Shift Dress, or Holidays Start

It is the case when I didn't think much about the introduction article while sewing. Instead I thought a lot about enjoyment of being on holidays and tried to imagine how I would spend my days using a chance to go somewhere. I didn't take into the consideration any destinations... it actually doesn't the matter, but what really does is the mood, calmness and new impressions.
So let it be the first day of my distant vacation... maybe not very distant but far from home :-) Probably on that day I would feel a little tired after long road and would avoid dynamic fun, crowds of people and noisy spots... I'd rather walk around the streets of a new place to find out at what kind of locality I had got and where I can have some not expensive meal :-) And, of course, I'll wear something loose and light for that first meeting with my temporal habitation.

Сукня вільного крою, або Початок відпустки

Це той випадок, коли я не багато замислювалася над вступною статтею поки шила. Натомість, багато думала про задоволення від того що я вже у відпустці і намагалася уявити, як я б проводила свої дні використовуючи шанс кудись поїхати. Місця призначення не бралися до уваги...  взагалі, вони і значення не мають, а от що насправді має значення, так це настрій, спокій і нові враження...
Отже, нехай це буде перший день моєї відпустки у далеких краях... ну, може і не таких вже далеких, але далі від дому :-) Ймовірно в цей день я б почувалася трохи втомленою від довгої дороги і уникала б динамічних розваг, натовпу та гомінких місць...  Я б скоріше пішла поблукати вулицями нової місцини, щоб зрозуміти що воно за таке і пошукала б де можна недорого поїсти:-) І, звісно, я б вдягнула щось вільне і легке на це перше побачення з моїм тимчасовим притулком...

This dress #115 from Burda 4/2016 is among the best variants of clothes for hot days wherever they capture you: either in the streets of a home city or at some distant lands :-)
It is a quick and simple sewing so the main effect depends on the choice of the fabric. My dress is sewed of thin cotton, very soft and silky by touch. I had few minutes doubts as for the arrangement of the fabric pattern as four full repeats of the zigzag stripes made the dress too long and the absence of this repeat on the bottom would make a square look. I found the compromise. I lengthened the dress for one big stripe of the zigzag and made slits in the side seams.
I also decreased the neck hole on the back for about 3-4 cm.
It looks like such kind of silhouettes will become my basic from now as I gained weight but in summer they are very comfortable indeed.

Ця   сукня 115 з Burda 4/2016 серед найкращих варіантів одягу для спекотних днів де б вони тебе не захопили: чи то на вулицях рідного міста чи то в далеких землях :-)
Це просте і швидке пошиття, тому головний ефект залежить від вибору тканини. Мою сукню пошито з тонкої бавовни, дуже м'якої і шовковистої на дотик. Мала декілька хвилин сумнівів щодо розташування смужок візерунку, оскільки чотири повних повтори зробили б сукню занадто довгою, а відсутність такого повтору по низу, створила б квадратний вигляд. Компроміс було знайдено: подовжила сукню на одну велику смугу зигзагу і зробила розрізи у бокових швах.
Також я зменшила глибину вирізу спинки на 3-4 см.
Схоже такі силуети стануть моїми основними оскільки я набрала вагу, але влітку вони справді дуже зручні.

To process the neck hole I cut and sewed the facings.


Для обробки горловини я покроїла та пришила обшивку.

The arm holes are processed with the facings as well. I'd rather say the single piece sleeves.



Так само обшивками оброблено і краї пройм... я б сказала суцільнокроєних рукавів.

To have a neat hem, I made corners on the corners. I shot the video for sewing this detail to have it right here but failed. I am sure there are a lot of such videos in the Internet.
After top stitching the slits and the hem I made a short brace right on the top of the slit to prevent the side seam from ripping up while wearing the dress.


Щоб поділ вийшов охайним на кутках зробила кутки. Знімала відео обробки цієї деталі, щоб воно було тут на місті, але щось нічого не вийшло. Впевнена, в Інтернеті таких відео достатньо.
Після відстрочування подолу і розрізів, я зробила коротеньку закріпку якраз на кінці бокового шву, щоб попередити його від розривів під час носіння сукні.

Lattice Earrings

One more earrings to make a set with one of the previous projects... I guess it is the right time to start making the dresses all this jewelry meant to match :-)

The earrings are different in style but made with the same materials as my Lettuce Bracelet, and this time the piece does remind a lattice :-) 

Сережки "Решітка"

Ще одні сережки для завершення набору, цього разу з одним із браслетів, з попередніх проектів... Думаю, саме час зайнятися сукнями, для яких всі ці прикраси призначені :-) Сережки відрізняються стилем, але зроблені з тих самих матеріалів, що і мій браслет "Салатик" і цього разу виріб і справді нагадує решітку :-)

The pattern by Marcia Decoster from Beadwork magazine April/May 2016. I already made few things with this technique so it was not very hard work but required attention.

I followed the charts with only difference - for the embellishment used rondelles 2x3 mm.

Модель від Marcia Decoster з журналу "Beadwork", квітень/травень 2016. Я вже зробила декілька речей в цій техніці тож робота була не дуже важка, але потребувала уваги.

Все робила за схемами з єдиним виключенням - для декору використала ронделі 2х3 мм.

Such a bright and, at the same time, airy accessory looks very cheerful and vivid like a nice spring or summer day itself :-)

Такий яскравий, але при цьому легкий, аксесуар виглядає дуже свіжим і безжурним як і сам гарний весняний чи літній день :-)  

Sugared Buds Earrings :-)

I've already beaded few items that need earrings to complete the sets... But either I had no inspiration or time or wanted to make something unique, or just don't need them right now, I haven't made any pair up to now... The reasons of the postponing can be a lot :-)

However, after making the lariat I yet cut the dress for it to complete the outfit. So, while the materials are on my beading board, I spent today creating these earrings. I thought if the liane could have buds, they would probably look like that.

Сережки "Зацукровані бруньки" 

Вже сплела декілька речей, які потребують сережок. щоб утворити набори... Але чи то не було у мене натхнення чи часу чи воліла зробити щось унікальне, або просто не було в них потреби, до сьогодні так і не зробила жодної пари... Причин відкладати справи може бути багато :-)

Проте, після виготовлення ларіату я все ж таки покроїла сукню яку він призначений доповнювати. Тож, поки всі матеріали у мене на дошці, весь день провела створюючи ці сережки. Я подумала, що якби ліана мала бруньки, вони б виглядали приблизно ось так.

For the earrings I used 11.0 cut beads and 10.0 seed beads of two colours both, 15.0, a pearl and crystal drops. I am not sure it is worth describing all the way of the beading because there is nothing unusual here and I just combined few known available techniques.

Для сережок використала рубку 11.0 і бісер 10.0 двох кольорів кожний, бісер 15.0, перлину, кристальні краплі. Не впевнена, що варто описувати весь процес плетіння, тому що нічого незвичного тут немає, я просто скомбінувала декілька відомих і доступних технік.

Buds beaded with herringbone stitch. I put a pearl inside to get some weight for the earring as I like to feel it in the ear. But the construction is stiff enough without it as well. 

Бруньки сплетені у техніці "ндебеле". В середину вставила перлину, щоб сережка отримала вагу, бо мені подобається відчувати сережку у вусі. Але конструкція доволі жорстка і без неї.

The stamens are a simple fringe. It takes time to choose the right length and density of it. But it is better to experiment before joining all the details than to remake all the earring after it is ready.

Тичинки - прості "корали". Щоб визначитися з правильною довжиною і щільністю декору, варто витрати час. Але краще поекспериментувати до того як з'єднувати всі деталі ніж потім переробляти готовий виріб. 

Summer here is hot and mostly people are inclined to take off as much clothes as possible than to put it on. It means I wear necklaces very rarely in summer. But as the set is pretty delicate, I hope it will become an exception.

Літо у нас спекотне і люди переважно намагаються зняти з себе побільше одягу, а не вдягти. Це означає, що я дуже рідко одягаю намиста влітку. Але, оскільки набір вийшов негроміздким, сподіваюсь, він стане виключенням.

Sugared Liane Lariat :-)

If I made this lariat in winter, the liana surely would be called "frozen" but as it is 30 degrees above zero outside, it mostly reminds some candy made in a Caramel House so got the name "sugared" :-)

Making lariats are good idea when you want to experiment with different spirals and, especially, their embellishments. This one I made by the sample but couldn't help improvising enough. The initial idea and the pattern belongs to Kelly Wiese.

Ларіат "Зацукрована ліана" :-)

Якби зробила цей ларіат взимку, то ліана вже напевно називалася б " замерзлою", а на вулиці  +30 за Цельсієм, то вона більше нагадує якусь цукерку виготовлену у Майстерні Карамелі :-)

Плетіння ларіатів гарний ідея, якщо хочеться поекспериментувати з різними видами джгутів і, особливо, з їхнім декором. Цей я зробила за зразком, але не могла не імпровізувати. Початкова ідея і модель належать Kelly Wiese.

First modification concerned the leaves. I made less rows because I used cut beads and 10.0 seed beads instead of the required so, if following the pattern, the leaves would be very big and awkward.




Перша зміна стосувалася листя. Зробила менше рядочків, оскільки використовувала рубку і бісер 10.0 тому, тому, якщо слідувати інструкції, листя вийшло б дуже великим і недолугим.

Next change was for stamens. Because of the same reason I changed fringe for the corals :-) In this way the stamens look airy and light even made with cut beads.
The length of the desirable connection was defined with a simple arranging of leaves.



Наступна зміна стосувалася тичинок. З тієї ж самої причини замість "китиць" я зробила "корали" :-) Так, навіть зроблені з рубки, тичинки виглядають легкими і граціозними.
Бажану довжину з'єднання визначила простим впорядкуванням листя.

The slide is a real jewel in the pattern but I decided to make it as plain as possible. So used only 10.0 seed beads.



Кільце - справжня прикраса в моделі, але я вирішила зробити як можна непомітнішим, тому сплела з бісеру № 10.0.

And here it is. The shining lariat making think about candies and pleasant days, for example, in Chernivtsi, where the photo of the Caramel House was taken :-)

Ось і він. Блискучий ларіант, що навіює думки про цукерки та приємні дні, наприклад у Чернівцях, де було зроблене фото Майстерні карамелі :-)

Lettuce Bracelet :-)

The garden theme is going on in this post as the beautiful roses are not the only plants growing in front of my parents' house. There are also some fruit and vegetables and they look pretty decorative, too:-)

This cute bracelet from Carol Wilcox Wells in Beadwork June/July 2011 attracted my attention at once. However, with its salad green colours and curvy net it spelled not the image of Lattice but Lettuce which enlivens our meals with long awaited natural vitamins and fresh taste.

But, of course, your associations can be different :-)

Браслет "Салатик"

Тема садочка продовжується в цьому дописі оскільки прекрасні троянди не єдині рослини на ділянці у моїх батьків. Ще є трохи овочів і фруктів і деякі з них виглядають доволі декоративно :-)

Цей милий браслет від Carol Wilcox Wells  в журналі "Beadwork" June/July 2011 одразу привернув мою увагу. Проте, своєю кольоровою гамою і вигнутою сіткою навіяв думки не про садову решітку, а про зелений салат з городу, який так пожвавлює нашу їжу довго очікуваними натуральними вітамінами та свіжим смаком.

Але, безумовно,  у тебе можуть бути інші асоціації :-)

The first part, lattice itself, was easy and quick for me but the second, net chain, was confusing.. maybe because, the TV was on while I was beading :-) When making the latter I used mostly word descriptions than charts although it is not typical for me, I cannot remember any other occasion when it was. Charts are all for me in any kind of needle work.

The pattern requires much attention indeed. Besides, I must admit the tension is very important here. 

Перша частина браслету, решітка, далася мені легко і швидко, а друга, ланцюжок-сітка, забаламутила всю голову... можливо тому, що, поки я плела, був увімкнений телевізор :-)

Поки нанизувала сітку користувалася переважно описом замість схеми хоча для мене це зовсім не схоже, не можу згадати якійсь інший випадок, коли так відбувалося. Схеми для мене - це все, в будь якому виді рукотворів.

Модель потребує великої уваги. Крім того, маю визнати, дуже важливе натягнення нитки.

As always the sewing took a lot of time. To sew it neatly I even pin the parts to have less or more equal rounds of the chain. The loop of the clasp is made the designer's but the bar was made usual.

Як завжди зшивання зайняло багато часу. Щоб зшити охайно, довелося навіть сколоти частини булавками, щоб отримати більш менш рівномірні кола з ланцюжку. Петлю я застібки я зробила як у дизайнерки, а поперечку зробила звичайну.

The bracelet is as beautiful as I expeceted it to be so I am very glad with the result.

Браслет такий гарний, як я і очікувала тож дуже задоволена результатом.

Fitted Blouse, or Breakfast in the Garden

It is the second project (after this dress) inspired by my parents' garden beauty and, if to be exact, the very time of first roses' blossoming, they are usually three during the season. This time also is perfect to start having meals outdoors especially in the morning at weekend when nobody is in hurry, the air is fresh and full of gentle warmth and while sitting at the table you enjoy the view of the splendid blossoming. Such moments are the best to remind myself one of my granddad's proverbs "As long as one is at the table as long he is in Paradise"...
But not everything and always is so quick as I like to tell... or try to tell :-) I cut the blouse in May after my trip to Actovy Canyon because suddenly remembered that shirts used to be my favourite clothes and I surely didn't mind having a couple more of them. But while I was finding the time to sew the blouse, the roses almost faded away so you can enjoy the view of the blossoming separately from my project :-)
The second source of inspiration was the projects of my Burda's friends, who already made these blouses and thanking to that I decided the model is worth making indeed.

Прилягаюча блузка, або Сніданок у садочку

Після цієї сукні це мій другий проект натхненний красою садочка моїх батьків і, якщо вже точно казати, винятковим часом першого цвітіння троянд, яких буває зазвичай три за сезон. Цей час також найкращий для перших сніданків на подвір'ї, особливо ранком вихідного дня, коли ніхто нікуди не поспішає , повітря свіже і наповнене лагідним теплом і, поки сидиш за столом, насолоджуєшся пишним цвітінням.  В такі моменти завжди дуже доречно згадується одна з улюблених приказок мого дідуся " Скільки, стільки і в раю"...
Але не все і не завжди так швидко відбувається як я люблю розповідати... чи то намагаюся розповідати :-) Я покроїла блузку у травні після моєї подорожі до Актового Каньйону, коли я раптом згадала, що сорочки колись були моїм улюбленим одягом і я б не проти мати ще двійко-трійко. Але поки я шукала час на пошиття, майже всі троянди вже відцвіли, тож насолодитися видом на садочок можна окремо від мого проекту :-)
Другим джерелом натхнення були проекти моїх подруг з сайту Burda, які вже таких блузок нашили і завдяки чому я і вирішила, що таку модель і справді варто зробити.

The blouse #117 from Burda 9/2013. It rarely happens when I don't save fabric for the sewing but this time I used all the length suggested in the magazine because my fabric was 135 cm wide. It is not worth mentioning that I noticed it only when cutting :-)
It is stripy stretch cotton. I didn't match the stripes because they are very thin and I didn't need to break the construction.


Блузка 117 з Burda 9/2013. Це рідко трапляється, щоб я не зекономила тканину для пошиття, але цього разу всю довжину, запропоновану в журналі, було використано, тому що моя тканина 135 см завширшки. Думаю, не варто згадувати, що помітила я це лише коли кроїла :-)
Це смугаста еластична бавовна. Смужки я не підбирала, тому що вони дуже тоненькі і не треба було порушувати конструкцію.

Generally, the sewing was not very simple, I made mistakes and remade some details few times. So cannot give advises. Some tips... maybe.
To bend the inner side of the front facing it is worth to make shorts cuts along the facing. In this way the seam will be even without any gathering.


Пошиття не було надто простим, я робила помилки і деякі деталі переробляла по декілька разів. Тож поради давати не можу. Хіба що якісь прийомчики... можливо.
Щоб підгорнути внутрішній край обшивки переду, варто зробити короткі надрізи вздовж краю. Таким чином, шов буде рівним без призбирувань. 

I cut detail #11 as a single one to provide the fitting made the dart from the waist.




Деталь №11 я покроїла без шва, а для прилягання від талії зробила витачку. 

The bands are sewed to the sides so if they suddenly untie, like in my photo, the blouse stays where it is.




Пояси втачуються в бокові шви, тож якщо вони раптом розв'яжуться, як на моєму фото, блузка залишиться там де і була.

The collar is sewed as always, at first to the wrong side and then to the right side of the blouse. Both seams by the machine



Комір пришивається як завжди, спочатку до зворотньої сторони блузки, потім до лицевої. Обидва шви на машинці.

I was surprised with too long sleeve's cup. I had to gather it by the sewing machine stitching, I do this very rarely. Maybe I was sleepy when traced the pattern and was wrong with the size.
Generally the gathering along the sleeve's cups wouldn't the blouse but I didn't want it. After steaming it got better look.


Мене здивував занадто довгий окат рукава. Довелося призібрати його на машинці, що я роблю дуже рідко. Можливо я була сонна, коли малювала викрійку і помилилася з розміром.
Взагалі, призбирування по окату рукава не зіпсувало б блузки, але мені такого не хотілося. Після відпарювання, вигляд покращився.

The blouse is good for travelling. For example, I was wearing it when going to Buky Park. 

Блузка добре підходить для подорожей. Наприклад, я її одягала під час поїздки до парку "Буки".
