Capri Blue Earrings

A quick project. Capri Blue is the name of the colour of the used for these earrings bicones. I haven't been to Capri but I surely saw many other sea places so, because of my present mood, devote the project to all of them :-)

Сережки "Capri Blue" 

Швидкий проект. "Capri Blue" - назва кольору біконусів використаних для нанизування цих сережок. На Капрі не була, але я вже точно бачила багато інших морських місцин, тож, через мій поточний настрій, присвячую проект їм всім :-)

The earrings are made by the Bahamian Waters Necklace from Wendy Lueder from Beadwork February/March 2013. I made only one motif by the designer's advice about making the earrings. I like the outcome and, if I ever have the same materials, I will bead the corresponding pendant with pleasure. What I did wrong - the 3 mm pearls didn't fit right with their holes to the 8 mm pearls' holes so the thread is seen. But it didn't spoil my mood and I am going to wear the earrings anyway :-)

Сережки виконано за зразком "Bahamian Waters Necklace" від Wendy Lueder з Beadwork February/March 2013. Я зробила лише один мотив за порадою дизайнера щодо сережок. Мені подобається результат, якщо у мене колись будуть такі самі матеріали, я із задоволенням сплету ще і відповідний кулон. Що у мене не вийшло - 3 мм перлини не лягли своїми отворами до отворів 8 мм перлин і тому видно нитку. Але настрій мені це не зіпсувало, все одно буду носити ці сережки :-)

Colour Block Brioche Super Scarf

It is knitting time again and, despite the season is not over yet, I have already got a new scarf :-) It was not difficult to knit but took some time to make - two weeks. There was none source of inspiration for making it but wish to wrap oneself into something soft and cosy and rejoice in diversity of colours. As for the latter I have some consideration, though... I could never understand why when it is getting colder, the weather stops being pleasant and the nature loses colours, people prefer wearing dark clothes. Crowds of us, worn in black grey brown & Co look not lively. And surely observing that doesn't add cheerfulness to the daily routine. So, to some degree, this my project is my investment into the idea of painting the cold and gloomy winter world :-) On my Ravelry profile I have a pile of favourite models with the tag #technique. There are many of them which I've never tried but hope to do one day so this scarf became an excellent chance and practice to learn a new kind of knitting for me. I guess I can say I posess it now well enough:-) The outcome is quite awesome, isn't it? 

Шарф  у техніці бріош "Кольорові блоки"

Знову настав час плетіння, і хоча сезон ще не закінчився, у мене вже є новий шарф:-) Плести було не важко, але трохи часу зайняло - два тижні. Жодних джерел натхнення, крім бажання загорнутися у щось м'якеньке і затишне та порадувати себе розмаїттям кольорів, не було. Хоча, щодо останнього, у мене є деякі міркування... Ніколи не могла зрозуміти, чому, коли стає холодніше, погода припиняє бути приємною, а природа втрачає фарби, люди надають перевагу темним кольорам. Натовпи нас, одягнутих у чорне, темно-сіре, коричневе і таке подібне, не виглядають аж надто життєрадісно. І це вже напевно, не додає бадьорості  щоденній рутині. Тож, до певної міри, цей проект - мій вклад у розфарбовування холодного і похмурого світу зими :-) На сайті Ravelry у мене є купа вподобаних моделей з маркуванням #technique. Технік, яких я ніколи не пробувала, але сподіваюся хоч колись освоїти, там багатенько, тож цей шарф став ще і прекрасною нагодою навчитися плести і оволодіти новим для мене видом плетіння. Думаю, можна вважати, що попрактикувалася доволі добре:-) Результат чудовий, чи не так ?

The idea and the model was taken on Drops design site. The technique has at least two names: brioche and, more clear and known for me since childhood, English ribs. 

Ідею і модель було запозичено на Drops design site. Техніка має щонайменше дві назви: бріош і, більш зрозуміла і знайома мені з дитинства, англійскі реберця ("резинка"). 

I've never tried it before despite knowing about it since started knitting. So at first I had to learn. The tutorials for both kinds (mono and two-coloured) techniques can be found on the same page with the scarf pattern. I took big knitting needles and made a sample, cannot say it was perfect from the first try as well as from the second:-) 

Ніколи не пробувала її, хоча і знаю про неї з того часу, як почала плести. Тож спочатку довелося навчитися. Майстер класи для обох видів техніки (одно- і двокольорової) знаходяться на тій самій сторінці, що і модель. я взяла великі спиці і зробила зразок, не можу сказати, що він був досконалий з першого разу, так само як і з другого.

The scarf itself was knitted with knitting needles 4.5. While knitting I also find the own way to define the colour of the next row. At first, I tried to put off my work only when both threads were on the same side, then the advice to start with the colour different from the edge stitch worked indeed. But then I saw that the last row always has two one after another stitches of the same colour so the next one must be knitted with the other. 

Сам шарф сплетений на спицях № 4,5. Поки плела, також винайшла власний спосіб визначати колір наступного ряду. Спочатку намагалася відкладати роботу лише коли обидві нитки були з одного боку, тоді порада починати з кольору протилежного крайній петлі спрацьовувала. Але потім зрозуміла, що останній ряд має завжди дві підряд петлі одного кольору, тож наступний треба плести протилежним.

The size of my scarf is 2.85 m x 32 cm (if to stretch 38 cm). I also cannot but thank Eva Maria Keiser Designs who knows everything about colour combinations :-)

Flared Trousers, or Universal Match

Light summer trousers are a necessary attribute of any wardrobe. Especially when it is the end of September, that is the very time to think about winter clothes:-) I have just noticed that a quite odd tradition was established in my sewing studio: all my summer trousers are being made in autumn. In fact, in the time when I don't need them at all. This autumn is not an exception. So why not? Let live the tradition :-) Except practical importance to keep oneself cool and comfortable in hot weather, such trousers always save us from one very annoying question. This question appears in the moment when you are putting on a new blouse/top/shirt and suddenly it turns out that it matches nothing in the wardrobe. Especially it annoys when is asked by anybody but yourself :-) It was exactly the situation after this blouse was sewed. To tell the true, by that moment I had had the piece of awesome light grey stretch cotton in my stash to make this kind of pants but I wasn't going to make them then. On the other hand, to sew whatever is always better than not to sew or postpone the process. And thus the trousers became the quick answer to my mom's question, "What are you going to pair this blouse with?" 

Штани-кльош, або Універсальний партнер

Легкі літні штани - необхідний атрибут будь якого гардеробу. Особливо коли на дворі кінець вересня і саме час подумати про зимовий одяг:-) Щойно помітила, що доволі дивна традиція встановилася в моїй майстерні: всі мої літні штани шиються восени. Фактично, коли вони мені геть непотрібні. Ця осінь - не виключення. Тож чому ні? Хай живе традиція :-) Крім практичної важливості почуватися комфортно та запобігати перегріванню у спеку, такі штани завжди рятують нас від одного дуже дошкульного питання. Це питання з'являється, коли ти вдягаєш нову блузку/топ/сорочку, милуєшся собою у дзеркалі і раптом з'ясовується, що блузка ні до чого в гардеробі не пасує. І надзвичайно це питання дратує, коли його задає хтось ще крім тебе :-) Саме так і трапилося після пошиття цієї блузки. По правді, у мене був у запасі відріз красивої світло сірої бавовни з еластаном на подібні штани, але я не збиралася робити їх зараз. З іншого боку, щось шити завжди краще ніж не шити чи відкладати. Ось так ці штани стали швидкою відповіддю на мамине питання: "З чим ти цю блузку одягатимеш?"

If the time of the trousers' sewing wasn't defined at once, the pattern was chosen as soon as I saw model #103 from Burda 9/2019. It is my favourite widening to the hem of the pants silhouette. As the fabric is thin, I made them one size bigger to avoid  much tightening. That's why they sit a little lower than waist. Maybe it wasn't the super idea but it is much better than to have all the not perfect curves too relief. 

Here the trousers are paired with an old T-shirt #105 from Burda7/2007, and much older blouse #120 from Burda 3/2001 and  Tubular Chenille Stitch and  Helix Spiral ropes.     

Якщо час пошиву штанів не був одразу визначений, фасон я обрала, щойно побачила модель 103 з Burda 9/2019. Це мій улюблений силует зі штанинами, що розширюються до низу. Оскільки тканина у мене тонка, пошила їх на розмір більше, щоб не обтягували те, що не треба. Тому вони сидять нижче талії. Може, це була і не суперідея, але так краще, ніж занадто підкреслені недосконалості фігури.  

Тут штани поєднано зі старою футболкою #105 з Burda7/2007 і з набагато старішою блузкою #120 з Burda 3/2001 та джгутами Tubular Chenille Stitch і Helix Spiral .

As I am not tall, I yet make the trousers longer for 10 cm. But I saved the width of the model. It would differ for about 2 cm overall but nevertheless, I decided not to widen them.

Оскільки я не висока, я все ж таки подовжила штани на 10 см. Але ширину залишила як для вкороченої моделі. Різниця була б десь 2 см, але все одно вирішила не розширювати.

The process of the sewing is usual. At first I always insert a zipper. It is just a habit that seems to be comfortable.

Процес пошиття звичайний. Спочатку завжди вшиваю "блискавку". Це лише звичка, яка видається зручною.

This time I even didn't ignore the shortening of the zipper :-) 

Цього разу я навіть не проігнорувала укорочення "блискавки":-)

Blouse with Pleat, or Naples & Pepper

In Naples a tourist is always in a company of Vesuvius that attracts the eye all the time there :-) As soon as we stopped at some viewpoint to admire its magic over the Gulf of Naples, two men with trolleys appeared from nowhere and recommended to buy a local souvenir - an imitation of a chili pepper. Immediately it became known that chili pepper is a symbol of Naples. Actually, a red horn is the symbol but chili pepper replaces it successfully:-) As I had no impressions about the city at that moment, I ignored the offer. Then we knew that the central part of the city together with the embankment were closed because of preparing to international completions, thus our visit was comparatively short. Me and my friend probably saw all main landmarks of Naples and its unbelievable Gulf with huge cruise liners, (at that moment there was the world's biggest one among few others!) and a piece of Naples' slums as well but I felt the lack of wandering to define the spirit of the place. Therefore I needed a souvenir. To pay 1 euro for a Chinese fake was too much and to buy something authentic was too expensive so I decided to make such a souvenir myself. I like the idea of chili pepper as means to scare bad stuff, besides, we have the same tradition in Ukraine: the only difference - one chili pepper is not enough, we use the whole bunch of them :-)

In this way, the blouse and the necklace became a wonderful reminding of that beautiful day in the company of Vesuvius over the Gulf of Naples :-)

Блузка зі складкою, або Неаполь і перець

В Неаполі туриста завжди супроводжує Везувій який повсякчас притягує погляд. Щойно ми зупинилися на оглядовому майданчику, щоб насолодитися його величчю над Неаполітанською затокою, як нізвідки з'явилися двоє чоловіків з візками і запропонували купити місцевий сувенір - імітацію перцю чилі. Одразу ж стало відомо, що це - символ Неаполю. Насправді, червоний ріг - символ, але перець чилі його успішно заміщає:-) Оскільки на той момент вражень про місто ще не було, то пропозиція не зацікавила. Потім ми дізналися, що центральну частину міста разом з набережною перекрито через підготовку до міжнародних змагань і візит наш буде порівняно короткий. Ми з подругою, мабуть, побачили всі головні принади Неаполю та його неймовірну затоку з величезними круїзними лайнерами (і серед них найбільший в світі саме був тоді там!) і шматочок неаполітанських нетрів, але, щоб визначити дух міста, блукання не вистачило. Тож без сувеніру було не обійтися. Платити євро за китайську підробку було забагато, а купувати щось автентичне - задорого, так я і вирішила створити сувенір самотужки. Мені подобається ідея перцю як засобу відганяти погані речі, до того ж в Україні ми маємо таку саму традицію: тільки одного перцю не досить - нам потрібна ціла зв'язка :-) 

Ось так ця блузка та намисто стали чудовим нагадуванням про той прекрасний день в компанії Везувію:-)

I didn't think a lot about the blouse's pattern. Firstly, I didn't have much fabric, secondly, I wanted to avoid models with buttons  and button holes, collars and plackets. This #106 from Burda 12/2018, or Burda PDF #6278, is nice enough, it is loose and its pleats in the front, back and on the sleeves add some extra softness. A good choice for silk.

Я не довго розмірковувала про модель блузки. По-перше, у мене не було багато тканини, по-друге, хотіла уникнути моделей з ґудзиками та прорізними петлями, комірами та планками. Ця блузка 106 з Burda 12/2018, або Burda PDF 6278, достатньо гарна, вона вільна, складки по переду, спинці та рукавах утворюють якусь додаткову м'якість. Гарний вибір для шовку.

The blouse has a tutorial in the magazine and I tried to follow it. But failed from the first try to make the front pleat.  So then at first I only stitched the corner and after that fold the pleat by the check lines and stitched it on the right side only.

В журналі поданий майстер клас з пошиву цієї блузки і я намагалася йому слідувати, але у мене нічого не вийшло зї складкою переду. Тому потім я просто обтачала куток, після цього заклала складку по лініям і настрочила лише по лицевій стороні.

As the fabric is thin, instead of overlocking the edge of the facing is hemmed. 

I stitched the yoke on the back by sewing machine. 

Оскільки тканина тонка, замість обметування край обшивки підшитий. 

Також, кокетку по спинці я притачала на машинці

Chili Peppers Necklace

I used to boast with my pieces of jewellery made of souvenirs. They are this Peacock feather Necklace and this Coin Pendant. But this time I am going to tell about the item that was made because I didn't buy the souvenir in time so had to make it myself :-)

Намисто "Перчинки"

Я вже якось хизувалася своїми прикрасами, виготовленими з сувенірів. Йшлося про це намисто "Перо павича" та про кулон "Монета". Цього разу збираюся розповісти про прикрасу, яку зроблено, тому що я вчасно такий сувенір не купила, тож довелося робити його самій :-)

My plan was to make a necklace with a pepper pendant to match the blouse and support the symbolism of the pepper:-) I bought two handmade glass pepper beads and then had to think about the rope. One of the most interesting for me beading tutorials are those by sapphirus. She makes a lot of very delicate things of simple materials and her ropes and chains are great so to hang my peppers I chose this one. The only thing I changed - the way of sewing the clasp. I think lobster clasps are not very reliable so I preferred to add it with the chance to change if it is broken.

План був зробити намисто з кулоном-перчинкою, що пасувало б до блузки  і підтримало б символізм перцю:-) Я купила дві зроблені вручну скляні намистини у вигляді перців і мала подумати про джгут. Один з найбільш цікавих для мене майстер класів з плетіння робить sapphirus. У неї багато дуже делікатних виробів з простих матеріалів і її джгути та ланцюжки чудові, тож, щоб підвісити мої перчинки, я обрала цей. Єдине, що я змінила - спосіб пришивання застібки. Ці застібки лобстери здаються мені ненадійними, тож я її приєднала так, щоб можна було замінити, якщо зламається.

Next step - to add the loops to the pepper beads. The most important thing here not to forget to lock the seed beads rings at once as a chain as they have no opens as well as the peppers, by the way:-) I made the loops by the sample of the rope but started with 20 seed beads instead of 16. 

Наступний крок - додати петлі до намистин перчинок. Тут головне - не забути замикати бісерні кільця одразу як ланцюжок, бо вони не мають отворів, як і перчинки, до речі:-) Петлі я зробила за зразком джгута, але почала з 20 бісерин замість 16.

As for me, it  reminds pepper plant  not less than pepper itself :-) 

Як на мене, це схоже на кущ перцю навіть більше ніж сам перець :-)

Blue Roses Embroidered Blouse. Progress

I very rarely share the progress of my work. I only could remember few times when was telling about my knitting fights a couple of years ago. I think any work in progress is more important for the person who is engaged in it because reflects the development or improvement of a certain skill and the way and duration of process. But the outcome is more interesting for anybody anyway including the doer himself. Actually, whatever work we do, we do it for the result. This time I decided to follow my own work from the start as the project is very time consuming and I am surely very curios myself how long it will take me to make it. I started on the 8th of September and now the blouse looks like on the first picture.

Я дуже рідко ділюся поступовим прогресом моєї роботи. Змогла пригадати лише декілька дописів про мою боротьбу з плетінням спицями пару років тому. Думаю такий поступ більш важливий для людини, яка їм зайнята, тому що віддзеркалює розвиток або покращення якоїсь навички чи спосіб та тривалість процесу. А ось те, що з цього виходить, вже цікаво для всіх включно з виконавцем. Зрештою, чим би не займалися, ми працюємо на результат. Цього разу вирішила відслідковувати власну роботу з початку, оскільки проект потребує багато часу і мені самій надзвичайно цікаво, скільки ж я його витрачу. Розпочала 8 вересня і зараз блузка виглядає так, як на першому фото.

It is my first experience in working with ready paper patterns from our Ukrainian publishing house that specialises in needlecraft issues.

At first, all the details of the blouse must be embroidered and then sewed together so on the first day I cut the item's details. Those ones that must be embroidered are not cut in full, they are just marked on the fabric. To make the process of the embroidering easier, I use the special canvas sewed on the details. After the embroidery is ready, the canvas will be removed. This first step took me half a day.

Це мій перший досвід роботи з готовими викрійками від нашого українського видавця, який спеціалізується на рукотворних виданнях. 

Спочатку всі деталі блузки мають бути вишиті і лише потім зшиті разом, тож у перший день роботи я викроїла деталі цього предмету одягу. Ті, які мають бути вишиті, вирізані не повністю, лише розмічені на тканині. Щоб полегшити процес вишивання, я використовую спеціальну канву, нашиту на деталі. Коли вишивка буде готова, канву буде видалено.

Kimono Blouse, or Rome & Pineapples

On the second day of our staying at Rome me and my friend, stunned, astonished and full of awe and reverence after visiting Vatican, went for a walk along the Tiber to admire Rome bridges. Actually, we didn't think a lot where to go because whenever one goes from St Peter's Basilica, he is still in Rome :-) It was a random decision but the idea to go to the underground station in the Piazza di Spagna on foot was lucky indeed. It was a very pleasant stroll along the embankment with often stops to admire the views and take photos. As all the way was in the shadow of the trees, we didn't suffer from the heat reigned in the city on those days and met only several people - an awesome contrast with all main touristic locations! Until we got to the Piazza del Popolo, the temperature became less pitiless so we could enjoy the rest of the walk in the same mood of calm inside joy from the achieved dream to see all what we saw on that day including the Sistine Chapel. About those impressions even isn't easy to talk because you cannot find the right words to express them. For me such a state of mind means that real feelings are saved and nursed so I like  to be in that mood... Well, let's stick to the point :-) Thus in some street we drop in a cafe to have a rest and snack. Chosen fruit salads were mixes of tasteless strawberries, kiwifruit (which I don't like), sweet juicy melon and pineapples. Before I didn't know I wanted pineapples so much so I ate one more portion only of them  and it turned out to be the perfect finish of that day :-)

Блузка кімоно, або Рим та ананаси

На другий день перебування у Римі ми з подругою приголомшені, зачудовані та сповнені благоговіння та трепету після відвідування Ватикану, пішли на прогулянку уздовж Тибру подивитися римські мости. Ми недовго думали де б піти, тому що, куди б ти не звернув від Базиліки Св. Петра, все одно залишатимешся у Римі:-) Рішення було випадковим, але ідея дістатися пішки до метро на площі Іспанії - вдалою. Це була дуже приємна прогулянка уздовж набережної з частими зупинками на милування міськими пейзажами та фотографування. Оскільки весь шлях пролягав у тіні дерев, ми не страждали від спеки, що панувала тоді в місті, і зустріли лише декілька людей - оце контраст з головними пам'ятками Риму! Поки ми дісталися площі Тополі, спека вже стала не такою безжалісною, тож решту шляху ми чимчикували в тому самому настрої спокійної внутрішньої радості від досягнутої мрії побачити все, що ми в той день побачили включно з Сікстинською Капелою. Про такі враження важко говорити, бо не впевнений, що можеш добрати правильні слова, щоб їх виразити. Для мене такий стан свідомості означає, що справжні почуття леліяні і збережені, тому мені подобається бути в такому настрої... Щось я відволіклася від теми:-) Отже, на одній з вулиць ми зазирнули до якогось кафе перепочити і перекусити. Обрані фруктові салати були сумішшю несмачних полуниць, ківі (які я не люблю), соковитих дині та ананасу. До того я не знала, що настільки хочу ананасів, щоб з'їсти ще одну порцію салату лише з них. Та це ще й стало гарним                       завершенням того дня:-)

To have such memories and to go past the piece of fabric with pineapples print isn't possible :-) However, I couldn't choose the right pattern for the fabric at once as this is a rare case when I bought the fabric not having any ideas for it on my mind. Before this blouse #117 from Burda 10/2015 was defined, I traced three other patterns. But this one was surely right. The blouse is both loose and fitting at the same time - an ideal variant for summer. As my mom said, "I cannot imagine anything other sewed from this fabric". Exactly like me :-) 

On the photo the blouse is paired with my favourite summer trousers and, as I didn't make special jewellery for this outfit, I'm wearing Pinch Beads  earrings and Candy bracelet to complete the it.

Коли маєш такі спогади, пройти повз шматка тканини з візерунком з ананасів неможливо :-) Проте, я не могла обрати модель одразу, оскільки це той рідкісний випадок, коли я купила тканину не маючи ідей щодо її застосування. До того як зупинилася на цій блузці 117 з Burda 10/2015, три інші викрійки були накреслені. Але саме ця виявилася тим, що треба. Блузка водночас і вільна і має прилягання - ідеально для літа. Як сказала моя мама: "Не можу уявити, що з цієї тканини можна було б пошити щось інше". Так само як і я :-) 

На фото блузку поєднано з моїми улюбленими літніми штанами і, оскільки спеціальних прикрас до неї не зроблено, я доповнила вбрання сережками з намистинами пінч і браслетом з намистинами кенді.

As for the sewing, the most important is to follow the instruction to keep the order of joining the details. I made the detail 4 with a fold in the centre back.

Щодо пошиття, найголовніше - це дотримуватися інструкції, щоб не переплутати порядок з'єднання деталей. Деталь 4 у мене зі згином посередині спинки.

I like the belt for this model and I'd love to make it of fabric but I didn't have enough material for that so stitched two half belts into the front reliefs to tie them on the back. In this way the blouse gets its optimal fitting.

Мені подобається пояс передбачений для цієї моделі і я б його із задоволенням пошила, але у мене не було достатньо тканини на нього, тому я зробила два півпояси і вшила їх в передні рельєфні шви. Так блузка отримала своє оптимальне прилягання.

Safari Jacket, or Breezy Summer Evening

About a month ago, right after photographing this dress, me and my cousin were sitting at an outdoor cafe chatting about different trifles. One of the topics was our this year wonderful summer with cool nights and not so hot, as usual, days. I even mentioned that the evening was breezy enough and I didn't mind wrapping in a shawl. I think about such an item quite long but still have none for summer chilly nights and not only because I cannot choose the colour style and pattern. I tried to remember how often during summer I needed to put on a kind of clothes warmer than a light dress. During about last 8 years I only recalled few nights at Crete, few nights at Shatsky Lakes and maybe there were few more not so remarkable nights that I forgot them but... it seems to be all. Even in the Carpathians I used to be so lucky with the weather that I only wore something snugger when climbing the mountains! But, of course, chilly days in warm seasons happen and everybody must be ready to find oneself in summer in some not so hot place as the south of Ukraine. I am now as I've made a jean jacket, I guess it is more practical and wearable and much quicker to make than a shawl :-) 

Here the jacket is paired with an old skirt, #105 from Burda 2/2014. 

Жакет сафарі, або Прохолодний літній вечір

Десь місяць тому, саме після фотографування цієї сукні, ми з сестрою сиділи на відкритому майданчику кафе і теревенили про різні дрібниці. Однією з тем було наше чудове цьогорічне літо з прохолодними ночами і не такими спекотними, як зазвичай, днями. Я навіть відмітила, що вечір був доволі вітряний і я б не проти загорнутися у шаль. Я вже про таку річ давненько розмірковую, але все ще її не маю і не лише тому, що ніяк не можу вибрати кольорову гаму і модель. Я намагалася згадати, як часто влітку мені доводиться одягати щось тепліше за легку сукню. За останні приблизно 8 років я лише пригадала декілька вечорів на Криті, декілька вечорів на Шацьких озерах і можливо було ще декілька не таких визначних вечорів, що я їх забула, але це, здається, і все. Навіть колись в Карпатах  мені так пощастило з погодою, що я вдягала щось затишніше лише коли дерлася у гори! Але, звісно, прохолодні дні в теплі пори року бувають і кожний має бути готовим опинитися влітку в якомусь не такому спекотному місці як південь України. Я - готова, бо пошила собі джинсовий жакет, думаю це набагато практичніше і вдягатиметься частіше і його набагато швидше зробити ніж шаль :-) 

Тут жакет поєднано зі старою спідницею 105 з Burda 2/2014. 

Not so hot July and the early August days let me spend time for sewing the jacket #110 from Burda 10/2017. Such things require time and efforts so it is easier to make them on vacation. Here the jacket is paired with very very old trousers #102 from Burda 7/2009.

Не такі спекотні дні на початку серпня дозволили мені витрати час на пошиття жакету 110 з Burda 10/2017. Такі речі потребують часу та зусиль, тож легше їх робити у відпустці. Тут жакет поєднано з дуже дуже старими штанами 102 з Burda 7/2009.

The sewing started with making pockets. At first I made all the flips, then prepared small pockets. As the fabric is quite gloomy denim, I decided to top stitch almost all the seams and edges of the jacket with a very thick silky thread. It had to alive it and saved the style :-)

Пошиття почалося з виготовлення кишень. Спочатку я зробила всі клапані і підготувала маленькі кишені.  Оскільки тканина - це доволі похмурий денім, майже всі шви і краї я вирішила відстрочити товстою шовковою ниткою. Це мало його пожвавити і зберегти стиль :-)

Next - big pockets and fronts. It was interesting work. The small pockets were stitched after the front parts were ready.

Далі - великі кишені і передні частини. Це було цікаво. Маленькі кишені настрочені вже після того, як передні частини були готові.

When pairing with blue things, the blue hue of the fabric is seen. I don't remember what patterns are these jeans and the shirt, I will add when come across the magazines.

Якщо поєднати жакет з блакитними речами, стає помітним блакитний відтінок тканини. Не пам'ятаю, які моделі ці джинси і сорочка, додам потім, коли натраплю на журнали.

At first I wasn't going to line the jacket. But then, when saw how much work I would do and it really deserves to be lined, I changed my mind and found this piece of fabric in my stash for lining. How to join the lining to the jacket I described here in details. I looked through that post myself to remind how to do that :-)

Спочатку я не збиралася пришивати підкладку до жакета. Але потім, коли побачила, скільки тут буде зроблено роботи і що це заслуговує на пришивання підкладки, передумала і знайшла цей шматок тканини для підкладки у запасах. Як приєднати підкладку до жакету до дрібниць описано тут. Я сама заглядала в той допис, бо вже забула як це робиться :-)

Here the jacket is paired with coral trousers and a loose blouse.

Flounce Dress, or Venice & Prejudice

Prejudice is not good. The classic sample of the prejudice is Jane Austin's of the same title book plot, for example. The good news: prejudices can be dispelled by life experience :-) This year I visited Venice. I was prejudiced against this city a lot. I imagined it to be despondent and dying, damp and grim. I don't know why I had such an idea. But during my visit I saw the city very airy, bright, stunningly beautiful and festive. And more than that I am sure those, who are looking for some special romantic atmosphere in Venice, they will find it undoubtedly as soon as they forget about thousands of people around. The thing that was hard to stand there was the absence of air conditioner in the cafe where me and my friend had dinner so it was better to do outdoors. Of course, one day in such a place is not enough to see it in full but it is more than enough to change the opinion, feel inspired and have a wish to come back again. I have no chance to do the latter, however I can dream about that and embody the dream in some of my projects:-)

або Венеція та упередження

Упередження - це не добре. Класичний приклад упередження - сюжет книги Джейн Остін з аналогічною назвою, наприклад. Гарна новина: упередження можна розвіяти життєвим досвідом:-) Цього року потрапила до Венеції. Я була дуже упереджена проти цього міста. Уявляла його похмурим, вологим, пригніченим і таким, що вмирає. Не знаю, звідки у мене народилася і затрималася така думка. Але одразу по приїзді побачила місто дуже легким, яскравим, приголомшливо гарним і святковим. Більш того, я не маю жодних сумнівів, що ті, хто шукають особливу романтичну атмосферу Венеції, обов'язково її там знайдуть, щойно припинять помічати натовп людей навколо. Що було там важко витерпіти - так це відсутність кондиціонеру в кафе, де ми з подругою обідали, тож краще це було робити на вулиці. Звісно, одного дня в такому місці не досить, щоб побачити його повністю, але це цілком достатньо, щоб змінити думку, відчути натхнення і мати бажання повернутися туди знову. Шансів це зробити у мене немає, проте я можу про це помріяти і втілити таку мрію в одному з моїх проектів :-)

At first I bought the material, a couple of years ago, it was cheap and I bought it enough to sew other fabric consuming model. And until my coming back from Italy this year still had the same plan. But then... I wanted something airy, flouncing and playful so change my mind in favour of the model #109 from Burda 6/2017. As the fabric wasn't wasted before, I guess the moment became its happy time:-)

Спочатку я купила тканину, ще пару років тому, вона була дешева і я купила її достатньо, щоб пошити іншу модель, на яку треба було багато матеріалу. І до мого повернення з Італії цього року план не мінявся. Але потім... мені захотілося чогось такого повітряного, грайливого, що слідувало б за вітром, тож я змінила свою думку на користь моделі   109 з Burda 6/2017. Оскільки тканину не було змарновано раніше, думаю, це стало її зірковим часом :-)

I mostly followed the instruction. But have some tips. Firstly, as I had no reinforcing stripe in my stash, I stitched the neck hole and armholes edges to prevent them from stretching. After the edges were processed with pipes, those stitches were removed.

Переважно все робила за інструкцією. Але декілька прийомчиків маю. Оскільки в запасах у мене немає зміцнювальної стрічки, краї пройм і вирізу переду прострочила довгим стібком, щоб не розтягувалися. Коли ті краї обробила косою бейкою, ті стібки випорола.

The collar's parts were joined with French seam. At least we call it here in this way.

Частини коміру було зшито французьким швом.

I never buy extra fabric to cut bias stripes because after that a lot of fabric is left so I make a long stripe of many short ones.

Ніколи не купую додаткову тканину, щоб кроїти косі бейкі, тому що після цього залишається багато тканини. Тож довгу смужку я зшиваю з багатьох коротких.

After finishing the dress I stitched the front parts by the centre line for about 9-10 cm and also sewed them at the V-neck with few stitches to make them keep together. To make nice hemming for collar and bottom I put tracing paper under the fabric: the fabric doesn't move and it helps keep the stitches straight. 

По закінченні пошиття я зістрочила передні частини по центру десь на 9-10 см і декількома стібками скріпила їх біля мису вирізу, щоб трималися у купі. Щоб зробити гарну строчку для підгинки спідниці і коміра, я підкладала кальку під тканину - так вона не зсувається і строчка залишається прямою.

I am very happy with the outcome. The dress surely matches the dream:-) 

I also made the bracelet, the eaкrings and a simple necklace to pair the outfit.
