Faux Chrysanthemum Brooch

Yesterday I bought a nice faux flower by chance and today made a brooch of it. I've had that idea on my mind for quite long as I love to decorate clothes with such kind of accessories. I can't say I haven't tried to do that before but the outcome was not successful enough to wear. Then once I saw this video from The Stylish Maker  and thought that it is worth trying again on occasion. As soon as I came across this chrysanthemum, the idea revived and here I am with the brooch :-)

 

Брошка зі штучної хризантеми 

Вчора випадково купила гарну штучну квітку, а сьогодні зробила з неї брошку. У мене давно ця ідея крутилася в голові, тому що мені до вподоби прикрашати одяг такими аксесуарами. Не можу сказати, що я раніше не пробувала це робити, але результат виходив не настільки вдалий, щоб його носити. Потім якось подивилася це відео від The Stylish Maker і вирішила, що при нагоді варто спробувати ще. Щойно натрапила на цю хризантему, ідея ожила і ось я тут з брошкою:-)

Fancy Flower

 

This new flower is very decorative and fancy. I made a brooch of it but, actually, there is no any indicaion of what it meant to be in the kit from Charivna Myt. 

Вигадлива квітка

Ця  нова квітка дуже декоративна і вигадлива. Я з неї зробила брошку, але в наборі від "Чарівної миті" для її виготовлення, жодних вказівок для чого вона призначена немає. 

The process was new for me as I'd never used this kind of technics before. Honestly I enjoyed it and the beading was quite quick. It also could be even quicker if I were less self-confident and more attentive but, fortunately, the final outcome wasn't influenced by the quality of my attention :-)

Процес для мене був новий, оскільки раніше я такою технікою не користувалася. Мені сподобалося і плетіння виявилося дуже швидким. А могло би бути ще швидшим якби я була менш самовпевненою і більш уважною, але до кінцевого результату особливості моєї уваги стосунку не мають :-)

To make a brooch I attached the petals to the brooch base. Alike process I used for making  my Chrysanthemum Brooch many years ago. The ready piece is quite heavy so I guess if I ever wear it, it would be an accessory for a jacket or a coat. I also can imagine it as a focal part for a choker.

Для виготовлення брошки пришила пелюстки до основи броши. Схожу техніку колись застосовувала для виготовлення моєї брошки "Хризантема" багато років тому. Готова прикраса доволі важкенька, тож думаю, якщо колись її надягатиму, то це буде аксесуар для жакета або пальта.  Також можу уявити її як декор для чокеру.

Beaded Hibiscus, Stylization II

I already made one stylised flower of hibiscus two years ago. It was an element of a bracelet. Yesterday I tried one more variant of beading the flower by Kerrie Slade's pattern from Bead&Button magazine, April 2008. It is different but surprisingly reminds the hibiscus flower anyway:-) The pattern is simple and clear, took me about 5 hours to make. I intended to use this flower as an element for a brooch. But it turned out to be quite heavy for that, at least for a summer outfits so I will have to change my plan and make a pendant. 

Плетений з бісеру гібіскус, або Стилізація ІІ

Я вже робила стилізовану квітку гібіскуса два роки тому. Це був елемент браслету. Вчора спробувала ще один варіант цієї сплетеної з бісеру квітки, модель з журналу Bead&Button, April 2008 від Kerrie Slade. Вона геть відрізняється, але, на диво, все ж таки нагадує квітку гібіскуса :-) Модель проста і зрозумілий, на виготовлення пішло десь 5 годин.  Квітка мала стати елементом брошки, але виявилася заважкою, принаймні для літнього вбрання, тож доведеться змінити наміри і зробити кулон.

The flower was beaded with two colours of Czech seed beads 10.0. because I didn't have enough seed beads of one colour. For the stamen 4 mm pearls are used.

Квітку сплетено двома кольорами чеського бісеру №10, тому що достатньої кількості одного кольору у мене не було. Для плодоніжки згодилися перлини 4 мм.

Poppies Field (Cross Stitching), or Irony of the Choice

I thought this event would never happen in my needlework life. It is prominent indeed for my personal collection of cross stitching pictures :-) Because I finished the one started about eight years ago! I tried to finish it few times but postponed and postponed and postponed again... I remember very well the beginning.

Я думала, ця подія в моєму рукотворному житті вже ніколи не трапиться. Вона і справді видатна для моєї особистої колекції картин вишитих хрестиком :-) Тому що я закінчила одну з них, розпочату біля восьми років тому! Декілька разів я намагалася завершити цю роботу, але відкладала, відкладала і знову відкладала... Дуже добре пам'ятаю, як все починалося. 

By that time I'd had three splendid cross stitched landscapes, two Winters and one Spring, absolutely stunning and the most complicated work I had ever done before. And I thought about going on with Summer or Autumn. Then I thought which landscape I would like to have in front of my eyes if, for example, left Ukraine. And thus I chose this one. Soon after finishing the picture, in the Internet I came across the paintings which probably inspired the author of my pattern. They were few interpretations of fields with poppies by Paul Guy Gantner, a Korean artist who painted in France! 

На той момент у мене було три чудових вишитих пейзажі, дві "Зими" і одна "Весна", цілком надзвичайна  і найскладніша робота, яку я колись вишивала. І я розмірковувала над продовженням теми "Осінню" чи "Літом". Тоді я подумала, який би пейзаж я хотіла бачити перед очима, якщо б, до прикладу, залишила Україну. Ось так і обрала цю картину. Незабаром по закінченню роботи в Інтернеті я натрапила на полотна, які, напевно, надихнули автора моєї схеми. Це були декілька інтерпретацій полів з маками Поля Гая Гантнера, корейського художника, який творив у Франції! 

Anyway I love poppies. Their life is very short but very bright. During several days of their blossoming they seem to saturate as much or even more warmth and light as other flowers for weeks. Poppy, for me, is the flower radiating life... 

Як би там не було, все одно я люблю маки. Життя їхнє дуже коротке, але дуже яскраве. Протягом декількох днів цвітіння вони, здається, вбирають стільки ж, а може і більше, тепла і світла, скільки інші квіти за тижні. Мак, для мене, це квітка, яка випромінює життя...

Poinsettia Scarf (Crochet)

The scarf is not new but, as it is as symbolic as any other Christmas feature for me, I decided to write a couple of words about it. The reason is simple. The last day of Christmas, which is on January 19 here, promised to be full of fun. I was invited to celebrate it with my friends who do bathe into the winter river on this day. It is a tradition connected with the Baptism of Jesus which is called here Vodokhreshche or Jordan (after the name of the River). Despite I am pretty old I have never taken part in that so would join the company with pleasure at least as a spectator:-) But I got a cold and had to stay at home so, to entertain myself, decided to devote a post to this Poinsettia scarf which I wear during all the festive month from December 19 to January 19. 

On the photo the scarf is paired with the green dress from the previous post.

Шарф "Пуансетія" (гачком)

Шарф не новий, але, оскільки для мене є такою самою ознакою Різдва як і будь який інший його символ, я вирішила написати про нього пару слів. Причина проста. Водохреще цього року обіцяло бути веселим. Перший раз мене запросили відсвяткувати його з друзями, які справді в цей день купаються у зимовій річці. Хоча мені і багато років, я таке бачила лише в телевізорі, тож із задоволенням приєдналася б до товариства хоча б у якості глядача:-) Але я дуже застудилася і мала залишитися вдома, тож, щоб розважити себе і вирішила присвятити допис цьому шарфові, з такою гарною назвою "Пуансетія", який я надягаю весь святковий місяць з 19 грудня до 19 січня. 

На фото шарф доповнює зелену сукню з попереднього допису.

The scarf was crocheted many years ago, to be exact seven... Oh!... I knew it because on the Ravelry all the projects are dated. Its age only says about its quality because the scarf still looks beautiful, attracts attention and makes the spirit bright:-) The pattern from Kim Guzman can be taken here now. The scarf looks very festive and decorative indeed but it is not so warm as it wish to be. So to protect the neck from cold, it is desirable to wear some turtle neck sweater under the coat, then the scarf will be good to wear not only with a dress:-)

Шарф сплетений багато років тому... сім... Ого!... це точно... Я це знаю, тому що на Ravelry всі роботи датовані. Його вік промовляє на його користь та про його якість, тому що шарф все ще привертає увагу та підтримує святковий настрій:-) Зараз цю модель від Kim Guzman можна загрузити звідси. Шарф насправді виглядає дуже нарядно і святково, але він не такий теплий як хотілося б. Тому, щоб захистити шию від холоду, бажано вдягати светр з коміром гольф під пальто, тоді шарф можна надягати не лише із сукнею:-)

While crocheting I made some changes. Firstly, I remember that I was excited with the work that made 12 motifs so my scarf is longer than the sample pattern. Secondly, let me quote from my Ravelry profile, I added an extra row that "made the square look neater: sc in every stitch of the last row and 5 sc in every corner tr. Besides, I also crocheted the edging: began with 4ch in the corner dtr, 1dc in the first loop of the chain, skip two sc of the last row, repeat". And, thirdly, I had no idea about the beading in those times and it cohfused me so my scarf has no beads inside the centre of the flowers. 

Поки я його плела, трохи змін додалося. По-перше, мене це тоді так захопило, що я сплела 12 мотивів, тому мій шарф довший ніж у зразку. По-друге, процитую з мого допису на Ravelry, "я додала ряд, завдяки чому квадрат виглядає охайніше: сбн в кожний ст останнього ряду і 5 сбн в кожний куток з стз1н. Крім того, шарф я обв'язала по краю: почала з 4 петель ланцюжку в кутовий стз2н, 1 стз1н в першу петлю ланцюжка, пропустити 2 стбн останнього ряду, повторити". І, по-третє, в ті часи я нічого не знала про бісероплетіння, воно мене бентежило, тому мій шарф не має бісерин в середині квіток.

These were very nice holidays. I guess I am ready to start dreaming about the next :-)

Ці свята були справді гарними... Думаю, я вже готова мріяти про наступні :-)

Maple Leaves Pillow, or Autumn in the House

A couple of weeks ago, I tried to arrange the clothes in my wardrobe to keep summer and winter items separately and to avoid the permanent threat of having a broken hanger bar. I know some good girls do it regularly, but I managed it the first time. During the process, I found a small pillow that had been bought long ago but forgotten until the right moment. That moment came today in the morning when I decided it was time to sew a pillow case for that cushion using the crocheted maple leaves.

Подушка "Кленове листя"

Пару тижнів тому я намагалася впорядкувати одяг в своєму гардеробі, щоб тримати літні і зимові речі окремо і уникати постійної загрози зламаної штанги для вішалок. Знаю, що деякі хороші дівчата роблять це постійно, але я цим зайнялася вперше.  В процесі було знайдено маленьку подушку, куплену давно, але забуту до певного моменту. Цей момент наступив сьогодні вранці, коли я вирішила, що вже час пошити для цієї подушки наволочку, прикрашену сплетеним гачком кленовим листям.

The pillow is about 39x39 cm, remnants of thin coat fabric, a zipper (it is better to have as long as the width of the pillow, but I only had a shorter one to match, so I used it), and the motifs for the decor, in fact, they will be appliqué.
Cut two squares 40х40 cm + seam allowance (double-folded fabric). On one of the squares, which is supposed to be the front, mark the centre of the pillow case to control the arrangement of the motifs.



Подушка приблизно 39х39 см, залишки тонкої пальтової тканини, блискавка (краще довжиною сторони подушки, але у мене була коротша, тож я використала її), мотиви для оздоблення, фактично, це буде аплікація.
Вирізаємо два квадрати 40×40 см + припуски на шви (тканина складена вдвоє). На одному з квадратів, який буде передньою частиною, відмічаємо центр наволочки, щоб контролювати розташування мотивів.

The next step is to arrange the motifs. They can be either basted to the pillow or pinned if the details' textures are not smooth. I started with the bigger leaf, pinned it, then stitched. Then, I did the same with the smaller one.



Наступний крок - розташування мотивів. Їх можна або намітати, або закріпити булавками, якщо текстури матеріалів не гладенькі. Спочатку я пришпилила і настрочила більший лист, потім - менший.

Then I took a break because it became obvious that the picture needed some bright spot to be enlivened. So I crocheted five yellow puffy flowers and added them to the composition. The flowers are stitched along the green circle and thus create a 3-D effect.



Потім довелося перервати роботу, тому що картині, вочевидь, не вистачало, якогось яскравого елементу для пожвавлення. композиції. Тож я сплела гачком п'ять пухнастих квіточок. Настрочила вздовж зеленого кола, що створило об'єм.

Now it's time to sew the zipper.




Тепер втачуємо блискавку.

The last step is to join both parts of the pillowcase. Before stitching, don't forget to leave the zipper open to turn out the item.



Останній крок - з'єднати обидві частини наволочки. Перед зшиванням не забуваємо залишити блискавку відкритою, щоб потім можна було наволочку вивернути.

That's the way how autumn looks in the house :-)

Ось так і виглядає осінь у будинку :-)

Crocheted Puffy Flowers

In addition to the Maple Leaves I've crocheted  few Puff Flowers today because, while sewing the pillow case, I felt the lack of some bright spot on its decor. So after looking through my long ago queued projects on Ravelry I chose these Puffy Daisies. In fact, the flowers are made with a puff stitch that creates such a nice volume. But my flowers are not so puffy as for my yarn the hook was too small and  it was troubling to make more yokes for the petals without harming the thread. On the other hand, I didn't want to have too big daisies not to let them dominate on the pillow. So they are a little more modest than in the pattern. 

Пухнасті квіточки гачком

В доповнення до Кленових листочків сьогодні сплела декілька пухнастих квіточок, тому що, поки шила наволочку, відчула, що декору подушки не вистачає якоїсь яскравої "родзинки". Тож, переглянувши багато років тому складену чергу проектів на Ravelry, вибрала ці Puffy Daisies. Насправді, вони пухнасті бо сплетені таким стовпчиком (puff stitch), не пам'ятаю, як він називається нашими термінами, але утворюється він завдяки чергуванню накидів і витягнутих петель, що і формує такий гарний об'єм пелюсток. Проте, мої квітки не таки пухнасті, тому що використаний гачок замалий для цієї пряжі і було трохи проблематично додавати більше накидів без пошкодження нитки. З іншого боку, не хотілося, щоб квіточки були величенькі і домінували в декорі подушки. Тож вони тут набагато скромніші ніж на зразку.

Peyote Brooch, or Autumn Walk

I've looked through my autumn posts not to repeat occasionally some bright thoughts about the season which I already shared  before (it can happen, of course, if our mood and atittiude to different things don't change). There are few posts inspired by the season colours and I found two of them depicting how I feel in autumn. One post devoted to this pair of earrings and another to this floral coat. 
I already thought that I have nothing new to say but then imagined an ideal autumn walk in the park or along quiet empty streets planted with old trees whose branches create colurful arches. And then I remembered how much I liked to gather those nice leaves. And it is exactly what I tried to do here, in my new project. I mean to gather autumn colours in a bunch as it is so easy to be an artist in this time of year!  

Брошка в техніці пейот, або Осіння прогулянка.

Переглядала свої осінні дописи, щоб випадково не повторити якісь з моїх яскравих думок про цю пору року, якими я вже  ділилася раніше (це, звісно, може трапитися, якщо наш настрій і ставлення до різних речей не змінюється). Є декілька дописів, натхненних кольорами осені, і я знайшла два з них про те, як я восени почуваюся. Один з них присвячений цим сережкам, а інший - цьому квітчастому пальту.
І вже подумала, що нічого нового мені не сказати, але потім уявила собі ідеальну осінню прогулянку в парку або здовж тихих пустельних вулиць обсаджених старими деревами чиї гілки утворили мальовничі арки. І потім я згадала як мені подобалося збирати те гарне листя. І це якраз те, що я спробувала зробити  в цьому новому проекті. Маю на увазі - зібрати осінні кольори в жмуток, адже восени так легко бути художником!

The idea and the pattern of the leaves were taken here. But I changed the way of assembling the brooch, and after making 2 -3 leaves, it was easy to understand how to change the pattern, too, to make new kinds of leaves. 
For my project, I used cut beads and seed beads of don't-know-how-many colours.



Ідея і схема листя були знайдені тут. Але я змінила спосіб з'єднання елементів, і після того, як зробила 2-3 листи, стало зрозуміло, як можна змінити і схему самого листа.
Для свого проєкту використала бісер і рубку, не знаю, скількох кольорів.

To decorate the brooch, I used only one big rondelle and a few pieces of wire. It seemed to be more elegant than to add many small beads because the leaves are very motley themselves.




Для декорування брошки використала лише один великий рондель і декілька відрізків дроту. Так мені здалося елегантніше, ніж додавати багато дрібних намистин, тому що листя і так дуже строкате.

Brooch for a Friend, or Autumn Rosy Chants

Since my last Rosy Chants more than two years passed and suddenly I thought about this colour again. This time it was provoked by my friend's image when I saw her wearing rosy items of clothes. She looked so lovely... younger, more gentle and very feminine. The colour surely suited her. And at once I decided to make a gift for her using the beads of those hues. A small brooch was my choice because I wanted to make something  to match easily to any kind of clothes from a blouse to a sweater.

 

Брошка для подруги, або Рожевий наспів восени

З часу мого останнього Рожевого наспіву минуло вже більше двох років і раптом я знову подумала про цей колір. Цього разу думки спричинив образ моєї подруги, коли я побачила на ній рожеві речі. Вона виглядала такою милою... молодшою, ніжнішою і дуже жіночною. Колір їй дуже личив. І одразу вирішила зробити для неї прикрасу з бісеру таких відтінків. Обрала брошку, тому що хотілося створити щось що пасувало б до будь якого одягу від блузки до светру.

To make the brooch I used the technique of beading peyote leaves. It is not new for me and I already can do that by heart. I already made such leaves for this necklace and this brooch.
This fact doesn't mean I didn't need to be attentive and didn't think about arranging of the elements. It took time!
After sewing the leaves to the base, the middle was filled with crystals of different sizes, shapes and colours. To mask the base the gaps were filled with seed beads picots.

Для виготовлення брошки скористалася технікою нанизування пейоточного листя. Це для мене не нове і я це вже можу робити напам'ять. Таке листя я робила для цього намиста і для цієї брошки.
Але цей факт не означає, що мені можна було бути неуважною і не думати про те, як краще скомпонувати елементи. На це такі пішов час!
Після пришивання листя до основи, серединку заповнила кристалами різних кольорів, форм і розмірів. Пробіли заповнила піко з бісеру.

Then underneath I added loops with one row of peyote stitch, wanted to make few more rows but then refused from doing that not to  make the brooch to heavy.



Потім під низом додала петлі з бісеру з одним рядом пейоточного стібка. Хотіла додати декілька, але передумала, щоб не зробити брошку надто важкою.

And here it is. It is so good that there is a colour that adds some girlish touch to our looks not depending on our age.

Ось така вона. Так добре, що є колір, який завжди додає такий собі штрих дівочості до нашого образу незалежно від нашого віку.

Flower Bracelet, or Stylization

Today is the first day of my vacation. And it is almost evening of it... I don't feel I am free yet, few days are needed to start enjoying it and to want to have something else around but silence.
And all said above doesn't relate the new project... just reasoning aloud:-)
One of the first terms I learnt at school Art lessons was stylization (also possible it is the only term I remember:-)). Now I am old and prone to imply more figurative sense in it but when it goes about beading this term has no interpretation. For example, the flowers of this bracelet can be associated with any flower we can find around: from daisy to rose, thanking to the colour style and the shape of the petals and the author connected it with a hibiscus... probably because its stamen gives no chance to other flowers.

Квітковий браслет, або Стилізація

Сьогодні перший день моєї відпустки. І вже майже його вечір... Ще не відчуваю, що я вільна, декілька днів потрібно, щоб почати цим насолоджуватися і щоб хотіти відчути навколо ще щось  крім тиші.
Все вище згадане не має стосунку до мого нового проекту... просто роздуми вголос:-)
Один з перших термінів, який я вивчила на шкільних уроках малювання був "стилізація" (можливо також, він єдиний, який я пам'ятаю:-)). Зараз я доросла і схильна вкладати в нього більш образний сенс, але коли йдеться про нанизування, цей термін жодних інтерпретацій не має. Наприклад, завдяки кольоровій гамі та формі пелюсток квіти на цьому браслеті можуть асоціюватися з будь якою квіткою, яку можна знайти: від маргаритки до троянди, а ось автор пов'язала її з                                                                                                                            гібіскусом, мабуть тому, що його плодоніжка не залишила                                                                                                                      шансів іншим квітам.

I saw many bracelets of the kind, I mean with the wire framework. I like them so wanted to try to make. This is my first attempt and hope it won't be the last. The pattern by Scarlett Lanson from Beadwork April/May 2009. It was preferred, of course, to match one of the next sewing projects. I beaded with 10.0 seed beads and when sewing all the parts together, also used only bigger seed beads. First flower's petals are not connected tight so I had to add two stamens to cover the holes and when joined the petals of the second flower, just sewed the beaded beads without 15.0. In this way the result was better and one stem was enough.

Я бачила багато браслетів такого типу, тобто на дротяному каркасі. Вони мені подобаються, тож хотілося спробувати зробити. Це моя перша спроба, сподіваюся - не остання. Модель від Scarlett Lanson з "Beadwork" квітень/травень 2009. Звісно, я надала їй перевагу тому, що це доповнення до однієї з майбутніх суконь. Працювала з бісером №10 і, коли зшивала всі пелюстки до купи, не використовувала менший номер. Пелюстки першої квітки не з'єдналися достатньо щільно, тому я додала дві плодоніжки, щоб прикрити дірки і коли зшивала другу квітку, просто зшила намистини між собою без бісеру №15. Це дало кращий результат і тому одної плодоніжки було достатньо.

What I learnt from the project - I am skillful enough to predict what will be wrong with the project:-)
When I started the beading, I thought it would be better to use plastic beads because the pearls are too heavy and I don't know how stiff the wire must be to keep the flowers and not let the bracelet to move down. I didn't replace the beads but consoled with the right thought:-) I decided to use memory wire.  After trying the ready bracelet on, I fell in love with it but to make it look in the way I had imagined, I added a magnetic clasp. So my bracelet is not bangle but it stays in the wrist where I want.
NB! When sewing the flowers to the framework, extra attention is necessary otherwise you will remake it as I did.

Чого мене навчив цей проект - я достатньо кваліфікована, щоб передбачати, що буде не так з проектом:-)
Коли я розпочала  працювати над браслетом, подумала, що було б краще використати пластикові намистини, тому що перлини надто важки і я не знаю, наскільки жорсткою має бути дріт, щоб утримати квіти і не дозволяти браслетові сповзати вниз. Намистини я не замінила, але потішилася своєю здогадкою:-) Використала дріт з пам'яттю. Після примірки браслету я в нього закохалася, проте, щоб він виглядав на руці так, як я собі уявляла, довелося додати магнітну застібку. Тож браслет мій з застібкою, але він сидить на зап'ястку там, де я хочу.
NB! Пришиваючи квіти до основи необхідна додаткова увага інакше доведеться це переробляти так, як довелося мені.

Flower of Chaos Earrings

If my previous project could be named mystic on the obvious reason of my perception of the bracelet's pattern, this one is even more mysterious... I'd rather call it of chaotic origin because these earrings were created in some puzzling way:-)
As it often happens with my jewelry, the bracelet wanted a pair of earrings not to feel alone. And I couldn't help making that, firstly because I like making earrings and secondly, because I had enough leftover materials to make a set... or two:-)



Сережки "Квітка хаосу"

Якщо мій попередній проект можна було назвати загадковим з простої причини мого сприйняття моделі того браслету, то цей ще більш загадковий... я б навіть назвала його народженим з хаосу, тому що ця пара сережок була створена в якійсь незбагненний спосіб:-)
Як це часто трапляється з моїми прикрасами, браслет
зажадав собі до пари сережки, щоб не почуватися самотнім і я не могла їх не зробити по-перше, тому що мені подобається робити  сережки, а по-друге, тому що у мене залишилося достатньо матеріалів, щоб зробити набір...або два :-)

How it was. I thought as the bracelet was made in herringbone, the natural idea is to make the earrings in the same technique. I have enough experience to understand that using a simple scheme of the alike flower and changing the number of seed beads between the "bones", anybody can make a lot of different flowers on own taste. I've got such flower (the colour of the beads is not right, they are not lilac but almost dark purple in real).



Як це було. Я подумала, оскільки браслет зроблений в техніці "ндебеле", то природно і сережки зробити в такій самій техніці. У мене вже достатньо досвіду, щоб розуміти, що використовуючи схему подібної квітки та змінюючи кількість бісерин між "парами" ндебеле, можна наплести багато різних квіточок на власний смак. У мене вийшла така квітка (колір бісеру на фото не відповідає дійсності, в житті він не бузковий, а майже темно-фіолетовий).

Then I thought that flower had nothing in common with my bracelet except the red seed beads. So yet I came back to the same materials and made the different element which  immediately was decided to use for some necklace.




Потім я подумала, що ця квітка не має нічого спільного з браслетом крім червоного бісеру. Тож я все ж таки використала ті самі матеріали і зробила новий елемент, який одразу ж було вирішено залучити до виготовлення якогось намиста.

Then I suddenly remembered about few small, 8 mm, purple rivolis in my stash. They turned out to match perfectly the prepared materials and I bezeled them like in this project.



Потім я раптом згадала, що у мене десь є декілька маленьких, 8 мм, ріволі фіолетового кольору. Вони чудово підійшли до підготованих матеріалів і я їх оплела як в цьому проекті.

One of the rivolis I used as a middle for the herringbone flower... A new one, made in quite chaotic way. I started beading the petals from the loops of four seed beads. Then I beaded few more rows from the back of the petals to make it... fluffier. But the flowers actually don't have exact pattern because I didn't add the beads step in step. I also enlarged the petals adding the beads between the "bones". So the final flower is not perfectly shaped but it is what I like about it, no symmetry.

Один з ріволі я використала як серединку для квітки ндебеле... Вже нової, зробленої в доволі хаотичний спосіб. Почала плести пелюстки ндебеле з дужок в 4 бісерини. Потім сплела ще декілька рядів розпочавши зі зворотньої сторони пелюсток, щоб квітка була пишнішою. Але, насправді, квітки не мають певної схеми, тому що я не додавала бісерини однаково. Також для розширення пелюсток додавала бісерини між "парами" ндебеле. Тож остаточна квітка не має досконалої форми, але це мені в ній і подобається, жодної симетрії.

Of the all the work the most complex part was to compile all the elements... mostly I mean joining the flower to the rest. I am still not sure if I made it properly: I haven't tried on the earrings yet, as I had no choice but stick the flower to the earring bases and the glue is not dried yet. And because of the wrong free shape of the flower it was not easy to find the way to make the loop to add the dangles.
So if I have nice outcome, I'll only know tomorrow... or, to be exact, today in the morning:-)



Найскладнішим етапом в усій роботі виявилося з'єднання всіх елементів, переважно маються на увазі приєднання квітів до решти. Все ще не впевнена, що зробила це правильно: я ще сережки не міряла - оскільки у мене не було вибору крім як приклеїти квіти до основ сережок, а клей ще не висох. А через неправильну вільну форму квітки, було нелегко зробити петлю, щоб додати підвіски.
Тож чи матиму гарний результат, буде відомо лише завтра...чи точніше, сьогодні вранці:-)

Chrysanthemum Brooch

I like chrysanthemums very much... Their refined and durable beauty, their resistance to any bad weather, their aroma, which is so tart and mature as if it absorbed  the scents of all the seasons together in itself - all mixed and combined very harmonically. And it is quite hard to say "good bye" to their beauty because after their fading the hope for warm and sunny days disappears. So not to be put into the depression either literally or figuratively by this time of year, let's try to prolong chrtsanthemums' bloom:-)

Брошка "Хризантема"

Дуже люблю хризантеми... Їхня вишукана і стійка краса, протидія будь який негоді, їхній аромат - такий терпкий і зрілий, наче увібрав у себе всі пахощі року одразу - все поєднується так гармонійно. Квіти, з красою яких не хочеться прощатися, бо щойно зів'януть - зникне і надія на теплі і сонячні дні. І так доречно, що їхня пора наступає саме зараз. Тож, щоб цей час не заганяв в депресію ані буквально, ані  фігурально, спробуємо подовжити цвітіння хризантем.

The project was enjoyable both with the result and process because started from the simple idea to use Preciosa Solo, or Super Uno beads as for the centre of the ring as I saw in this tutorial. But surprisingly it was finished with creating of my own brooch and ring, that needed no Solo at all :-)
So, to start my beading improvisation I gathered all the purple materials I have.

Проект порадував і результатом і процесом, тому що розпочався з простої ідеї використати Preciosa Solo (або Super Uno) як для серединки каблучки в цьому МК. Але, і це мене завжди дивує, закінчився створенням власної брошки і каблучки, в якому ті  Solo і не знадобилися:-)
Отже, щоб розпочати мою імпровізацію з намистинам, спочатку зібрала всі фіолетові матеріали, які в мене є.

The ring in the mentioned tutorial has petals from beads. I had nothing in common in my stash so just decided to bead the petals from different seed beads. One more pleasant surprise with the project - I used only stashed materials and bought nothing new for it (it is a wow moment indeed:-))
The first step required 8/0 and triangles. To make the petals I chose herringbone technique, started the beading right from the brooch base.

Каблучка у вище згаданому МК має пелюстки з намистин. У мене нічого схожого не було, тому я вирішила просто сплести пелюстки з бісеру. Ще один приємний сюрприз проекту - використала лише матеріали з запасів і нічого не докупала (це вже і справді сюрприз:-))
Перший етап задіяв бісер 8/0 та трикутний. Пелюстки сплетені технікою ндебеле, нанизувала прямо з основи для брошки.

After the first row of the petals was ready, finished them with 3 mm round crystals.


Після того, як перший ряд пелюсток був готовий, додала 3 мм кристали для оздоблення.

On this stage the flower was not very thick so I added one more row of the same petals but beaded them under the first row. On the photo all the row is from triangle seed beads but when it was ready, I changed my mind and re-made from the 8/0 and two green cut beads. Green - because it occurred to me it could be in use if I suddenly wanted to add some leaves to the flower later.


На цьому етапі квітка не була достатньо пишною, тому я додала ще один ряд пелюсток, але нанизувала їх під перший ряд. На фото цей ряд з трикутного бісеру, але коли він був готовий, я передумала і переробила його з основного бісеру 8/0 і двох бісерин зеленої рубки. Зеленої - тому що подумала, раптом мені згодом захочеться додати якесь листя до квітки, то початок вже є.

Next is inside row of the petals. It is started with triangle seed beads and continued with 8/0. It is beaded shorter and finished with arches form one 15/0 seed bead, one 10/0 seed bead and one 15/0.



Наступний - внутрішній ряд пелюсток. Він починається з трикутного бісеру, потім продовжений 8/0. Сплетений коротшим, закінчила його арками з трьох бісерин - 15/0, 10/0 і 15/0.

The last stage of the brooch beading - fill in the centre with solo (super uno). The way is free. I added both by one/two solos and with 10/0 seed beads underneath.


Останній етап нанизування - заповнення серединки квітки супер уно (соло). Спосіб вільний. Я додавала і по одній/дві намистині соло і з 10/0 під них.

To have the brooch ready glued the piece of thick fabric to the brooch base and then the pin.


Для повної готовності брошки наклеїла шматочок товстої тканини до основи і потім застібку.

The ring and the brooch created a nice, delicate (the brooch is only about 5 cm in diameter) and pretty universal set that matches a lot of outfits. The items can be worn separately as well and I think both of them will look good with these earrings.

Каблучка і брошка утворили гарний делікатний (брошка лише біля 5 см в діаметрі) і доволі універсальний набір, який пасуватиме до багатьох речей. Предмети можна носити і окремо і думаю обидва добро підійдуть до цих сережок.
Отже, щасливої, довгої і прекрасної усім нам пори цвітіння хризантем:-)
