About Me
- Oksana Starzhynska
- My blog's main subjects are sewing, the thing in which I am experienced the most, and beadwork, which is, in fact, pushed me into blogging. I am also engaged in knitting and crocheting. All together they are the set of skills which I use to make my wardrobe my whole life. These are not my only interests, I also like the English language (that's one of the reasons that my blog is bilingual), try to travel around my country and abroad (when can afford it), am interested in art (to the degree of a dilettante but nevertheless) and adore the people who can create anything beautiful or useful whatever it is :-) So welcome to a needlecrafter diary!

Red Drop Earrings, or Christmas Eve
The tradition to put New Year's Tree before December 25 was established in our family long ago, so extra day off only strengthened the feeling of holiday this year. I decided I deserved a nice day last Sunday so invited my cousin's family to buy a tree together. It turned out to be funny to choose the tree with a company and then carry it in public transport. On the way home we met only approving smiles and heard only nice words around (it was a surprise too!:-))
The earrings consist of two elements: a bezelled 8 mm chaton and a crystal drop rivoli. The chaton was bezelled exactly like in the necklace. The rivoli was bezelled starting with 38 seed beads 10/0 (two rows). I was also glad to use so many 15/0 charlottes for this set. I have them a lot but as even my needle #13 is too big to bead with them, I have to do that with beading right with the thread. Not very comfortable but I still don't know other way.
Sewing the elements took surprisingly much time. The rivoli is pretty heavy comparing with the chaton so after joining them the earring was disbalanced and the drop stack out in the way I didn't like. Then I added one more row, the paralel row of 15/0 seed beads behind the first joining row and in this way it turned out well.
