Italian Rose Pendant

The pendant is my first work with Arcos par Puca beads. I only found them in three colours here and bought in two. The choice of the red were as obvious as the choice of the pattern: undoubtly the shape of the beads forms fabulous petals. Probably it was the decisive reason why the pendant from Bead & Button April 2019 by Italian designer Margherita Fusko appealed to me :-) 

Кулон "Італійська троянда" 

Цей кулон - моя перша робота з намистинами Arcos par Puca. Я їх знайшла лише в трьох кольорах і купила в двох. Вибір червоного був так само очевидний як і вибір моделі: без сумніву форма намистин утворює казкові пелюстки. Скоріш за все це і стало вирішальним фактором привабливості кулону з "Bead & Button", квітень 2019, італійської дизайнерки Margherita Fusko :-) 

I haven't desided yet what will be used as a rope to wear the pendant but I know exactly what dress it will decorate :-) While working, the most interesting was to play with the seed beads' colours as I was changing them and their order in the process. 

Ще не вирішила, на що підвісити кулон щоб носити, але точно знаю, яку сукню він прикрашатиме :-) Поки плела, найцікавішим було гратися з кольорами бісеру, оскільки змінювала і їх і порядок їх використання в процесі роботи.

Vintage Kim Coat

Probably about a month ago a new winter coat was cut at last. I needed to change a coat a couple of years ago but couldn't find the desired fabric and sewed that variant to wait out the period of searching the right ideas and materials. Choosing a model for sewing a coat reminds me a kid's tale about a bear who wanted to paint a picture but during the process took into account the wishes of all who saw him drawing. The outcome of his work was quite strange and contained everything but what he had wanted indeed. In the situation with a coat design I have the only adviser - myself but the temptation was to make the coat both classical and modern, original but without extravagancy, fitted but loose enough to wear any clothes underneath. It is because the coat is meant to be worn for several years. Actually, I chose mine right after buying the fabric but then yet looked through all my magazines in search of something else. The fate of the bear came to my mind right in time to avoid it and I turned to the initial idea of the attire :-) So I was glad to start the work and cut the fabric with pleasure. But when next day I came into my studio and saw all the details piling up on the table, I considered my joy to be too anticipatory because how long it would take me to transform all that tower into the clothing nobody knew :-)  

The Hummingbird Brooch is a special decoration for the coat.

Вінтажне пальто "Кім"

Мабуть десь місяць минув як я нарешті покроїла нове зимове пальто. Мені треба було його поміняти вже пару років тому, але не могла знайти бажану тканину тож пошила цей проміжний варіант в очікуванні  гожих ідей і матеріалів. Вибір фасону пальто нагадує сюжет історії про ведмедя, який малював картину дослухаючись до порад всіх навколо. Результат його роботи був дивний і містив все крім того, що хотілося саме йому. В ситуації з вибором моделі пальта у мене лише один порадник - я сама, але була спокуса зробити пальто і класичним і сучасним; оригінальним, проте, не екстравагантним; таке щоб облягало, але залишалося вільним, щоб можна було під низ одягати будь який одяг. Все це тому, що пальто шиється на багато років. Насправді, я своє обрала щойно купила тканину, але все одно передивилася всі свої журнали у пошуках чогось ще. Доля ведмедя вчасно спала мені на думку, щоб її уникнути; тож я повернулася до початкового задуму вбрання:-) Я була рада розпочати роботу і кроїла із задоволенням. Але наступного дня, зайшовши до своєї майстерні і побачивши всі ті деталі, які на столі утворили справжню гору, моя радість видалася мені трохи завчасною, тому що скільки часу у мене мало піти на перетворення тієї гори на одяг, ніхто б не сказав :-)  

Брошка "Колібрі" - спеціальна прикраса для пальта.

The model #Kim was taken in Burda Special Vintage 2014. Now I don't remember what I thought about that coat after reading the magazine but as soon as I saw the fabric, I understood it was a perfect match for that pattern. The fabric is very soft and has silkish fluffy surface.

Модель "Кім" з Burda Special Vintage 2014. Зараз я вже не пам'ятаю, що думала про це пальто тоді як прочитала журнал, але щойно побачила тканину, зрозуміла, що вона для цієї моделі ідеальна. Тканина дуже м'яка і має пухнасту шовковисту поверхню.

Sewing was mostly buy the instruction but with some extra steps.  I reinforced all the edges with interfacing. The parts of the back were stitched, pressed open and top stiched along the centre on the both sides. 

Пошиття було переважно за інструкцією, але з декількома додатковими кроками. Всі краї я зміцнила прокладкою. Частини спинки після зшивання були розпрасовані і відстрочені вздовж центру з обох сторін. 

The front darts had to be both basted and pinned as the fabric moved as if it is a velvet. 

Передні витачки довелося не лише зметати, а ще і заколоти булавками, бо тканина рухалася наче це оксамит.

The main sign of the active coat sewing for me is processing pockets:-) The entrance edges were reinforсed as well. 

Головна ознака, що пальто активно шиється - обробка кишень:-) Зрізи входів також зміцнені прокладкою.

З'єднання передніх частин. Входи в кишені треба замітати до закінчення пошиття.

Before stitching the face to the coat, the front central edges must be gathered for about 2 cm ( in my case). A narrow tape is used for that. It is not worth to be afraid of the gathering, it will prevent the fronts from stretching and further opening while wearing the caot. 

До того як пришивати обшивку борту, треба зрізи бортів припосадити ( у мене десь на 2 см). Це зроблено за допомогою вузької тасьми.  Боятися такого призбирання не треба, воно попередить краї борту від розтягування та подальшого розходження в процесі носіння пальта. 

The seams of the front edges must be pressed open, too, to make them thinner. Then join the sleeves, sew the seams allowances of the upper and lower collars. Make a loop for hanging. The coat is ready to join the lining.

Шов обшивання борту має бути також розпрасований, щоб зробити його тоншим. Потім вшиваємо рукава і зшиваємо припуски на втачування верхнього і нижнього комірів. Робимо петлю для вішалки. Пальто готове для пришивання підкладки.

As the coat is winter al the parts of viscose lining and the warmer must be basted together. They also could be stitched together but I didn't do that, just trimmed the ready details. 

Оскільки пальто зимове всі деталі віскозної підкладки та утеплювача мають бути зметані разом. Їх також можна вистрочити, але цього я не робила, лише підрізала, щоб були однаковими.

After joining the coat and the lining (I always do it on the sewing machine like here) they must be joined inside by hands with thick thread.  Hems and back facing  - with stitches; shoulder and  arm holes with bars. After that the coat hem is processed and the coat and the lining are stitched along the bottom.

Після зшивання пальта і підкладки (я це завжди роблю на машинці як тут) їх треба з'єднати товстими нитками вручну зсередини. Підгинки та обшивку спинки стібками, плечові шви, шви пройм - закріпками. Після цього підшивається низ пальта та зшиваються пальто з підкладкою по низу.

For the top stitching this time I used a special foot. 

Для оздоблювальної строчки цього разу використала спеціальну лапку.

I refused from buttonholes so the two big buttons are just a piece of decor. The coat fastens with big plastic snaps.





Жодних петель не робила. Два великих ґудзики - лише декор. Пальто застібається на великі пластикові кнопки.

The coat is very loose indeed but the fabric is so soft that it drapes very well under the belt and creates a nice fitting. 

As for the final outcome: it is so pleasant to be aware of my ability to do something quite well :-) 

Пальто і справді дуже просторе, але тканина настільки м'яка, що дуже добре драпірується під поясом і це створює гарне облягання.

Щодо результату: приємно усвідомлювати, що я вмію щось робити досить добре :-)

Hummingbird Brooch

The other days I finished my new winter coat. The coat is big, loose and quite dark. At once I wanted to decorate it in some way and the best idea turned to be to embroider the matching brooch. Among those I have in my making list there was this small bird. It is a good choice thanking to its colour style. The work was quick, the result  is awesome :-) 

Брошка "Колібрі"

Днями закінчила пошиття нового зимового пальта. Пальто велике, вільного крою і доволі темне. Одразу захотілося його якось прикрасити і найкращою ідеєю виявилося вишити гожу брошку. Серед тих, що у мене на черзі до виготовлення, була ця маленька пташка. Гарний вибір завдяки кольоровій гамі. Робота була швидкою, результат чудовий :-) 

The brooch is from the kit so I just followed the instruction. All the materials were nice. There is only one, let's say uncomfortable, thing. The wire for the beak is too soft so when wearing the brooch, one should control the element not to bend. 

Брошка з набору від "Чарівної миті", тож просто виконувала інструкцію. Всі матеріали гарні. Є лише єдина, скажімо незручна, річ. Дріт для дзьобу надто м'який, тож під час носіння брошки варто контролювати цей елемент щоб не гнувся.
