Green Green Viscose Dress

I've already shared a short video about sewing this dress so now, to some degree, am going to repeat what had been already said before :-) I planned to make the garment of this bright viscose last summer as it was meant to be worn with the belt from my orange linen dress not depending on design, but made it only last week. I am a quite spontaneous sewist but after my trip vacation to the Carpathians was sure I would be obsessed with green prints as my rest went among the most beautiful forest and mountain landscapes. I also thought about making a couple of more dresses this summer and then to direct my efforts towards sewing either the postponed projects cut months ago or autumn ones.

Я вже зробила невеличке відео про пошиття цієї сукні тож зараз, до певної міри, збираюся повторити те, що вже розповіла :-) Планувала пошити вбрання з цієї яскравої віскози ще минулого літа, оскільки, незалежно від фасону, одразу збиралася носити його з паском від моєї оранжевої лляної сукні, але пошила лише минулого тижня. Я доволі спонтанна кравчиня, але після моєї мандрівки до Карпат була переконана, що приречена на захоплення зеленим кольором, оскільки відпочивала серед найпрекрасніших горних та лісних пейзажів. Крім того,  хотілося пошити ще пару суконь цього літа, а потім вже спрямувати мої зусилля на пошиття чи то відкладених проєктів покроєних місяців тому, чи то осінніх.

To be honest, this pattern wasn't my first idea for this fabric. More than that, pattern #101 from Burda 8/2018 has never been one of my favourites, I didn't like it in the magazine at all. Occasionally, I saw its modification #6206B with  gathered shoulder seams and bought it having in mind making this very design some day. My first intention was to use pattern #112 from Burda 04/2017. After arranging the details on the fabric, it became clear this pattern is the wrong choice as 2 m isn't enough to cut it. Thus I just chose the model which pattern I already had ready. Finally, I made a longer version of #6206A but  refused from gathered sleeves and the waist casing :-)

Якщо чесно, ця модель не була в перших рядах на пошиття з цієї тканини. Більше того, модель 101 з Burda 8/2018 ніколи не була серед моїх улюбленців, в журналі вона мене ніколи не приваблювала. Але раптом побачила її модифікацію 6206В з зібраними плечовими швами і купила її з наміром колись то і пошити. Першим наміром було використати викрійку 112 з Burda 04/2017. Розклавши деталі на тканині, зрозуміла, що 2 м недостатньо для неї. Тож просто обрала викрійку з тих, які вже були напоготові. Закінчилося тим, що пошила довшу версію 6206А без зібраних рукавів та куліски по талії :-)

To decorate the dress I insert the bias tape in the sleeves and bodice seams. I showed it in my short video, it's in Ukrainian but I tried to be clear and demonstarte more than talk so it can be helpful to learn this technology if it is new for somebody. The bias tapes are cut from the orange linen remnants of the mentioned above dress and belt.

Щоб прикрасити сукню, рукави та основі частини з'єднала швом з кантом. Показую це в своєму короткому відео, тому це може бути помічним, якщо така техніка для когось нова. Косі бейки вирізані з залишків того самого оранжевого льону зі згаданої вище сукні та паску.

Love the outcome a lot and can't help being glad that had to change the pattern :-)

My Needlecrafts Video Review #16

This is a new video from my sewing room devoted to the annual #SewAprilBlouse challenge. In the video, I'm  matching patterns and fabrics possible for sewing blouses. It's my third attempt to take part in this challenge; in the previous years, I finished my started project much later than in April. :-) But I like the idea of the challenge, consider the thematic videos very inspiring, and try to watch as many of them as I can. I enjoyed this process of matching, although not sure if I will sew any of the chosen garments. None of the mentioned fabrics is new; all of them have been in my stash for either a long or not too long time, so I would be happy to make at least one or two of those blouses at last :-) One more bonus, the fabrics are chosen as a perfect match for my new grey striped trousers. I haven't written a post about them yet, but tell about this pair in video #15 (video in Ukrainian). The main thing is not to have my trousers worn before I make any of the planned blouses :-)

Orange Short Sleeve Shirt

New item made both to match those palazzo trousers and to wear the set of jewellery made just because I have no items of so beautiful purple colour :-) It was comparatively quick sewing despite not so easy model of the blouse #123 from Burda 6/2003 as its paper pattern was traced probably two years ago and stayed in the magazine since then. The fabric, thin linen, was purchased at that time as well to make this shirt which was supposed to match the pair of trousers #103 from Burda 9/2019 but the shirt's fate changed. Orange colour and half-fitted cut of the blouse turned to be ideal partners for the variegated viscose trousers of loose silhouette. Very lively and cheerful look this outfit has. I did enjoy wearing it!

Помаранчева сорочка з короткими рукавами

Новий предмет гардеробу, створений щоб і до тих штанів палаццо підходив і щоб новий комплект прикрас, сплетений з тієї причини, що у мене дрібничок такого гарного фіолетового кольору немає, згодився :-) Пошиття блузки 123 з Burda 6/2003 було порівняно швидким, хоча модель не така вже і проста, оскільки викрійку я зробила роки зо два тому і вона з того часу лежала у журналі. Тканину, тонкий льон, купила спеціально для цієї сорочки десь в той самий час, щоб згодом, по пошитті, скомбінувати зі штанами  #103 з Burda 9/2019, але доля сорочки змінилася:-) ЇЇ оранжевий колір та напівприлягаючий крій виявилися чудовими партнерами для строкатих віскозних штанів вільного силуету. Комплект вийшов життєрадісний і жвавий. Одягала його з задоволенням! 

My sewing notes.

1. The main feature of the model is its original pockets, they are double with pleated upper part. 

2. But, as I have quite big bust (cup F), I refused omitted that part.

3. The inner edges of the pockets seem to be extra but they are not, they must be basted by the draft to form a bulging shape for the bust.

4. Both back and front edges of the yoke I stich on the sewing machine. Video shows the way to turn it out. All the basting threads must be removed.

1. Головна цікавинка цієї моделі - це кишені, вони подвійні, верхня зі складками.

2. Оскільки бюст у мене доволі великий (чашка F), від верхньої частини я відмовилася.

3. Внутрішні краї кишень здаються завеликими, але це не так, їх треба намітати за викрійкою, щоб вони утворили опуклість для бюсту.

4. І задній і передні шви кокеток я зшиваю на машинці. Відео демонструє, як це вивертається на лице. Всі зметувальні нитки треба видалити.

Tucked Dress, or Jazz & Vine

 

Despite my love to sewing (that explains all:-)) I often use different events, planned for participating, like a reason to make certain clothes as, generally, my wardrobe is full enough to find there whatever for any case. Mainly it happens I am not on time to make that clothes right by the event so must finish it later, when have the chance. For example, up to now I haven't made the dress meant to be worn at my two-years-ago birthday dinner:-) It is exactly the occasion with this outfit inspired by the intention to visit the outdoor jazz concert held a couple of weeks ago in the suburbs of my city. But this time I was much quicker and finished the work just in a week after the deadline :-) The concert took place near the pond surrounded by the vineyard. Before the concert the audience tasted local vines and barbecue dishes, there was also some contest activity connected with guessing the kinds of vines but only for those who wanted to be involved, of course. The atmosphere of that event were incredible and the enjoyment didn't depend on any clothes at all but nevertheless in my imagination this outfit would suit it the best. So let it be in my wardrobe as I know exactly that when there is a nice outfit, the occasion to put it on always happens or I can wear it just for the sake of good mood:-) 

Сукня з защипами, або Джаз і вино 

Незважаючи на мою любов до шиття (яка все і так пояснює:-)), різні, заплановані для відвідування, події я часто використовую як нагоду зробити якійсь певний одяг через те, що у мене в гардеробі його достатньо для будь якого випадку. Переважно я не встигаю зробити той одяг вчасно до такої події, тож закінчую пізніше, по можливості. Наприклад, я і досі не пошила сукню, яку збиралася одягнути на свій день народження два роки тому:-) Те саме відбулося і з цим вбранням, на пошиття якого мене надихнув намір відвідати джазовий концерт, який відбувся на околиці мого міста два тижні тому. Цього разу в мене вийшло трохи швидше: сукня була готова лише за тиждень після кінцевого терміну:-) Виступ проводили на березі ставка в оточенні виноградників, а перед концертом публіка мала змогу дегустувати місцеві вина та смакувати стравами барбекю. Також не обійшлося без конкурсної програми на вгадування видів вин, але, звісно, для тих хто хотів взяти в тому участь. Атмосфера події була неймовірна і задоволення абсолютно не залежало від жодного одягу, проте, в моїй уяві саме це вбрання підходило до всього того якнайкраще. Тож нехай залишається у шафі, адже точно знаю, якщо є гарна сукня, причина її одягнути завжди знайдеться, а можна її вигуляти і просто заради гарного настрою :-)

I wasn't obsessed with this dress #107 from Burda 8/2012 but I've always been interested in it and wanted to try. I even used to trace the pattern and that draft was enclosed in the magazine for many years until its size turned to be small for me. The used fabric is viscose staple, quite dense and heavy as for this kind of material and is good for both longer sleeves and not wide skirts. For size 42 the dress took 2.00 х 140 сm.

Від цієї моделі сукні 107 з Burda 8/2012 я не шаленіла, але вона мене завжди цікавила. У мене навіть колись була перезнята і вкладена в журнал викрійка, яка там і лежала аж допоки її розмір не став на мене малим. Використана тканина - віскозний штапель, доволі важкий і щільний як на цей вид матеріалу і годиться і для довших рукавів і для не широких спідниць. На сукню 42 розміру пішло 2.00 х 140 см.

The necklace Fun of Reusing/Намисто "Забава і користь".

The dress was made almost entirely by the instruction. The lines of the tuck were copied by the copying stitches. 

Сукню було пошито майже повністю за інструкцією. Лінії зашипів перенесені копіювальними стібками.

Details #3  and #4 are not stiff, are made without any reinforcing and just continue the bodice. The details were paired right side to the right side instead of right to wrong as the underneath detail was seen through the upper. 

Деталі 3 і 4 не жорсткі, зроблені без жодного зміцнювання і лише продовжують ліф. Ці деталі склала виворітною стороною до вивороту заміст виворіт до лиця, оскільки нижня частина просвічувала через верхню.

As I had no chance to sew all the whole dress at once and sewed a little every day during a week, at first I processed the neckhole not to let stretch and only then joined the bodice and skirt. 

Оскільки пошити всю сукню одразу змоги не було і я шила потроху щодня протягом тижня, спочатку обробила горловину, щоб не розтягувалася, а потім з'єднувала ліф і спідницю.

To press the skirt dart open the triangle piece of cardboard was used. 

Щоб розпрасувати виточку на передній частині спідниці, використала трикутний шматочок картону.

Instead of the piece of fabric to sew underneath of the front draping, a piece of trim can be used if there is anything matching (I had none:-))

Замість смужки тканини під драпірування переду можна підкласти шматочок тасьми, якщо є щось гоже (у мене не було:-))

To keep the pleat of the sleeve on the spot I made  a short bar tack. 

The allowance for the zipper was reinforced to avoid stretching. 

The sleeve with elastic has no tight fitting so can be worn pulled up above the elbow (the way I did). 

Щоб складка рукавів залишалася на місці, зробила маленьку закріпку. 

Припуски на пришивання блискавки були зміцнені щоб не розтягнулися. 

Рукав зі вдягнутою гумкою облягає нещільно, тож можна носити його підтягнутим над ліктем (як я і робила).

Shift Dress, or Poppies' Dance

As soon as I complained for the heat that suppresses my wish to sew, the tailor's pride forced me to come back to the acting at once.  And by the Saturday's night I'd already had a new dress :-) So I am not sure what deserves my gratitude for the inspiration: either the poppies or that whining :-)

Poppies are one of my favourite flowers. Their petals are transparent, tender and silky by touch. Red poppies talk about passion and the pink about gentleness. Their blooming is short but so bright and their lives go on after fading: who doesn't like poppy pies... especially at Christmas... well... I have dodged the topic... So, either we see their rich blooming in the meadow or in the garden none of the flowers is able to eclipse their beauty and they can't but attract attention. Poppies are poppies.

Generally, I had no chance to pass indifferently by this fabric with so joyful print, the flowers of which as if are spinning in an ardent dance and invite all of us to join them:-)

Літня сукня, або Маків танок

Варто мені було поскаржитися на спеку що пригнічує моє бажання шити, як гордість кравчині примусила одразу ж взятися до справи і на кінець суботи я вже була з новою сукнею :-) Тож і не знаю, чому завдячувати за натхнення: чи то  макам чи тому скигленню:-)
Маки - одні з моїх улюблених квітів. Їхні пелюстки прозорі, тендітні і шовковисті на дотик. Червоні маки говорять про пристрасть, а рожеві - про ніжність. Цвітіння їх недовге, але таке яскраве, а життя продовжується і після в'янення: хто ж не любе пироги з маком... особливо на Різдво... хмм... щось я відволіклася від теми... Отже, чи бачимо ми їхнє щедре цвітіння у полі чи в садку, жодна квітка не може затьмарити їхньої краси, і не помітити їх неможливо, маки - то маки.
Тож нічого дивного немає в тому, що я не змогла байдуже пройти мимо тканини з таким веселим візерунком, квіти якого наче кружляють у запальному танку і запрошують до нього всіх навколо:-)

It must be mentioned, they spin quite asymmetrically. And it means certain difficulties for the cutting. I know a lot about cutting the fabrics: with the same, opposite or chaotic direction of print, with small big symmetric and asymmetric patterns. In this case the pattern is big and asymmetric. It supposes that the symmetry can be only conditional, the fashion should have as less seams as possible and it is worth avoioding fitting silhouettes. I only wonder why the fabric's producers, who surely know about all that much more than I, don't take all that into consideration.

Кружляють вони, треба обмовитися,  асиметрично. І це означає певні складнощі для крою. Я багато знаю про крій тканин: з однаковим, різним і хаотичним напрямками візерунків, з великими і маленькими симетричними і несиметричними рапортами малюнків. В даному випадку візерунок великий, розташований в одному напрямку і асиметричний. Це означає, що симетрія може бути лише умовна, фасон не має містити зайвих швів і варто уникати прилягаючого силуету. Мені тільки цікаво чому виробники тканин, а вони ж напевно знають про все це більше ніж я, на все це не зважають.

Having in mind all said above, to sew a dress with this fabric I chose pattern #108 from Burda 6/2016. I omitted a zipper and left a short slit in the centre back seam. I also neglected the pockets, just because was short of fabric (but I wasn't sad about that:-)). The pockets are made exactly like in this pants. I had some doubts as for adding bands into the reliefs but then refused from any as well. For such fabric the less cutting it has the better.
And now let's come back to the print. If to keep the rules of the cutting properly, the back must be cut with the same approximate symetry as the front. But in this case, one length of the fabric would never be enough for such a design and twice more fabric must be bought and there would be a lot of remnants. So one must choose either to keep the rules or let the flowers dance in their free way :-) I chose the latter, of course.

Взявши до уваги все вище згадане, щоб пошити сукню з цієї тканини, я обрала модель 108 з Burda 6/2016. Відмовилася від "блискавки", а залишила невеличкий розріз в середньому шві спинки. Також моя сукня не має кишень, просто тому що у мене не вистачило тканини (але мене це і не засмутило:-)). Кишені робляться так само як у цих штанях. Були у мене сумніви щодо додавання кантів у рельєфи, але від них я теж відмовилася. Для такої тканини чим менше деталей, тим краще.
А тепер повертаємося до візерунку. Якщо дотримуватися правил крою, спинка сукні повинна мати таку саму приблизну симетрію як і передня частина, але  в такому випадку однієї довжини сукні ніколи не вистачить на пошив і треба купувати вдвічі більше тканини і залишиться багато  рештків. Тож є два виходи: або дотримуватися правил або дозволити тим квітам танцювати вільним стилем:-) Звісно, я обрала друге.

While sewing at first I stitched the side seams, then processed the arm holes.
If I made pockets, I would join the side seams partly from the arm holes down for about 5-10 cm, then processed the arm holes and then the pockets.



Під час пошиття спочатку зшила бокові шви, потім обробила пройми.
Якби робила кишені, я б частково зшила бокові шви на 5-10 см від пройм вниз, потім обробила б пройми і потім - кишені.

To fasten the dress I made a loop with fabric and sewed it to the top of the centre back slit.

Щоб застібати сукню, зробила петлю з тканини і пришила її до верху розрізу середнього шва спинки.

My fabric is soft staple which seems to repeat every movement of the flowers so before cutting o the facings  I reinforced the whole piece of the fabric, then cut the details.



Моя тканина - це м'який штапель, який, здається, рухається разом з тими квітами тож перед викроюванням обшивок, я продублювала цілий клаптик тканини, а вже потім їх кроїла.

Beaded Donut Bead, or When the Shape Matters

Last few weeks made me feel as if all my creativity and desires are exhausted. I don't remember if regular teleportation from holidays to work causes the same state every year but this time it had some crucial influence indeed. Hundreds of watched videos and printed projects of all the ever interesting for me needlework left me indifferent until I came across the photo of Incased Donut by Glenda Payseno.

And suddenly I remembered that when choosing the beads for this necklace last year I bought 5 donut beads. The light in the store was not too good for selling beads so I expected the donuts to be terracotta but on bringing them home I saw they were red and matched that project in no way. So the beads were buried in the bottom of one of my stash boxes. But as red plays magically always, last night I found the beads, matched оther materials and at once made my own net to bead the first donut bead. I haven't decided yet how will use the new beads but I am just glad I still love my needlework and have new ideas again.

Останні декілька тижнів здавалося, що вся  моя творча наснага і бажання вичерпані назавжди. Не пам'ятаю, чи регулярна телепортація з канікул на роботу спричиняє такий самий стан щороку, але цього разу вона мала якийсь і справді критичний вплив. Сотні переглянутих відео і друкованих проектів усіх видів рукотворів, якими я хоч колись цікавилась, залишали мене байдужою поки я не натрапила на фото "Incased Donut" від Glenda Payseno.

І раптом згадала, що обираючи матеріали для цього намиста минулого року, я купила п'ять намистин  donut (від "doughnut" - пампушка). Крамниця була погано освітлена для торгівлі намистинами і  "пампушки" здалися мені теракотовими, а вже дома виявилося, що вони червоні і жодним чином не підходять для того намиста. Тому ті намистини продовжили своє існування на дні однієї з моїх коробок. Але  оскільки червоний завжди грає магічно, вчора ввечері  я знайшла ті "пампушки", підібрала інші матеріали і одразу ж зробила власну сітку для обплетення першого доната. Я ще не вирішила, що робитиму з новими намистинами, але принаймні я рада, що все ще люблю мої рукотвори і у мене знову з'являються ідеї.

У відео замість слова "donut" я використала слово "doughnut", не думаю, що це злочин проти нанизування і сподіваюсь, що ти теж так вважаєш:-)

Twin Beaded Bead, or Pineapple Earrings

The earrings make up a nice set with the necklace from the previous post and their colour style does wake up the vision of the evening coming down on a seacoast. But their shape makes me think about absolutely other things:-) Firstly, about a certain kind of lamps, secondly, about a dried poppy and thirdly, about a pineapple. And the last variant seems to be the most attractive right now:-)

Намистина з твінів, або Сережки ананаси

Сережки утворюють гарний набір з намистом з попереднього допису і їхня кольорова гама і справді пробуджує видіння вечора, який спускається на узбережжя. Але їхня форма примушує мене уявляти зовсім інші речі:-)  По-перше, про певний вид ламп, по-друге, про засохлу маківку і по-третє, про ананас. І останній варіант здається зараз найпривабливішим:-)

Once upon a time I saw a beautiful pair of earrings on the Beadingdaily site, they were called Tulip Mania. Why I rememebered them, is hard to say because after looking through tons of photos and videos, actually all what you saw gets blurring. But this pair was lucky, or I was lucky not to forget it.
So having some beading skills now I thought I would be able to make them myself without any pattern. I am glad I feel myself so self-confident about my beading already:-) Fianlly after few hours of work, the earrings turned out to be just a great source of inspiration and I made my own pair:-)



Колись давно я побачила дуже гарну пару сережок на сайті Beadingdaily, вони називалися Tulip Mania. Чому вони мені запам'яталися важко сказати, бо після перегляду тисяч фото і відео все, що ти бачив, зливається в суцільну сіру масу. Але цій парі пощастило, чи то мені пощастило, що я її не забула.
Отже маючи вже деякі навички нанизування я подумала, що зможу сама їх зробити без жодного опису. І моя впевненість щодо цього мене дуже радує :-) Зрештою після декількох годин роботи ті сережки виявилися просо чудовим джерелом натхнення, а я створила свою власну пару:-)
