My Needlecrafts Video Review #16

This is a new video from my sewing room devoted to the annual #SewAprilBlouse challenge. In the video, I'm  matching patterns and fabrics possible for sewing blouses. It's my third attempt to take part in this challenge; in the previous years, I finished my started project much later than in April. :-) But I like the idea of the challenge, consider the thematic videos very inspiring, and try to watch as many of them as I can. I enjoyed this process of matching, although not sure if I will sew any of the chosen garments. None of the mentioned fabrics is new; all of them have been in my stash for either a long or not too long time, so I would be happy to make at least one or two of those blouses at last :-) One more bonus, the fabrics are chosen as a perfect match for my new grey striped trousers. I haven't written a post about them yet, but tell about this pair in video #15 (video in Ukrainian). The main thing is not to have my trousers worn before I make any of the planned blouses :-)

Всі тканини і, відповідно, майбутні вироби добре підходять до моїх нових сірих смугастих штанів, допис про які я ще не зробила, але розповідаю детально у відео щоденнику №15. Головне, щоб штани не зносилися раніше ніж я пошию хоч двійко-трійко з тих блузок :-) 

Boucle Skirt

 

As yesterday we had a sudden snow storm which rarely happens here in winter and is absolutely not typical for April, I had to clean snow both before and after work so get tired and forgot to make a post yesterday despite the skirt  had been ready for a week and the photos were taken last weekend as well, and I did want to share the outcome as I am exciting about it :-) The skirt #119 Burda 12/2003 made of thick but soft boucle with almost velvet texture looks and feels heavy and solid. I am always happy getting the things exactly what they have been expected to be and this is a good examle of the case.

Оскільки вчора у нас була несподівана хуртовина яких тут і взимку рідко буває, а в квітні і поготів, то мені довелося і перед і після роботи чистити сніг, тож я втомилася і забула створити допис. Хоча спідниця вже тиждень як готова і фото зробили ще на минулих вихідних, і мені справді хотілося поділитися тим, що вийшло, тому що я в захваті від цієї нової роботи :-) Спідницю 119 Burda 12/2003 пошито з товстого проте м'якого букле з майже оксамитовою текстурою, виглядає вона відповідно важкою і солідною. Коли отримуєш речі саме такими як і очикуєш - це задоволення, і ця робота - гарний тому приклад.

I lengthened the skirt for about 6 cm as the fabric is thick and in this way the garment looks better. It also creates right proportions and gives more possibilities for combinations with tops in different sizes and shapes.

Спідницю подовжила на 6 см оскільки тканина товста і це моделі на користь. До того ж так створюються кращі пропорції і з'являється більше можливостей для комбінування з верхом різних форм і об'ємів.

All the parts of the skirt were reinforced with stretch interfacing. The bottom I evened after the skirt was hanging a night and, as it seen in the photo, it was right as central bottom parts bias cut. In this video it was shown how I did it (video in Ukrainian but how to do it is clear). 

The skirt is lined, the lining is for 4 cm shorter than the skirt.

Всі частини спідниці зміцнені трикотажної прокладкою. Низ вирівняла після того як спідниця ніч провисіла і, як це видно на фото, це було правильно, оскільки центральні нижні частини покроєні навскіс. В цьому відео показано як це робилося. 

Спідниця на підкладці, підкладка на 4 см коротша за спідницю.

Here I paired the skirt with my Dolman Sequin Blouse, actually, it was meant to be from the beginning but the items were not finished at the same time :-) In the previous post you can see the skirt combined with a velvet top, looks not bad either :-)

Тут я поєднала спідницю з моєю блузою в лелітки, взагалі, вони були одразу призначені одне одному, але не були пошиті водночас :-) В попередньому дописі можна побачити як блузка комбінується з оксамитовою блузкою, виглядає теж непогано :-)

Tear Drop Hole Velvet Blouse

 

Finally, here I came with my new velvet blouse made almost a month ago but, as before the last Sunday I had no suitable bottom to match, the photos of me wearing it were taken only yesterday. Having finished the sewing, I shared my impressions both about the process of making and wearing the garment in a couple of videos (videos in Ukrainian), for example, here, so now I'm going to generalize all the experience in short. The model is #115 from Burda 12/2019 ( almost the same pattern is #118 from Burda 11/2022, and Burda #6159 contains them both). I used the first of the mentioned but, actually, after seeing the blouse #6159A on our site burdastyle.ua I decided to make this very pattern because it's shown in pale peach colour and made me think it would look as well in pale lilac.

Оксамитова блузка з вирізом-крапелькою 

Ось я нарешті тут з моєю новою блузкою пошитою майже місяць тому, але, оскільки до минулої неділі у мене було гожого низу до блузки, фото-звіт зробили лише вчора. Закінчивши роботу над вбранням я вже ділилася враженнями і про пошиття і про носіння блузки в декількох відео, наприклад, тут, тож тепер "коротенько" (хвилин на 40) збираюся узагальнити досвід. Модель 115 з Burda 12/2019 (в основному така сама модель 118 з Burda 11/2022, і Burda 6159 вміщує обидва варіанти). Я користувалася першою викрійкою зі згаданих, але насправді вирішила шити саме таку блузку побачивши модель 6159А на нашому сайті burdastyle.ua, оскільки вона демонструється в блідо персиковому кольорі тож я подумала, що в блідо-бузковому теж виглядатиме добре.

In general, I am glad I chose this model for velvet but there was no need to make the blouse so wide, I use size 44 because of my paranoia that next year the garment will be small thus I made it as the magazine suggests and even added a couple more centimeters along the bust line. I also think for my figure the blouse needs at least slight fitting on the side seams, 2-3 cm along the waist. Both of these changes would make it look neater despite the blouse is quite comfortable as it is.

Загалом, мені подобається мій вибір для оксамиту, але не було потреби робити блузку настільки широкою, шила розмір 44 через мою паранойу, що наступного року вбрання буде на мене мале, тож пошила так як пропонує журнал та ще і додала по лінії грудей пару сантиметрів. Також думаю, що для моєї фігури варто було б блузку трохи приталити по бокових швах на 2-3 см по лінії талії. Такі зміни створили б охайніший вигляд, хоча така як вона є, блузка доволі затишна і зручна.

While sewing, I had some moments of despair because made a mistake when cutting the blouse but must admit that this kind of velvet was surprisingly easy to work with comparing with those I used before. 

The sleeves facing I sewed on the right side of te sleeves, it made finished look, as for me. Both sleeves and bodice hems are processed with hands. I also think the hem of bodice probably had to be processed in different way because while wearing the blouse it rolled up to the bust so I had to tuck the blouse not in the skirt but into tights as my friend advised, to have it on the spot after taking off the coat.

Поки шила, через мою помилку під час розкрою хвилини відчаю мене не оминули, але маю відмітити, що цей вид оксамиту напрочуд легкий в роботі в порівнянні з тими, з якими мала справу раніше. 

Обшивку рукавів пришила на лицьову сторону, як на мене, так вони виглядають краще закінченими. І обшивки і низ блузки підшиті вручну. Також думаю, що них блузки треба було обробити якось по іншому, тому що під час носіння блузка скручується під самі груди, тож, за порадою подруги заправляла блузку не в спідницю, а в колготи, щоб утримати її на місці після того, як знімала пальто.

I wore the blouse already but it was paired surely wrong with this Belt Skirt #116 Burda 10/2022 (or #5868). In the photos here the blouse is combined with a new boucle skirt; the details about it are planned to be in the next post. The outfit is completed with Fancy Flower brooch and Moon Lantern bracelet and earrings. However, for the better proportions it would be better to put on a kind of choker necklace which pattern I am thinking over already :-) 

Блузку я вже носила, але це було поганеньке поєднання з цією спідницею з паском 116 Burda 10/2022 (або #5868). Тут на фото вона скомбінована з новою спідницею з букле, про яку планую розповісти в наступному дописі. Вбрання доповнене брошкою "Вигадлива квітка" та набором "Місячний ліхтарик". Проте, для кращих пропорцій варто було б надягнути намисто типу чокер, ідею якого я вже обмірковую :-)

Fancy Flower

 

This new flower is very decorative and fancy. I made a brooch of it but, actually, there is no any indicaion of what it meant to be in the kit from Charivna Myt. 

Вигадлива квітка

Ця  нова квітка дуже декоративна і вигадлива. Я з неї зробила брошку, але в наборі від "Чарівної миті" для її виготовлення, жодних вказівок для чого вона призначена немає. 

The process was new for me as I'd never used this kind of technics before. Honestly I enjoyed it and the beading was quite quick. It also could be even quicker if I were less self-confident and more attentive but, fortunately, the final outcome wasn't influenced by the quality of my attention :-)

Процес для мене був новий, оскільки раніше я такою технікою не користувалася. Мені сподобалося і плетіння виявилося дуже швидким. А могло би бути ще швидшим якби я була менш самовпевненою і більш уважною, але до кінцевого результату особливості моєї уваги стосунку не мають :-)

To make a brooch I attached the petals to the brooch base. Alike process I used for making  my Chrysanthemum Brooch many years ago. The ready piece is quite heavy so I guess if I ever wear it, it would be an accessory for a jacket or a coat. I also can imagine it as a focal part for a choker.

Для виготовлення брошки пришила пелюстки до основи броши. Схожу техніку колись застосовувала для виготовлення моєї брошки "Хризантема" багато років тому. Готова прикраса доволі важкенька, тож думаю, якщо колись її надягатиму, то це буде аксесуар для жакета або пальта.  Також можу уявити її як декор для чокеру.

Протягом декількох тижнів мені все ж таки вдалося нашкребсти сюжетів на новий випуск новин з майстерні. Він розповідає про прогрес у плетінні кардигану, посування в пошитті оксамитової блузки 128 з Burda 12/2019 і невеличкого огляду нових запасів тканин, який тут єдина радісна новина :-)

Paisley Knit Dress

A simple dress  made of jacquard weaving knit and paisley print. Paisley is one of my favourite fabric patterns although being a teenager I really hated it, then it seemed to be only for old ladies :-) How stupid, or rather shortsighted, I was, who is old lady here!? :-)  

To make a dress I used a new for me pattern from our Ukrainian big fabric store TK (Tekstyl Contakt), I found it occasionally and wanted to give it a chance as they have some more models thus I wanted to check if their patterns would work for me not to spend even not big money in vain. This one did :-)

Трикотажна сукня "Пейслі" 

Проста сукня з трикотажу жакардового переплетіння і візерунком пейслі. Пейслі - один з моїх найулюбленіших візерунків хоча в юнацькі роки я його терпіти не могла, тоді він здавався для  старечих пані :-) Якою ж я була дурною, тобто, недалекоглядною. Хто ж тут стареча пані!? :-) Для пошиття я взяла нову для себе викрійку від нашого великого продавця тканин ТК (Текстиль Контакт), я випадково на неї натрапила і вирішила дати їй шанс: у них є ще моделі і мені хотілося перевірити чи для мене вони спрацюють, щоб марно не витрачати, хоча і невеликі, проте все ж таки гроші. Ця - спрацювала :-)

What I didn't like about the pattern, you get only one size, L in my case. It is a simple pattern so it's easy to modify it.  But if the model was more complicated,  transferring from size to size for better individual fitting would be not so easy. I shortened my dress and, not to make side slits, decided to widen it along the bottom for about 3-5 cm. What I liked a lot is the fitting which is perfect having in mind my bust and absents of darts. The pattern can be used a sloper indeed.

Що мені не сподобалося в викрійці, ти отримуєш лише один розмір, в моєму випадку L. Це проста модель, тому її дуже легко змінити, але якби модель була б складнішою, переходи від розміру до розміру для кращої посадки не були б таким простими. Я свою сукню вкоротила і, щоб не робити розрізів по боках, вирішила розширити вздовж низу на приблизно 3-5 см. Що мені надзвичайно сподобалося - це посадка яка, без сумніву, чудова і це при моєму бюсті і відсутності виточек. Викрійку можна використовувати як основу.

I omitted back centre zipper, I cut the back folded, and to put the garment on made a short cut along the back centr line which I reinforced with a stripe of interfacing and then processed with  binding. The collar is soft without interfacing.

Від блискавки в середньому шві відмовилася, я його і не робила, спинку викроїла зі згином, а щоб одягати сукню, зробила по центру спинки невеличкий розріз, зміцнила його і обробила бейкою.

To complete the outfit I chose Colour of the Rain earrings and made a new pair Crystal Chandelier. I also mentioned work on this dress in a couple of my videos (video in Ukrainian).

Щоб завершити вбрання обрала сережки "Колір дощу" та зробила нову пару з підвісками з кристалів. Також про роботу над сукнею я згадувала в одному-двох моїх відео.

Crystal Chandelier Earrings

I had a wish to make such kind of earrings for quite long and even used to buy a couple of connectors as a base for hanging the dangles but did them only today. This pair was inspired by my new dress sewed of jersey with paisley design. Besides, occasionally I managed to buy the connector which I imagined when thinking over stringing this piece of jewellery. 

It's not too hard to feel yourself a designer when you have enough free time and right materials to create what you want :-)

Сережки з підвісками з кристалів

Мені давно хотілося зробити такого типу сережки і навіть колись купила пару конекторів для основи, але вдалося зробити їх лише сьогодні. На цю пару надихнуло пошиття нової сукні з трикотажу з візерунком пейслі. Крім того, випадково мені вдалося купити саме такий конектор, який я уявляла обмірковуючи нанизування таких сережок. 

Не так вже і важко відчувати себе дизайнером, коли маєш достатньо вільного часу і відповідні матеріали, щоб зробити те, що хочеться :-)

Pysanka Sweatshirt Dress

I made this dress #105 from Burda 9/2019, or PDF #6180, very quickly, for just a few hours. Maybe because I was happy with me managing to cut the garment the way I wanted as the pattern corresponded the fabric, dense soft well stretching cotton knit, and the main factor, its beautiful print, exactly as it had been expected. As for the person, who has never worn sweatshirt dresses, and, actually, disliked them, I guess I made a good job and look  and feel pretty well in my new garment :-)

Сукня-світшот "Писанка"

Цю сукню #105 з Burda 9/2019, або PDF #6180, пошила дуже швидко, фактично за декілька годин. Можливо через задоволення, що вдалося покроїти вбрання саме так я хотіла, бо модель відповідає тканині, щільному, м'якому, еластичному бавовняному трикотажу, та, найголовніше, його прекрасному візерунку, саме так як і очікувалося. Як для людини, яка ніколи не носила сукні-світшоти і, до того ж, якій вони ніколи не подобалися, я зробила гарну роботу і виглядаю і почуваюся в цьому моєму новому вбранні доволі добре :-)

I made the dress a little longer to cover the knees and the stripe of tights between the dress hem and the high boots. I also shortened the neckband for about 5 cm as the detail given in the magazine seemed to be too long to make of this specific fabric and I thought it would be wavy and not fitting especially after washing the garment. The hem allowance was reinforced with thin knit interfacing before hemming the dress.

Сукню я трохи подовжила, щоб закривала коліна та смужку колготок між низом сукні та верхом чобіт. Також вкоротила бейку горловини десь на 5 см, оскільки деталь в журналі саме для цієї тканини була надто довгою і в готовому вигляді горловина пішла б хвилею і не прилягала б, особливо після прання. Припуск на підгинку низу зміцнила тонкою трикотажною прокладкою перед обробкою.

In this video I am telling how I tried to match some piece of jewellery to complete the outfit and finally chose this twist peyote rope.

В цьому відео я розповідаю як намагалася підібрати якусь прикрасу щоб завершити вбрання і, зрештою, обрала джгут "Ромби".

When I put the dress on, I only had good emotions and the print pattern remined me pysanka (Ukrainian Easter painted egg) that's why I called it in that way.

Коли я одягнула сукню, у мене були лише приємні емоції, а візерунок нагадав розпис писанки, тож так я її і назвала.

My Needlecrafts Video Review #9

Unexpectedly, I've got some news from my crafts room :-)The video is in Ukrainian. It tells about reviving an old bead embroidery project which will become a piece of decor some day, at least I hope for it. I'm also telling a little about my new dress and my matching the jewelry to complete the outfit. At the end a couple of words about cutting a new skirt of a kind of boucle fabric.

Red Jersey Shift Dress

 

The dress #128 from Burda 12/2023 caught my eye from the first sight, I also at once was sure I would make it red thus chose this fabric, dense red jersey, which either was in my stash at that moment or I bought it purposely, now don't remember exactly. As for me, it matched perfectly although the fabric is almost not stretchy despite its type.  I mentioned my work on this dress several times in my video reviews and at last have a chance to share my outcome. The reason why it was on my sewing table so long is still a mystery for me but it as it is. Telling the true, at first I was not 100% happy with the result but after every time when wearing it I see it fits better and some day I will look in it as gorgeous as I expect :-)

Червона трикотажна сукня-футляр

Сукня #128 з Burda 12/2023 з першого погляду привернула мою увагу і так само я одразу вирішила, шо шитиму її в червоному кольорі, тож обрала цю тканину, щільний червоний джерсі, який чи то вже був на той момент в моїх запасах чи я спеціально для цього купила, вже точно не пам'ятаю. Як на мене, вона чудова підійшла, хоча, незавжаючи на її тип, майже не тягнеться. Роботу над цією сукнею я декілька разів згадувала в своїх відео і нарешті розміщую її тут. Причина чому вбрання було так довго у мене на столі для мене все ще загадка, але вже є як є. Правду кажучи, спочатку я не була задоволена результатом на 100%, але з кожним одяганням, бачу, що вона сидить на мене краще і колись виглядатиме саме так як я очікую :-)

While cutting the dress I applied some changes, I added the short video in this collage (not to listen to it, click the stop). Besides, I lengthened the dress for about 7 cm as well as the sleeves to have them long as the dress is quite warm. 

Поки кроїла внесла дякі зміни у викрійку, додала коротке відео в цей колаж (щоб його не слухати, натискаємо на стоп). Кріи того, сукню подовжила десь на 7 см, так само і рукав зробила довгим, тому що тканина доволі тепла.

The real colour of the dress is the closest on the photo with fabric with arranged paper details.

Справжній колір тканини найближчий на фото з тканиною з розкладеними паперовими деталями.

I have already mentioned this blouse in two short videos, here and here (videos in Ukrainian), so now want to share how I look in it. And І do look and feel very well :-) To make this simple fancy garment I chose model #126 from Burda 1/2024 which matched perfectly soft black velvet decorated with purple sequins. 

Блузка в леліткі з рукавами кімоно 

Я вже згадувала про цю блузку в коротких відео, тут і тут, тож зараз хочу поділитися тим як я в ній виглядаю. А виглядаю і почуваюся дуже добре :-) Для пошиття цього простого але нарядного вбрання я обрала модель #126 з Burda 1/2024 для якої чудово підійшов м'який чорний оксамит розшитий фіолетовими лілетками.

The sequins are very soft so I didn't have to rip them out of the seams and sew then back again. I sewed the fabric in usual way but instead of using overlocker to overstitch the edges, used zigzag stitch.

Лілеткі дуже м'яки тож мені не довелося випoрювати їх зі швів, а потім пришивати назад. Шила як звичайну тканину, але замість використання оверлоку, обметала зрізи зігзагом.

Both sleeves and bodice are hemmed by hands, it was a quick and easy way to make it neat. 

I already  wore the blouse pairing it with my universal indispensable Jersey Green Skirt. Honestly, I have no idea how I could live without it before and what I would wear not having it in my wardrobe as it seems to match whatever :-)

Низ рукавів і блузки підшиті вручну. В цей спосіб це вийшло швидко легко і охайно. 

Я вже одягала блузку поєднавши з моєю універсальною незамінною Зеленою трикотажною спідницею. Чесно сказати, не уявляю як могла раніше без неї обходитися і, тим більше, не маю жодного уявлення щоб я носила, якби у мене в гардеробі її не було, адже вона, видається, комбінується будь з чим :-)

My Needlecrafts Video Review #6

I wish I could share a new ready project, and I also thought over making a generalizing post about my 2024 projects as I enjoy watching this kind of videos and it encourages me to make my own. However, not sure I will be that industrious so  my this year first post is devoted to the video review and I'm glad I still have what to tell about at least briefly :-)

Хотілося б поділитися новим готовим проектом і також я розмірковувала про допис який би узагальнював мої роботи за 2024 рік, оскільки мені подобається переглядати такі відео і вони надихають на те щоб зробити подібне ж власне. Проте не впевнена, що буду аж така працьовита, тож перший допис цього року  присвячений відео огляду і я радію, що, хоча б і коротко, але все ж таки маю про що розповісти :-)
