Pearl in the Shell Brooch

 

Pearls and shells are quite popular motifs, or symbols when talking about a sea. For example, one of our cities has the nickname Pearl at the Sea, it is Odesa, a beautiful place not so far from mine. One more known for everybody who has ever had a rest in Chornomorsk pearl is a small sculpture in their park along the coast. I saw it last summer while spending few days there. I guess these facts are enough to be inspired to make a brooch with the same motif.

Брошка "Мушля з перлиною" 

Мотиви, чи то символи перлини і мушлі доволі популярні, коли ведеться розмова про море. Наприклад, всі ми знаємо місто з призвіськом "Перлина у моря", в якому багато хто з нас буває влітку. Ще одна відома всім хто колись відпочивав у Черноморську перлина - це маленька скульптура в їхньму парку уздовж моря. Я її побачила минулого літа, коли проводила там декілька днів відпустки. Думаю цих фактів достатньо, щоб надихнутися на створення брошки з таким самим мотивом.

As it is not my first brooch by Charivna Myt kits, the work wasn't hard but there is a certain embarrassing moment. On the middle photo of the brooch, I marked with red the spots where any seed beads but 15.0 could be placed. The bugle in the middle also was too long so I replaced it with a cut bead. Without sewing them on, the black drawings of the scheme look as if the piece is dirty. I have such beads but not everybody does. The ready brooch is beautiful and looks elegant. 

Оскільки це не перша моя брошка з набору "Чарівної миті", робота була нескладна, але був один трохи обтяжливий момент. На середньому фото брошки червоним відмітила місця, де жодну бісерину крім №15.0 пришити не можна. Стеклярус по середині теж був задовгий, тому замінила його на рубку. Не пришивати всі ці бісерини не можна, тому що на тих пустотах залишалися мітки схеми, які створювали враження, що виріб брудний. У мене такий бісер є, але ж не у всіх. Готова брошка красива і виглядає елегантно.

Pleated Jersey Dress, or Spring Spontaneity

It happens quite rarely when I am in tune with a fresh Burda issue. I mean not often I sew something right after buying the magazine. There were occasions when I bought the fabric for the pattern from some being awaited new one but five fingers are enough to count such occasions. As we are still on quarantine, and it seems to last forever, several months ago I broke the rule not to buy fabrics just in case. So my stash was enlarged a lot with new materials purchased on sale. They differ, sometimes a lot, in their colour style, print, quality, texture and size but I sure like all of them. Such stash expansion let me sew this new dress from March issue so quickly not because I had planned it but because I was inspired by the article about spring colour style on our Ukrainian Burda site and it occurred to me that I surely could make something gentle and airy at once. In this way, this romantic outfit was born  :-) 

As it was spontaneous sewing, I don't have special jewelry to match the dress so I chose "Twilight" earrings to complete the outfit. I also think some of the green colour will be good as well. 

Трикотажна сукня зі складками, або Весняна спонтанність 

Вкрай зрідка трапляється, що я встигаю за свіженькими числами Burda. Маю на увазі, що не часто шию щось щойно придбавши журнал. Бували випадки, коли купувала тканину для моделі з якогось очікуваного нового випуску, але пальців однієї руки вистачить, щоб таки випадки порахувати. Оскільки ми все ще на карантині, і здається це триватиме тепер завжди, декілька місяців тому я відступила від свого правила не купувати тканин про всяк випадок. Тож мої запаси значно збільшилися з купівлею відрізів з розпродажів. Вони різняться, і дуже помітно, за кольором, візерунком, якістю, текстурою і за розміром, але всі вони мені подобаються. Тож така експансія тканин дозволила так швидко пошити мені цю сукню з березневого числа Burda не тому, що я це планувала, а тому що мене надихнула стаття на нашому українському сайті Burda про весняну кольорову гаму і я одразу подумала, що зможу зробити щось ніжне і невагоме. Ось так і народилося це романтичне вбрання:-) 

Оскільки пошиття було спонтанним, у мене немає спеціальних прикрас до цієї сукні. Доповнила її сережками "Таємниця сутінків". Думаю, дуже добре сюди пасувало б щось зеленого кольору. 

I  still don't know if I like this model:-) But the way I look and feel in this dress is awesome :-) Dress #103 from Burda 3/2021. The sewing is quick and simple, besides, the pattern has a tutorial in the magazine. My dress made of polyester jersey. I had 176 cm x 1.60 m. I lengthened the dress for about 5 cm and lined it. I also refused from a zipper as the dress is quite loose. 

Я все ще не знаю чи подобається мені ця модель:-) Але мені точно до смаку як виглядаю і почуваюся в цій сукні :-) Сукні 103 з Burda 3/2021. Пошиття швидке і просте, до того ж до моделі поданий майстер клас. Мій варіант пошитий з поліестерового трикотажу. У мене було 176 см х 1,60 м. сукню подовжила десь на 5 см і посадила на підкладку. Також обійшлася без блискавки: сукня достатньо вільна. 

The first tip is about joining shoulder edges. They are basted with slight gathering on the back and stitched on the front. 

Перше зауваження стосується плечових зрізів. Вони зметуються з легкою посадкою по спинці, зшиваються по пілочці. 

The cutting of the lining took some time as I wanted to simplify it to avoid making pleats. The back was cut by the given draft and the front was changed. I narrowed the front along the waist for about 4-5 cm (the width of one pleat) and on the bottom cut it for the whole width of the lining fabric which is just 75 cm. I saw such narrow lining fabric first time in my life.

На крій підкладки пішов час, оскільки хотілося його спростити, щоб уникнути складок. Спинку покроїла за основною викрійкою, а пілочку змінила. Звузила її на 4-5 см (на ширину однієї складки), а понизу вирізала на всю ширину підкладкової тканини яка завширшки лише 75 см. Таку вузьку підкладку побачила вперше в житті. 

The lining was joined with the facings and then joined with the dress. In the centre back seam the slit is about 10 cm. The dress is fastened with a loop and an inside button. 

Підкладку з'єднала з обшивками і потім з'єднала з сукнею. По центру спинки розріз приблизно 10 см. Сукня застібається на петлю і внутрішній ґудзик. 

I also decided the dress will look better with shoulder pads. 

Також я вирішила, що сукня краще виглядатиме з плечовими накладками. 

Only when all mentioned above was ready my mum pinned the lining right on me to shape it for the best fitting. I stitched and pressed these darts. 

Лише коли все вище згадане було готове мама прямо на мені заколола підкладку булавками, щоб надати їй форму для кращої посадки. Ці виточки я застрочила і запрасувала. 

Tweed Paisley Dress

 

I have made a new dress. This garment contents some not my things. For example, not my colour style. I am the one who likes colour and this fabric has none in fact. But the longer I sewed it the more I liked the fabric both on the right and wrong side. The print pattern is not my to some degree either. It has a diagonal arrangement which is quite difficult for choosing the sewing pattern and I hate that. It took me almost half a day to cut the dress, I had to do it on the right side and put every detail separately as tried to overcome this print's feature. So why I bought this fabric having on mind this "not my" stuff? Because the material is half wool tweed and those diagonals are made up of flowers and paisley. I couldn't but yield the temptation to have it as I can rarely say "no" to orient prints, besides, I only understood that the arrangement is diagonal when spread the fabric on the table. However, something tells me that even having noticed that earlier I would buy it anyway :-) 

Твідова Сукня "Пейслі"

Зробила нову сукню. Це вбрання має "не мої" риси. Наприклад, це не моя кольорова гама. Я люблю яскраві кольори, а ця тканина взагалі якась безбарвна. Але чим довше я її шила, тим більше вона мені подобалася і з лиця і зі звороту. До певної міри візерунок теж не мій: він розташований по діагоналі, що дуже ускладнює вибір моделі для пошиття і я це терпіти не можу. У мене пішло майже пів дня на те, щоб покроїти сукню. Робила це з лицевої сторони і кожну деталь розкладала окремо, щоб подолати таку особливість візерунку. То чому ж я купила цю тканину якщо тут все "не моє"? Тому що це напіввовняний твід, а ті діагоналі складаються з квітів та пейслі. Не змогла не поступитися спокусі мати цей відріз, адже мені рідко вдається казати "ні" східним візерункам, до того ж я зрозуміла що візерунок діагональний, лише коли розклала тканину на столі. Але щось мені підказує, що навіть помітивши це раніше, я б її все одно купила :-) 

Dress #119 from Burda 8/2020. Exactly as it had happened with PDF patterns before, I was going to sew other the modification, sleeveless, and traced it at once after buying the magazine. In summer the sewing failed because of lack of the desired fabric but as soon as I saw this tweed, realized that the dress is the very one :-) 

Сукня 119 з Burda 8/2020. Так само як раніше це траплялося з PDF-викрійками, спочатку збиралася шити іншу модель, модифікацію без рукавів і накреслила її щойно купила журнал. Влітку пошиття не задалося через брак бажаної тканини, але щойно побачила цей твід, зрозуміла, що ця сукня саме та :-) 

The sewing is quick and not hard. The cutting was my only trouble. While sewing I thought that the fabric is ideal for combining the details cut on the wrong and right side. The central front detail I didn't cut not to break the print pattern, just stitched to save the nice curve shape. 

Пошиття швидке і нескладне. Процес крою був найбільшою проблемою. Поки шила декілька разів промайнула думка, що тканина ідеальна для комбінування деталей покроєних по лицевій та зворотній стороні. Центральну частину пілочки не розрізала, щоб не порушувати візерунок, лише прострочила щоб зберіглася гарна округла форма. 

The sleeves I stitched in a different order. At first, joined them with the armholes and then stitched the shoulder seam together with the sleeve's dart. I think for such half raglan sleeves it is a better way. 

Рукави я вшила в інший спосіб. Спочатку приєднала їх до пройм, а вже потім однією строчкою з'єднала плечовий шов і виточку рукава. Для таких рукавів напівреглан це кращий спосіб, тільки втачний шов варто було направити в рукав, може перероблю.

The dress is lined up. To cut the lining I simplified the pattern. 

Сукня на підкладці. Для крою підкладки викрійку спростила. 

My East Trace Collection is growing. I love them all and still wear not depending on the time of sewing :-)

Despite the colour style of the dress is not mine, it is easy to complete it with probably most of my jewelry. Here I am wearing Klimt's Earring, Sparkling Infinity Bracelet and Rings.

Хоча кольорова гама сукні "не моя", вона дуже легко комбінується майже з усіма моїми прикрасами. Тут я надягнула сережки Клімта, браслет "Іскриста нескінченність і каблучки.
