочки, потім підвертаю припуск і пришиваю зовнішню частину коміра до лицьової сторони виробу.

The side slits and hem are processed in this way. Firstly when cutting the shirt I added seam allowance for the slit 4 cm (the same as for the hem). So before stitching it is necessary to mark the line and press the first rolling for about 0.5 - 0.7 сm. On the picture you can see it for the slit and for the hem do the same.

Бокові розрізи оброблені таким чином. Перш за все, при розкроюванні я додала припуск на розрізи 4 см, так само як і на підгинку низу. Отже перед початком застрочування треба намітити та припрасувати першу підгинку на 0,5 - 0,7 см. На малюнку ти бачиш як це зробити для бокових розрізів, для нижнього краю робимо те саме.

Then work the corners in the way  they do it for the table cloths.
The technique is pretty known so hope it is clear from the pictures.




Обробляємо кутки так як це робиться для скатертин.
Техніка досить відома, тому сподіваюся з фото все зрозуміло.

Turn the corner out. The rest three corners are processed in the same way.
After that the hem and slits are ready for stitching.



Вивертаємо куток. Так само обробляємо решту куточків.
Після цього можна настрочувати припуски на розрізи та підгинку низу.

The belt loops are easier to make in this way. Fold the edges of the detail to the centre, press. Then fold in a half, press. Top stitch along the both edges. Cut for three loops.



Шлевки для поясу легше зробити так. Скласти до центру краї деталі, припрасувати, скласти ще раз навпіл, припрасувати. Прострочити вздовж обох країв. Розрізати на три частини.

And my shortened sleeve with a false cuff. As the shirt is meant to be worn in summer and I was short of the fabric, I made the false cuff. Probably this technique is known for experienced tailors and I was taught it by my sewing teacher many years ago. So gladly share it here.
First of all you should to define the desired width of the cuff and to add it + 0.5 (0.7) cm for the seam to the length of your sleeve.



І мій вкорочений рукав з фальшивим відворотом. Оскільки сорочку призначено носити влітку та і ткані у мене було мало, я зробила фальшивий відворот. Скоріше за все техніка знайома досвідченим кравчиням, а мене її навчила моя вчитель кравецького ремесла багато років тому. Отже із задоволення нею поділюся.
Перш за все треба визначити бажану ширину відвороту і подовжити на цю ширину викрійку + 0,5 (0,7) см на ширину строчки.

Щоб не перевантажувати допис писаниною, я зробила коротеньке відео як працювати з таким рукавом.

The shirt is very universal and good for combination not only with my favourite shorts but with other things as well and can play a part of a light blazer. For example, it matches red trousers well. To complete the  look I added the necklace and the earrings made last year.






Сорочка дуже універсальна і, крім моїх улюблених шортів, гарно комбінується з іншими речами та може зіграти роль легкого блейзеру. Наприклад, вона гарно пасує до червоних штанів і простого топу. На завершення образу додаю намисто і сережки, які зробила ще минулого року.

Shirt Dress, or Sewed from Memories

The sewing of this outfit started as the first step to realise my chimerical plan not to buy any new meter of the fabric until my stash is over...:-) I can't say the containing of my "hide" is too big and very interesting but something fascinating may be found. I guess the quality of such home supply is defined mostly by the ideas you can carry out with its help and not by the prices and brands of the fabrics you reserved.


Сукня сорочка, або Пошито зі спогадів

Початок роботи над цим вбранням просто мав би бути першим кроком по реалізації мого маячливого плану не купувати жодного нового метру тканини до повного вичерпання... внутрішніх резервів:-) Не можу сказати, що ті запаси такі вже великі та цікаві, але щось гарне можна знайти, до того ж  думаю, що їхня якість визначається можливістю реалізовувати творчі ідеї, а не цінами та брендами наявних тканин.

The pattern #110 made me interested as soon as I saw it in Burda 3/2015. But as I had some doubts about its compatibility with my figure and height, it was decided to use for its sewing something what I had already had and in this way this sateen was chosen. There was 3.5 meters of it, enough for such a garment. And here the first sentiments came to my mind... The fabric was a present from my mum's old friend who once upon a time became mine. She supported me a lot when I lived far from home being a student of a sewing school, besides, many years I spent my summer and winter vacations at her place... I haven't seen her for more than 15 years already but obviously the work with the fabric couldn't help spelling some memories...




Модель №110 зацікавила мене щойно я побачила її в Burda 3/2015. Але оскільки я була не впевнена в її сумісності з моєю фігурою  і зростом, то вирішила, що маю пошити це вбрання з того, що є. Так і було обрано цей сатин, 3,5 метра якого виявилося достатньо для пошиття такої сукні-сорочки. І тут перші сентименти заволоділи моїм сумлінням... Тканина була подарунком від маминої колишньої подруги, яка стала моїм добрим другом. Вона підтримувала мене весь час поки я навчалася в кравецькій школі далеко від дому, і багато років я проводила у неї свої літні та зимові відпустки.  Ми не бачилися більше 15 років, але, звісно, робота з тканиною не могла не навіяти якихось спогадів.

And  while I was thinking over the modifications of the model, the next sentiment just overwhelmed me quite unexpectedly... I decided to apply some finishing to the dress as it is pretty bright and needed some framing.  The mono colour fabric I'd matched for that turned out to be the remnants from my Prom dress (to tell the true, it was meant to be for the Prom but I only cut it then, I sewed it only next year but the name left :-))...  the model was taken from Czechoslovak fashion magazine (either Dievca or Moda... don't remember exactly... I wonder if the magazine is still alive) and had no paper pattern so I drafted it myself... I have neither that dress (gave it to somebody long ago) nor that magazine now but instead I found my picture in that apparel... (the right moment for the sigh... shouldn't I sigh? I guess I haven't changed at all:-))).

А поки я міркувала над змінами до моделі, дуже несподівано нахлинув ще один напад сентиментальності... Я вирішила оздобити сукню якоюсь однокольоровою тканиною, оскільки основна доволі барвиста і потребувала якогось обрамлення. Те, що я підібрала, виявилося залишками від мого шкільного випускного вбрання (насправді, воно мало бути випускним, але тоді я його лише покроїла, пошила вже наступного року, а назва залишилася:-))... Та модель була з чехословацького журналу (або "Dіevca" або "Moda", напевно не пам'ятаю... цікаво чи той журнал ще живий) і не мала викрійки, тому я його конструювала сама... У мене зараз немає ані тієї сукні (віддала комусь кілька років тому), ані того журналу, натомість я знайшла своє фото в тому вбранні... (слушний момент для зітхання... і чого б це я зітхала, я ж ніц не змінилася:-))).

In fact, this model is a shirt dress so has the features of the both kinds of clothing and if the dress part was a quick and simple fun, the shirt - pretty troublesome and took me much more time.
So, cutting. Despite I had enough fabric in length, it is narrow in width (about 95 cm) so I had to refuse from the back pleat. Although I don't think it worsened  the result, maybe it is even better as the fabric is pretty dense.

Фактично, це - сукня-сорочка, тому має ознаки обох видів одягу. І якщо пошиття сукні було швидкою і простою забавкою, пошиття сорочки - досить клопітне зайняття і зайняло набагато більше часу.
Отже, крій. Хоча у мене і було досить тканини в довжину, завширшки вона всього десь 95 см, тому довелося відмовитися від складки по середині спинки. Не думаю, що це погіршило результат, може навіть так і краще, бо тканина  щільна.

What I changed in the pattern - its length. I thought that flying part will be too short if I'm going to wear the dress to work so decided to transfer it  for 12 cm lower along the side and in this way lengthened the dress for the same 12 cm.


Що я змінила в моделі - її довжину. Я подумала, що та відлітна частина буде надто короткою, що носити сукню на роботу, тому перенесла її на 12 см нижче вздовж бокової лінії і так само подовжила сукню на ті самі 12 см.

Besides, as always, to avoid bulging in the middle of the back as my length of the back doesn't correspond the Burda's, I changed the yoke.


Крім того, як завжди, щоб уникнути набігання тканини посередині спинки, оскільки моя довжина спини не відповідає Burda, змінила кокетку.

The first thing I made was the sleeves' plackets. I only made them once a life so considered to be the main pin in the... side. But it turned to be made pretty quick. Such details as separated plackets of any kind, collars and cuffs I always process in the way reversed to the given in the magazine. It means I always start sewing them at first their inside half to the wrong side of the main detail (either sleeve, or front or whatever) and then fold and sew to the right side.

Перше, що я зробила, обробила планку рукава. Я лише один раз в житті її виготовляла, тому вважала головною скалкою в боці. Напрочуд, робота пішла жваво, швидко і без особливих битв з рукавом. Такі деталі, як  будь які окремо покроєні планки, комірці та манжети, я завжди пришиваю в порядку, зворотньому до поданому в журналі. Тобто, спочатку завжди пришиваю внутрішню частину деталі до вивороту основної деталі (рукава, переду, тощо), а потім до лицевої частини.

At first, make a placket.



Спочатку виготовляємо планку.

Then cut the sleeve by the marked line, fold twice, iron and sew.


Потім розрізаємо рукав по нанесеній лінії, двічі підвертаємо, припрасовуємо і пришиваємо.

Now sew the placket to the sleeve. As I've already mentioned, at first to the wrong side, then to the right. Of course, it is my way only, it can be done by  the magazine's instructions as well.


Тепер пришиваємо планку. Як я вже згадувала, спочатку до зворотньої частини, потім до лицевої. Звісно, що це лише мій спосіб. Те саме можна зробити і за інструкцією в журналі.

NB! As it is clear from the picture I haven't got the right-angle placket on the wrong side of the sleeve. It is because I realised much later that the cut and the length of the placket must be the same. Then the triangle between two edges would be included inside the placket. Or the placket should be done shorter.


Тепер, зверни увагу. Як видно з моєї планки, в мене не вийшов рівний прямокутник на звороті, бо я вже потім збагнула, що треба було розріз рукава  робити такої самої довжини, як пришивна планка, а не коротший, тоді б маленький трикутничок між двома краями увійшов в середину планки. Або можна було планку зробити коротшу.

Next step is joining the main parts. Nothing special is here. Follow the instructions and sew the yoke to the back.  But then I work in the above mentioned way. At first I sew the inner yokes to the front parts and then upper ones.

Далі з'єднуємо головні деталі. Тут немає нічого особливого, діємо за інструкцією і спочатку пришиваємо кокетку спинки. А ось тепер я знову роблю,  як згадано вище: спочатку пришиваю внутрішні частини кокетки до передніх половинок, потім - зовнішні.

Now front plackets. I don't like to process these details separated but this time because of  lack of the fabric (to be exact, because of lack of its width to cut them as one single piece) and my wish to add some finishing I had no choice. The button placket is processed in the same way: at first sewed to the wrong side and then to the right.

Тепер планки застібки. Не люблю я обробляти пришивні планки, але через брак тканини (тобто її ширини для цільнокроєних планок) та мого бажання оздобити сукні, вибору у мене не було. З планкою для ґудзиків - жодних проблем. Пришиваємо, як і всі попередні деталі - спочатку до внутрішньої частини детaлі переду, потім до лицевої.

The upper placket is absolutely different. I also processed it in the different from the magazine's way. So nobody shouldn't do the same if he/she doesn't want or like. So work in such an order: at first sew the placket for the button holes along the front edge to the wrong side and then only one edge of the upper one.


Верхня планка - це зовсім інша справа. Я також обробляю її геть в інший спосіб ніж в журналі, тому, якщо комусь мій варіант не подобається, той і не мусить так робити. Отже, робимо в такому порядку: спочатку пришиваємо планку для петель уздовж краю переду зі зворотньої сторони, потім лише один край верхньої частини.

Now make the button holes. And then sew the down placket with holes to the upper across the placket between the button holes. In this way your placket will be steady and you mustn't make any further top stitches to keep it.

Тепер робимо петлі для ґудзиків. А потім пристрочуємо планку з петлями до верхньої частини планки між петлями впоперек планки. таким чином планка вже буде стійкою і не треба потім жодних строчок по верху.

Now cut the seam allowance for the down placket to make the seam thinner and sew the upper placket to the edge of the front part.

Тепер підрізаємо припуск на шов нижньої частини, щоб потоньшити припуск і пришиваємо верхню частину планки вздовж переднього краю лицевої частини переду.

A couple of words about the collar. A piece of advice: after sewing, turning out and top stitching and ironing I recommend to baste the detail in the middle while bend the collar slightly. Іt will help to keep the shape of it when it is ready. And don't  forget to compare the lengths of the front edges of the collar to have them the same.



Декілька слів щодо комірця. Невеличка порада. Після зшивання, вивертання, відстрочування і прасування я б порадила заметати його десь посередині з невеличким закручуванням, це допоможе зберегти його форму.  І не забуваємо перевірити чи однакової довжини краї комірця.

The ready look of the collar (upper and down parts).



Готовий комір виглядає ось так (верхній і нижній).

The collar sewed to the dress in the above mentioned way: at first to the inner side then to the outer.


Комір пришито до сукні в вище згаданий спосіб - спочатку до внутрішньої частини, потім до лицевої.

In the same way sew the cuffs.



В такий самий спосіб пришиваємо манжети.

Can't believe it is ready! Well, let me wear it at once!
At first something more classic - to go to the work. It turned out my old crocheted brooch is the best accessory for this dress. The chrysanthemum was made by this pattern.



Не можу повірити, що я її дошила! Давайте вже вдягати нарешті!
Спочатку щось класичне, щоб ходити на роботу. Виявилося, що найкращим аксесуаром до сукні буде моя давня плетена гачком брошка. Таку хризантему можна сплести за цим зразком.

Now something more relaxed, let's consider it to be not a dress shirt but the tunic. Wear the jeans, made pretty long ago from Burda 2/2007, #120. And add this necklace. Here I am :-)



Тепер щось трохи вільніше, вважатимемо, що це вже не сукня-сорочка, а туніка. Вдягаємо джинси. Пошиті давненько, модель 120 з Burda  2/2007. Додаємо це намисто. А ось і я:-)

I also can try some "folk" idea to embody: the waistcoat by this pattern seems to match the outfit well... Made me think about travelling...


Можна ще і такий собі "фольк" забацати: є у мене  плетена гачком за цією моделлю  желетка. Виглядає гарно.... Щось мене в мандри потягнуло...
