Hibiscus Necklace. Final

These days I made the dress for which Hibiscus Necklace had been created. But the piece of jewellery looked uncompleted being worn with it because the outfit required something more fluffy and bulky. So I made two more flowers by the same pattern. One of them using Czech seed beads 10.0 and the second one with Matsuno cut beads 11.0. This flower turned out to be much lighter and it means that for making a brooch, it would suit very well. Thanking to the heavy base of the initial pendant the necklace stays in the centre of the front despite asymmetrical composition. In this way the item looks more... persuasive as the decor of tropical blossoming :-)

Намисто "Гібіскус" (закінчення)

Днями пошила сукню, для якої було створено намисто "Гібіскус". Але воно виглядало  в парі з нею якимось незакінченим, тому що вбрання потребувало щось більш громіздке і пишне. Тому я сплела ще дві квітки за тією ж схемою. Одну з чеського бісеру 10.0, а іншу з рубки Matsuno 11.0. Ця квітка виявилася набагато легшою, отже для виготовлення брошки підійшла б дуже добре. Завдяки важкій основі початкового кулону прикраса залишається в центрі переду незважаючи на асиметричну композицію. Так намисто виглядає більш переконливим... у якості оздоблення з тропічних квітів :-)

Kaftan, or Scenery (Dress)

During last five years thanking to some kind of touristic boom I had more trips around Ukraine than during all my previous life. And I can  say definitely that, of course, Italian scenery is fabulous but our, Ukrainian one, is one of the best too :-) I live in a large city, that is located on the territory not big enough for it and not many people take care about its clean environment. So the concrete constructions and polluted air are my town's integral attributes. Despite that Mykolaiv is a green city with lined up with trees streets and a lot of private houses surrounded by orchards. But anyway I feel a lack of wandering around big parks or gardens. I don't mind admiring mountainous scenery or endless steppe,... that, in fact, doesn't look too picturesque now because of heat climate but its immense space is still there :-) In such moments memories and watching the photos from the visited places are quite helpful. Besides, one can sew a dress of loose silhouette to feel easy and free in it. Exactly as it feels while walking in those amazing places.

Каптан, або Краєвиди (Сукня)

За останні п'ять років, завдяки такому собі туристичному буму, я наїздила Україною більше ніж за все попереднє життя і можу точно сказати,  італійські краєвиди прекрасні, але наші, українські, теж задніх не пасуть :-) 

Я живу у великому місті, яке розташовано на замалій для нього території та і чистотою довкілля не так вже тут і переймаються. Тож, бетонні споруди і загазованість повітря - його невід'ємні атрибути. Не зважаючи на це, Миколаїв - зелене місто з вулицями обсадженими деревами та приватними будиночками з фруктовими садочками та квітами навколо. І все ж таки цього літа мені не вистачає прогулянок великими парками або садами. Я б не проти і помилуватися гірським пейзажем або безкрайнім степом... який, правда, вже вигорів на сонці і не так вже і мальовничо виглядає зараз, але ж його безмежний простір нікуди не подівся :-) В таких випадках виручають спогади та перегляд фотографій з відвіданих місць. А ще можна сукню пошити такого широкого крою, щоб почуватися в ній невимушено і вільно, так само як почуваєшся під час прогулянок всіма тими чудовими місцями.

The  dress #111 from Burda 6/2018 became my favourite in the issue at once and I wanted to make it of green linen because of all those mentioned above ideas and the fabric was prepared. But then I decided I wanted to decorate it with embroidery, that takes time, so the sewing was postponed to this summer. 

The jewellery matches the outfit indeed.

Сукня 111 з Burda 6/2018 одразу стала моєю улюбленицею і мені захотілося пошити її з зеленого льону саме через всі ті вищезгадані думки і тканину було підготовлено. Але потім я вирішила прикрасити її вишивкою, тож пошиття було відкладено на це літо, бо вишивка потребує часу.

Ці прикраси справді пасують до сукні.

The dress was not hard for sewing but requires some extra attention while stitching the pleats. They are easier to make if to press them at first.

Сукню шити було неважко, але стачування складок потребує додаткової уваги. Простіше це робити, якщо спочатку їх припрасувати.

The joining of detail 22 was confusing a little because with ready pleats it was a little wider than the length of the front edge so extra cut was needed to prolong the seam.

Пришивання деталі 22 трохи збентежило, бо із застроченим складками вона виявилася ширшою за край передньої частини. тож довелося зробити додаткову надсічку, щоб подовжити шов.

After that I cut and stitched the embroidered motifs. 

Після того я вирізала і настрочила вишиті мотиви.

The last step: hemming with, as we say here, "enveloped" corners. 

Останній крок - обробка низу "конвертиком".

Hibiscus Necklace

If put some project aside, it can stay unfinished indefinite time so to avoid it and having on mind some ideas, last few days I spent for making this Hibiscus Necklace. The necklace consists of three parts: the flower itself (the details are here), an open shape frame as a base for a pendant and a herringbone rope. The extra bonus - I bought nothing to make this necklace because used only the materials from my stash. And it is good because when the stash is becoming emptier, it means some day I can indulge myself in making it full with something new :-)

Намисто "Гібіскус" 

Якщо відкласти якійсь проект на потім, він може залишатися незавершеним невизначений час, тож, щоб цьому запобігти і маючи декілька ідей, останні декілька днів я витратила на виготовлення цього намиста. Воно складається з трьох елементів: самої квітки (докладніше про неї тут), рамки-трапеції як основи для кулону і джгута ндебеле. Додатковий бонус - нічого не купувала для роботи, скористалася тим, що було в запасах. І це добре, бо якщо запаси чогось закінчуються, одного дня можна буде дозволити собі їх трохи поповнити :-)

At first I made a pendant. Since I beaded my first open shape, I had some practice to make them, in the blog the projects are labelled as "geometry". I chose trapezium form to try new variant. The common idea of the beading them is, for example, here. Then sewed the flower to the frame. 

Спочатку зробила кулон. З того часу як я нанизала мою першу відкриту форму, у мене ще були можливості тренуватися., у блозі такі проекти ідуть під тегом (міткою) "geometry". Вибрала форму трапеції, щоб спробувати новий варіант. Загальне уявлення про таке плетіння можна знайти, наприклад, тут.

Then I beaded a new for me type of a herringbone rope from Leslee Frumin tutorial. Its pattern you can find free here. I am planning to add one more rope but in the colours of the flower.

Потім сплела новий для мене тип джгута ндебеле з майстер класу Leslee Frumin. Його модель можна безкоштовно взяти тут. Збираюся додати ще одну стрічку такого джгута, але в кольорах квітки.

Beaded Hibiscus, Stylization II

I already made one stylised flower of hibiscus two years ago. It was an element of a bracelet. Yesterday I tried one more variant of beading the flower by Kerrie Slade's pattern from Bead&Button magazine, April 2008. It is different but surprisingly reminds the hibiscus flower anyway:-) The pattern is simple and clear, took me about 5 hours to make. I intended to use this flower as an element for a brooch. But it turned out to be quite heavy for that, at least for a summer outfits so I will have to change my plan and make a pendant. 

Плетений з бісеру гібіскус, або Стилізація ІІ

Я вже робила стилізовану квітку гібіскуса два роки тому. Це був елемент браслету. Вчора спробувала ще один варіант цієї сплетеної з бісеру квітки, модель з журналу Bead&Button, April 2008 від Kerrie Slade. Вона геть відрізняється, але, на диво, все ж таки нагадує квітку гібіскуса :-) Модель проста і зрозумілий, на виготовлення пішло десь 5 годин.  Квітка мала стати елементом брошки, але виявилася заважкою, принаймні для літнього вбрання, тож доведеться змінити наміри і зробити кулон.

The flower was beaded with two colours of Czech seed beads 10.0. because I didn't have enough seed beads of one colour. For the stamen 4 mm pearls are used.

Квітку сплетено двома кольорами чеського бісеру №10, тому що достатньої кількості одного кольору у мене не було. Для плодоніжки згодилися перлини 4 мм.

Overcut Shoulder Dress, or Florence & Poppies

When thinking about my luggage while preparing to this year Italian Vacation, this dress was planned to be the only one new item I was going to pack. It is known I have many and even more than I need dresses to wear so choosing clothes for trips is never a problem for me... the problem is not to take too much and be able to put any of them on after I gained some weight :-) But this outfit had to be in the suitcase because made me dream about Florence. I don't know why. Maybe because their colours are red and white. Or maybe because, among all the breathtaking Italian towns and cities I visited afterwords, the chance to see Florence with its culture heritage was the very one that made me crazy most of all. Who knows... Florence is the place which made me wish to populate it with all its Renaissance artists and writers and statesmen and lose oneself in their crowd... And you do lose... your mouth is open most of the time at its widest and your head surely needs a superpower to rotate to see as more as possible to saturate your mind  and soul with the impressions made by pieces of art and historical sights. Actually, time by time it was the only way to isolate oneself from thousands of tourists around who were probably eager to do the same :-)

Сукня з заниженим плечем, або Флоренція та маки

Коли розмірковувала про багаж, поки готувалася до цьогорічних італійських канікул, ця сукня була єдиним новим вбранням, яке я збиралася взяти з собою. Відомо, що у мене багато і навіть більше, ніж треба, суконь, тож вибір одягу для подорожей ніколи не буває для мене проблемою... проблемою буває намагання взяти забагато або влізти в нього після того як я трохи набрала вагу:-) Але ця сукня мала бути у валізі тому що навіювала мрії про Флоренцію. Не знаю чому. Може тому, що кольори міста - білий і червоний. А може тому, що серед усіх неймовірних  італійських міст які я згодом відвідала, саме думка про можливість побачити Флоренцію з її культурною спадщиною перехоплювала подих. Хто зна... Флоренція - це таке місце, яке породжує бажання населити його всіма тими художниками, письменниками і історичними діячами епохи Ренесансу і загубитися в їхньому натовпі... Ти і справді губишся... рот твій майже весь час якнайширше відкритий, а голова вже напевно потребує супервміння обертатися навколо, щоб побачити якнайбільше та наситити розум і душу враженнями створеними витворами мистецтва та історичними пам'ятками. Взагалі, час від часу, це єдиний спосіб відокремити себе від тисяч туристів навколо, які, вочевидь, палко бажають того ж самого :-)

However, "going to pack" doesn't mean "to pack indeed" :-) So this dress #102 from Burda 5/2019 didn't go  to Italy but stayed at home to wait for being finished after my coming back. So the pictures of it were taken in my home town.

Проте, "збиратися покласти у валізу " не означає "справді покласти" :-) Тож ця сукня 102 з Burda 5/2019 до Італії не поїхала, а залишалася вдома і чекала, коли я повернуся і її дошию. Тож фото сукні були зроблені в моєму рідному місті.

The pattern is an ideal match with this fabric that is dense enough to keep the shape of the skirt but thin enough to wear the dress in hot weather. Cotton stretch, it was said to be Italian. But they say a lot in the stores :-) I was in love with the fabric from the first sight because of Florence and because of poppies, of course :-) 

The pair of matching earrings and one of the bracelets from the bunch on my arm complete the outfit.

Модель ідеально сполучається з тканиною, яка достатньо щільна, щоб тримати форму спідниці, але  і достатньо тонка, щоб носити сукню в спекотну погоду. Бавовна з додаванням еластану. Сказали, що італійська, але в крамницях багато чого кажуть :-) У тканину я закохалася з першого погляду і через Флоренцію і, звісно ж, через маки :-) 

Пара сережок і один з браслетів з цілого набору у мене на руці доповнюють вбрання.

I avoid to line dresses if it is possible because our summers are quite hot. So I had to make some changes. The first one: the processing of the band.

Я уникаю пришивання підкладки, якщо це можливо, тому що влітку у нас доволі спекотно. Тож довелося зробити декілька змін. Перша: обробка поясу.

The second one: processing of the neck hole with the facing.

Далі: обробка горловини обшивкою.

The last one: the processing of the arm holes with bias stripes.

Остання: обробка пройм косими бейками.

Dance Around Dress Bracelet :-)

I am still going dancing around the dress I am working on now :-) Last time it meant I made a piece of cross stitching to decorate it, now it means I made two pieces of jewellery to complete the future outfit:-)

The first item is a simple necklace. It's pendant made of the coin I bought during my trip to Green Farmstead. Thus buying souvenirs is yet can be useful if to know why to do that :-) The second item is a bracelet remade of my old one. Its idea is as actual as it used to be but the design was changed a little.

Браслет "Танок навколо сукні":-)

Я все ще танцюю навколо сукні, над якою зараз працюю:-) Минулого разу це означало, що я вишила хрестиком мотиви для її оздоблення, а зараз це означає, що я зробила дві прикраси, щоб доповнити майбутнє вбрання:-)

 Перша з них - просте намисто зроблене з монети, яку купила під час подорожі на Зелені Хутори. Тож купівля сувенірів все ж таки може бути корисною, якщо знаєш навіщо це робиш :-) Друга прикраса - браслет перероблений зі старого. Думка, яку він виражає, не втратила своєї актуальності, але дизайн зовсім трішечки змінився.

Both of the projects are quick... if not to have in mind the process of making a hole in the coin to add the bail. My cousin's husband, who drilled it, said the metal is very durable so it was troublesome. When the hole is ready the rest of actions are simple and clear.

Обидва проекти швидкі... якщо забути про процес свірління отвору у монеті, щоб закріпити бейл. Чоловік моєї сестри, який це робив, сказав, що метал дуже міцний, тож це завдало клопоту. Коли отвір готовий, всі решта кроків прості і зрозумілі.

As for the bracelet, the main part was not to lose all the beads after undoing the old item :-) I cannot say which of the variants I like better. The old one looked airy but, as I used cheap materials (which were not very cheap for me then at all), the finding became dark and lost their attractive shining. The new bracelet doesn't have those findings and looks more solid but it became a real stash buster as I used almost all the beads of the kinds. And that is very good.

Щодо браслету, тут головне було не розгубити всі намистини після того, як старий був розібраний :-) Не можу сказати, який з варіантів  мені більше подобається. Перший виглядав невагомішим, але, оскільки я використовувала дешеві (які для мене тоді були зовсім не дешеві!) матеріали, металеві дужки потемнішали з часом і втратили свій привабливий блиск. Новий браслет виглядає більш масивним, але він став справжнім поглиначем запасів, оскільки майже всі намистини даних видів були використані і це дуже добре.

Cross-Stitched Motifs, or Scenery

I try to travel as much as can afford. While going by bus or train a lot of interesting and beautiful can be seen right out of the window or during the stops on the way to destination. I think about that quite often... in fact, every time when having a trip:-) Surely the scenery is very inspiring and give birth to numberless thoughts.  

Мотиви вишиті хрестиком, або Краєвиди

Я намагаюсь подорожувати стільки, скільки можу собі дозволити. І, поки дістаєшся місця призначення, можна побачити багато цікавого і прекрасного з вікна автобусу чи потягу або під час зупинок. Я про це думаю доволі часто... фактично щоразу під час мандрівки :-) Авжеж, такі краєвиди надихають та занурюють у безліч думок.

Cross stitched motifs can help to express any mood. For example, the rhombuses I have here embody the impressions got while contemplating such landscapes quite well. I used the fragment of the pattern for a national Ukrainian towel (rushnyk) to make them.

This work is a kind of introduction to one of the next sewing projects I am going to start.

Вишитими хрестиком мотивами можна виразити будь який настрій. Наприклад, ці мої ромби дуже добре втілюють враження від споглядання подібних краєвидів. Щоб їх вишити, скористалася фрагментом схеми для рушника.

Ця робота - певний вступ до одного з наступних кравецьких проектів, над яким я збираюся працювати.
