Southern Weekend Knot Skirt

I don't like writing blogposts after a new garment stopped being actually new because of being worn for a week or two. On the other hand, having the experience of wearing such clothing, it's possible to share impressions about it and to be sure entirely if the garment is worthy to sew indeed. It is an exact story of this skirt #104 from Burda 4/2022. From this issue I also made dress #108 last year. As it most times happens when choosing the patterns, the model of the skirt was a love from the first sight and quite quickly I chose the fabric from my stash but  wasn't ready to make it at once as the sewing promised to be bothering enough. This year, as it was mentioned in the previous post, the producing of the time consuming things is out of trouble so I spent for this project almost three days with pleasure, and I do enjoy the outcome a lot! 

The model is bias cut so requires almost two meters of fabric, there are leftovers but they are unshaped and can be good as extra material for a kind of decoration in other projects. The fabric must be dense to keep the silhouette but not stiff to create the draping well. Mine is dense but not very thin viscose, besides, I lined the skirt to feel confident and not to focus on what underwear to put on. 

I was wearing the skirt last weekend which turned to be unexpectedly busy with activity. It started with Saturday matinee in Mykolaiv Ukrainian Music Comedy Theatre and, after lunch with a friend, continued in Drama Theatre on Admiralska Street where I was present at a kind of a lecture about Ukrainian books in TEDx Talks style, and then we were watching a documentary about one of our local war heroes Oleksander Tereshchenko shot by his book Life after 16:30. 

After all those events the skirt still looked decent and didn't cause any doubts in my right choice.

Не люблю я писати дописи після того як нове вбрання вже втратило статус "нове", оскільки носилося тиждень чи два. З іншого боку, маючи досвід використання такого одягу, можна поділитися враженнями щодо цього та вже бути цілком впевненим чи варто було його шити. Ось це і є історія цієї спідниці 104 з Burda 4/2022. З цього ж числа журналу минулого року я пошила сукню 108. Як в більшості випадків і трапляється, коли обираєш викрійки, модель спідниці - то була любов з першого погляду і тканину зі своїх  запасів доволі швидко підібрала, але шити одразу була не готова, адже пошиття обіцяло багато мороки. Цього року, як вже згадувала в попередньому дописі, складні процеси мене не дратують, тож із задоволенням витратила на роботу майже повних три дні і результат надзвичайно догодив! 

Спідниця має косий крій, тож потребує майже два метри тканини, залишки є, але їх можна використати як оздоблювальну тканину для інших виробів. Тканина має бути щільна, щоб тримати силует, але не жорстка, щоб вузол добре задрапірувався. У мене це щільна не дуже тонка віскоза, крім того, я поставила спідницю на підкладку, щоб почуватися впевнено і не думати, яку білизну одягати. 

Спідницю вперше одягала минулих вихідних, які виявилися несподівано жвавими. Почалися вони з денної вистави в нашому Українському театрі і продовжилися, після обіду з подругою, в Драматичному на Адміральський, де я була присутня на лекції в стилі TEDx Talks про українські книжки, після чого ми переглянули документальний фільм про нашого Олександра Терещенка, знятий за його книгою "Життя після 16:30". 

Після всіх тих заходів спідниця виглядала пристойно і не спричинила жодних сумнівів у моєму виборі. 

The instruction in the magazine has illustration how to join the front parts, the details have enough marks to check so it is not hard to understand what to do.

Інструкція в журналі має ілюстрації, як з'єднувати передні частини, деталі мають достатньо позначок щоб підібрати що до чого, тож,  що робити зрозуміти неважко.

The lining took some time and the most tedious part was the bottom and the slit's edges hemming which was made by hands with invisible stitch on this thin fabric. To some degree, I am proud of myself for doing that :-) 

Певний час пішов на пришивання підкладки, але найнуднішою частиною стало підшивання вручну потайним стібком на цій тонкий тканині низу та країв розрізу. До певної міри я навіть пишаюся тим, що зробила це :-) 

Depending on the mood the skirt pairs well with few items. With a new red top, the theme for the next post about the second day of the weekend, with an embroidered blouse and an old T-shirt. 

В залежності від настрою спідниця добре комбінується з декількома речами. З новим червоним топом, тема для наступного допису про другий день тих вихідних, з вишитою блузкою та старою футболкою.
