As Serious As Daisy Dress:-)

No, this dress doesn't say "goodbye, summer", or "summer, please, stay for long". And it doesn't say "welcome, autumn" in any way either. It just embodies the absence of wish to come back to serious doings and responsible working days after such a wonderful summer. I mean the vacation is over pretty long ago (I have some doubts if it was indeed:-)) but it is so desirable to save relaxed and a little frivolous mood as long as possible so why not use some skills to pamper oneself with so bright outfit that makes one feel as if wrapped in a tiny piece of the daisy sky...

Сукня "Серйозна, як ромашка":-)

Ні, це сукня не "прощавай, літо", або "я так хочу, чтоби лєто нє кончалось". І в жодному разі це не сукня "welcome, осінь"...  Це просто втілене в одязі небажання повертатися до серйозних справ і відповідальних робочих днів після такого чудового літа. Тобто відпустка вже давно закінчилась (та вона, взагалі, була?:-)), але ж так хочеться залишатися в доброму гуморі і в трохи легковажному настрої якнайдовше. То чому б не скористатися своїм вмінням та не потішити себе таким   яскравим вбранням, що дозволяє почуватися нібито обгорнутим шматочком         ромашкового неба...

For this bright cheerful staple, the pattern had to be simple but with a chance to use the draping ability of the fabric. And this model #107 from Burda 11/2005 corresponded to the expectation. The modifications are not pivotal but obvious: shortened sleeves, the facings instead of lining, and a zipper in the side seam instead of in the middle of the back. The latter was made without any necessity, just because the zipper I bought was as blue as the grass in the backyard (I have no idea why I chose it) so I just sewed a white zipper and in the side seam it doesn't catch the eye.

Для цього яскравого життєрадісного штапелю модель мала бути простою, але такою, щоб скористатися його чудової здатністю гарно драпіруватись. І ця сукня №107 з Burda 11/2005 цілком виправдала мої сподівання. Зміни в конструкції не кардинальні, але  очевидні: вкорочений рукав, обшивки замість підкладки і блискавка в боковому шві замість центру спинки. Це останнє не було б жодної необхідності робити, якби я купила "блискавку", яка б хоч приблизно нагадувала колір тканини, а не трави на  якомусь інопланетному городі, тому я просто вшила білу "блискавку" в боковому шві, щоб вона не муляла очі.

For a lovely look of such dresses, the hemming has the crucial meaning: its skirt is doomed to be sagging because of its bias cut. I've already mentioned this elementary trick to make a nice hem so just remind "how to" here once again. Generally, any skirt or dress's hem must be marked in this way but in the case of widening to the bottom skirts, it is obligatory.

Для гарного вигляду подібних суконь вирішальне значення має підрубка подолу спідниці, бо вона приречена витягуватися оскільки покроєна навскіс. Я вже згадувала цей елементарний прийом, тому зараз просто хочу нагадати, що за чим. Загалом, це стосується обробки подолу будь-якої спідниці, або сукні, але для тих, які мають розширення донизу, це просто обов'язкова техніка.

All the fibers have their own limit of sagging (if it is possible to say so) and it means the fabric can't sagging and stretching endlessly. That's why to avoid it while wearing the clothes, first of all, after finishing the work on your item, hang it for a couple of days for sagging and stretching.

Всі волокна тканини мають свій, так би мовити, ліміт витягування, тому тканина не може витягуватись безкінечно. Щоб уникнути цього під час носіння одягу, перш за все по закінченні роботи над виробом, потрібно дати йому відвісити хоч пару днів.

We must remember that the skirt should have the same length not from the waist to the hem (our figures are not perfect so it is just impossible) but from the ground to the hem. If you have a special device to do mark the hemline, then you are fine but if you, like me, just a usual person, invite your friend to help you. As for me, my mum always does it. As you see, we do it with the help of a long wooden ruler but any wooden stick can be used. By the way, I stood on the table just for the picturing. In real life do it barefoot standing on the floor, please, not to fall or hurt yourself or your table (as it happened to mine) in any way. So put the mark of the desired length of your skirt and on the ruler. Then turn very slowly (move, the ruler must stay on the same spot!) to make the same marks along all the width of your skirt. You'll be very surprised by what you see. The last mark must be checking: it means to coincide with the first one.

Маємо пам'ятати, що поділ спідниці повинен мати однакову довжину не від талії до низу ( фігури наші не досконалі, тому це просто неможливо), а від підлоги до спідниці. Якщо у тебе є спеціальний пристрій це робити, тоді ти все знаєш, але якщо, ти така ж звичайна людина, як і я, тоді поклич подругу допомогти. Мені все життя допомагає відмічати  лінію низу мама. Як бачиш, знадобиться дерев'яна лінійка і крейда. До речі, я залізла на стіл лише заради МК. В реальному житті роби це, будь ласка, босоніж на підлозі, щоб не зашкодити собі жодним чином, або не пошкодити стіл (як це трапилось з моїм). Отже, намічаємо крейдою бажану довжину спідниці на самій спідниці і на лінійці. Потім повільно рухаємось по колу і продовжуємо ставити такі самі мітки по всій ширині спідниці ( рухайся сама, лінійка має залишатися на місці!). Те, що ти побачиш, тебе дуже здивує. Остання мітка має бути контрольною, тобто збігатися з першою.

Now take the dress off and spread it on the table (if it is big enough or on the floor). Connect the chalk marks to get the hemline. Cut fabric by this new line. I prefer such marking just to even the bottom of the skirt, then cut and then mark the seam allowance. But somebody may like to mark the seam allowance at once: in this way, you can pin your hem and see what you have after sewing the hem.

Тепер знімаємо сукню і розкладаємо або на столі, якщо він достатньо великий, або на підлозі. Сполучаємо всі мітки однією лінією і таким чином отримуємо нову лінію низу. Обрізаємо зайву тканину по новій лінії. Я завжди в такий спосіб просто вирівнюю лінію низу, і вже потім намічаю припуск на підгин подолу. Але можна ставити мітки одразу з урахуванням припуску. Тоді можна підколоти його шпильками побачити, як спідниця виглядатиме в готовому вигляді.

You can hem the dress in any of your favourite ways. As for me, when working with thin fabrics, I just fold the edge twice for about 0.7 cm, iron it, and sew by the machine.

  

Можеш обробляти низ в будь-який свій улюблений спосіб. Я, наприклад, коли працюю з тонкими тканинами, просто підгинаю край спідниці двічі по 0.7 см, пропрасовую і застрочую на машинці.

As always after finishing the most interesting is the playing with paring the clothes. As the dress is light and the morning is pretty chilly, and I still want to wear the dress then something warm will match.

Як завжди, найцікавіше - погратися в комбінування одягу. Оскільки сукня легка, а ранкі вже прохолодні, а мені все ж таки хочеться її одягнути, то знадобиться щось трохи тепліше до пари.
№1 - плетений на спицях короткий жакет, який я зробила минулого року. Модель тут.
№2 - кольору небіленого полотна жакет, не новий, пошитий з давнішнього номеру Burda, точний номер не пам'ятаю, але як він мені трапиться, то одразу ж вкажу тут.
№3 - довгий жовтий жакет плетений гачком три роки тому. Модель тут.

And to adorn my everyday routine completely I added to the dress this necklace :-)





А щоб вже сповна прикрасити будні, я додала до сукні це намисто :-)
