Italian Collage Shirt Dress

It turned out to be a great thought to connect ideas of the destinations with the ideas of the clothes... At least this dress has already worked! I have nothing to do but go on :-)

Поєднати ідею одягу з ідеєю мандрів виявилося чудовою думкою... Принаймні ця сукня спрацювала! Не маю іншого вибору як продовжувати :-)

On the selvage of the fabric, it was written "silk". And as far as I remember on its price tag in the store Italy was mentioned as a country-manufacturer. Not sure any of the notes is true but choosing the pattern for the sewing made me ponder about Italian Vacation (one more dream in my thrift-box of stereotypes :-)) And thinking about such a trip makes me confess about the absence of the all-in-one portrait of the country in my mind. It is more like a collection of the things I read, heard, saw and, of course, imagine about it:-)

The first that occurs is Italian Fine Art and the bunch of geniuses who provided immortality for themselves and eternal interest to the country for their posterity. The second image - unbelievable architecture - and you wander about the country as if about one entire museum all the time there.  Next episode - Italian cuisine. I'm going to eat a lot there so the dress should be very loose not only because of Italian heat:-) Then Italian movies and their characters... Italian designers.. Italian classic music and modern one - my last school years were accompanied by it... Italian landscapes... I guess these are enough to make the whole collage in warm colours to reflect all the ideas together.

And I guess the fact of 38C degrees above zero outside also had a certain influence on the final choice of the pattern:-))

Сукня-cорочка "Італійський колаж"

На кромці тканини було написано "шовк". І, наскільки пам'ятаю, на ціннику Італія була вказана як країна виробник. Не певна, що все вказане правда, але вибір моделі для пошиття навів на думки про італійські канікули (ще одна мрія в моїй кубушці  стереотипів:-)  А міркування про таку подорож примушують зізнатись, що немає в моїй голові якогось цільного образу країни. Це скоріше набір речей, які я колись читала, чула,  бачила і - як же без цього -  уявляла про неї.
Перше, що спадає на думку, це італійське мистецтво і купа геніїв, що забезпечили собі безсмертя, а своїм нащадкам вічний інтерес до країни. Ще один образ - неймовірна архітектура, і  ти  блукаєш по країні, як по одному великому музею. Наступний епізод - італійська кухня. Я збираюсь там багато їсти, тому сукня має бути дуже вільною не лише через італійську спеку:-) Потім італійське кіно і його герої... Італійські дизайнери... Італійська класична музика... і сучасна - мої останні роки в школі минули під її акомпанемент... Італійські пейзажі... Бачу, тут вже назбиралось світлин на цілий колаж в теплих кольорах, що відзеркалюють всі ці образи водночас.
Ну, і  + 38С на вулиці теж мали певний вплив на кінцевий вибір фасону:-)

So the pattern. Model #102 from Burda 05/2014. And you'll see it is modified pretty much because as it happened often the fabric was bought to sew a blouse but after two years of storing it turned out to be a dress. The bodice was cut and sewed as a single-piece detail.




Отже модель: №102 з Burda 05/2014 і, як побачите, дуже помітно модифікована, тому що, як це часто буває, тканина купувалась, щоб стати блузою, а через два роки очікувань виявилась сукнею:-) Основну частину сукні покроєно цільною деталлю без планок.

As I decided to have the button on the yoke and, as I had no choice, I made separate plackets on the yoke instead of single-piece.

Оскільки я вирішила пришити ґудзика на кокетку  і тому що у мене не було іншого вибору, замість цільнокроєної планки застібки, я зробила пришивну.

Despite my rich sewing experience I' have never made such kinds of pockets so decided to do them anyway. And I recommend copying the pockets line with copy stitches, in this way your ready pockets will be undoubtedly symmetrical.

Незважаючи на мій пристойний досвід шиття, я в житті не робила такі кишені, тому вирішила їх залишити в будь-якому випадку. І рекомендую перенести контури кишень копіювальними стіжками, тоді в готовому вигляді кишені будуть безсумнівно симетричними.

And one more trick if you have no fabric but yet want the pockets. The technology allows to make pocket pieces only partly from the main fabric. 4 cm stripe is enough to mask the entrance to the pocket. Don't forget to baste the entrance to the pocket before sewing its pieces to the front detail.

Ще один прийомчик, якщо тканини немає, а кишені хочеться. Технологія дозволяє зробити мішковину лише частково з основної тканини - 4 см смужки цілком достатньо, щоб замаскувати вхід до кишені. Не забудь замітати вхід до кишені перед тим, як притачати мішковини до сукні.

I like the yoke very much and the way the shoulder line is designed but after trying on I decided to make the joining seam shorter - in this way the shoulders don't look so wide and proportions are much better.

Мені дуже подобається кокетка і конструкція плечової лінії, але я зробила з'єднувальний шов коротшим. Так плечі виглядають менш широкими і пропорції кращі.

And last but one idea - if you have no fabric for the hem facing, you can make it pretty neat anyway.
Mark the seam allowance for the hem - 1.5 cm.
Make a line of stitches on the machine along the edge it will give enough gathering to round the seam allowance.
Roll the seam allowance twice, baste.
Give top stitches. Iron.

Передостання ідея, якщо тканини на обшивки для обробки низу немає, можна це зробити досить охайно і без них.
Намічаємо лінію низу - 1,5 см.
Прокладаємо на машинці лінію стібків вздовж краю - це дасть достатню посадку для закруглення краю.
Підгортаємо припуск двічі, заметуємо.
Відстрочуємо на машинці, прасуємо.

As the Italian trip is yet virtual (for a while), I thought the dress needed at least a little fitting so made such a thin belt from the rayon leftovers, chain, and pendants. By the way, after dinner, you can wear it as a necklace:-)

І оскільки подорож Італією все ж таки поки що віртуальна, я подумала, що сукня потребує хоч невеличкого прилягання. Тому зробила ось такий тоненький пасок з залишків віскозної пряжі, ланцюжка і підвісок. До речі по обіді його можна вдягати на шию як намисто :-)

 

Let's complete the image with the bracelet and the earrings. I guess it is a suitable dress for a summer trip. Maybe it will be used for it someday:-)

Доповнюємо вбрання браслетом  і сережками . Здається, гарна сукня для подорожі. Можливо колись вона для цього і знадобиться:-)

Like a Piece of Heirloom

If I ever had any, of course... When I bought these rivioli and was matching the seed beads for making the bezel, on some reason I fancied how  the ready earrings would look if I had got them as heirloom from any of my grand grandmas. One of them I saw a couple of times. It was an old-aged woman, who read without glasses at her eighty; small and gaunt, with worn with hard work hands and wearing a very neat kerchief she was sitting on an ancient bed in the shadow under the tree... And her portrait had nothing in common with an old dark chest, in which grandchildren find various treasures... No. But the image of another grandma, which I have never seen in my life and just heard about her only a thing or two surely could inspire for such visions. She was in origin from Poltava and before met her Polish fiance, was a, what is now called, self-employed: she travelled around, stayed in different families and while staying made clothes for the household and in this way earned for living. At least the family legend says so. 

Why I thought about that, I don't know but at last for beading the bezel I chose this darkish as if touched with patina bronze seed beads that spell some dream about a mysterious chest, where such earrings for a great granddaughter had                                                                            been stored since unknown times.

 Як з бабусиної скрині

Як би така скриня у нас в родині була, звісно... Коли я купила ці ріволі і підбирала колір бісеру для оздоблення, то чомусь уявляла, якби виглядали готові сережки, якщо б дістались мені в спадок від однієї з моїх прабабусь. Одну з них я ще застала живою: це була старенька, яка читала без окулярів майже до вісімдесяти років. Маленька і сухенька, з  виснаженими від важкої праці руками і завжди в дуже охайній хустинці, вона сиділа на старому ліжку у тіньочку під деревом... Цей образ якось не в'язався зі старою скринею, в якій онуки знаходять різні "скарби"... Ні. А ось образ іншої прабабці, яку я в житті не бачила та і чула про неї  всього декілька речей, міг би надихнути на такі думки. Вона була родом десь з Полтавщини і, до того як зустріла свого нареченого поляка, заробляла тим, що мандрувала по різних усюдах, зупинялась в хатах різних людей і, поки жила в тих оселях, шила хазяєвам одяг. Принаймні, так розповідає родинна легенда. 

Чому мені думалось про таке, я не знаю, але врешті решт для оздоблення я обрала цей темнуватий наче вкритий патиною бронзовий бісер, що навіює видіння про стареньку скриньку, в який  з давніх часів зберігалися ось таки сережки для правнучки.

It is my first attempt and experience to bead a bezel and I guess it is pretty successful. And it is not so complex as I expected it would. The most important to watch or to read a few tutorials to understand the common idea of the beading. You can find a lot of them, as for me, I like this one and for the triangular stone. Most or maybe all of the tutorials recommend to use  seed beads of different size and shapes - the contrast actually gives the shape for the bezel, some tutorials depict the bezel for a certain size so you have to think on your own about the numbers of seed beads and rows. I only had our mostly spread Czech seed beads 10.0 so had to improvise.

Це моя перша спроба і досвід з виготовлення такого цапу для ріволі і досить успішна. І до того ж це не настільки складно, як я очікувала. Найважливіше - подивитись декілька, або багато, різних МК по темі і зрозуміти загальну ідею нанизування. Таких МК є дуже багато, мені подобається ось цей і цей (для трикутного каменю).  Більшість, а може і всі, МК вимагають використовувати бісер різної форми і розміру: контраст якраз і утворює форму для ріволі; деякі МК описують цап для ріволі певного розміру або форми, тому доводиться самому міркувати над кількістю бісеру і рядів нанизування. У мене був лише найбільш поширений у нас чеський бісер №10, тому мусила імпровізувати.

It seems to me the best piece of heirloom I could get from that my great grandma is my passion to create different things. And for saving such treasure I need no chest...

Здається, найкращий спадок, який я могла отримати від тієї прабабці, це моя пристрасть до створення різних речей. А щоб зберігати такий скарб, жодної скрині не потрібно...

Mountains & Valleys

The idea of the bracelet is very simple - the wire spiral climbing to the elbow and green and brown beads can't but make me think about the paths among picturesque summer hills and mountains to the tops lighted with the sun. I used to live in such places... and remember  moments when you don't believe the Geography textbook saying about meadows and bald mountain peaks because they are so high and contrast with  the shadowy paths through thick forest at their root... Sweet memories... Maybe this caused me to choose this theme for my first project with memory wire ( at least wire has memory here:-))

Гори і долини

Ідея браслету дуже проста - спіраль, що підіймається до самого ліктя та зелений і коричневий кольори намистин не можуть не наводити на думки про стежки серед мальовничих літніх пагорбів або гір, що ведуть до освітлених сонцем вершин. Я колись жила в таких місцях і пам'ятаю моменти, коли не віриш підручнику з географії, який розповідає про альпійські луки і голі піки гір, тому що вони так високо і так не схожі на  тінисті стежини серед густого лісу біля їхнього підніжжя... Приємні спогади... Може тому і вирішила обрати цю тему для моєї першої роботи з "memory wire" - дротом з пам'яттю ( ну, хоч у когось тут же має бути пам'ять :-))

The work is very simple and reminds even more the kid's fun when you know what you want and have what you need.

 Робота дуже проста і ще більше нагадує дитячу забавку, коли знаєш, що хочеш і у тебе все для цього є.

To define how many and what materials you need I advice at first to draw or assemble the pattern of your bracelet in line right on the table. Make a loop on one of the wire ends now just bead in the way you want, end with the loop as well.

The important piece of advice from professionals - never cut the memory wire with usual jewelry cutters, only with special ones or with a workshop tool.

Щоб визначитися скільки і яких матеріалів потрібно, пропоную спочатку скласти рапорт візерунку прямо на столі.  Зроби з одного кінця дроту петлю і тепер просто нанизуй. Закінчи теж петлею.

Важлива порада від справжніх спеціалістів: ніколи не різати дріт з пам'яттю ювелірними кусачками, лише або спеціальними або з чоловічої майстерні.

That's all. If the bracelet is long enough like mine, you can spread it up to the elbow or push the rings of the wire together and have it dense. Wear the way you want. I like both variants.

Ось і все. Якщо браслет довгий, можна розтягнути його до ліктя, або стягнути всі кільця разом, як хочеш. Мені обидва варіанти подобаються.

Ukrainian in July:-)

A couple of weeks ago I went from Odesa to Mykolaiv and what the incredibly beautiful view along the road! One of the best Ukrainian summer landscapes - sunflowers in full blossom on the background of the blue sky! It is impossible not to fall in love with this scenery!
So how could I resist and not to buy the fabric with the same print and not to sew a dress? Although, despite the print, the ready dress reminds samurai clothes with its silhouette. Seriously.... Or the garments of the 20ths of the 20th century which I don't like a lot  unless to talk about history of costume. But to wear... no... up to now:-) Because nobody warned that the pattern has a pretty big lap and that you have to look for the waist line about 4 cm lower than it should be. At first I thought I had mixed up the patterns and this one was for very tall women and I just had missed to change it. But even after trying on and cutting the extra fabric - the lap was still big: I just couldn't believe I had to cut 4 cm along the waist so cut only about 2 cm and it was wrong... But yet I  have reasons to be delighted with my work: the fabric is wonderful and suits me perfect, besides, any wardrobe needs some diversity:-)

Нещодавно їхала автобусом трасою Одеса - Миколаїв: яка ж краса! Соняшники такі яскраві, свої голівоньки до сонця повернули, пелюстки розгорнули - наче весь світ осяяли, аж небо синішим здається... Як таку картину можна не любити! І як можна таку тканину не купити і сукню не пошити (знову рима..., мабуть настрій поетичний:-)). Хоча сукня взагалі-то якась самурайська вийшла, але ж колорит - наш :-) Крім того, її силует - точнісінько як у вбрання панянок з якихось 20-х років, а мене такий стиль не вабить, хіба що з точки зору історії костюма... Але так щоб носити - ні, не моє... було, а тепер нікуди не подінешся, бо ніхто не попередив, що сукня має напуск по талії і її, тобто талію,  треба шукати десь см на 4 нижче ніж вона має бути. Я спочатку подумала, що переплутала викрійку і вона розрахована на високий зріст, тому треба було внести до неї зміни, які я прогавила. Але навіть вже після примірки і підрізання  верхньої частини - напуск все  одно залишився завеликий - я не могла повірити, що маю зрізати майже чотири см з довжини верху, щоб талія була на місті, то підстрахувалась і зрізала трохи більше двох, а дарма... Та щоб радіти результатові досить і чудової тканини, що мені до лиця, і, до речі, різноманітність ще жодному гардеробові не завадила :-)

Pattern #127B from Burda 3/2015. In fact the real dress looks like #127A where you clearly can see the low waist line what I didn't like but neglected the fact on unknown reason.

Модель №127B, Burda 3/2015. Насправді вигляд №127А більш відповідає дійсності. Тут якраз і можна побачити занижену лінію талії, яка мені не сподобалась, але я чомусь цим фактом знехтувала.

Cutting

I was short of fabric a little so omitted the pockets with no regret. Besides, the fabric has big flowers so I refused from yoke and made some changes  to make a skirt just of two halves. It was possible to make it without a seam at all if to fold the fabric with both edges to the centre but in this way the skirt won't be draping and the fitting would be worse.

Мені трохи не вистачало тканини і без найменшого жалю я відмовилась від кишень. А оскільки тканина має великий візерунок, я вирішила змінити задню частину спідниці і зробити її без кокетки. Можна було б також зробити її взагалі без шва, але тоді вона не давала б таку невеличку фалду, яка дає гарну посадку.

At first I cut all the symmetrical details on the folded fabric and then cut the front of skirt on one layer of the fabric.



Спочатку покроїла всі симетричні деталі на складеній тканині, а потім вже передню частину спідниці на тканині в один шар.

After breaking the design I had to break the technology as well because having omitted the back yoke I yet left the belt, detail #9. And after the sewing it to the skirt I had to think how to join the bodice and the skirt.



Після зміни дизайну довелося змінювати і технологію, тому що відмовившись від кокетки спинки я все ж таки залишила втачний пояс, деталь №9. А після того як його пришила, мала добре подумати, як з'єднати верхню частину сукні із спідницею.

       

1. The slit in the front of the skirt will be neat if when sewing the edge to put a piece of tracing paper underneath. The narrow seam allowance won't rolling.
Beisdes, if the fabric is thin and soft, the angles of the slit will stretch so when sewing the front part to the front yoke, let the angle bigger seam allowance (just about 1 cm).





1. Розріз по передній частині спідниці  буде охайним, якщо під час підшивання підкласти під роботу шматочок кальки, вузький припуск не буде звертатись.
Крім того, якщо тканина м'яка і тонка, то кутки розрізу витягнуться. Тому коли пришиваємо передню частину спідниці до кокетки переду, нехай куточки виступають за припуск на шов десь на один см.

2. Easy trick with slope stitches lets the angles of your belt stay ideal. I used to share this technique on Burda.

2. Простий прийомчик з косими стіжками зробить ідеальними кутки кокетки передньої частини. Я вже ділилась цим прийомом на сайті Burda.

3. To define where you like your waist line is easy with the help of a piece of chalk and thin rope (the best choice is elastic). Tie the latter around the waist and mark with the chalk the right line under the rope when trying on the dress. Then unbaste the details, fold the bodice symmetrically (wrong side inside) by the centre of the back, trim and mark the new waist line, cut the extra fabric, don't forget the seam allowance.

3. Визначитися з бажаним місцем для талії дуже просто за допомогою крейди і тоненької мотузки (в ідеалі - гумки). Зав'язуємо її на талії і відмічаємо крейдою під мотузкою, де має бути  правильна лінія талії. Потім видаляємо зметувальні стібки, складаємо деталі симетрично по центру спинки, виводимо нову лінії талії, підрізуємо, не забуваємо про припуск на шов.

Now join the bodice and the skirt. NB! Step 1 is only for such changes in the design like I did,  not  for the magazine's instruction.

Тепер зшиваємо верхню і нижню частини.

NB! Пункт 1 лише для таких змін в моделі як зробила я, а не під інструкцію в журналі.

1. Sew the side seams leaving about 4-5 cm from the waist unsewed. Then sew together only back part of the skirt (including the belt) and  the yoke.


1. Зшиваємо бокові шви, залишаємо незшитими десь 5 см від талії. Потім зшиваємо всі шари деталей разом крім нижньої кокетки.

2. Sew the bodice to the skirt. And then sew the face of yoke to this joining seam ( it can be done with hand slip stitches on the wrong side) or, like I did, with slip stitches on the sewing machine in the joining seam on the right side.

2. З'єднуємо верхню і нижню частину. Потім пришиваємо нижню частину кокетки в цей з'єднувальний шов. Можна зробити  це потайними стібками вручну по внутрішній стороні кокетки, а можна на машинці (як я зробила) по лицевій стороні.

Iron thoroughly, complete the outfit with the earrings  and wear with pleasure:-)
Старанно прасуємо, доповнюємо сукню сережками і з задоволенням носимо:-)

Czechs are very inventive in producing of seed beads  that differ in shapes, colours and sizes and inspire the beaders with creative challenges... And I am very glad that it is not so easy to buy them (probably because of prices, all those intricate seed beads are not very popular and available here otherwise I would spend much more money on them  than I do now) although the deal isn't hopeless. In the beginning of my vacation I hung about stores and came across dagger beads. They wounded my imagination very deeply - the view of a sunflower arouse in my mind and having made a circle of the beads, I understood at once what I wanted from them :-)

Вигадливі ж ці чехи зі своїми намистинами, яких тільки форм, розмірів і кольорів немає... у нас, правда і немає, мабуть через ціни, але все ж таки дещо надибати можна. На початку відпустки вешталася я якось по крамницях в пошуках невідомо чого і побачила такі собі намистини - "dagger", тобто "кинджал". Вразили вони мою уяву дуже глибоко - образ соняшника повстав перед очима і, склавши коло з цих милих "кинджальчиків", я одразу зрозуміла, що я від них хочу :-)

My initial materials were dagger beads, leaf beads, seed beads (I guess #8), round beads and earring hooks. "Initial" because I had the main plan to make a flower and after that I could decide what to do next.

Спочатку я приготувала "кинджальчики", намистини листочки, бісер (мабуть №8), круглі намистини і гачки для сережок. "Спочатку", бо головне  було - зробити квітку, а все інше я могла придумати і пізніше.

                                                 Daggers and seed beads were connected in a flower by this tutorial .

When I tried on a black bead for the flower centre, it seemed to be pretty gloomy and sunflower is a very cheerful flower so I used a green bead.

Коли я приміряла чорну намистину для середини, квітка здалася мені якоюсь похмурою, а соняшник має бути життєрадісним, тому я використала зелену намистину.

To strengthen the flower, as І didn't follow the instruction in the video for back reinforcing, I decided to sew it to the square connector ( І forgot to make a picture but on the rest of them the base is seen. This gave the necessary stiffness. And now it is an element which already can be a ring, a pendant or an earring.

Щоб зміцнити квітку, оскільки я не дотримувалась інструкцій у відео щодо зворотнього боку, я вирішила її просто нашити на конектор квадратної форми ( я забула зробити фото, але на решті з них цю основу видно). Тепер квітка перетворилась на елемент, який можна використати для кільця,  кулона, або сережки.

                                               

All the elements I joined with a piece of chain and jump rings.
And this is my interpretation of the sunflower: funny and effective.

Всі елементи я з'єднала ланцюжком і кільцями. 

Ось така інтерпретація соняшника у мене вийшла: весела і ефектна.

Raspberry Song

It is raspberry not only because of the colour but mostly because it is as sweet as raspberry this year :-) So after eating enough berries from my parents' garden and being in a great mood anybody would like to sing a song or, if this way of self-expression doesn't work to you, you can make such a necklace having the image of the sweetest berry on your mind :-)

Малинова пісня 

Не в тому сенсі, що її співають в українському місті Малині (наголос на перший склад) або у бельгійському Maлині (наголос на другий склад, Malines), а в тому, що вона така ж солодка як і малина в цьому році :-)

Тож поласувавши від пуза ягодами з батьківського саду, будь-хто забажав би заспівати пісню, але, якщо такий спосіб самовираження не спрацьовує, можна нанизати ось таке намисто: тут тобі і малина, і співаки:-)

To make the lace you need seed beads of different sizes, glass beads of any colour you want, two (or four or six, or as many as you want) lampwork bird beads, patience, good mood and some raspberries for inspiration:-)

Щоб зробити таке намисто тобі знадобиться бісер різного розміру, скляні намистини будь-якого вподобаного кольору, дві (або чотири, або шість, або скільки хочеш) намистини lampwork у вигляді пташок, терпіння, гарний настрій і трохи ягід малини для натхнення:-)

The patience is needed to make raspberry beads, I used this tutorial again for making about 30 beaded balls. (I once used it for this project ). 

Терпіння необхідне, щоб зробити біля 30 намистин "малинок", я знову скористалась цим МК , який вже якось перевірила на цьому виробі .

The length of the necklace and the way of stringing depends only on your wish and taste. My necklace is about 112 cm. I only recommend to try the necklace on before adding a clasp to define where you want your birds singing :-)

Довжина намиста і спосіб нанизування залежить лише від твого бажання і смаку. Моє намисто довжиною десь 112 см. Я лише раджу до того як кріпити застібку приміряти намисто, щоб визначити, де б хотілося, щоб співали твої пташки :-)

Skirt аka Pants :-)

Your attitude to this kind of clothes can easily define you as being an optimist or a pessimist exactly like that test with half-full/empty glass. The optimist will say the skirt-pants are very practical two things in one and the pessimist's opinion - it is neither skirt nor pants at all:-)
As for me, creativity is a quite optimistic process because keeps both our mind and spirit in good condition and directs our thoughts to the future, not to the past so I profess the first opinion. But there's some pin in the... side, it is worth thinking if it is worth sewing such a thing. The point is in the length of the clothing because the shortened pants always make our legs visually shorter - and this is an opinion of a realist:-) So if you are a petite lady, make such a skirt a little longer than Italian mini (right knee-covered) and sew the pleats from the waist for several cm. For example, I am not very petite, ... an ideal height, just  a couple cm higher than Venus de Milo but anyway always sew such pleats to mask curvy hips... of course, I mean to emphasise a thin waist:-))
And now some words about fabric. Long ago I sewed such an outfit but of thick fabric for the off-season. By the way, at first it was long but then I yet shortened it to the Italian mini :-) It is summer now so thin soft light and not easily spoiled fabric is wanted... besides with floral print. And here our choice should prevent our skirt from a look of pyjamas so it is better to decide beforehand the way we'll pair our skirt-pants ( but we always do that, don't we?). I hope I am not mistaken with my choice... eventually if something goes wrong, I always can re-sew the pants in skirt:-)

Спідниця, і вона ж - штани :-)

Ставлення до цього виду одягу може бути тестом на оптимізм - песимізм, подібним до тесту про склянку з напоєм. Оптиміст скаже, що спідниця-штани - це дві речі в одній, а той, інший, що спідниця-штани - це ні те, ні се.
Як на мене, творчість - досить оптимістичне заняття, бо воно тримає людину весь час в тонусі і спрямовує думки на майбутнє, а не на минуле, тому я дотримуюсь першої точки зору. Але є тут одна скалка в боці - треба подумати, чи варто шити таку річ взагалі. Справа  в довжині виробу, бо вкорочені штанці - візуально вкорочують і ноги, і це вже погляд реаліста :-) Тобто, якщо ви - мініатюрна пані, робіть таку спідницю ледь довшою за італійське міні (прикриті коліна), а складки на талії  застрочить вниз хоча б на декілька сантиметрів. Я, наприклад, не дуже мініатюрна... маю ідеальний зріст... трохи вища за Венеру Мілоську, але все одно завжди застрочую таки складки ще і через округлі стегна.... тобто, щоб підкреслити талію :-))
Отже, тепер тканина. Колись давно я вже шила таку  спідницю, але з цупкої тканини на міжсезоння. До речі, спочатку вона була довгою, а потім я її таки вкоротила до італійського міні. :-) Зараз літо, тканину хочеться тонку м'яку немарку ї нежарку (рима?), а ще... з квітковим візерунком. І тут вибір має убезпечити нашу спідницю від вигляду піжами. Тож маємо вирішити, з чим ми ці штанці поєднуватимемо (хоча на те, "що, з чим і як носити" ми ж завжди зважаємо?). Сподіваюсь, що зі своїм вибором я не помилилась... зрештою, якщо щось буде не так, перешию на спідницю :-)

So this season Burda offers two patterns of culottes #126 from  issue 3/2015 and #114 from  issue 4/2015. I chose the first for my project just because it is wider at the bottom and reminds skirt much better.
For sewing I chose multi coloured rayon (viscose) staple. It is thin light soft and pleasant to the body fabric. Very well for hot summer.

Отже, цього року Burda пропонує дві моделі спідниці-штанів: №126 з журналу 3/2015 і №114 з 4/2015. Я обрала першу лише тому, що вона ширша по низу і більше нагадує спідницю.
Для пошиття я oбрала строкатий віскозний штапель. Це тонка легка м'яка приємна до тіла тканина, що гарно драпірується. Ідеальна тканина для спекотного літа.

My notes about the sewing concern the pockets and the pleats only.
1. The pleats I sewed by the  lines of alignment given on the paper pattern. On the wrong side it looks in this way.



Мої нотатки щодо пошиття стосуються кишень і складок.
1. Складки я застрочила по лініям суміщення. З вивороту це виглядає так.

2. Pockets. The first trick - I always make top stitches along the pocket bag of the back part and along the pocket entrance of the front part of the pants before sewing pocket bags together. I do it just because after washing the item with such kind of pockets it is easy to iron it.

2. Кишені. Перший  прийомчик - перед тим, як стачувати мішковини такої кишені, я завжди прокладаю оздоблювальну строчку вздовж мішковини задньої частини та вздовж входу до кишені передньої частини. Це набагато спрощує процес прасування речей з такими кишенями після прання.

3. The second trick - before sewing the pockets' bags together, baste the entrance to the pocket. In this way you will trim the edges of the bags evenly if during cutting or previous sewing you made some mistake and the bags differ in some way.




3. Другий прийомчик - перед тим як стачувати мішковини кишень, замітайте вхід до кишені. Таким чином можна вирівняти краї мішковин, якщо при розкрої або шитті сталася якась помилка і мішковини якимось чином відрізняються по формі.

And now the funniest part - pairing and matching! I used to knit and crochet pretty much  the previous years and have got few self-made tops... and it's hard to believe but most of them match the skirt-pants very well. So let's start playing:-)

А тепер справжня забава - підбираємо пари до спідниці. Я досить багато плела і гачком і на спицях в попередні роки, тому маю декілька саморобних топів, і хто б міг подумати, що майже всі вони чудово пасують до моїх штанців. Ну що ж, пограємось:-)

I didn't mind stopping right here but mum, who takes most all the pictures of me, said the fun is work, too, so we had to go on... Generally, this red top was next in turn to be #7. The pattern was taken here .



Я вже і не проти була зупинитись, але мама, яка і є мій найкращий фотограф, сказала, що розваги це теж робота, то продовжимо... Цей червоний топ просився стати №7. Модель тут .

What I can say... I have no idea how I could live without these skirt-pants and now it is obvious why I  made so many different tops: they surely found their perfect match...:-)
