At last, I'm ready to share my new outcome. Five years haven't passed yet, but my new checked jacket, which forms a suit with the trousers from the previous post, is already ready :-) On the one hand, it was not too hard to make it, mostly because it has no collar or complex design lines; on the other, I wonder why I spent so much time sewing it then:-)
Картатий жакет без коміра з вирізом мисом
Нарешті готова поділитися моїм новим готовим виробом. П'ять років такі не минуло, а картатий жакет, який утворює костюм з брюками з попереднього допису, вже готовий :-) З одного боку, шити його було не так і важко, переважно завдяки тому, що він не має коміру чи складних конструкторських ліній; з іншого цікаво, чому ж тоді я так довго його шила :-)
To make the jacket, I chose pattern #110 from Burda 2/2024 (I made a mistake signing the photo). I thought it would be, firstly, a good combination with not-too-wide-hips trousers, and, secondly, as the jacket is quite loose, it would be easier to check the fabric pattern to cut and sew it properly. I also like the absence of the collar as I like to complete my outfits with different scarves, shawls or necklaces, and, besides, I wanted my blouses to be seen, or shown, well.
Для пошиття жакету я обрала модель 110 з Burda 2/2024 (на фото помилилася). Я подумала, що він, по-перше, добре комбінуватиметься з не дуже широкими по стегнах штанами, і, по-друге, оскільки жакет вільного крою, буде легше підбирати клітинки, щоб правильно його покроїти і пошити. Також мені сподобалася відсутність коміру, оскільки я люблю доповнювати одяг різними шарфиками, шаликами та намистами, крім того, хотілося якнайкраще демонструвати блузки.
The most complicated processing in this jacket is making the flap pocket. I guess it's easy to find a corresponding tutorial on the Internet. But anyway, I added some photos here of how I sew it. One of my fails was that I didn't control the length of the pockets' cuts and the flops, thus had to make flops twice, as the first pair of them was too short, or the cuts were too long, but to correct the latter was almost impossible.
Найскладніший процес в цьому жакеті - пошиття кишені в рамку з клапаном. Думаю, в інтернеті легко знайти майстер-клас з їхньої обробки. Проте, я тут додала фото як я їх шила. Однією з моїх невдач під час пошиття стало те, що я не перевірила довжину розрізів кишень і клапанів. Тож довелося робити клапани двічі, оскільки перша пара виявилася закороткою (або ж розрізи задовгими, але останнє виправити майже неможливо).
Another confusing step is the processing of the sleeves' slits. I wanted to make it with the sewing machine, but as I make it not just rarely, it took time. I shot some videos of my steps, so maybe add them compiled in one later.
Ще один заморочливий етап — обробка розрізів на рукавах. Хотіла зробити це на швейній машинці, але оскільки роблю це не просто рідко, на це пішов час. Я знімала коротенькі відео під час роботи, тож, можливо, пізніше додам їх зібраними в одне.
It will be a short post as the project was quick as well; on the contrary, the plan of sewing this pair of trousers as a part of a check suit has been brewing for quite a long time. The fabric was purchased about 4-5 years ago, and I looked through tons of patterns to choose, or at least to understand, what I want and how I see check trousers on me. A couple of years ago, I even bought shoes purposely to match this imaginary check suit, hoping to be pushed by inspiration from their purchasing, alas, the right time suddenly came only this week. I wish I could make the jacket to pair these trousers in less than 5 years :-)
Брюки з клітинки гленчик
Це буде короткий допис, оскільки і проєкт так само був швидким, на відміну від плану пошити ці картаті штани як частину костюму, який зрів доволі довго. Тканину купила років 4-5 тому і переглянула купу моделей, щоб обрати, або принаймні зрозуміти, що я хочу і як я себе бачу в таких штанях. Пару років тому я навіть купила черевики спеціально до цього уявного костюму в надії, що натхнення від їхнього придбання трохи прискорить процес, але ніт, гожий час раптом настав лише цього тижня. Сподіваюся, картатий жакет в пару до цих штанів я пошию скоріше ніж за 5 років :-)
The final pattern is #116 from Burda 03/2011. It is a flared model which I narrowed by 2 cm on both sides of the bottom as didn't want to have it too wide. I also refused from all the pockets at once because, in my opinion, sewing check fabric is troublesome enough to make it more complicated with processing pockets :-)

Кінцевий вибір зупинився на моделі 116 з Burda 03/2011, яку я завузила по низу на 2 см з кожного боку, бо занадто широкі штани не хотілося. Також одразу ж відмовилася від усіх кишень, тому що шити з тканини в клітинку вже само по собі марудно, а обробка кишень ще більше ускладнює процес процес (якби тканина була не картата, я б все одн їх не робила).

It turned out to be a quick and rather unexpected project, as when I bought this thin soft brown denim, the plan or time for sewing the trousers of it was more than just vague :-) Then, suddenly, last Friday, I decided I needed them a lot to go on a traditional trip to Kropyvnytskyi Dendropark to admire tulips in blossom. I talk about this trip regularly, as it often becomes a source of either inspiration or reason to make something new for my wardrobe. Although the tulips were not in their full bloom last weekend, it didn't influence our enjoyment of the excursion, and we had enough fun anyway. Besides, the pleasure from wearing the jeans doesn't depend on any blossoming at all :-)
Коричневі джинси
Цей проєкт виявився швидким і, можна сказати, достатньо несподіваним, оскільки коли я купила цей тонкий м'який коричневий денім, план чи час пошиття штанів з нього був більш ніж розпливчастим:-) Потім раптом минулої п'ятниці я вирішила, що вони мені потрібні для традиційної поїздки до Кропивницького дендропарку, щоб помилуватися цвітінням тюльпанів. Про цю подорож я регулярно розповідаю, тому що вона часто стає або нагодою, або натхненням пошити щось новеньке для мого гардеробу. Хоча тюльпани не були у всій своїй красі минулих вихідних, це жодним чином не вплинуло на наше задоволення від мандрівки, і розваги все одно нас не оминули. До того ж, втіха від носіння нових джинсів не залежить від жодного цвітіння взагалі :-)
To make jeans, I chose pattern #412 from Burda Plus 2024. It is a Ukrainian edition so I don't know if it is the same magazine abroad. I liked its design and shape, which made it really comfortable. I only made the trousers a bit shorter; all the rest was made according to the instructions.
Для пошиття джинсів я обрала модель 412 з Burda Plus 2024. Це українське видання, тож не знаю, чи відповідає воно закордонному. Мені сподобалися їхня форма і дизайн, які роблять їх справді зручними. Я лише трохи вкоротила штани; все решта зроблено за інструкціями.
