I like all the seasons in their turn. I like them outdoors, and I like to feel them inside the house and not only because of the turned-on or turned-off heating:-) Besides, we celebrate Easter in a week, so it is pleasant to renew not only our wardrobe but the house's as well :-)
Nothing special was done. I only made new curtains for the kitchen and, from the fabric remnants, sewed a tablecloth... It seems it is called a table runner in English-speaking countries, but here we call such a small tablecloth a napkin.
It is a quick project that needs no drafts, and only initial sewing skills are necessary, so any beginner is able to make it.
... Hmm... after loading the photos, it became clear that the story of the making took much more time than the sewing actually:-)...
Весняне вбрання для кухні :-)
Я люблю всі пори року в їхній час. Мені подобається відчувати їх на вулиці і відчувати їх вдома і не лише через увімкнене чи вимкнене опалення:-) До того ж за тиждень ми святкуємо Великдень, тож приємно оновити не лише власний гардероб, але і вбрання для кухні :-)
Нічого особливого я не зробила, лише пошила нові штори і, з залишків тієї ж тканини, велику серветку на стіл.
Цей проєкт не потребує жодних викрійок, а лише елементарних навичок пошиття, тож будь-який початківець здатний це зробити.
.... Гммм... по закінченні завантажування світлин стало очевидним, що розповідь про роботу займе набагато більше часу ніж саме пошиття:-)...
So let's start with the curtain. Not every curtain fabric requires it, but this time the selvedge had to be folded and stitched along at least one side.
Почнемо зі штори. Не кожна шторна тканина цього потребує, але цього разу крайка тканини мала бути підшита принаймні вздовж однієї сторони.
Now the curtain is ready to sew the curtain loop tape. It is made exactly as it was made here. The reason to be attentive with the fabric this time is the direction of the print pattern.
Тепер можна пришивати тасьму на штору. Це робиться точнісінько як тут. Але цього разу треба бути уважним до напрямку узору тканини.
Process the hem. Fold the edge of the fabric twice. At first, for one cm, then for as much as you added for the hem allowance, in my case, six cm. After washing, the curtain can become shorter, so let it be a little extra fabric to remake the hem ... just in case.
Обробляємо низ. Двічі підгинаємо тканину, спочатку на один см, потім настільки, скільки дали припуск на підгинку низу. В моєму випадку - на шість см. Після прання тканина може дати усадку, тож нехай буде трохи запасу для переробки... про всяк випадок.
The table runner was made from the leftover fabric. It was about 55 cm x 180 cm. So at first it was cut along the centre to get two parts, then these parts were joined together to get the piece about 90 cm x 110 cm. As it is a kitchen thing, it is supposed to be washed often, so the parts were joined with a seam that is called "locked" here. Hope it is clear from the photos how to make it.
Серветку пошито з залишку тканини, це було приблизно 55 cm x 180 cm. Тож спочатку я її розрізала по центру на дві частини, потім ті частини зшила і отримала шматок десь 90 cm x 110 cm. Оскільки серветка для кухні і буде пратися доволі часто, то частини було зшито швом "в замок". Сподіваюсь, по фото зрозуміло,як це робиться.
Sewing the lace is the most troublesome part. At first, make the square of the piece. All the selvedges must be cut out to avoid further gathering of the fabric when sewing the lace.
Пришивання мережива - найбільш клопітка частина. Спочатку вирізаємо квадрат. Всі крайки мають бути відрізані для запобігання стягуванню тканини під час пришивання мережива.
It is easier to process the edges of the table runner and then to stitch the lace. But I prefer doing that at the same time.
Put the wrong side of the lace to the wrong side of the fabric. Leave the narrow edge allowance of the lace. Stitch it to the fabric.
Легше це зробити, якщо спочатку обробити краї серветки, потім настрочити мереживо. Але я визнаю за краще робити водночас.
Складаємо зворотні сторони мережива і тканини. Залишаємо вузький запас по краю мережива. Настрочуємо його на тканину.
AT THE SAME TIME!/ ВОДНОЧАС!
To make the neat corners, the extra lace must be left. It is hard to count how much at once. It depends on the width of the lace (the wider the lace, the more extra length is left). So when the stitching is at about 2 cm around the corner, stop it and try to fold the lace as an envelope. In this way, you'll see how much extra lace you need. So leave it, turn your runner and go on stitching on the other side. And do the same three more times.
Щоб зробити охайні куточки, треба залишати запас мережива. Розрахувати наперед, скільки важко. Це залежить від ширини мережива. Чим ширше мереживо, тим більший запас треба залишити. Тому коли строчка десь біля 2 см до кута, зупиняємося і намагаємося скласти мереживо конвертом. Таким чином, ми побачимо, скільки додаткової довжини мережива потрібно. Залишаємо її, повертаємо серветку і продовжуємо строчку по наступній стороні. І так робимо ще три рази.
After that, the piece must be ironed on the wrong side. Then stitch the lace on the right side. It can be made with straight stitching, but I prefer to use zigzag here. Start by sewing the corners of the lace edges. After the lace is sewn, stitch the lace's corners with the zigzag stitch. I don't cut the corners of the lace.
Після цього серветку треба припрасувати з зворотної сторони. Потім настрочуємо мереживо по лицевій стороні. Можна прямим стібком, але я надаю перевагу зигзагу. Починаємо із зшивання кута з кінців мережива. Коли мереживо нашите, настрочуємо куточки з мережива швом зигзаг. Припуски у куточках я не обрізаю.
