Twin Bezel for 27 mm Rivoli, or More Mesmerizing Shine

So let's get back to our sheep, I mean to beading  twin bezels and this time it goes about a big one - for  27 mm rivoli. I have doubts as for its unique nature but as I haven't found any free tutorial to do that, I am pretty proud of myself and my work  and am absolutely ready to share what I learnt and what mistakes made.

I must confess I experimented few evenings. I got a very good result but one of my big rivolis lost its amalgam covering and in this way instead a shining element I have a piece of glass that is only good to go on experimenting. What I learnt from this lesson: the rivloli's back should be beaded in full.

Як обплести ріволі на 27 мм, або Ще більше гіпнотичного сяйва

Ну що ж, як казав Карлсон, продовжимо розмову :-) Мова піде про оплетіння твінами ріволі на 27 мм. Можливо я і не перша в цій справі, але жодного безкоштовного МК, як це зробити, я не знайшла, тому пишатимусь собою і своїм витвором, а разом і поділюсь набутими під час роботи досвідом та зробленими помилками.

Маю зізнатись, що експериментувала декілька вечорів: гарний результат я отримала, але зрештою на одному з моїх великих ріволі частково витерлося амальгамне покриття і з чарівного елементу він перетворився на шматок скла за 17 гривень, то тепер на ньому можна проводити експерименти безкінечно. Висновок з цього уроку: задню стінку ріволі бажано оплітати повністю. 

All the materials were mentioned already in the previous post so just go on. Start the work with 11 twins locked in the ring, then bead the second row. The third row is increasing: bead two twins after every one from the second row but to avoid twisting and to get better fitting of the bezel, add only one twin after the last one of the previous row. In this way we have the circle base of 21 twins. 

Then go on beading with these number of twins. Try the bezel on your rivoli, add one or two more rows and finish with alternation of twins and seed beads. That's all. 

Всі необхідні матеріали вказані в попередньому дописі, то просто продовжую. Починаємо роботу з 11 твінів замкнених у кільце, нанизуємо другий  ряд. В третьому ряду подвоюємо твіни: додаємо по два після кожного твіну з другого ряду, але, щоб уникнути перекручування та отримати краще прилягання цапа, останню прибавку не робимо, тобто додаємо лише один твін. Таким чином маємо основу з 21 твіну.

Продовжуємо нанизування цією кількістю твінів. Приміряємо ріволі в цап, додаємо ще два-три ряди і закінчуємо рядом з чергуванням твіна та бісерини. Це все.

The final embellishment with the drops is the same as for the small rivolis. The only difference, I added two rows of drops instead of one.

Кінцеве оздоблення дропсами виконуємо так само як і для маленьких ріволі. Єдина відмінність, замість одного ряду дропсів я додала два.

The next step is to decide how to arrange all the elements and that is the question of your fantasy and wish. All the elements are connected as in same way. It is the same like in this tutorial  but instead two rows of twin-connectors, I made three because the big rivoli is quite heavy so I thought it would be more reliable.

What I learnt; add the twins for the connection while reinforcing the bezel because otherwise it will be difficult to pass through the beads few times more then. 

На наступному етапі вирішуємо, як розташувати всі елементи, це вже питання твоєї фантазії та бажання. Всі елементи з'єднані однаково. Так само як в цьому МК, але замість двох рядів твінів-коннекторів, я зробила три. Великий ріволі доволі важкий, тому я подумала, що так буде надійніше.

Чому я навчилась; додавай твіни-конектори під час зміцнення цапа, тому що в іншому випадку протягнути нитку (леску) ще декілька разів через намистини буде важко.

The final element after assembling looked in this way. And now is the right time to think about the rest of the necklace.

Остаточний елемент виглядав ось так після зборки. І якраз саме час подумати про решту намиста.

As I had a lot of twins of both colours and spirals are my great weakness I decided to learn new technique to use as more twins as possible. I also wanted to make toggle of twins.

I found only two kinds of spirals made of twins and this one matches much better the idea of my necklace so I learnt it. In the same tutorial you can find the way how to bead toggle but I used only instructions for the ring. The bar was made with peyote (there are a lot of tutorials, you can choose whatever you like). In fact, it is the same beaded bead like I did for this necklace, I just made it bigger and decorated with twins.

Оскільки я мала набагато більше ніж треба твінів і маю певну сдабкість до джгутів, то я засвоїла нову техніку, щоб використати їх якнайбільше. Крім того, вирішила сплести і тогл.

Знайшла  лише два вида джгутів з твінів і цей сподобався мені більше, до того ж він якраз відповідає ідеї намиста. В цьому ж МК є зразок виконання тоглу, але я лише скористалася інструкцією виготовлення кільця застібки. Поперечину я нанизала пейотом (є багато МК, можна вибрати щось до вподоби). Фактично це така сама намистина, як я робила для цього намиста., тільки більша і я прикрасила її твінами.

Twin Bezel for 12 mm Rivoli or Mesmerizing Shine (earrings)

I was focusing on making the bezels so much that even had no ideas for the name of the ready earrings. So headed to one of my colleagues who always has awesome words to describe my pieces of beading to know how she sees these components. Her opinion was univocal - they are like magic flowers... I don't mind calling them in this way... Obviously whatever I make, flowers appear anyway... it is just hypnosis of some kind :-)

Як оплести ріволі на 12 см, або Гіпнотичне Сяйво (сережки)

Була настільки зосереджена на оплетінні ріволі, що не мала жодних ідей для назви сережок. То попрямувала до однієї з моїх колежанок, яка завжди має гарні емоції і слова для опису моїх рукотворів. Її думка була однозначною - це якісь магічні квіти... Я не проти так їх назвати... Отже, щоб я не робила, завжди виходять квіти... просто якийсь гіпноз :-)

So why I was so focusing. My task was to make a twin bezel for 12 mm rivoli. Neither the size nor the material are very popular. Actually I had two taskes - 12 mm and 27 mm rivolis but details about the bigger one will be later. 

What I wanted to make I found here. The problem was - superduo beads are not very available here and not affodable for me anyway so I substitute them for twins and I only could find 12 mm rivolis. So had to change the tutorial in some way. These are my final materials (charlottes 15 are missed but they will be enough on the following pictures): twins of two colours ( I couldn't decide which of them match the rivoli better so used the both ulternately), sead beads 10, rivolis and drops miyuki.

І чим же це я була така заклопотана. Мені потрібно було оплести твінами ріволі на 12 мм. Ані розмір, ані матеріал не є дуже популярними. Друге завдання оплести ріволі на 27 мм, але про це я розповім пізніше.

Що мені хотілося зробити, я знайшла тут. Проблема в тому, що супер дуо намистини знайти важко, та і в будь-якому випадку я собі їх не можу дозволити, тому я їх замінила на твіни, а ріволі лише змогла знайти на 12 мм. Ось і довелося  змінити МК. На фото всі мої матеріали (крім "шарлотти" № 15, але їх буде багато на наступних світлинах): твіни двох кольорів (не змогла вирішити, який краще пасуватиме до ріволі, тому використовувала обидва по черзі), бісер № 10,  дропси міюкі і ріволі.

I followed the instructions but started with 10 twinns locked in the ring and finished with alternations of twin and seed beads 10; joined the drops with charlottes 15 (I wish somebody told me the needle 12 wouldn't pass throught their hole!!!).

Все робила за інструкцією, тільки роботу почала з кільця з 10 твінів, а закінчила чергуванням твінів і бісеру № 10; дропси приєднувала разом з "шарлоттою" №15 (хотіла б я, щось хтось попередив, що моя голка № 12 не пролазить крізь їхній отвір!!!).

                                         7 such elements were made and two of them were used for the earrings.

                                         Таких елементів було зроблено 7 і два з них пішли на сережки.

Tweed Waistcoat or When the Laziness Wins

Sometimes even laziness inspires. How could it be? Very simple. For example, I hate changing the threads into the overlocker from one colour to other... no, it is neither long nor hard... I'm just lazy to do it. It is exactly the case when a person invents the story, that maybe or hardly ever happens. I imagine that suddenly I fasten the threads badly and the knots won't pass through all those holes and loopers, the threads will tear and then I will have to take tweezers and pull the threads through all the labyrinth of the machine's guts.
That's why after finishing the sewing project I think what to make next and evade changing the threads into the serger. This only can happen either if the colour style of the next item doesn't change or if the new project needs no overlocking. This time my laziness led me to sewing the waistcoat from Burda 10/2010 (pattern #125) to pair with the skirt. So I didn't just avoid the changing of the thread I avoided using that machine at all because the waistcoat is lined fully and the seam allowances don't need any processing. That is indolence indeed:-))

The outfit completed with a red flower I beaded the other days. It was made to match the suit purposely and I already accepted the fact I've got a necklace instead of the brooch.

Твідовий Жилет, або Коли лінь перемагає

Іноді надихають навіть лінощі. Як? Дуже просто: я, наприклад, не люблю міняти нитки в оверлоку з одного кольору на інший.. ні, це не важко і не довго, просто... лінуюся я це робити. Це якраз випадок, коли людина вигадує цілу історію, яка ще невідомо чи трапиться чи ні. Ось я уявляю, як раптом погано зв'яжу старі і нові нитки, вузлики не пролізуть через ті всі отвори ниткоспрямовувачів та петлителів, нитки порвуться, тоді треба брати пінцет і лазити по всій машинці.

Тому перше, про що я думаю, коли закінчую кравецький проект, щоб такого наступного пошити, щоб не міняти нитку в оверлоці. Останнє трапляється в двох випадках, якщо кольорова гама тканини не змінюється, або шиється щось, що не потребує обробки зрізів. Цього разу лінощі довели мене до пошиття  твідового жилету з Burda 10/2010 (модель №125) в пару до спідниці. І тепер не треба не лише нитки в оверлоку міняти, він тут взагалі не потрібен, бо припуски на шви не обметують, якщо виріб на підкладці, а мій жилет якраз такий і є.  Оце вже справжня лінь:-))

Вбрання доповнено червоною квіткою, яку я днями зробила. Її було задумано спеціально до нього і я вже змірилася з тим, що замість брошки отримала намисто.

Generally it is a quick project. The fact the waistcoat was resting on my working table more than two weeks doesn't concern the difficulty of its sewing. In the magazine it has the illustrated instructions and I only can add a couple of notes from my experience.

Загалом, це швидкий проект. Той факт, що жилет пролежав на моєму робочому столі більше двох тижнів жодним чином не стосується складності його пошиття. В журналі він іде з ілюстрованим курсом, то я лише додам декілька зауважень з власного досвіду.

1. Although the magazine tells us to reinforce the lining with the interfacing, I did it with the waistcoat itself. The lining is usually smooth fabric (rayon or silk) so the interfacing is kept badly on it.

1. Хоча журнал каже нам укріпити зрізи пройм підкладки, краще це зробити зі зрізами  жилета. Підкладка, як правило, гладенька тканина і тому прокладки клеяться і тримаються на ній погано.

2. There is no troubles with the collar but when joining the collar, bodice and lining I would recommend at first to sew the corners of the collar to the waistcoat on the sewing machine. In this way you will be sure the collar's short sides won't remove and will be even.



2. Немає жодних проблем з обробкою коміра, але при зшиванні основної частини, коміра і підкладки я б рекомендувала спочатку  пристрочити кінчики комірця до жилета. таким чином можна бути впевненим, що його короткі сторони не  зрушаться і будуть однаковими.

3. Before turning the waistcoat  out it looks in this way. Don't forget to cut the seam allowance to about 0.5 cm and make short cuts to the seams on curvy lines.


3. Перед вивертанням на лицеву сторону жилет виглядає ось так. Не забуваємо перед вивертанням жилета підрізати припуски на шви десь до 0,5 см та зробити надсічки до швів на скруглених відрізках

.

4. As always on the corners of the details make the bias stitch to  have ready corners even without any bulging.





4. Як завжди  у кутках деталей виконуємо косий стібок, щоб в готовому вигляді куточки були рівними і без усіляких опуклостей.

5. Before sewing the side seams baste the belts to the back's seam allowance.


5. Перед зшиванням бокових швів приметуємо паски до бокових припусків спинки.

6.  I already told very detailed how to sew the lining to the upper part on the sewing machine in this post. For this waistcoat it is much easier to do this. After turning the waistcoat out and sewing the side seams baste the hem.

6. В цьому дописі я вже докладно розповідала як пришити підкладку до основної частини виробу на машинці. Для такого жилета це зробити ще простіше. Після вивертання і зшивання бокових швів заметуємо припуск на підгинку низу.

Pin and baste the hem seam allowance of the waistcoat and the lining. Leave the short part in the middle of the back for the further waistcoat's turning out. Then sew it them together. 

Сколюємо і заметуємо припуски на підгинку низу жилета та підкладки, залишаємо короткий відрізок для подальшого вивертання жилета по середині спинки незшитим. Потім прокладаємо строчку на машинці.

Now the hem's allowance must be sewed to the waistcoat with a slip stitch. It can be done in any other stitch, the quality will be known for you only:-) The obligation - your thread mustn't be seen on the right side of the waistcoat.





Тепер треба підшити жилет потайним стібком. Це можна зробити і будь-яким іншим стібком, якість буде відома лише тобі. Єдина умова - нитку не має бути видно з лиця.

Now turn the waistcoat out and sew the hole with slip stitch.



Тепер вивертаємо жилет і зшиваємо отвір потайним стібком.

7. All the edges except the hem I processed with top stitches.


7. Всі краї, крім нижнього, я обробила оздоблювальною строчкою.

8. About sewing the buttons or to be exact their placing. Maybe for the smallest size the marking of the buttons on the paper pattern is right but for the bigger ones it is surely wrong. It is easy to see if just to fold the pattern on the centre line. You see the marks of the holes and the buttons don't coincide and it means that in a ready waistcoat the position of buttons' rows will be asymmetrical. In my case the buttons are sewed about 2 cm closer to the centre but it depends on the size, I guess. Having in mind that I would recommend to cut the facing by the pattern of the central front part or reinforce the front part with interfacing instead of the facing. Otherwise the buttons are sewed just to two shares of the fabric (main and lining) and it is not very good.

8. Про пришивання ґудзиків, чи, точніше, про їхнє розташування. Можливо, для найменшого розміру, їхні мітки на паперовій викрійки правильні, але для більших розмірів вони не підходять. Це добре видно, якщо просто зігнути викрійку навпіл по ліній центру: мітки ґудзиків і петель не збігаються  і тому в готовому вигляді ряди ґудзиків будуть пришиті асиметрично. В моєму випадку ґудзики пришиті приблизно на 2 см ближче до центру, але думаю, це залежить від розміру. Пам'ятаючи про цей факт бажано або покроїти підборт за викрійкою середини переду, або укріпити прокладкою середню частину переду, а не підборт. Інакше ґудзики пришиватимуться всього до двох шарів тканин (основної і підкладки), а це не дуже добре.

When telling about the way I'm going to wear the waistcoat I can't help telling about a wonderful person, my G+ friend +Ela W. She is a talented knitter and presented me one of her works - a very nice and stylish scarf that wraps the body like a liana with its big picturesque leaves. It was very unexpected and probably that what is called a Christmas wonder:-) A skillfully made thing, the scarf surely matches the outfit. And I still don't know what I did so deserving to get such a gift, thank you +Ela W.  very much!

Розповідаючи про те, як збираюсь носити це вбрання, не можу не згадати про чудову людину, мою G+ подругу +Ela W. Вона талановита в'язальниця і подарувала мені одну зі своїх робіт - дуже гарний і стильний шарф, що огортає тіло наче ліана з великим живописним листям. Це було дуже несподівано і мабуть якраз це і називають Різдвяним дивом:-) Майстерно зроблена річ шарф добре пасує до костюму. А я так досі і не знаю, що такого зробила, щоб заслужити такий дарунок, щиро дякую +Ela W. !

It is also possible to unbutton the waistcoat up from the waist, then the front parts will become lapels and the belts can be tied in front (their length lets do it).

If I have any more ideas, will make a couple more photos... some day.. may be..:-)

Можна також розстібнути ґудзики від талії до верху, тоді передні частини перетворяться на вилоги, а паски зав'язати по переду (їхня довжина дозволяє).

Якщо матиму ще ідеї, зроблю ще пару фото... колись.. можливо...:-)

Non-stop Blossoming

The end of the term is not the right time for doing hobbies too much. But if to make only the compulsory things first and postpone the ones we enjoy being engaged in, the life becomes as grey as the winter days in my location and then the very sense of life is getting pretty pale. And it out of my rules to let this grey depression increase more. The common order of my life is at least sometimes to follow the call of my soul and the duties will be performed anyway on the simple reason that I'm a responsible person when it goes about the job. And  this post  is devoted to the material result of such beliefs - the most labour-consuming bead work I've ever done. And what else could it be but the red flower? :-)

Безперервне цвітіння

Кінець семестру не той час, коли можна приділити багато уваги захопленням. Але якщо весь час займатися лише обов'язковими справами в першу чергу, а задоволення відкладати на потім, то життя потроху стає таким же сірим як і зимові дні в моєму місті і поступово самий його сенс тьмяніє. Та і не в моїх правилах дозволяти цьому сірому смуткові поглиблюватися ще більше. Загальний порядок мого життя - хоча б інколи слідувати поклику душі, а обов'язки виконуватимуться в будь-якому випадку, бо коли йдеться про роботу, я людина відповідальна. І цей допис присвячений матеріальному результату таких переконань, найбільш трудомісткий бісерний роботі, яку я колись виконувала. І що ж це ще може бути, як не червона квітка? :-)

Everybody can call the flower on own name either a chrysanthemum or, if to have on mind the season, poinsettia or whatever else, however, the original pattern is called "Хризантема" (chrysanthemum) and you can find it here. It is a part of a big set designed by Natalia Kusma. To get the pattern the registration is requested but you get 7 very detailed video tutorials which can be used to study different techniques. As soon as I saw the flower, I wanted to make it but only started the work when sewed the tweed suit. It is very grey so needs some bright accessory :-)
As always I made a couple of changes. Firstly, materials. I used three colours of 10.0 seed beads only. On unknown reason in the pictures the darker hue looks purple but in reality both of the colours are of the same colour style - light and dark raspberry + addition of the gold seed beads for the embellishment. Besides, I had no rivoli so decided to use a button. I guess it was a winsome idea.
And secondly, when making the petals instead of nine 15.0 seed beads I made loops of five 10.0.

At first my plan was to make a brooch. But then I had to stop after the first row of the petals. It would be enough.

Кожний може називати квітку на власний розсуд, хризантемою, або, зважаючи на пору року, пуансетією, проте, оригінальна модель називається "Хризантема" і її можна знайти тут. Це частина великого набору прикрас вигаданого Наталею Кузьмою. Щоб отримати МК, потрібна реєстрація, але ти отримуєш 7 дуже докладних відео уроків, які дають можливість вивчити і багато інших прийомів і технік. Щойно я побачила квітку, захотіла її зробити, але роботу розпочала лише по пошиттю твідового костюму. Він таки дуже сірий і потребує яскравого доповнення:-)
Як завжди я дещо змінила. По-перше, матеріали. Використала три кольори лише бісеру №10. З невідомої причини на фото темніший колір виглядає фіолетовим, але насправді обидва кольори - просто темний і світлий відтінки малинового + вкраплення золотого, щоб прикрасити квітку. Крім того, у мене не було ріволі, тому я використала ґудзик. Думаю, це була гарна ідея.
І по-друге, при нанизуванні пелюсток замість дев'яти бісеринок №15 у мене петлі з п'яти бісерин № 10.

Спочатку я збиралася зробити брошку. Але тоді потрібно було зупинитись після першого ряду пелюсток. Цього було б достатньо.

The beading of the second and the third rows made the flower pretty heavy so the ready item had to become a pendant.






Нанизування другого і третього ряду пелюсток зробило квітку досить важкою, тому готовий виріб повинен був стати кулоном.

Before making a stripe to hang the pendant I had to cover the back side of the flower. And now the button's stem had to be removed. (I didn't do it initially as the flower was supposed to become a brooch so I had the intention to use it for the clasp's fixing.) After that I glued the padding material and sewed the small piece of leather to the back of the bezel.



Перед плетінням смужки для підвішування кулону, я мала прикрити тильну частину ґудзика. Тому його ніжку треба було усунути. (Я цього не зробила спочатку, бо, оскільки збиралася робити брошку, думала використати її для кріплення застібки.) Після цього наклеїла шматочок синтепону і пришила клаптик шкіри до тильної частини квітки.

And now - the stripe. It is made by the size of the rope it will be hang on. But as the flower is heavy, it leaned ahead anyway so I sewed it to the central petal. For the rope I used a faux leather stripe because the flower is very decorative itself and I want it to be worn every day.



Тепер - смужка для петлі кулону. Вона нанизується по розміру джгута, на який буде підвішуватися. Але оскільки квітка важка, вона все одно відхилялася вперед, тому я пришила цю петлю до центральної пелюстки. Замість джгута я взяла тонку поворозку зі штучної шкіри, тому що квітка і так дуже нарядна, а мені б хотілося мати таке намисто на повсякдення.

That's all. The necklace is ready. The most annoying part while making it was the working thread catching every loop of the flower's petals. But now I've already forgotten about that.
The most important - the nice result and enjoyment from well done work.  Besides, such flower will never fade so will never put us in melancholic mood...:-)


Ось і все. Намисто готове. Під час роботи найбільш за все дратувало чіпляння робочої нитки за кожну петлю квітки і я клялася, що більше ніколи такого не робитиму, але зараз я про це вже забула.
Найважливіше - це гарний результат і задоволення від гарно виконаної роботи. До того ж, така хризантема ніколи не відцвіте і тому не навіюватиме меланхолійного настрою...:-)

Few Sparkles at Night

After watching a couple of nice tutorials about beading with cup chain I bought half a meter of it just in case I'd like to make whatever from it some day. This "some day" happened yesterday night when it was the very right time to go to bed. But I probably felt a lack of sparkling during the day and, as this kind of jewelry is not my favourite, the curiosity to make the ring seemed to be surprising enough to yield the temptation to make a simple and quick project instead of following the natural wish to fall asleep:-)

Іскорки проти ночі

Переглянувши декілька цікавих майстер класів про нанизування з ланцюжком кристалів, я купила пів метра такого про всяк випадок, раптом захочеться щось з нього колись зробити. Це "колись" настало вчора проти ночі, якраз коли був саме час лягати спати. Але мабуть мені просто не вистачало сяяння іскорок протягом дня, до того ж мене здивувала моя незвична цікавість до виготовлення каблучки - виду прикрас, який я не дуже люблю. Цього виявилося цілком досить для того, щоб замість слідувати природній потребі у сні, я поступилася спокусі зробити цей простий і швидкий проект:-)

As it was night and the not the good time to match the colour style I decided not to ponder much about it. I thought if to make the ring from the seed beads of beige and brown hues, it will be pretty wearable and will match any outfit. 

Оскільки вже була ніч, час, який не дуже підходить для підбору кольорової гами, я вирішила на ній не зациклюватись. Я подумала, якщо використати бежеві і коричневі відтінки бісеру, то каблучка буде універсальною і пасуватиме до будь якого вбрання.

The tutorial I used  is really clear so after making the first ring I thought it would be good practice to make another one:-) 

Майстер клас, яким я користувалась чіткий і зрозумілий, тому зробивши перший виріб, я подумала, що для практики було б добре зробити ще один:-)

Tweed Skirt & Nostalgia

Tweed is the most typical English fabric (I wonder if the English think the same:-)) and only belonging the Scottish plaid can be compared  with this fact by the banality :-) But this idea was not definitive while choosing the next object for sewing. Besides, my tweed is of Ukrainian production. No, the pushing moment was... nostalgia. Nowadays we hardly use the word in connection with longing for Motherland...  We willingly yearn for other various things mostly and everybody has own list.
I am not the one who enjoys diving into the memories to regret about the things I could do but neglected and about the chances I could use but missed. But like anybody else  I spontaneously plunge into memories being  influenced by certain music, fragrance and, no doubt, by old fashion magazines:-) By the way, to look through the latter was the only thing I was prohibited to do while growing... I guess it only because I was never inclined to bad doings so my parents just couldn't decide what to ban and invented that restriction :-) Or maybe because it was really annoying for my family to see me turning the pages of the same issues (and there were no more than six or seven of them) for years. Who knows... but the result is to the fore - all of my life I'm obsessed with needle work. On different reasons there is none of those magazines from my childhood now, however, to make this skirt I used the pattern from one of the oldest Burda's issues I have, I bought it when was 19. Pretty old... I mean the magazine, of course:-))

Твід - найтиповіша англійська тканина (цікаво, чи англійці думають так само:-))  І з банальністю цього факту можна порівняти лише приналежність шотландської клітинки :-)  Але ця глибока думка не була вирішальною при виборі наступного проекту для пошиття. Крім того, мій твід - українського виробництва. Ні, спонукальним моментом стала... ностальгія. За наших часів навряд чи ми вживаємо це слово сумуючи за Вітчизною... Більш охоче ми тужимо за іншими речами і у кожного свій список.
Не з тих я, хто полюбляє поринати в спогади, щоб волати про речі, які я могла зробити, але знехтувала ними та про можливості, які мала, але втратила. Натомість, як і будь-хто інший, я невимушено занурююсь у спогади викликані певною музикою, ароматами та, без сумніву, старими журналами мод:-) До речі, дивитися їх - це було єдине, що мені колись забороняли робити поки я дорослішала.... Думаю це лише тому, що у мене не було поганих схильностей отже батьки і не могли вигадати жодних інших обмежень, крім цього:-) А може, спостерігання того, як я роками гортаю сторінки одних і тих самих видань (а їх було всього шість чи сім) і справді дратувало. Та як би там не було, але все моє життя я захоплююсь рукотворами. З різних причин жодного з тих журналів з мого дитинства не залишилось, проте, для пошиття цієї спідниці я обрала модель з одного найстаріших чисел Burda, які в мене є. Купила його, коли мені було 19.  Досить старе... маю на увазі видання, звісно:-))

Despite the pattern is old,  none ever says that about the skirt because it is a pleated one and it is not easy to change such a model to the level of  old-fashioned. It is classic and universal.
I also like the single-piece bands a lot both in skirts and trousers. This detail suits well for curvy figures. As the skirt sewed of tweed and the pleats made it double, it gives extra warmth preserving the comfort at the same time. To say in brief, it is one of my favourite skirt's designs and silhouettes: fitting around hips and loose around legs.

Незважаючи на те, що модель стара, про спідницю такого не скажеш, тому що вона в складку і це не так вже просто змінити модель настільки, щоб назвати її старомодною. Вона класична і універсальна.
Я також дуже полюбляю  цільнокроєний пасок і в спідницях чи в штанях. Він добре підходить для фігур з вигинами. Оскільки спідниця з твіду, а складки роблять її подвійною, це додає тепла і в той же час зберігається відчуття зручності. Загалом очевидно, що це один з моїх улюблених фасонів і силуетів спідниць - прилягаючий по стегнах і вільний по низу.

The instruction is simple and the  skirt is easy to make. After sewing the pleats and joining front and back parts it looks in this way.

My piece of advice: don't unbaste the pleats till your work is finished especially if you sew from the fabric without or with little containing of synthetic fibre (it keeps the shape of the pleats very well so is good for making pleats).


Інструкція дуже проста і пошити спідницю не важко. Так вона виглядатиме після зшивання складок та передньої і задньої частин.
Невеличка порада: не видаляйте зметувальні стібки складок до закінчення роботи. Особливо, якщо спідниця з тканини без або з малим вмістом синтетичного волокна ( таке  волокно дуже добре підходить для речей в складку, тому що добре зберігає їх форму).

Then sew the facing of the upper edge. Its inner edge can be processed in two ways: either oversewed (with overlock, for example)  and sewed to the skirt for 6 cm or folded and sewed to the skirt as well. I prefer the second variant because the fabric is pretty fraying out.

Потім пришиваємо обшивку до верхнього краю спідниці. Її внутрішній зріз можна обробити двома способами: або обмітати і пришити до спідниці по розміченій лінії, по моделі - 6 см або підгорнути і пришити так само. Я надаю перевагу другому способу, тому що тканина добре обсипається.

If the fabric is pretty thick, it is good to press the seam allowance of the upper skirt's edge and the facing in two sides. And only then turn the piece out and baste the edge.




Якщо  тканина товста, припуски на шви верхнього краю спідниці і обшивки краще розпрасувати. І лише потім вивернути і виметувати.

Don't forget to sew the loops in the seam of the facing to hang the skirt.



Не забуваємо пришити петлі в шов притачування обшивки, щоб потім вішати спідницю.

Before sewing the inner parts of the pleats to the skirt hem them.


Перед тим як пришивати внутрішні частини складок до спідниці треба їх підшити.

Before to sew the inner parts the skirt should be hemmed as well. My piece of advice - to mark the hem line before unbasting the bottom of the pleats. In this way the hem's line will coincide around all the pleats' ribs.


Перед тим, як пришивати внутрішні частини складок, спідницю теж треба підшити. Невеличка порада: намітити лінію низу до того, як випарувати низ заметаних складок. Таким чином всі ребра складок в готовій спідниці збігатимуться по довжині.

The last thing to do before ironing and wearing the skirt - to sew the inner allowance for pleats together.


Останнє, що треба зробити перед прасуванням і одяганням спідниці: зшити внутрішні припуски на складки.

When picturing I paired the skirt with a blouse #102  from Burda 9/2010 that I made two years ago. I made a couple of modifications in it to  make it more practical.

На фото спідниця скомбінована з блузою №102 з Burda 9/2010, яку я пошила два роки тому. Блузу я трохи змінила, щоб зробити її більш практичною.

The first change: as my blouse was made of stretch satin that has different right and wrong sides,  instead of two collar ruffles I made one doubled. I cut it twice wider and then folded.


Перша зміна - комірцеві шлярки. Оскільки моя блуза з еластичного атласу, який має різні лицеву і виворітну сторони, замість двох шлярок, я зробила одну. Покроїла її вдвічі ширшою, потім просто склала вдвоє.

As soon as I imaged myself eating when having this blouse on, it became clear that all the menu will be on the cuff ruffles. So I made them twice narrower, just folded them twice along and got 6 cm width instead of 12. I would recommend to make them less gathered as well at least if made from such fabric like mine.




Щойно уявила, як я щось їм вдягнена у цю блузку, одразу зрозуміла, що все меню буде на шлярках манжет. Тому я їх вдвічі звузила, просто склала вздовж і так отримала 6 см ширини замість 12. Я б також порадила трохи менше збирання для них, принаймні, якщо шити з такої тканини, як моя.

And if you want to survive in cold weather red things are must-haves, at least for me:-) So I guess this my simple not  new red bolero made of yarn remnants matches the skirt greatly. The pattern for the bolero was taken here.
And these earrings complete the outfit very well:-)

І якщо хочеш вижити холодної зими, червоні речі - це просто must-haves, принаймні для мене:-) Тому, здається, це моє теж не нове просте червоне болеро, сплетене із залишків пряжі, чудово комбінується зі спідницею. Модель болеро було знайдено тут.
