This time I share the post about sewing my new home wear top. If it goes further in this way, instead of sharing my summer dream wardrobe I'll boast with my nightshirts and gowns which, in fact, I have never sewn so far except the times of Handicraft lessons at school. The right thoughts to submit the situation with my last sewing preferences are ... hmm... "it's better sew whatever than not to sew" and "dream vacation can be spent in the mountain chalet as well as in the sea bungalow". The wide-leg trousers and the top compile a comfort ensemble the advantages of wearing which become absolutely obvious after the fifth piece of the cake :-)
Домашній топ з вирізом мисом
Цього разу ділюся дописом про пошиття нового домашнього топу. Якщо так триватиме, то надалі замість літнього гардеробу мрії буду хвалитися моїми нічними сорочками та домашніми халатами, які я досі ніколи не шила за виключенням часів уроків праці в школі. Щоб змиритися з ситуацією з моїми останніми кравецькими вподобаннями, треба налаштувати думки на правильний лад... хмм... "краще шити будь що ніж нічого" та "відпустку мрії можна провести в гірському шале так само як і в бунгало на морському узбережжі". Широкі штани та топ складають затишний комплект, переваги носіння якого стають абсолютно очевидними після п'ятого шматку пирога :-)
As I had quite much fabric left from sewing the trousers, for two tops or a twinset, I decided it is the very time to try some of Knipmode patterns. I collected seven their issues (5 of Ukrainian edition) but still haven't sewn any pattern which are for women of 172 cm height and I am 165. Besides, I have high hips and so a short back, 38 cm, so always need adjustments even for Burda's patterns that are for 168 cm height. I chose top #3 from Knipmode 1/2022 (last Ukrainian edition before the big war).
Оскільки у мене залишилося доволі багато тканини після пошиття штанів, на два топи або двійку, я вирішила, що саме час спробувати якусь з моделей з Knipmode. У мене зібралося 7 їхніх журналів, але досі ще нічого з них не шила, моделі розраховані на жінок 172 см, а я - 165 см, до того ж у мене коротка спинка - 38 см і мені потрібно підлаштовувати навіть викрійки з Burda, які розраховані на зріст 168 см. Обрала топ 3 з Knipmode 1/2022 (останнє українське число перед великою війною).
To make the top fit, the only thing I did was shortening the pattern for three cm between the armhole and waist lines (1). I also thought the sleeves would be too long and didn't add the hem allowance but was mistaken. The sleeves are just a little bit short.
Щоб топ на мене сів все що я зробила - вкоротила викрійку на три см між лінією пройми та талії (1). Також подумала, що рукави будуть задовгі, тож не додавала припуск на підгинку і помилилася: рукави трішечки закороткі.
The processing of the V-neck hole was quick and neat but, unfortunately, the centre seam on the band moved aside a little from the peak of that V (3). I didn't rip it out, just promised to be more attentive next time. To hem both the sleeves and the bodice I used special machine stich which I had never used before as didn't like it (4). Tastes changes. I did it properly only for bodice, the sleeves hem got stretched slightly.
Обробка горловин була швидка і охайна, але, на жаль, центральний шов моєї бейки трохи змістився від вершини того мису (3). Не стала його випорювати, лише пообіцяла собі бути уважнішою наступного разу і одразу забула. Низ рукавів та топу підшила спеціальним машинним трикотажним швом, яким в житті раніше не користувалася, бо він мені не подобався (4). Смаки змінюються. Як треба вийшло вже на самому топі, а низ рукавів трохи розтягнувся.
Finally, I am delighted with my work but not very happy with this fabric. On one hand, it is soft, pleasant to body and quite warm. On the other, it's too stretching. After a week of wearing the trousers, despite their enormous width, I have sagged knees (5) that had to be pressed to look decently. Every day ironing is not exactly what you expect from the home wear :-)
Зрештою я задоволена своєю роботою, але щодо тканини - не дуже. З одного боку, вона м'яка, приємна до тіла і доволі тепла, з іншого - занадто розтягується. За тиждень носіння штанів, незважаючи на їхню аномальну ширину, маю витягнуті коліна (5), які треба зутюжувати, щоб пристойно виглядало. Щоденне прасування - це точно не те, що ти очікуєш від домашнього одягу :-)
Despite today was a beautiful sunny day I was sad without any obvious reason. The day was busy enough, I worked almost the whole day and even helped my mom a little in the garden without any of her claim. But that melancholy didn't disappear, it seemed just hid deeper inside. Hoping to overcome this state of mind I decided to write a short post about my new home wear trousers which I made to alternate with the previous pair. This time I used pattern 5C from Burda Easy Winter 2021. I have few issues of this magazine but worked with it the first time and enjoyed the process because the magazine has individual paper patterns for every model. The sewing took about an hour but I refused from the pockets as the trousers are bulging enough around the waist and hips even without them. Actually I dislike that but can stand when it goes about home wear :-)
Домашні широкі штани
Хоча сьогодні був прекрасний сонячний день, без особливих причин мені було сумно. Весь день була зайнята, працювала на основній роботі і навіть трохи допомагала мамі у садочку без її прохання. Але все одно той мій смуток нікуди не подівся, здається лише заховався глибше в середині. Сподіваючись подолати такий стан, вирішила написати коротенький допис про мої нові домашні штани, які я пошила на зміну попередній парі. Цього разу використала модель 5С з Burda Easy Зима 2021. У мене є декілька чисел цього журналу, але працювала з ним вперше і процес мені сподобався, адже журнал має окремі паперові викрійки для кожної моделі. На пошиття пішла приблизно година, але я відмовилася від кишень, бо штани і без них широкі навколо талії та стегон, чого я не люблю, але з чим можу змиритися, коли йдеться про домашній одяг :-)
As the sewing is quick, there is not to tell a lot but if I ever make them again, I will narrow the trousers from the hips to the waist for at least 3 cm on the both sides to lessen the extra fabric.

Оскільки пошиття швидке, то розповідати про нього особливо немає чого, але, якщо колись ще робитиму цю модель, то звужу деталі від стегон до талії не менш ніж на 3 см з обох боків, що зменшити кількість зайвої тканини.
At first there appeared Burda #6381 dress pattern in my library. It grabbed my attention with its simple silhouette in a combination with 3/4 puff sleeves. The shoulder seam shifted to the front that makes the decorative buttons along it seeable.
The fabric was bought to make a checked flared trousers inspired by the thematical article on BurdaStyle Ukraine site. It is suit fabric but as soon as I got it and touched, its dense and soft texture defined the fabric's further fate to become some kind of dress. There was something in atmosphere probably that induced me to use this fabric as before I had already sewed few green items but the outcome is gorgeous indeed and I am really delighted with my choice of this match.
Картата сукня з пишними рукавами
Спочатку в моїй бібліотеці з'явилася викрійка сукні Burda #6381. Привернула вона мою увагу своїм простим силуетом в комбінації з пишними рукавами 3/4. Плечовий шов пересунутий на перед, що робить видимими декоративні ґудзики нашиті вздовж нього. Тканину було куплено для пошиву картатих штанів кльош, на які мене надихнула тематична стаття на сайті BurdaStyle Ukraine. Це костюмний матеріал, але щойно я його отримала і торкнулася, щільна але м'яка текстура тканини визначила її подальшу долю стати якоюсь сукнею. Щось таке, мабуть, було в атмосфері, що спонукало мені використати саме цю тканину, адже до того я пошила пару зелених речей, але результат прекрасний і я справді задоволена вибором цієї пари.
It is very good that I've read the instruction before starting the sewing because I was sure that the dress has a real fastening on the shoulder and I cut the shoulder plackets and only thought about how thick would be those layers so I should do something to make them thinner. It turned out the collar is made up of two parts and that's all. The buttons just sewed on along the shoulder seam. So extra fabric was cut to the seam allowance width.
Дуже добре, що я прочитала інструкцію перед початком роботи, тому що була впевнена, що сукня застібається на плечі і покроїла планки для такої застібки. І єдине про що я думала, наскільки всі ті шари тканини будуть товсті і що мені треба зробити для їхнього потоншення. З'ясувалося, що лише комір складається з двох частин і це все. Ґудзики лише нашиваються вздовж плечового шва. Тож зайву тканину я зрізала до ширини припусків на шви.
I used a short zipper as didn't want to get stuck into matching the checks without much sense in doing that because the dress has loose straight silhouette.
Блискавку я використала коротку, оскільки не хотіла ув'язнути у підбиранні клітинок без особливої потреби, адже сукня має прямий силует.
The processing of the cuffs made me happy. I used this technology a lot when being young and then forgot about here. For my dense fabric it was ideal idea.
Обробка манжетів порадувала. Таку технологію я багато використовувала змолоду, але потім забула про неї. Для моєї щільної тканини це було ідеально.
Essential detail - pleated shoulder pads to keep the shape of gathered sleeve caps. I made them of stiff shirt collar interfacing leftovers.
The hem and slit are processed with invisible stitch.
I also added a belt of 3.5 cm width.
Суттєва деталь - плечові накладки в складку, щоб трималися зібрані окати рукавів. Я їх зробила з залишків жорсткої прокладки для сорочкових комірців.
Низ і край розрізу підшити вручну потайним стібком.
Також додала пасок завширшки 3,5 см.
