The projects can be different. Some of them are made quickly, at one breath with much of enjoyment from the process and the outcome. Some projects are being thought over for a long time with changing ideas, and the outcome is far from what you had planned to do before the work started. I could probably name a couple more variants but right now want to tell about the one which is presenting here. It is the case when you like everything: the model, the fabric, the fitting, the outcome but you try so much to do your best that eventually overdo and spoil the work.
The fabric was bought specially to make a skirt matching the sweater in the photo. I remember I was sure I would make the skirt quickly as it takes much less time than knitting. But the sweater is ready since last February and the skirt since last Saturday :-)

Проекти бувають різні. Деякі виконуються швидко, на одному подиху, з великим задоволенням від процесу і результату. Деякі обмірковуються довго, зі зміною ідей, а на виході отримуєш щось зовсім не те, що збиралася шити перед початком роботи. Мабуть змогла б назвати ще декілька варіантів, але зараз хочу розповісти про той, який представляю тут. Це коли тобі все подобається: і тканина, і модель, і як сидить і що виходить, але ти так стараєшся зробити як найкраще, що зрештою псуєш роботу.
Тканину було куплено спеціально, щоб пошити спідницю до светра на фото. Пам'ятаю, що була впевнена, що пошию спідницю швидко, оскільки на це іде набагато менше часу ніж на плетіння. Проте, светр готовий ще з минулого лютого, а спідниця - з минулої суботи :-)
To get a balanced outfit with a loose sweater the skirt had to be a kind of pencil. I looked through all my magazines and chose pattern #105 from Burda 11/2013. As the skirt is bias cut and I didn't want to have troubles with check control along the seams, I decided to sew the pipes into them. And as for me, it turns to be a really good idea.
Щоб отримати збалансоване вбрання зі светром вільного силуету, спідниця мала бути типу олівець. Я переглянула всі свої журнали і обрала модель 105 з Burda 11/2013. Оскільки спідницю покроєно навскіс і морочитися зі співпадінням кліток у швах не хотілося, я вирішила вшити в них кант. Як на мене, це виявилася справді гарна ідея.
When I tried the skirt on, the fitting was great and nothing told me about anything wrong. After sewing a zipper, the back seam became stretched beneath the zipper. I wasn't aware of it until the skirt was ready, and then I felt it and saw in the mirror. Thus now I have either to rip the lining, zipper, seam, and cut the extra fabric along the waist and then compile all those again or to wear the clothes covering my fail.
Коли я приміряла спідницю, посадка була чудова і нічого не натякало на якесь неподобство. Після вшивання блискавки, задній шов під нею розтягнувся. Я цього не усвідомлювала поки спідниця не була готова, а потім відчула і побачила у дзеркалі. Тож тепер я маю або відпороти підкладку, випороти блискавку, шов та відрізати по талії залишок тканини, а потім все це зшити знову, або носити одяг, який прикриватиме мою невдачу.
Along the waist the skirt was pretty wide, I was afraid of something like that actually happened with the back seam so decided to add one more dart instead to deepen front darts or take more fabric into the piped seams; then sewed the lining and then looked into the instruction. The skirt turned out to have a waistband, I mean in the magazine. Mine doesn't.
По талії спідниця була доволі широка, тож я вирішила зробити додаткову виточку, оскільки боялася, що станеться щось на кшталт того, що сталося зі швом задньої частини, тож не хотіла поглиблювати виточки переду або забирати більше тканини в шви з кантами; потім пришила підкладку, а потім подивилася в інструкцію. Виявилося, що у спідниці є пасок по талії, я маю на увазі в журналі. У моєї немає.
This week we were shelled awfully again and the fear came back very quickly so this time my sewing was not just plunging into the hobby but also a kind of the quick treat the balance if it is really possible to restore it ever in general. As I mostly have no plans what to sew, only ambitious intention to live about 300 or 500 years to use all my stash, the choice of the project was spontaneous. However, the pattern and the fabric were matched long ago, right after getting Burda 11/2022, by that moment I'd already had this knits in my stash, and the decision was made in favour of dress #120 at the first glance on the magazine's photo.
The fabric is two-layerd knits, its right side is melange of red brick colour and dark grey or black with a bit fluffy surface. The wrong side is smooth but prone to getting snags in it which are invisible on the right. I had a couple indeed before knew this fact. The fabric is quite popular here and can be found in different colours but it was my first experience to work and wear it.
I also planned to make a piece of jewellery to complete the garment but the set of necklaces and earrings Lvivsky Square matched it very well so I didn't have to postpone the wearing the dress. I was ready to go out as soon as the work was over.

Цього тижня нас знову жахливо обстріляли і страх дуже швидко повернувся тож цього разу моє шиття було не лише занурення у хобі, але також щось на кшталт можливості швидко відновити баланс, якщо таке взагалі можливо. Оскільки планів що я буду шити у мене переважно не буває, а є лише амбіційний намір прожити років 300-500, щоб використати всі запаси тканини, вибір проекту був спонтанний. А ось вибір викрійки та тканини був визначений давно, одразу після отримання випуску Burda 11/2022, на той момент у мене вже був цей трикотаж і рішення на користь сукні 120 було зроблене з першого погляду на фото в журналі.
Тканина - двошаровий трикотаж, його лицева сторона меланжева, суміш красно-цегляного та темно-сірого або чорного з трохи пухнастої поверхньою. Зворотна сторона - гладенька, схильна до утворення затяжок яких з лиця не видно. Перед тим як я про це дізналося, вже пару зробила. Тканина тут доволі популярна і її можна знайти в різних кольорах, але у мене це перший досвід і роботи з нею і носіння.
Щоб доповнити вбрання я хотіла зробити нову прикрасу, але набір намист та сережки "Львівський квадрат" добре пасують до сукні, тож мені не довелося відкладати одягання сукні, я була готова виходити щойно роботу було закінчено.
I also like the pullover #121 by this pattern and thought about making it, too, but as the dress was first, I decided to take the sleeves from the pullover for it because of the fabric's great drape.
Мені також сподобався пуловер за цією викрійкою і я думала його пошити теж, але оскільки сукня вийшла першою, вирішила взяти для ней рукава від пуловеру, тому що тканина дуже гарно драпірується.
The facing was topstitched for 5 cm from the neck hole.
Обшивку відстрочила на 5 см від краю горловини.
So, are you ready for sea voyage? I am. Actually, it means that being overwhelmed with memories and emotions, I yielded the temptation and bought a few brooch kits from Charivna Myt again. And more than that, one of them is already ready although they've been delivered only this week. This time it's so gorgeous, chic, and sparkling that deserves to be defined not just plain Dolphins but Baroque Style Dolphins :-)
Брошка "Дельфіни"
Ну що, готові до морської подорожі? Я точно готова, хоча насправді це лише означає, що переповнена спогадами та емоціями, я поступилася спокусі та знову купила декілька наборів для виготовлення брошок від "Чарівної миті". Більш того, одна з них вже готова, хоча доставка була лише цього тижня. Цього разу вона така яскрава, сяюча і чарівна, що одразу видно, що не просто якісь звичайні "Дельфіни", а "Дельфіни в стилі бароко" :-)
Embroidering the brooch took me two evenings and today the full compiling, which usually takes no more than about an hour, took half a day. I guess it because the beading of the edges happened to be troublesome. As it clear from the photos both of the outlines, inner and outer, are quite winding and, probably, I had to cut less inside to make the process easier. On the other hand, as it is it looks better.
На вишивання брошки пішло два вечори, а сьогодні, щоб все зібрати до купи, витратила ще пів дня, хоча зазвичай на це іде плюс-мінус година. Думаю тому, що обшивка країв була проблематична: як видно з фото обидва контури, і зовнішній і внутрішній, доволі звивисті і, мабуть, щоб полегшити собі роботу, варто було менше вирізати всередині, хоча так як є виглядає краще.
