Draped Neckhole (or Just Hearts') Top :-)

I wonder what to start with... hmm... I have a dream to fly  the hot air balloon. However, just to visit any festival of such balloons it will be excellent as well. In Ukraine the most famous of them is the festival in Kamianets-Podilskyi, but to get there, stay for and come back home for a one day is very troubling from my place. So when this year one of our touristic agency organised the journey to the alike festival in Uman, that is easier to visit, I couldn't miss the chance.
As last week autumn suddenly reminded that it is here already, most of tourists, including me, of course, checked the weather forecast for the yesterday Saturday probably every day as the absence of rain is a must for such an event. Any precipitaion were not expected... up to Friday that brought the news about the rain in Uman for the whole Saturday. It is strange but I wasn't upset... I had a feeling that the trip will be great anyway. I was so excited with the coming journey that despite tiredness by the end of the week sewed this top with funny print of flying the heart balloons owls..., it did expreess my mood :-)

Топ з коміром водоспад, або Просто  сердечка  :-)

Ось думаю, з чого б почати...добре... У мене є мрія політати на повітряній кулі. Проте навіть просто відвідати будь який фестиваль таких куль теж було б чудово. В Україні найвідоміший з них - фестиваль в Кам'янці-Подільському, але дістатися туди, залишатися на якійсь час, а потім повернутися звідти додому за один день дуже проблематично з мого міста. Тому, коли одна з туристичних агенцій організувала подорож на подібний захід в Умані, яку не так клопітно відвідати, я такий шанс пропустити не могла.

Оскільки минулого тижня осінь всім нам нагадала, що вона вже тут, більшість туристів, звісно, включно зі мною, мабуть щодня перевіряли прогноз погоди, бо відсутність дощу для той події - навіть не обговорюється. Жодних опадів не передбачалося... до п'ятниці, яка принесла звістку про дощь в Умані на цілий день. На подив, я не засмутилася... У мене було відчуття, що день все одно мине прекрасно. Я була так схвильована мандрівкою, що незважаючи на  втому наприкінці тижня, пошила цей топ з кумедним візерунком з совеняток, що летять на повітряних кульках-сердечках... він і справді виражав мій настрій :-)

The day was great indeed! Uman is famous for its unbelievable Sophiyivski Park. I was there not less than 10 years ago on a sunny warm autumn day. The park is considered to be beautiful in any season and now I can say it is amazing in any weather as well :-) Probably because we got there after lunch and all the day it was either raining or drizzling alternately there were less people as usual. The park's poetic and romantic atmosphere was felt even more and it inclined to contented contemplating.




День і справді виявився прекрасним! Умань відома своїм неймовірним Софіївським парком. Я була там десь років десять тому теплим сонячним осіннім днем. Вважається що парк чарівний будь якої пори року і зараз можу сказати що і за будь якої погоди :-) Можливо через те, що ми приїхали туди по обіді і весь день дощ мінявся на мжичку і навпаки,  людей було менше ніж за зазвичай. Тож поетично-романтична атмосфера парку відчувалася навіть більше і схиляла до смиренного споглядання. 

The top deserves few words to be mentioned, too:-) I cannot say I chose the best model among those I'd like to sew but for the quantity of the fabric I had it is not the worse variant. Model #21 from Diana Moden11-12/ 2012 (Ukrainian edition). I sewed it for  four hours thanking to the great designer's idea with a single piece front facing and single piece facing for the back's collar.





Топ теж заслуговує на пару слів :-) Не можу сказати, що обрала найкращу модель з тих, які хотілося б пошити, але для моєї кількості тканини цей варіант - не найгірший. Модель 21 з Diana Moden11-12/ 2012 (українське видання). Я його пошила за чотири години завдяки гарній дизайнерський ідеї з суцільнокроєною з передом обшивкою пілочки і суцільнокроєним з обшивкою коміром спинки.

I didn't try it on while sewing so after the work was over the top seemed to be a littler bigger for me than I got used to but that's not a problem, let it be loose. I only instead of 6.5 cm gathered the front collar for 3 cm because it didn't fit in the way I wanted at all.

Я його не міряла поки шила, тож зрештою топ здався мені трохи більший за розміром ніж я звикла, але це не проблема, нехай буде собі вільний. Єдине, я зібрала драпування коміру на передній частині на 3 см замість 6,5 оскільки воно геть не прилягало так як мені хотілося.

Coral Yoke Trousers, or Sewing Must Go On :-)

I had a plenty of thoughts crossed my mind while sewing these trousers, it could be enough to accompany the sewing of the whole wardrobe but if to generalise all the experience and the outcome, it is clear I only have simple pants that are out of the season and absolutely useless right now on very that reason :-) Then why? I don't know. I understood long ago that the best way not to stop making things is not to look for the reasons to make them. The results of crafting must be practical, at least for me, but to plan, postpone, create a queue, wishes list, despite being a fun, have not much in common with free will. And if to be focused on all that stuff too much, finally, laziness and procrastinating can empower you. Of course, all this story is only about me! There are many highly organised persons, who always have my admiration, but I am not the one of them so must just follow the wish to make whatever not to regret about lost time. Summer trousers made in autumn are always better that trousers made neither in summer nor in autumn.

The trousers were meant to be packed in my vacation suitcase but, as it happened very often  when I am planning to sew something right for travelling, I stuck to the idea that I had enough items pairing with many other things so there is no need to make super efforts before the journey. And it was really so this time... as well as every previous times :-) Because, as I once said, I avoid complaining for absence of clothes:-)

Коралові штани на кокетці, або Пошиття має тривати :-)

У мене була купа думок поки я шила ці штани, вистачило б для написання вступів до цілого гардеробу речей, але якщо підсумувати і весь отриманий досвід і результат, зрозуміло, що у підсумку я маю прості штани не по сезону, від яких, з тієї ж самої причини, зараз немає жодної користі :-)
Тоді навіщо? Не знаю. Я давно зрозуміла, що найкращий спосіб не припиняти виготовляти речі - це не замислюватися про мотиви їх створення. Результат рукотворів має бути практичним, принаймні для мене, але планувати, відкладати, створювати чергу та списки бажань, хоча само по собі і розвага, має небагато спільного із свободою вибору :-) І якщо на всьому цьому забагато зосереджуватися, все може закінчитися тим, що лінощі та затягування візьмуть гору. Вся ця історія, звісно, лише про мене! Є багато добре організованих людей, які викликають у мене захоплення, але я не одна з них, тож маю просто плентатися за бажанням щось робити, аби не шкодувати про втрачений час. Літні штани восени - це краще ніж жодних штанів ані восени ані влітку.
Штани мали зайняти місце у моїй відпускній валізі, але, як це часто трапляється, коли я планую пошити щось спеціально для подорожі,  я пристала на думку, що у мене достатньо речей, які добре пасують одна  одній, тому немає жодних причин робити надзусилля перед поїздкою. І це так і було цього разу... як і всі попередні рази :-) Тому що, як я вже одного разу казала, я уникаю фрази "мені немає чого вдягти" :-)

Late sewing caused the choice of this pattern. It is model 13 from Diana Moden 4/2012 (Ukrainian edition). I chose it because of the silhouette, the pants are straight, have many pockets and the yokes. The fabric is very thin cotton sateen stretch. Right now the trousers look much brighter then they are because of grey weather and on pretty cold day it is hard to understand how I could buy such thin fabric:-)

Пошиття з істотним запізненням спричинило вибір фасону. Це модель 13 з Diana Moden 4/2012 (українське видання). Вибрала її через силует, штани прямі, мають багато кишень і кокетки. Тканина тонкий еластичний сатин. Як на цю сіру погоду штани виглядають яскравішими ніж вони  є насправді  та і такого холодного дня важко зрозуміти, як можна було придбати настільки тонку тканину :-)

As a rule I don't make pockets on the trousers because of my wide hips and, when purchasing the fabric, it was exactly the words I said to the seller. But when choosing the pattern I suddenly wanted to make the pockets very much, however, it was enough fabric only for the back ones. I enjoyed sewing them.

Як правило через свої широкі стегна я не роблю кишень на штанях і, купуючи тканину, саме це і сказала продавчині. Але, обираючи модель, мені раптом так закортілося ті кишені залишити, проте тканини вистачило лише на задні. Шила їх із задоволенням.

When stitching any symmetric details to the main details, the most important to sew them right. I still use old-fashioned way to copy the spots of the placements with basting loopy stitches.

Коли пришиваються симетричні деталі до основних, дуже важливо пришити їх правильно. І досі використовую старомодний спосіб перенесення ліній розташування симетричних деталей за допомогою силків.

The sewing of the fly is usual.


Втачування блискавки звичайне.

It mustn't be in this way but this time I even wanted to shortened the zipper neatly.


Так не обов'язково робити, але цього разу мені навіть захотілося охайно вкоротити блискавку.

It used to be one of my favourite prosessing - double top stitching, like in jeans.


Це колись була одна з моїх улюблених операцій - відстрочування подвійною строчкою, як на джинсах.

Something tells me it is not the last this autumn summer project :-)
Щось мені підказує, що це ще не останній літній проект цієї осені :-)

Flounce Dress, or Summer Night

It almost always happens that after cutting some item in the end of August I have no time to sew it at once... mostly because of school start. It goes in the following way: at first I think that it would be good to use the reason of a holiday, which is the First of September is in our country, to make one more outfit. I chose the model and it is always something light for summer days, then cut it and then suddenly there appear different urgent activity at work that my way of thinking changes. I start professing that I have enough dresses to wear so if I don't sew this last one right now, nothing awful happens and the sewing is postponed for the nearest weekend in September. On such a weekend I am always pretty busy and on the next one is as well so the sewing is postponed again and again until it becomes chilly enough for such apparel to wear and I speechify in new words. I remind myself that as colder it becomes, the less interest in the dress I will have and I hate to begin making new projects until I have unfinished ones on my sewing table. It means I won't be able to make more appropriate season things. So yesterday about after lunch the inspiration and will united at last and the dress had been made by the end of Sunday :-)

Сукня з "крильцями", або Літній вечір

Майже завжди трапляється, що, покроївши якусь річ в кінці серпня, у мене немає часу її пошити одразу... переважно через початок занять у школі. Це відбувається так: спочатку я думаю, що було б добре скористатися нагодою свята Першого дзвоника щоб пошити якесь нове вбрання. Я обираю модель і це завжди щось легке для літніх днів, потім крою його, а потім раптом на роботі з'являються якісь нагальні справи, що спричиняє  зміну потоку думок. Я починаю розмірковувати про те, що у мене достатньо суконь, тому, якщо і не пошию цю останню прямо зараз, нічого страшного не трапиться і пошиття відкладається на перші вихідні вересня. В такі вихідні я завжди доволі зайнята, як і в наступні, тож пошиття відкладається знову і знову поки не стає прохолодно, щоб таке вбрання носити і тоді я міняю риторику. Я собі нагадую, що чим холодніше стає, тим менше мене цікавитиме та сукня, а я терпіти не можу починати шити щось нове поки на робочому столі є незакінчені речі. Це означає, що я не зможу робити більш відповідний сезону одяг. Тому вчора, десь приблизно по обіді, натхнення і воля нарешті об'єдналися і до кінця неділі сукню було пошито :-)

Why Summer Night? In summer in my place it is very hot and if we ever change clothes to go out at night (those who go out, I mostly don't :-)), it happens because our day clothes is to sweaty to wear it again. But if I were going to wear something to look romantic, I would certainly choose this outfit in hope  to be blown with night breeze and have the flounces flapping like bird's wings (by the way here such flounces are called "wings") :-)
Besides, last year I made a pair of earrings specially to match this dress, they surely tell about night, too...


Чому літній вечір? Влітку в нашій місцевості дуже спекотно і якщо ми і перевдягаємося, щоб вийти ввечері (ті, хто виходять, я - переважно - ні:-)), то це через те, що вдень надто спітніли тож все одно треба одяг міняти. Але, якби я збиралася одягти щось романтичне, я б вже напевно вибрала цю сукню з надією, що нічний бриз обдуватиме мене, а "крильца" на сукні тріпотітимуть, як  крила у пташки :-)
Крім того минулого року я зробила пару сережок спеціально до цієї сукні, і вони вже напевно промовляють про вечір теж...

The fabric, thin crepe, used to be bought for making model #106 from Burda 2/2017 but after seeing it made by one of my mates, I omitted the pattern because its flounce is too narrow for my wide border print fabric. I looked through what I had on the subject and chose the pattern 118 from Burda 7/2017 because I was less short of the fabric for it. About that time I also pondered why I had purchased this issue so was glad to find the reason :-)


Тканину, тонкий креп, було куплено для виготовлення моделі 106 з Burda 2/2017, але побачивши цю сукню, пошиту моєю приятелькою, я відмовилася від цієї ідеї, тому що шлярка сукні надто вузька для мого широкого купону. Переглянувши що у мене є на тему "крилець", зупинилася на моделі 118 з Burda 7/2017, тому що на неї  вистачало тканини. Приблизно в той час я також розмірковувала, навіщо я купила це число журналу, тож була рада знайти причину :-)

I must confess that without the instruction I would probably never make the dress or the time of sewing would become endless :-) So the model is not only beautiful but to work on it was very interesting.
I mean, of course, the processing and stitching the flounces. My sewing machine doesn't make nice zigzag stitch so I had to bend the bottom edge of the flounces twice to hem it. I have a special foot but have no skill to use so... next time... maybe.




Маю зізнатися, що без інструкції я б, мабуть, ніколи не зробила цю сукню, або її пошиття було б вічним:-) Тож модель не лише красива, але і працювати над нею було цікаво.
Маю на увазі, звичайно ж, обробку шлярки. Машинка моя не робить гарний зигзаг, тож довелося обробляти низ цих деталей подвійною підгинкою. У мене є спеціальна лапка, але навичок нею користуватися немає, тож наступного разу... може.

The stitching the flounces to the dress is a detective story but,  as it was mentioned above, interesting and, what is important with a happy end.
For those who are going to make it, I recommend to read instructions and maybe the photos can be helpful to some degree. Here the back is shown, the front flounce is sewed in the same way.


Пришивання шлярок до сукні - це детективна історія,але, як вже було вище згадано, цікава, і, що важливо, зі щасливим кінцем.
Для тих, хто збирається це робити, я рекомендую уважно читати інструкцію і можливо фото, певною мірою, стануть у пригоді. Тут показано спинку, до передньої частини шлярки пришиваються так само.

The stitching of the facing is usual but, not having enough fabric, I made the facing of two parts, sew them together and then work as with a single piece. I also decided that it would be better at first to stitch the facing to the neck hole and then cut it in the front.

Пришивання обшивки - звичайне, але, оскільки мені не вистачало тканини, довелося робити її з двох частин, зшити їх, а потім обробляти як  одну. Також я вирішила, що було б краще спочатку пришити обшивку до вирізу горловини, а вже потім розрізати її по середині переду.
