Georgina Colour Buttoned Dress

Talks about suiting and non-suiting colours confuse me sometimes a lot.  I agree that colours should match each other in the same outfit and overall but as for the certain palette every person must follow, I have doubts... To wear the same colours every day is boring and the simplest way to embellish everyday routine with diversity is to choose different colours for clothes. I like bright ones and I know either it is red or blue or purple - they suit me but if to read various bits of advice about my choice, they can in no way. And the proverb about different tastes doesn't work here because not to argue about tastes, the taste must be cultivated at first.
I believe the colour preference is like the preference of aromas or music - if it is in harmony with our state of mind, inner world and the present mood, it makes us feel comfortable and so can't but suit. When something changes inside us, our preferences change as well.
The colour of my new dress just called me... don't know why. It seemed to be ideal at the moment of choice and as soon as I decided to sew this pattern in this colour, I wasn't going to refuse my idea... Or maybe it is just a kind of obstinacy: either this one or none at all. Or maybe I've had no purple summer dress up to now so found it would be great :-)
Who knows, the result is here and that is all:-)

Сукня "Колір жоржини"

Іноді мене бентежать розмови про кольори, які личать або не личать. Згодна, що кольори мають добре сполучатися і в одному вбранні і в цілому, але у мене є великі сумніви щодо того, чи варто дотримуватися певної палітри... Носити одні і ті самі кольори - нудно, а найпростіший спосіб прикрасити нашу щоденну рутину - обирати для одягу різні барви. Я люблю яскраві кольори і знаю, що і червоний і синій або і фіолетовий -  мені личать, але якщо почитати різні поради щодо мого вибору, то такого не може бути. Прислів'я про різні смаки тут не працює, бо щоб про смаки не сперечатися, їх треба спочатку  мати.

Я думаю, що прихильність до кольору - це як прихильність до аромату або до музики. Якщо він в гармонії з нашим станом душі, внутрішнім світом і настроєм, то він стає улюбленим і просто не може не личити. Якщо всередині нас щось змінюється, наша прихильність змінюється теж.
Колір моєї нової сукні просто мене покликав... не знаю чому. Можливо він здався ідеальним у хвилину вибору і щойно я вирішила шити цю модель в такому кольорі, вже не збиралася відмовлятися від свого наміру... А можливо це просто якийсь різновид впертості: або цей, або ніякий взагалі. А може тому, що досі  у мене не було літньої сукні такого кольору, от я і вирішила, що це буде те, що треба:-)

The main problem for me with this pattern #105 from Burda 6/2016 was to decide on what side of the sateen stretch, wrong (matte) or right (shining), cut the dress. That is all what bothered me while preparing to sew... I am a pretty confident person especially when it goes about cutting fabric:-)) But this time the development of the dilemma became funny indeed: thinking over the sewing in the morning I was inclined to make the shining side right but in the afternoon changed the opinion on the opposite... At last I got worn of that, stopped hesitating and started the work. The wrong side became right.

Головною моєю проблемою з цією моделлю 105 з Burda 6/2016 стало вирішити, на яку сторону сатину, виворітну (матову) чи лицьову (блискучу), кроїти сукню. Це все, що мене хвилювало перед початком пошиття... Я доволі впевнена у собі людина, особливо коли йдеться про розрізання тканини:-)) Але цього разу розвиток дилеми став просто кумедним: розмірковуючи над пошиттям вранці я схилялася до крою на блискучу сторону, а по обіді змінювала думку на протилежну. Зрештою мені це набридло, я припинила вагатися і почала роботу. Виворітна сторона стала лицевою.

The change in the cutting concerns the front placket. I made it without interfacing but cut it in different way from the magazine's. From my previous posts it is known I prefer a single piece plackets but here it was not possible to make because of few front reliefs. So I drew three widths of the placket (3 cm x 3= 9 cm ) and added the seam allowances for the short sides and only for one long side. In this way one of the layers plays a part of interfacing but the placket saves its pliability and it almost doesn't gather in the seams when being sewed to the front.
After the cutting bend the edge without seam allowance twice and press.

Зміна в крої стосується планки переду. Я її зробила без прокладки, але кроїла в інший від журнального спосіб. З моїх попередніх дописів відомо, що мені подобаються цільнокроєні планки. Але тут таку не можна було зробити через рельєфи передньої частини. Отже я накреслила три ширини планки (3 см х 3= 9 см) і додала припуски на шви з коротких сторін і лише з однієї довгої. Таким чином один з шарів тканини слугує прокладкою, але при цьому планка зберігає пластичність і майже не збирається під час пришивання.
Після крою складаємо двічі край без припуску і припрасовуємо.

Then put the right side of the placket to the wrong side of the front and stitch along the centre. Then stitch the short sides. Bend the placket on the front and stitch it to the front.


Потім складаємо лицеву сторону планки з виворітною стороною передньої частини і настрочуємо уздовж краю.  Потім зшиваємо короткі сторони планки. Перегинаємо планку на перед і настрочуємо з лиця.

The zest of the dress is its belt. Here I made it with the seam on the centre.



Справжня родзинка цієї сукні - її пояс.. Я його зробила зі швом по середині.

As my buckles' width is only 4 cm instead of 5, the belt is 4 cm width, too. And I top stitched it along the edges and twice more  instead of triple.
I also recommend to cut the corners of the front short sides of the belt because in this way after sewing the edges will look neat and won't be seen.

Оскільки пряжки у мене завширшки 4 см замість 5, то і пояс - завширшки 4 см теж. І я відстрочила його вздовж краю по довгим сторонам і проклала дві оздоблювальні строчки замість трьох.
Також порадила б зрізати куточки коротких сторін поясу, які пришиватимуться до передньої частини, так вони виглядатимуть охайно після пришивання і не будуть виглядати.

Despite pretty complex pattern the dress is worthy sewing. It has quite tight fitting but made from stretching material is comfortable enough. The dress is embellished with the beaded buttons. Almost all the seams of the dress are double top stitched.
I didn't make any jewelry for the dress purposely. I have the idea so maybe realise it later, besides, these earrings matched very well.


Хоча модель і складна, її варто шити. Сукня має доволі щільне прилягання, але зроблена з тканини з додаванням еластану, залишається комфортною. Прикрасила її обплетеними ґудзиками. Майже всі шви сукні відстрочені подвійною оздоблювальною строчкою.
Спеціально для неї прикраси не робила - ідея є, то може колись і зроблю, та і ці сережки чудово підійшли.
