Bee Brooch

 

Different insects are quite popular motifs for brooches embroidering. The Internet is full of ideas and samples for their making. But, telling the true, the level of decorativeness of, for example, flies never occurs to me when I see one of them trying to land on the piece of my food. I also cannot remember the occasion when I wanted to put some spider on my clothes as an ornament. (Halloween is an excusable exception and not a routine habit for doing that :-)) As for me, only butterflies. dragon-flies and, of course, bees are quite acceptable creatures to be represented as prototypes for jewelry making. 

Брошка "Бджілка" 

Різні комахи - доволі популярний мотив для вишивання брошок. В Інтернеті повно ідей та зразків для цього. Але, сказати по правді, рівень декоративності, наприклад, мух ніколи не спадає мені на думку, коли якась з них збирається всістися на мою їжу. Також не пригадую, щоб мені хотілося причепити якогось павука на мій одяг у якості прикраси. (Геловін - це дозволене виключення, а не щоденна звичка таке робити:-)) Як на мене, лише метелики, бабки і, звісно, бджілки - створіння прийнятні у якості прототипів для виготовлення прикрас. 

My brooches collection got a new piece. It is a bee. This kit is more expensive than the previous maybe because of sewing crystals which are of good quality as well as the rest of materials except the pearls which are traditionally a little scratched. It is one of the brooches I like the best. In real life it looks even better than on the kit's box photo. 

Моя колекція брошок поповнилася ще одним екземпляром. Це бджілка. Набір дорожчий за попередні, можливо через пришивні стрази, які, як і решта матеріалів, за виключенням традиційно подряпаних перлин, тут гарної якості. Це одна з брошок які мені найбільше подобаються. В реальності вона виглядає краще ніж на фото коробки від набору.

Vintage Wiggle Dress, or In the Same River

Up to now I have always said that never sew for myself the same model more than once. It is not because of impossibility  to step twice in the same river but because of countless number and diversity of patterns I would like to try sewing. Why this dress is so special is very easy to answer :-) Firstly, it is red. A very nice hue of red, the colour of a red rose. On some unclear reason I am glad it still suits me as well as the wiggle silhouette of this outfit. secondly, I used to sew this model several years ago, later gained some weight, couldn't wear that dress any more but wasn't fed with its wearing, if it is possible to say so. In other words, I like to realize there is such a dress in my wardrobe :-) 

To the dress I matched Red Drop Earrings and Chaton Band Choker.

Вінтажна звужена до низу сукня, або В тій самій річці  

До цього часу я завжди повторювала, що ніколи не шию собі одну і ту саму модель більше одного разу. Це не через неможливість зайти до тієї самої річки двічі (тобто  зідрати лико з однієї липи двічі), а через незчисленну кількість і розмаіття моделей, які мені хотілося б спробувати відтворити. Чому ця сукня така особлива - відповісти легко:-) По-перше, вона червона. Дуже гарного червоного відтінку, кольору червоної троянди. З якоїсь невиразної причини я  радію з того, що цей колір мені все ще личить, так само як і силует цієї звуженої до низу моделі. По-друге, декілька років тому я вже такий наряд шила, потім набрала вагу тож не могла його більше одягати, але вочевидь не наносилася, якщо можна так сказати. Іншими словами, мені приємно знати, що у мене в гардеробі є таке вбрання:-) 

До сукні я підібрала сережки "Червона крапля" і намисто "Стрічка шатонів". 

So the pattern #138 from Burda 11/2012. First time I made size 40, the fabric was thicker with delicate shining, I'd say the first dress was cozier. This time - size 42, the fabric is thinner but stiffer and the colour is better. Both times I lengthened the sleeves for 10 cm.

Отже, модель 138 з Burda 11/2012. Перший раз шила розмір 42, тканина була товща з делікатним блиском, я б сказала, перша сукня була затишнішою. Цього разу - розмір 42, тканина тонша, але жорсткіша і колір мені більше подобається.

By the way, pattern #142 from Burda 8/2013 is the same but for +sizes. Information is just in case :-) 

До речі, модель 142 з Burda 8/2013 така сама, тільки для більших розмірів. Інформація так, про всяк випадок:-) 

I don't remember the sewing details of the first dress. Probably right because there was no troubles :-) But this time I had some problem with the back fitting. It was solved as you see but without help when trying on I couldn't manage. 

Не пам'ятаю чи щось було не так з пошиттям першої сукні, саме тому мабуть і не пам'ятаю, що не було:-) А цього разу  посадка спинки додала клопоту. Проблему, як бачите, було вирішено, але без допомоги на примірці я б не впоралася. 

While sewing I followed the instruction. The darts were copied with copying stitches. I don't see much sense in pressing the pleats. Anyway the fabric will drape in own way. For bigger sizes pleats are suggested without pressing and the outcome is the same.

Пошиття - за інструкцією. Лінії складок перенесені копіювальними стібками. Не бачу великого сенсу у запрасуванні складок. Тканина ляже як схоче в будь якому випадку. Для більших розмірів складки не передбачають запрасування, а вигляд такий самий. 

Despite the dress the wool is required in the instruction both of my dresses were made of knits with synthetics percentage. Otherwise the pleats won't keep the shape. I have to add that every time before washing the first dress I had to sew the pleats to prevent them from disappearing.(Did I really like that dress?:-)) 

Хоча в журналі рекомендується для пошиття вовна, обидві мої сукні пошиті з трикотажу з відсотком синтетики. Інакше складки не триматимуть форму. Маю додати, що кожного разу перед пранням першої сукні я ті складки зашивала, щоб після прання вони не зникли. (Мені та сукня справді подобалася?:-)) 

To make the centre seam thinner, I cut the angles of pleats allowance.

Щоб середній шов був тоншим, куточки припусків на складки я зрізала.

The processing of the neck hole is very neat here. I like the way it goes very much. 

Тут дуже охайна обробка горловини. Мені дуже подобається такий спосіб. 

Vermeer Earrings

My plan was to share a new dress this weekend but the plan turned to be quite illusory, which was predictable enough from the very beginning because the winter break is over:-) But as to do something is always better than to  do nothing, I share these sweet delicate earrings named by their author Vermeer earrings. I absolutely like the idea and the source of inspiration so let my pair have the same name. 

Сережки "Вермеер" 

Планувала поділитися новою сукнею на цих вихідних, але план виявився цілком примарним, що можна було від початку передбачити, адже зимові канікули скінчилися:-) Але оскільки зробити щось завжди краще ніж нічого не зробити, ділюся цими милими делікатними сережками, які автор назвав сережками "Вермеер". Я в захваті від ідеї та джерела натхнення, тож нехай моя пара збереже цю назву. 

The earrings were made by this tutorial from PotomacBeads. The only change is my materials: I used 4 and 7 mm Czech pearls and my navette has a different bazel's back. 

Сережки зроблені за цим майстер класом від PotomacBeads. Єдина відмінність - це мої матеріали: використала чеськи перли 4 і 7 мм і цап моєї наветти має іншу основу. 

Low Back Godet Dress, or If I Need an Evening Gown

 

Of course, I need an evening gown, any girl needs and even any man does :-) One of the best acquired by me things from the girl talks with my mother is that once a year a woman should get or make or buy a new nice dress. As an example she referred to my granny, her mum, who had said her daughter the same and not depending on the times always had made such a dress  by Easter. I am quite lucky not to keep myself from sewing nice dresses whenever I can or want, however, I surely have to think a little when it goes about evening gowns. Despite my wardrobe is quite big it is practical. I mean almost all of my clothes is suitable for different occasions from work to theatre going. Evening gowns are special and not practical at all, made only for enjoyment. I don't sew it often and always count how many times I wore it to justify its making. New Year and Christmas celebrations are excellent reasons to wear such outfits. I had the tradition indeed! But few years ago I, at first, refused to wear smart shoes while celebrating, then to wear make up and last year I refused from wearing a special dress. Passed year didn't pampered us a lot so this year I decided to take control at least over my traditions, made some efforts and here I am at New Year's night :-) 

Сукня годе з вирізом на спинці, або Чи потрібне вечірнє вбрання 

Звісно мені потрібне вечірнє вбрання, будь якій дівчині потрібне і навіть будь якому чоловікові:-) Однією з найкраще засвоєних мною речей з дівчачих розмов з мамою є те, що раз на рік кожна жінка має отримати, купити, зробити гарну сукню. При цьому мама завжди посилалася на бабусю, свою маму, яка казала своїй дочці те саме, і таку сукню, незалежно від часів, завжди шила на Великдень. Мені пощастило з відсутністю потреби обмежувати себе в пошитті гарних суконь коли заманеться, проте, коли мова йде про вечірнє вбрання доводиться трохи подумати. Хоча гардероб у мене обширний, він практичний. Маю на увазі, що майже весь мій одяг годиться для будь якої нагоди від роботи до відвідування театру. Вечірнє вбрання особливе і зовсім непрактичне, створене лише для задоволення. Я його не часто шию і завжди рахую скільки разів одягаю, щоб виправдати його створення. Святкування Різдва та Нового року - прекрасні нагоди, щоб одягнути такі наряди. І у мене така традиція була! Але декілька років тому я припинила на такі святкування спочатку взувати черевики на підборах, потім наносити макіяж, а минулого року навіть не одягнула особливої сукні. Минулий рік не так вже нас і балував, тож цього року я вирішила взяти під контроль хоча б свої традиції. Трохи зусиль і ось така я у новорічну ніч:-) 

My new evening gown is made by dress #103 from Burda 11/2009. I liked this garment from the first sight but always wanted to make it red, as it is in the magazine. Fortunately, I had in my stash a piece of lurex jersey, which turned to be very trendy now, so made a decision to use the pattern without further postponing. 

At the night I wore the dress with Mystery of Twilight  earrings but if to look through my jewelry box even here in the blog, there are plenty of other variants to complete the outfit.

Моє нове вечірнє вбрання пошите за моделлю 103 з Burda 11/2009. Цей наряд сподобався мені з першого погляду, але завжди хотілося його пошити червоним, як в журналі. на щастя, у мене в запасах знайшовся відріз трикотажу з люрексом, який зараз, як то кажуть " в тренді", тож вирішила використати викрійку без подальших зволікань. 

Святкової ночі до сукні я надягла сережки "Таємниця сутінків", але якщо заглянути в запаси моїх прикрас навіть тут у блозі, можна знайти багато інших варіантів для доповнення вбрання. 

The sewing was very quick. My first note concerns the hem of the dress. I couldn't measure the right length myself so cut as it was in the magazine and it turned to be too long and when I evened the hem, the dress lost about 8 cm of the width along the bottom. It is not very good as for such an outfit the wider the better. If I had a chance, I would widen the dress by the right line of hem. 

Пошиття було швидким. Моє перше зауваження стосується лінії низу. Сама я не змогла правильно виміряти необхідну довжину сукні, тому кроїла як було в журналі, але для мене це задовго. А коли я вирівняла низ, сукня втратила по низу приблизно 8 см ширини. Це не дуже добре, тому що для такого вбрання чим ширше, тим краще. Якби була можливість, я б розширила сукню уздовж правильної лінії низу. 

The next note concerns the collar which I neglected as I wanted to simplify the dress because of my fabric. Besides, I shortened the depth of the back neck hole for about 10 cm to feel comfortable when wearing a bra. I also refused from a zipper as the dress is jersey and lined the dress. The lining is sewed only along the facing.

 

Наступне зауваження стосується коміру від якого я відмовилася, оскільки хотіла спростити сукню через тип тканини. Крім того, скоротила глибину вирізу спинки десь на 10 см, щоб почуватися комфортно одягнувши бюстгальтер. Також обійшлося без  блискавки, тому що сукня трикотажна і сукню посадила на підкладку. Підкладка пришита до сукні лише вздовж обшивок. 

Sewing a new evening gown made me remember my previous ones. All these garments were made in the time of the featured magazines publishing but the photos were taken in 2011-2012 years. The dresses are still able to be put on :-) 

Пошиття нового вечірнього вбрання нагадало мені про попередні. Всі ці одежини були зроблені саме в час виходу вказаних журналів, а фото зроблені у 2011-2012 роках. Сукні все ще можу одягнути:-)

Boat Neck Plaid Dress

Once upon a time I already speculated about the  number of Burda magazines I have. Some seamstresses own probably much more than I do, but anyway I have more magazines than enough. As a rule, I can remember if I have the pattern or not when coming across the model on the resources where we, sewing girls, share our works. Some of my Burda magazines even have a story of their buying. For example, several issues were bought while I was travelling. There are years when I bought only a couple of them and there many when I didn't buy at all. But also there are stories about how, or why, I didn't buy some magazines. Let's take Burda 9/2012. It is a beautiful issue with many interesting patterns but at the time of its publishing I wasn't active in sewing and could live without new magazines or supposed to take any for rent in our local hobby store if really needed. Up to now I have already purchased two patterns from that issue and maybe will buy more:-)

Сукня в клітинку з вирізом човником

Колись я вже просторікувала про кількість своїх журналів Burda. Напевно деякі кравчині мають їх набагато більше ніж я, але і у мене їх набагато більше ніж достатньо. Як правило, можу згадати  чи є чи немає у мене викрійки моделі, якщо на якусь натрапляю на різних ресурсах де ми, дівчата які шиють, виставляємо свої роботи. Деякі з моїх журналів навіть мають історію придбання. Наприклад, декілька журналів додалися під час подорожей. Є роки, коли купувала лише одне чи два числа, а є коли не купувала взагалі. Але також є історії як, або чому, якійсь з журналів я не купила. Скажімо, випуск Burda 9/2012. Це гарний журнал з багатьма цікавими моделями, але в час його виходу я майже не шила і спокійно жила без нових журналів або, за потреби, думала, що зможу взяти будь який внайми в нашій місцевій хобі-крамниці. На сьогодні я вже придбала дві викрійки з того журналу і, можливо, купуватиму ще:-) 

The first of them is dress #109. PDF pattern BurdaStyle 7031A (also 6149A) is the same but it appeared only these days on our Ukrainian site, I saw it today, and my dress was ready a week ago. The jewelry was made made specially to match the dress: Snowflake Pendant, Snowflake Rope I, Snowflake Rope II, Snowflake Rope III, Icicle Earrings. For me accessories are a part of outfit but this time it was a must to lessen the effect of big plaid which visually adds some weight.

Перша з них - сукня 109. PDF викрійка BurdaStyle 7031А (також 6149A) така сама, але вона лише нещодавно з'явилася на нашому українському сайті, я побачила її сьогодні, а моя сукня була готова ще тиждень тому. Прикраси були зроблені спеціально до сукні: кулон "Сніжинка", намисто "Сніжинка" І, намисто "Сніжинка" ІІ, намисто "Сніжинка" ІІІ, сережки "Бурульки". Для мене аксесуари - це  частина вбрання, але цього разу це стало необхідністю, щоб зменшити ефект великої клітинки, яка візуально додає ваги. 

The fabric pushed me to choose the model for the sewing this time. Despite the plaid is really too big for my figure I bought the piece because liked the quality (100% wool), the texture and the price on sale. My plan was to avoid much fitting not to cut the fabric but to have a hint for the feminine silhouette. In my opinion the best design of the kind is the one with darts from the side seams to the centre of the bust. I used to modify alike design for a summer dress and I am sure the garment from the last Burda magazine will fit perfect as well. Maybe I'll make it one day too. 

Цього разу тканина визначала вибір моделі. Хоча клітинка справді занадто велика для моєї фігури, я купила відріз через якість (100% вовна), текстуру та ціну на розпродажі. Задум передбачав уникнення великого прилягання щоб не різати тканину, але і не залишати сукню без натяку на жіночий силует. На мою думку найкращим варіантом такої конструкції є викрійка з виточками від бокового шву до середини грудей. Я колись модифікувала подібний крій для літньої сукні і впевнена, що вбрання з останнього числа Burda матиме досконалу посадку. Можливо колись я його теж пошию. 

My 1.70 m of fabric would be enough for the magazine's variant. I lengthened the dress for about 7 cm and the sleeves for about 9 cm + hem allowance. So had to cut the sleeves on bias. I was absolutely happy with the matching plaids on the sleeves' caps and the arm hole. 

Моїх 1,70 м тканини було б достатньо для журнального варіанту сукні. Я свою подовжила десь на 7 см і подовжила рукав на 9 + припуски на підшивку низу. Тому мала кроїти рукави навскіс. Щастям стало те, що клітинка на рукаві і пройми збіглася. 

The plaid is troubling for sewing fabric but the quality simplified it. 

Клітинка клопітна для пошиття тканина, але її якість спростила процес. 

To press the dart the cardboard triangle was useful. 

Щоб розпрасувати виточку, корисним був трикутник з картону.

The sleeves are joined by the instruction. 

Рукави вшивала за інструкцією.

The dress was lined. The lining stitched only along the facing. It is joined to the dress under arm holes with short bars. 

Сукня на підкладці. Підкладка пришита лише уздовж обшивки. Під проймами з'єднана з сукнею короткими перемичками. 

The dress and the sleeves are hemmed with slip stitches. 

Низ сукні і рукавів підшиті потайними стібками. 

I am very happy with the outcome:-) 

P.S. I only don't know why the letters in the beginning of the post are so big...
