Helix Spiral

I was quite curious to look up what is "Helix" and it turned out to be an English term for one of protein structures... Should I say "wow" or "hmm"? :-)) When I learned such stuff at school I could never suppose it would be in use in connection with any of my occupation unless I was a chemist... So  that knowledge was, in fact, the dead weight until I started beading and the time came to master this kind of spiral... It seems to be closer to the "wow". :-) So this is a biological and lexicological background of the project. It also has a sentimental part. 

The black  bugles, used for the spirals, were buried in one of my needlework boxes so many years that nobody at home could remember their origin and the way they appeared in the house.  Wrapped in a small old handkerchief, they seemed to accompany me from my childhood and I am glad  that at last they can see a little sunlight.

Альфа-спіраль... гм...

"Гм...гм..." тому що назва виду джгута, який я цими днями, чи точніше ночами, опанувала, належить вторинній структурі білка... ну, що скажете? А напевно будучи учнями запитували себе, навіщо ми це в школі вчимо.. А ось навіщо, щоб коли вам виповниться невідомо скільки років і ви захопитеся нанизуванням і побачите англійську назву "Helix", вам дуже захочеться дізнатись, що воно таке, і виявиться, що це назва частини основи життя. :-) Це, так би мовити, лінгвістично-біологічна сторона справи. А ще є сентиментальна... 

Чорний стеклярус, використаний в спіралі, був глибоко захований десь в одній з моїх коробок  так давно, що ніхто не зміг згадати, звідки він взагалі узявся. Загорнутий в старий вицвілий носовичок, він, здається, супроводжував мене більшу частину життя і я рада, що нарешті він побачить трохи сонячного світла.

It is really a very easy spiral. All the effect is in the alternating of the seed beads and bugles. There are many variants of its beading, the design depends only on the choice of beads and  your taste. I chose this one  from +Potomac Bead Company  because it is the simplest and because I had as many black bugles as it was necessary to make a bracelet and a necklace. 

Initially I made two samples and chose the first one.

Це і справді дуже простий джгут.  Весь ефект полягає в чергуванні бісеру і стеклярусу. Є багато різних варіантів, дизайн залежить лише від вибору матеріалів і вашого смаку. Я обрала цей від +Potomac Bead Company, тому що він найпростіший і стеклярусу виявилося достатньо і на браслет і на намисто.

Спочатку зробила два зразки, обрала перший.

To make the bracelet took me a few hours. And as I liked both the process and the result very much, I also made the necklace last night. 

На браслет пішло декілька годин, мені дуже сподобався і процес і результат, то наступного вечора (читай - ночі), я нанизала ще і намисто.

As for the necklace, hope some pictures how to make a clasp will be helpful or useful.

Щодо намиста, сподіваюсь, стануть в нагоді декілька фото про те, як я зробила застібку.

The spiral is soft and the necklace can be worn as a bracelet as well if to wrap it around the wrist two times. Then the set can be completed with earrings (on their design I'm still thinking :-))

Джгут дуже пластичний, можна обгорнути навколо зап'ястка пару разів і носити як браслет, тоді можна ще і сережки вдягнути ( але над їх дизайном я ще думаю:-))
