About Me
- Oksana Starzhynska
- My blog's main subjects are sewing, the thing in which I am experienced the most, and beadwork, which is, in fact, pushed me into blogging. I am also engaged in knitting and crocheting. All together they are the set of skills which I use to make my wardrobe my whole life. These are not my only interests, I also like the English language (that's one of the reasons that my blog is bilingual), try to travel around my country and abroad (when can afford it), am interested in art (to the degree of a dilettante but nevertheless) and adore the people who can create anything beautiful or useful whatever it is :-) So welcome to a needlecrafter diary!

Crocheted Necklace, or Fantasy on the Yarn Remnants Theme
It is a quick and nice project to get rid of working days tiredness, to use the yarn remnants, to distract from a big project, which will be ended nobody knows when, and just to make something different to diversify the day. As you see, there are enough reasons to devote an evening to making such a necklace.
I cast on a sweater about a week ago and thought at once about some accessory for it because it is being knitted of very bright, colourful yarn. I am still making the sweater's back but I already have a necklace to complete the future image:-)
The sweater will be pretty thick so for my accessory, I chose big beads of different sizes to crochet. I used to make alike necklace but this time wanted to create something bulky indeed, so crocheted the beads with thick yarn and got quite rough pieces.
After the beads are ready, all what to do is to string them on the jewellery wire in any order you like. But when I did it, I realised the lack of some zest. So decided to add one more element and the best variant turned out to be a crocheted flower.
To make a rose, the remnants of mohair were used so the flower is very light and furry.
After the flower was ready, it was sewed to the upper bead. Sew in the circle around the bead, start with the widest part on the back of the bead. Finish on the front of the bead.
The string part of the necklace was joined to the pieces of lace. I knotted them to have a chance to change the necklace's length.
