Dew on the Grapevine Magatama Set

Today I've finished one more magatama piece. I liked the tutorial for the magatama necklace from +Beads Direct and decided to make it at once. The diversity of the beads' colours confused me to some degree until I defined what outfit will be embellished with the necklace. Then the choice became simple and the wonderful mix of transparent pastel hues of lilac, pink and goldish seemed to be the best.

Сьогодні закінчила ще один виріб з магатами. Мені дуже сподобався цей майстер клас намиста з магатами від +Beads Direct  і я його одразу вирішила зробити. Розмаїття кольорів намистин трохи мене бентежило поки я не визначилася, яке вбрання прикрашатиме намисто. По тому вибір став простим і ця чудова суміш прозорих пастельних відтінків бузкового рожевого і золотистого здалася найкращою.

It is not very typical project for me with its delicacy and airiness. And I couldn't but modified it a little.
At first I beaded the whole seed beads chain and the base for the pendant with the fishing line. I thought it would be better to get the tigtness, besides, the chain is beaded with CRAW and so the thread would be seen, the fishing line - will not.
Then the pendant was beaded with the thread to have it soft well draping and bangling.



Цей проект вирізняється витонченістю і легкістю і  для мене не дуже типовий. І я не могла його трохи не змінити.
Спочатку нанизала ланцюжок з бісеру і основу для кулону на лінь. Я подумала, що так буде краще затягнути плетіння, до того ж ланцюжок плететься у техніці CRAW, тому нитку було б помітно, а ось лінь - ні.
А сам кулон плела на нитку, щоб він був пластичним, висячим і "м'яким".

I also added a couple of elements to the necklace on the both sides of the pendant.
After the necklace was almost ready, to define how many elements I could add, I decided to make the matching earrings at first. The same idea as for the pendant was used. Making the base one must be attentive to make the pieces identical not to remake them.





Також я додала пару елементів до намиста з обох боків від кулону.
Після того як намисто було майже готове, щоб визначитися, скільки елементів можна додати, вирішила спочатку зробити сережки. Ідея та сама, що і для виготовлення кулону. Нанизуючи основу, треба бути уважним, щоб обидві основи були однаковими, щоб потім їх не переробляти.

The ready set looks very lovely... very romantic and gentle, the sparkles on the beads remind me glistening on the dew on the grapes under morning sunbeams...




Готові прикраси виглядають дуже мило.... романтично і ніжно, іскорки на намистинах нагадують відблиски на росі на ягодах винограду у ранкових промінцях сонця...

Magatama Bracelet (Updating)

The updating here means making one more magatama bracelet but using  the beads of other colour style.

Браслет з магатама (оновлення)

Оновлення тут означає виготовлення ще одного браслету з намистин магатама, але в іншій кольоровій гамі.

All the rest was made exactly like I did here in the second variant for six 6/0 seed beads.


Все решта так само, як я робила тут  в другому варіанті на шість бісерин 6/0.

This bracelet looks very nice, too, but different. Probably because blue with silver beads visually create the effect of airiness and weightlessness.

I am going to wear the bracelets together and expect them to be a good accessory for some of my future sewing projects.


Цей браслет теж дуже гарно виглядає, але інакше. Мабуть завдяки тому, що блакитні зі сріблом намистини візуально створюють ефект легкості і невагомості.
Збираюся носити обидва браслети разом, думаю це буде гарне доповнення до одного з моїх наступних проектів з пошиття.

Magatama Bracelet, or Mix of Petals

These magatama seed beads are unusual indeed. I looked up the word and the Internet said it means "curved jewel". I guess to design with them is pretty hard - the beads are asymmetrical so either the pattern has to include some reflected elements or just some chaotic arrangements of the beads without any hint to symmetry. I chose the latter one. More than that, as for me, the beads remind petals. And to see the mix of petals to be inspired I only have to step over the porch - and all around is full of such "jewels":-)


Браслет з магатама, або Пелюсткова суміш

Незвичні ці бісерини - магатама. Я  подивилася, що це слово означає. Інтернет каже - "вигнута коштовність". Думаю, з них складно вигадувати речі - намистини асиметричні, тому або дизайн повинен мати якісь віддзеркаленні мотиви або хаотичне розташування бісерин взагалі без жодного натяку на симетрію. Я обрала друге, тим більше, що особисто мені такі намистини нагадують пелюстки, а щоб для натхнення побачити суміш пелюсток, далеко ходити не треба - лише вийди за поріг і там таких "коштовностей" доста :-)

For my first magatama project I chose a simple video tutorial from +Potomac Bead Company. On some reason I used peach/tangerine mix of the beads for the embellishment and for the peyote base - creamy 6/0. 




Для мого першого проекту з магатама я обрала простий відео майстер клас від +Potomac Bead Company. Для оздоблення з якоїсь причини мені захотілося використати персиково-мандаринову суміш, а для пейоточної основи браслету - бісер 6/0.

Having enough 6/0 at first I made the base for eight seed beads, embellished it with magatamas, made a clasp from a big bead and a seed bead loop. But my 15 grams of magatamas was not enough for all the bracelet. The result turned out to be very rough so I unpicked it to remake.



6/0 бісеру у мене було достатньо, то спочатку я зробила основу на вісім бісерин, прикрасила її магатама, додала застібку з великої намистини і бісерної петлі. 15 грамів магатама було не досить на весь браслет. Результат вийшов якійсь грубуватий. Тому все це я розпустила, щоб переробити.  

The second try was much better. I made the peyote base for six 6/0 seed beads. This time 15 grams of magatamas were enough and I even have 7 beads left:-)
One more very essential note. It is better to add the clasp right after finishing the peyote base because then it will be troubling to pull the needle and especially to weave the ends of the thread.



Друга спроба була кращою. Пейточну основу я зробила на шість 6/0 бісерин. Цього разу 15 грамів магатама виявилося достатньо і навіть сім намистин залишилося:-)
Ще одне істотне зауваження - застібку краще додати одразу після закінчення плетіння основи, бо потім буде важко і проштовхувати голку і, особливо, заправляти кінці нитки.

The bracelet is very cheerful in its colour style and playful in its design and inspiring  to go on working with the "curved jewels":-))

Браслет дуже життєрадісний за кольоровою гамою і грайливий за своїм дизайном і надихає на подальшу роботу з цими "вигнутими коштовностями":-))
